Welcome to the Business Fondle, the Bold Business Podcast for entrepreneurs and business owners hosted by Peta Serras the Professional Babe. So why don't you pour yourself a drink and slip into something a little more comfortable and I'll get your business going.
Well, hello. Hello hot staff. We are on the cusp of the eclipse. And let me tell you, before I went to bed last night, I was ready to just burn some shit down like I was in a ragy. I was in a ragy, undesirable, unpleasant mood, and I woke up today. I had a nice sleep in. I had two espressos and I was like, you know what? If the world wants to fucking burn, let it burn. So I don't know if that is just gonna add some spice to today's episode.
It could, because we do have a little bit of a spicy topic, which is, can I be honest with you? Uh, and this is very much inspired by the content that I see out there where it's like. Baby girl, I'm gonna hold your hand when I say this or things that I would tell you if I wasn't afraid to hurt your feelings.
And I'm thinking, this is so funny that we've never actually had a podcast episode on this because if you know me like you really, really know me, you know that I'm direct, I say what I think there's really like no filter and not in like a mean way, but I. Uh, I'm, I'm, I do have opinions that sometimes I will kind of like dilute because I'm really worried about upsetting people. Like that is my biggest fear in life is I never wanna be mean. I never wanna upset, upset people.
I never wanna hurt their feelings. And maybe that's why I've never done a podcast episode like this before. So hot stuff. Can I be honest with you? you probably don't need to outsource as much as you do. It is interesting that five, maybe five years ago, like having a virtual assistant was like a real thing. It's like you wanna have a business cool hire before you're ready. You have to start before you're ready.
You have to do all of these things like how can you expect to grow if you don't have a team? You need to get everything in place before you grow. Now I don't wanna give you just my opinion. Okay. Now, my opinion is obviously from two decades of, almost two decades of experience of being an entrepreneur, it's working with, oh my gosh, I'm gonna say thousands of clients. Now, across these workshops, I'm on a government website, the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman.
So this is run by the Australian government. Something really interesting. So when we're looking at annual turnover, almost 25% of businesses are owning less than 50 KA year. Now, if we're trying to live on our business and we're trying to grab, we're trying to get like a really decent, sexy wage. We don't have any money in that to pay a va. Okay?
Because when we think about the fact that we're gonna have to put, we're gonna have to pay tax, we've got our business outgoings, we need to make sure that we can pay ourselves. So if you're at that point, you probably don't need a virtual assistant. Now, when we look at the next tier up, uh, 50 k to less than 200 k. 33%, 32.7% of businesses are in that.
So right there we can see that when we're looking in Australia at businesses, half of businesses are making less than two, uh, less than $200,000 in a year. Now, when we look at the fact that when you're at 200 grand a year, you're probably gonna be a company. You are definitely gonna be GST registered. you are also gonna have to pay tax. You're gonna have.
Outgoings, if you come to me and tell me that you want a sexy wage where you are gonna be taking like a hundred grand a year from your business and pay super on top of that and you know, have a hot website and hot branding pictures and a beautiful photo shoot, you probably don't have money to outsource to a virtual assistant. Okay, now this is gonna come back to the kind of business that you want. When we look at my goals process for business growth, this is why we start with a goal.
What do you want? How much do you wanna earn? What does this look like? The reason we start there is because if you tell me I want to, I don't wanna earn too much, like I only wanna do like 150 rev a year, but I wanna take like a sexy salary. You then need to decide, okay, cool. Are you happy to earn less and pay an assistant? Or do you want your assistant? You want that wage? You are gonna have to make more money in your business.
So again, this comes back to the kind of business that you wanna have. Another thing I'm gonna say is there is this real reluctance sometimes of wanting to be a beginner or feeling like that if we are bad at something or that we don't like it, that we just shouldn't do it. And I dunno where this came up. Everyone's like, you should work in your zone of genius.
And it's like, that's fine if you have all of this capital to invest, but if you don't have any money and you wanna take money from your business, then this becomes a decision because you can't, you can't currently in this moment have everything. If you have a dollar in the bank, you can't have everything. And this is something where I think when I started my business being.
Being broke, not really having like a whole lot of money and having to figure things out myself was so, so good for me because I had to go through the process of learning shit. I couldn't just handball it to someone else. Now where hiring an assistant makes sense where outsourcing in your business makes sense. If you feel that you are now the bottleneck, if you are turning away money, if you are like, I can't have any more clients because. I have no more time. Okay, cool.
