Good Credit - Beavis and Butt-Head Episode 7

Episode 7 Beavis and butthead "Good Credit"
It first aired on MTV on May 17th 1993

Story:

The episode starts in beavis and buttheads house. We see the TV as it shows the opening sequence of the brady bunch. As the brady bunch song plays showing the female cast, beavis and butthead chime in with the song but instead sing "the youngest one liked girls"
Then, with the part showing the male cast of the show the boys then sang "but they didnt sleep alone"

Beavis lifts his hand up holding a credit card "hey butthead, look what i found" beavis says he found it yesterday at Mr. Andersons house. On the credit card Tom T anderson is printed on it.
"Lets burn it" says beavis as he hold a lighter up underneath it.

Butthead swipes the card from beavis' hand as he says "no way choad smoker, you can buy stuff with these things"
"Can you buy BB guns?" asks beavis
"I think so" replies butthead

Cut back to their TV as they change the brady bunch to a channel playing beverly hillbillies. The character Jed in the show is saying "hoo doggies, its still a good thing about them possum innards, still good the next day"

Cut to an outside shot of a shopping mall called the turbo mall 2000.
the boys are walking through the mall with a shopping cart that contains a toilet plunger, a stuffed mounted moose head, a baseball bat, chainsaw and kerosene. Oddly, these are all of the same items seen in a bedroom of their house in the prior episode.

They stop at a pet store called "pet me" and beavis says "lets buy some animals"

Next we see the back view of an RV travelling down the road as country music plays in the background.
The spare tire cover on the back of the RV reads "the andersons, Tom and Marcy"
The RV pulls into a parking lot of the holoway inn hotel, a parody of the holiday inn.

We then see the front of the RV as tom and marcie anderson have a conversation after shutting off the vehicle.
Tom and marcie Anderson are an old retired couple who live in the same neighborhood as beavis and butthead. Tom Anderson is a retired war veteran and along with his wife goes along with anything her husband does, not saying much.

Tom says to marcy how much hes been looking forward to this trip. He goes on and says "all the ole boys are gonna be here, dick, Peter, rod, johnson, why i even heard a rumor that ole john thomas might show up this time."

Back to the beavis and butthead in the pet store as they're looking at a bird.
The store clerk approaches them and asks if they need any help. Butthead says "yeah, I wanna buy this thing" Beavis in the meantime is flicking on his lighter and holding it under the birds perch.

The clerk says the bird is $2,400. Butthead says "ill take two of them" 
thinking the boys have no means to buy it, the clerk threatens to call security until he sees the credit card in beavis' hand and says "oh i see, would you like anything else today?"

Beavis asks for dogs
The clerk brings a golden retriever and mentions how its 100% pure bred and lists how top choice it is, then beavis points out "look hes got a boner" butthead says "we'll take him"
beavis then asks for some cats

Back to tom and marcy anderson at the hotel, they are at the reception desk and Tom threatens the man behind the counter that they better have a room close to the bar. The hotel employee says "sure cash or charge"

Mr. Anderson says "im using the ole plastic" as he flips open his wallet and then realizes he doesnt have his credit card.
He throws his wallet onto the counter, making coins and other cards fly out. "Dammit, im gonna miss the opening ceremonies" Tom yells

Back to beavis and butthead at the pet store, they ask if there are any dead animals available. The clerk mentions that there were a couple chinchillas that didnt make it through shipping.
Butthead says "cool"

Beavis, with a lizard sitting on his shoulder, pushes the shopping cart up to the front of the store. Inside the cart are 3 birds, 2 cats and a snake.

Following behind beavis is butthead with a humping dog attached to each leg.
The clerk adds up everything and it totals to $6,275. Butthead hands the clerk the credit card and signs his name "butthead" on the receipt.

Back to the andersons at the hotel, Tom is still trying to find his credit card while saying he doesnt even have enough money to get home.
Marcy says "say honey, werent you using it to get into the tool shed after those boys locked you out"
Tom realizing this, screams in rage.
"sire im going to have to ask you to leave" says the man behind the counter.

Tom, still shaking, Marcy taps him on the arm and says not to worry and that thers always next year.

Back to beavis and butthead walking out of the mall with the animals, in which the cats jump out of the cart and run away instantly. Butthead says "welcome to the credit world dude"

one dog now had the 2400 dollar bird in its mouth and shaking it. The two parrots in the cart, one resembling beavis and the other butthead squak "that was cool" repeatedly.

Back at the boys house, beavis and butthead are sitting on their couch with the animals all around them as they watch archie bunker on the screen from the show all in the family, bird crap falls onto the top of the TV as they change the channel to a woman pleading to give money to people in need.

