¶ Understanding Nighttime You
you to be . When you approach your evenings with faith , prayer and intention , you can find a peace and joy at night , free from the things that hold you back from living the life that he has called you to .
I have seen incredible transformations in women who thought they'd never move past their nighttime struggles , and instead they were able to cultivate evenings that they actually really looked forward to . Today , I'm going to be walking you through three ways to shift your evening . You know what I've realized about those tough evening moments .
Nighttime , you is not the villain here . She's not here to undo all the good that morning you had planned . She's simply carrying the weight of your day , the decisions , the moments of stress , the emotions , and by the end of the day , she's just looking for some rest and comfort . And you know what ? That's okay .
God actually calls us to care for our bodies and minds lovingly . I like to call this holy self-care . So I invite you to pause and remember this truth . So I invite you to pause and remember this truth . Nighttime isn't a failure . It's your chance to lean on the Lord and ask how can I nurture this part of myself in a way that pleases you ?
When we shift our perspective , everything begins to change .
¶ Creating Calming Evening Rituals
Now the first way to support yourself in the evenings is to create a calming ritual that invites peace , both physical and spiritual . Now this could mean brewing a cup of herbal tea , lighting a candle , saying a short evening prayer or the rosary soul saying a short evening prayer or the rosary .
Just as morning you might start the day with prayer and intention , nighttime you can do the same . To close out the day , you might want to spend a few minutes reflecting on where you felt God's presence during the day , or whispering a prayer of gratitude for his guidance . These small actions can act as a heart reset .
You're ushering in rest and renewal in a way that deepens your connection to him . This practice replaces agitation with comfort . No glass of wine necessary Now . This isn't just about shifting in action . It's actually about inviting God into your evenings . When you slow down and intentionally include him in this time , peace actually becomes your anchor ,
¶ Transforming Cravings into Prayer
actually becomes your anchor . Next , I want to encourage you to pause when those cravings hit and turn them into an opportunity for prayer and self-reflection . So when you feel that pull toward a drink , stop and take five deep breaths . Then ask yourself two things . The first is what am I truly feeling right now ?
And the second is what is it that my heart actually needs ? You may realize you're seeking comfort because the day's stress has left you worn out and weary . Or maybe you're longing for connection after a long and isolating day . When you've named the feeling , lift that to God in prayer . If you're lonely , maybe pick up your phone and call a loved one .
If you're overwhelmed , retreat into his word or listen to calming music , go for a walk , take a hot bath . Doing these things will help meet your needs in ways that are deeply fulfilling . Now you're not denying yourself comfort . I want you to really remember that . Let's not think with a deprivation mindset . You're not just taking something out .
You're actually replacing it with something even better , because you're inviting God to be your comfort . Remember what Matthew 11 28 says Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden , and I will give you rest and , lastly , create something joyful and wholesome and special to look forward to at the end of the day .
Maybe that's reading a good book , preparing some tea and reading scripture , journaling about your day , or just sitting in quiet prayer and reflecting on how God is working in your life .
¶ Finding Joy & Wrapping Up
So , to wrap up , I just want you to remember something Nighttime you isn't a problem to Sol . She's part of you that just needs a little extra love and care and attention . When you start meeting her needs in healthy , nourishing ways , the cravings for alcohol will fade .
Of course , this is not an overnight fix , but every small choice that you make sets you on the path towards mornings where you wake up feeling proud and nights where you'll actually enjoy your time . Remember to be patient with yourself . One small step at a time leads to big change .
You've got this and I'm cheering for you every step of the way Until next time . Well , that does it for this episode of the Catholic Sobriety Podcast .