This is where you are then gonna look at your business and you are going to be like, what makes sense to outsource so I can free my time up so I can bring in more money. And this comes back to that conversation of it's like, why are you doing like a 30 or a $50 an hour task when you should be doing a 200 hour task, $200 an hour task, and outsourcing that to someone else and. What I'm gonna say too is you also need to make a distinction of do you actually need more time?
Because time is what is actually going to help you make more money. For example, let's pretend that you're like, I have an idea for an a million dollar course. I know that this can work. I've got the audience, people are receptive, but I have no time to create it. That would be awesome for you to obviously have that time to create the course. So yes, outsource stuff.
But if you are outsourcing stuff and you are kind of at this block where you're like, I feel like I don't have any more audience, but I don't really know what to do and stuff isn't working, can you see here how it's like if you outsource that to someone to do, but you actually don't know what to do, you are still gonna have this block.
The only difference is you're gonna have more space and you're probably gonna fill it with shit, or you're gonna be procrastinating, and this is where it's like, cool. Outsource it to a consultant or outsource it to a paid campaign. You know, do something, work with a company that can help you get the results that you want. But this is a decision that you have to make.
And if you were to ask me when I think that you should outsource, I'm gonna say get yourself to a point where you are GST registered. Get yourself to a point where you have like a proven cash flow system. Because the thing is, if you are really quick to handle things to someone else, I think that we also don't develop that like tolerance muscle of like trying new things because let me tell you, I can pretty much do everything in my business. I can, I can take photos, I can build a website.
I can rearrange my coded website. And this all happened because I didn't have money to pay someone. And when people say, you have a really good skillset, I can't do that. It's like, the only reason I did that is because that was the only option that I had. So I'm gonna say is if you feel like that a virtual assistant is the answer, it may not be. If what you actually need is more money and you hiring isn't going to give you the ability to kind of bring more money in. Okay?
The next thing we need to start using our brain. We have to use our brain. I am fearful for people that use AI for everything. And why I say this is because you never wanna have an opportunity come up and. You feel like you are gonna shit the bed because you can't actually present, you haven't been using your brain and making, like what you say, formulating your own body of work.
And I think that if you are exceptional at what you do, you have developed yourself and your method a hundred percent use chat to help. But where I worry about this is that if you, if, if this is the easy answer for you to, like, anytime you get a block, is to. Go and ask chat. My worry is what happens if that changes? What happens if chat ups their plan like 10 exit and it's now $200 a month and you can't afford it? What happens then? What happens if it, it's, it goes down.
What happens if there's like a bug and it's just spitting out really bad work? If you are at the mercy. Of something else. And this is why I'm, for me, I'm like, and again, that last point of outsourcing, I never wanna put my ability to make money on someone else, right? It's like I see this like marriage. I never want my, the life that I want to be reliant on a man, because what happens if he leaves me? And then I'm like, oh my gosh, I dunno what to do.
And where I'm really fearful is business owners that really heavily use ai. For everything. Okay. You know, an example of this is when I put up my, my podcast descriptions, I have created a prompt. We feed the transcript through chat, just spits that back to me. It makes it really simple. But, if I had to do it myself, could I? A hundred percent. The problem is that you don't wanna make sure that you have forgotten.
Or you've, you've lost the ability to do things in your business because you are now outsourcing everything to something else. And as someone that finds like the writing process cathartic, even doing the podcast really cathartic, like I don't script things out. I sit here and I've got really basic little notes, which is just every little point that I wanna hit, and I just get to talk to you. And in doing that, sometimes it gets a bit messy. And guess what I get to do? I get to.
Stop and be like, that was a really good point, but maybe we could say it a little bit like this. And I get to go and redo it and then I get to edit that and I get to change it. And then you get the beautiful finished episode. The cool thing about doing this is this, doing the podcast like this has made me so good at speaking, like my speaking has gotten better. I say, um, less I talk with more conviction. And why I love this is because it's come from.
Just the ability of me not needing perfect work done every time. And I think that we can rely on Chat and Claude because we want a perfect answer, and we wanna outsource it to someone else because we think that they know. Instead of us kind of being like, what feels true for me in this moment, and let me go with this. Something you need to remember is every book that you love, every song that you listen to, every movie that you watch. It has gone through this process of bad work.
