Episode description

Inequality is still deeply entrenched in Britain: there is a persistent gap in early literacy; the attainment gap at the end of secondary school has hardly shifted since 2014 and the better off are nearly 80% more likely to end up in a professional job than those from a working-class background. Produced in partnership with the UK’s Ministry of Justice, we discuss the topic of Social Mobility, specifically looking at creating opportunities in the workplace. Our guests in the studio were: 1/ Margaret Gibson OBE, Deputy Chief Executive, EY Foundation 2/ Pete Lawrence OBE, Chief Executive, Civil Service Commission 3/ Shaun McNally CBE, SRO for Brexit Planning and Preparedness, Ministry of Justice Plus we also here from Dr Helen Jenkins, Managing Partner, Oxera For more information, visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/social-mobility-in-great-britain-state-of-the-nation-2018-to-2019