Butthead says why dont those people just get credit cards, they they could eat all they wanted.
"Maybe theyre stupid" says beavis
"What are we gonna do with all of these animals" asks butthead
beavis answers "lets take them to andersons house"
"yeah, its the least we could do" says butthead
The two parrots perched on the back of each side of the couch laugh like the boys. 
They both agree to keep the birds for themselves.

beavis says "yeah remember, right before the pig races"

As the video shows the female singer butthead asks "hey beavis, would you bangle her"
beavis says "yeah"

"yeah they're afraid of our love" says butthead

Ramones – "Pet Sematary"
Butthead says fire is cool and dead animals are cool
they change it

John Cougar Mellencamp – "Pop Singer"
butthead says "this is that guy with all those last names"
Beavis asks butthead how many last names he has
Butthead says just one dude, head, he goes on to say that john cougar mellencamp really does suck.
The boys call him a whiner and complainer
butthead says: "id complain too if i sucked
Beavis asks "how come you dont complain" then laughs
butthead tells beavis to shut up


Soundgarden – "Rusty Cage"
Beavis is shown with a cigarette in his mouth, attempting to light it.
The boys headbang and beavis talks about what if the old man in the video tripped and got the pitch fork stuck in his stomach.
butthead tells beavis to calm down and to not soil his drawers.

In a few airings, instead of the Loverboy and the Bangles music videos the video for "Been Caught Stealing" by janes addiction was played instead


Fun Facts:

This episode got censored after its first airing with a few things got cut

In the beginning of the boys talking on the couch was trimmed; Beavis suggesting that they set fire to the card was cut, as well as him getting singed and Butt-Head calling him a chodesmoker.

Multiple scenes of Beavis trying to burn the parrot's perch with his lighter were cut though one managed to make it past the censors during the scene where the pet shop worker is bringing the dog on screen.

Also, the scenes with Anderson and his wife at the front counter were shown at different times, Beavis and Butt-Head's animal spree taking their place. This is probably due to Anderson repeating the line "dammit!" so many times in one scene that they had to break it up into three segments.

This is the first time Tom Anderson appears in the series.
Tom Anderson is the older man living in Beavis and butt-Heads neighborhood. He's bald, wears glasses, 6'3" tall and weighs in at 250 pounds. 
He appears in this episode wearing a white undershirt, green overalls and a blue outdoorsy style brimmed hat. Later episodes he loses the gren overalls and his hat changes to a light green color then back to blue in others. 
He's a retired military veteran who fought in multiple wars including World war 2 and the korean war. 
He enjoys drinking beer, going on trips with his wife Marcie, doing yard work and working with tools.
Throughout the series, Beavis and Butthead do odd jobs for him in which the boys wind up destroying his property and/or ruining things. The boys always get away with it due to Mr. Anderson being senile, he always confuses beavis and butthead by calling them other names.

The voice of Tom Anderson is done by Mike Judge

Also Tom Andersons voice is the same voice used for Hank Hill in the cartoon series King of the Hill. Another cartoon series Mike Judge created.

In King of the hill, Hank Hill was supposed to be the son of Tom Anderson and mike judge was wanting to make the show loosely in the world of beavis and butthead. The problem was that king of the hill was on fox and beavis and butthead was owned by MTV, it didnt work out.

Mike Judge came up with the Tom Anderson character based on multiple people throughout Mikes childhood. Gowing up in new mexico, to mike, he noticed how every middle aged man with authority had a texas accent.
One in particular he describes was when he had a newpaper route with his brother. They were a month into the route and Mike and his brother were collecting the money door to door and at one house a man like tom anderson answered. Mike said it was the end of the month and we're here to collect the money. The man replied "Well you aint my paperboy"
Mikes brother responded with "yeah we know, your old paperboy quit and we're your new paper boys" the man replied back "well i know what my paperboy looks like and you aint my paper boy"
Mikes bother then said "well if you dont pay, then we'll have to cancel your subscription"
the man replied back "oh im gonna get the paper when the real paperboy comes"

A less major character appeared for the first time as well in this
episode which was Tom Andersons wife, Marcy.
She's an old, kind and reserved woman that doesnt say too much and when she does its in a calmed, quiet and somewhat scared tone.
She appears for the first time as a short woman with short grey hair and glasses wearing a pink shirt. In later episodes shes seen either wearing light purple or light brown pants.

In this episode of Good Credit, Mike Judge did the voice of Marcy Anderson

In this episode, Good Credit on his credit card that Tom's middle initial is the letter T.

Butt-head briefly has a GWAR T-shirt. This occurs in the scene in the pet store when they are walking the animals up to the cash register to pay.

Good credit is the second episode of beavis and butthead season 2 and is the 7th episode overall.