The thing that you are seeing is not the thing that has been spat out first and where I worry about chat. Is a lot of people are now thinking that the creative process or coming up with content is spinning out perfect work every time and we're actually missing that, that creative process. And when you do that, you, that is where the personal development is when people talk about how business is a really great personal development experience.
It's in that, and a lot of us aren't getting that because we're outsourcing all of that to something else. So maybe this is you just having a check in where it's like, if you wanna send an email. Like you're sending an email to your list, or you're doing a podcast episode, or you wanna do content before you go to chat, I want you to check in with yourself, and I want you to be like, what feels true for me right now? What has so much emotion behind it? What is making me angry?
What is making me sad? What is making me happy? How can I expand on that? How can I turn that into content before you are like, Hey, chat. I need an email idea on this. Can you give me some, you know, it's fine to do, but I want you to use your brain because that is where the growth will happen. All right. It's okay to be bored of your business. It is okay to look at your website and be bored or feel it's boring. It's okay for you to look at your feed and be a bit sick of your colors.
I remember I had a conversation with my friend Lucy from Homebody Club, and we were talking about this and she said that, you know, I can't remember who she said had said this to her, but it's like when you're sick of your logo. Is when you know that you are starting to do good work, because that is when you are so used to it. Now, this means other people are used to it, and this is where a brand happens. Imagine if McDonald's changed their logo every week or two weeks.
We would get to a point where if they were changing the color, they were changing what it looked like, we wouldn't have this association. You know, you may see the color like yellow with something that resembles like the McDonald's golden arches, and you think of that straight away.
You think of a color and you associate it with a brand, and the problem is, is that when we are changing our business too much, because we are bored of it, this is where I want you to ask yourself, is this a hobby or is this a business? If it's a hobby, you can change your mind every fucking day. You can decide not to show up. You can decide that you are gonna change the color. You're gonna decide that you're gonna use a different medium.
But if this is a business, you have to treat it like a business. And businesses don't change what they're doing every week. If you were to look at your Instagram every month, is there consistency? Is there like things maybe being refined, but there is like a natural consistency in what you're doing. Because the problem is if you are using this as your hobby, you can't then get annoyed if sometimes it's not growing or giving the predictability that you want.
If you want predictable revenue and you want predictable growth, you need to have a business that is predictable, right? If you want that, if you want predictable growth, pre predictable revenue. How the fuck can we do that with an unpredictable business that changes all the time. And because of that, you are sometimes gonna get sick of what you're saying. You are sometimes gonna be bored. Do I get bored? Yeah, a hundred percent.
There are times with the podcast where I'm like, I feel like I have nothing new to say and I just don't wanna say anything and. I did use like a, a repost of our last podcast, I think the one last Thursday where I'd reused something because I was like, no, this is actually a really good episode. It's a year old. I think it needs to be set again, but. It's so funny that sometimes I feel I'm repeating a lot to you, and yet I still have praise on every single episode that you love it.
And it's usually praised by like the same people, and no one has ever said, wow, you've said the same thing here. And you've said the same thing here, and you've said the same thing here. So what I'm gonna ask of you to do is if you feel the need to have this as like your creative outlet. Where can you have consistency within your brand and your business? You can still have a creative outlet. What is that gonna be?
Maybe you are gonna do a behind the scenes vlog on YouTube where you're like, we're gonna talk about this. This is where I can kind of like show up and create and be experimentive. Or maybe it's gonna be behind the scenes on email, or maybe I'm just gonna start like a nice little side thing. Actually gonna be a hobby.
Because if you are trying to have a big business, you have to have consistency because the problem is, and I've seen this before, I have not wanted to work with people because they change their mind all the time. And I don't want them to fall out of love with the business. They have mid project and I get delivered something, but it's not that great because the next week they're talking about how, oh, they fell out of love with this and they don't really like that.
You know, I don't wanna work with people like that. I really value consistency and, and what is sometimes the downside of that is you are gonna get a bit bored with what you're doing. It just means that you are giving people enough chance. You think about it like you're giving people enough chance to, to buy and have that brand loyalty established. The reason you're bored is because you think about it all the time. You look at it all the time. You see it all the time.
