Episode description

Lamont Coleman is a producer, songwriter, artist. Big smile, big hair, big presence, humble yet exuberant. With practically a lifetime creating music, and achieving early notoriety as a producer, he continues to perfect his craft, having worked with majors such as Wyclef Jean, Akon, Lil’ Wayne, T.I, Shakira, the Latin group Aventura, Justin Bieber, Eve, and Jim Jones. A revolutionary spirit who resists the restrictions frequently imposed by the music industry, Lamont Coleman relentlessly pursues his passion for creating music that aims to uplift his audience and inspire them. Happily, his music still has great commercial success. “Sweetest Girl/Dollar Bill” by Wyclef Jean ft. Lil’ Wayne, Akon and Niia, which he produced, went platinum in 2008 and represents a first highlight of his career that earned him the BMI Pop Music Award in 2009. Lamont particularly loves working with up-and-coming artists, nurturing their craft but is also an artist in his own right. Although his rise to fame has been along the “urban” and “pop” paths, he is steeped in gospel and has a massive love for rock, and consequently his own catalog reflects the breadth of his talent. His solo project, L. Coleman, will mirror his non-snobbish approach to music – eclectic, filled with joy and bigger than life — a description which pretty much sums up Mr. Coleman perfectly.