You think about it all the time. We need to remember that that's not your customer. Your customer isn't in your head. Your customer's not looking at everything continually. So although for us, we may have seen something a thousand times, they may have only seen it 10 times. So just remember that it's okay to be bored with what you are doing. What you can think about here is it's like if you are feeling bored, where can we add a bit of spice without completely derailing our brand?
You know, this is where maybe you are like, I feel like that I'm bored with the content that I'm talking about. Okay, cool. Why? Because I'm saying the same shit. Okay, cool. What do you wanna say? I wanna talk about what's important to me. Okay, perfect. Do that. Do that, but we don't need to continually burn our business down and start again. It's like we can still do things in a really on-brand way and and have something, because what we want is that consistency.
We don't wanna feel like that. We're continually starting from scratch. Now, I said this earlier with the outsourcing point, but we don't have to like. Everything in our business, and the reason we don't have to like everything in our business is because this is a business. It's not a hobby. I know. It's so unfortunate, isn't it? When I want you to think about your last corporate job or your last job. I'm only guessing this 'cause I've never had a job.
But think about your last job and I want you to think about all the people that worked in a job. Maybe you had an accounts person, uh, maybe you had a receptionist, maybe there was people that worked on projects like, but think about all the people that worked in this organization. That is you. You are the whole organization.
When you enter entrepreneurship, you have to do all of this yourself or you're outsourcing it to someone and there is going to be a chance that you are not gonna like things. Right. Do I like paying tax? No. I don't like paying tax, but I have to do it. Is my requirement because I have a business, do I like following people up when they owe me money? No, I don't like doing that, but I have a business. I'm gonna have to do that. Yeah. I've got automations.
But sometimes people will just ignore them. Right? That just happens. Do I like that? No, I don't like that. And I think sometimes this is where. It's like that whole, when you hear about like eating that like 80 20 rule where it's like, you know, if you want a really good balanced diet, you know, 80% of the time. Stick to something where you feel like you're eating food that nourishes your body and makes you feel really good. And then 20% of the time, eat whatever the fuck you want.
And that is like, that is the basis of a really good, healthy, sexy diet. That's the same with business. You know, you wanna get to a point where you love 80% of it, and if you don't, we've got a problem. But the 20% is always gonna be there. That's with everything. Now, you may get to a point when you can outsource that. But there's still gonna be things, there's still, there's things every day that I don't like doing. You know, I, I don't love editing the podcast. It's time consuming.
And sure I could outsource that. But as I said in the earlier part of the episode, it's like when we outsource, we also make a decision and it's like, would the money be served better paying someone or would that money be served better investing two nights away so I can batch record podcasts and I get a holiday. I also think too, that if you can train your brain to actually do things and still show up and not like it, you are gonna be such a good entrepreneur.
You know, I have gone through periods before when I want really dramatic growth, and I'll do something where I'll call these like, and I got this from Brooke Castillo. She calls it Dread Sprints. She's got a podcast episode on this and. I can't quite remember what she said, but I'm gonna tell you what I did after it. I realized that sometimes we will be dreading something and we draw the dread out because we're thinking about it instead of actually doing it.
And it got me thinking that anytime I want monumental growth, I need to be doing more things where I feel a bit miserable or scared by, or have like a negative connotation because that is where that growth point is, where it's like you think about it if you wanna get fit. You're not gonna feel particularly great when you're on the treadmill. You're gonna be outta breath, your body is gonna ache, you're gonna be sore, you're not gonna like it.
A lot of thoughts are gonna come up and, but that's where your growth point is. So anytime I've wanted really big dramatic growth in my business, I will just commit to doing two hours of shit I fucking hate. And then I'll push it to like a day of doing stuff that I can't stand. And this is things where I'm like, oh, I will book my doctor's appointment. I will pay this bill. I will follow this up. I will do this.
I will make a phone call and I will do all of these things that I don't particularly wanna do. And then I get to the end of the day and I'm like, holy fuck. I feel like a goddess. I can't believe the amount of weight that that was on me. And this also happens in business when you do the things that you don't wanna do, the sense of achievement that you have. So I'm gonna say this too, where it's like, ask yourself what you are actually avoiding. What is the work that you don't want to do?
And sure, see if you can automate it. Sure. If you have someone on your team, handball it to, but we don't wanna get to this point where it's like the only thing that we're doing in business is just having fun. Because if you wanna be a CEO, that's not very CEO of you. Okay? That's like a hobby. And if you want a business, if you want big growth, if you are like, I wanna make a lot of fucking money on my terms and have a sexy life, what is gonna come with that is doing shit that you don't like.
I'm sorry, I'm not sorry. Okay, the next, we don't wanna be a professional student. What I mean by this is you don't wanna listen to every podcast episode. You don't wanna listen to every read, every book. You don't wanna join every work, every course. Oh, the this, this organization's running like a training on this. I'll sign up to that. You don't wanna be the person. That has all of the experience. They've got all of the knowledge, but no experience.
I've got an example who knows someone that is like a real fucking know it all, but they haven't actually done anything with it. It's like you'll talk about a country and they'll rattle off all of these facts and you are like, I know you've never stepped on a plane. Or it's like your uncle that will be watching the Olympics. That will be like, oh yeah, look at, look at his stroke. Like I just don't like that. Look at how he's running. I could have been that. It's like, yeah, but you're not there.
You're not out there doing it. And why I say this is, it can be really easy sometimes when you feel like that you have all of this data, you've read all of the books, you feel like in theory you know this, but there's actually no practical application. It's like, it's one thing to, to know it, but as Gary V says, like you can't read about doing pushups. If you wanna be fit, you have to go and do the pushups. You can't just keep reading about stuff.
So I think sometimes, like listening to stuff, reading a book, need it. It comes from this point of needing to feel like that we need to have more information and that we need to also feel good to do it. And I think that's why a lot of us get triggered by the marketing bros because they don't know a lot and they're terrible, but why we're so activated by them is because they're out there actually doing it. A lot of people and that we're like, why do they have a platform? They're terrible.
It's because they're actually out there doing something. We're listening to a book or we're doing EFT or we're doing a meditation routine to try and actually feel better. So we go and do it. So you don't wanna fall into this like professional student trap. You wanna make sure that it's like, if you are learning something, great, go do it. Go do it. Stay in action. Stay in that forward momentum and keep moving. And I think about this, anytime I go to like judge someone.
And I didn't realize that I did this until I found myself getting judged by, like, this was a, a few years ago, like a couple clients, and they would say something and they'd be like, I would've done this differently this time. I would've done this, I would've done that. And I'm thinking, you are giving me advice, but you've never actually launched anything before. Sure you've worked with people to launch something, but you haven't actually been on the ground launching your own thing.
And I was like, wow, it's really easy to dish out advice from the sidelines. And then I was like, hold on, but you sometimes do this too. And anytime I feel like that, I'm really quick to go into that. I ask myself, where am I? Where do I need to put my own attention in my business? Like where am I falling into the trap of needing to feel better? And I think sometimes it's this feeling of not wanting to feel things.
And wanting to like find out why and get to the bottom instead of just accepting that this is life. And sometimes you're not gonna feel good or you're not gonna feel like doing it. You know, it's, it's like, as Brooke Cast said, your life is gonna be filled with 50% negative emotion. And the sooner you can accept that, the happier you'll be. And I think about this all the time, whenever I'm just feeling upset or miserable or like I don't wanna do something, and it's like, okay, cool.
Feel the thing. This is life, this is gonna happen. And I think, again, this does come from this whole professional student, like we can be really obsessed with learning and that's fine. I don't wanna stop anyone from listening like to a podcast or reading a book. But, you know, if you, you have to get clear on what your goal is. And if your goal is to run a business and make money, then you need to actually be in action.
So this is where sometimes I will go through stages where I'm like, no more learning, no more books. You can listen to an like a book when you are cleaning your home, but right now what your business actually needs is you to be present and that action present. the next point. Instagram is not a business. It is false productivity. I think about this a lot where people like, I'm showing up and I'm doing all the things, and I'm like.
Okay. I understand that it feels like posting on Instagram stories is like. Updating people, but I want you to pretend for a second. Let's like pretend that instead of posting an Instagram story, it's like you posting on Twitter. It's the same thing. So it's really interesting that, because I think we can actually see that people are viewing our stuff.
It can, it can make us feel like that we are doing stuff and I don't doubt that like you can have really productive Instagram stories, but you know, I would be really curious for you to go and open your. Uh, screen time app. I don't know if this is like an Android thing, but on iPhone you can, you can look at your screen time and I would, I want you to look at the apps that you focus on as your business apps. Okay?
Like, look at Instagram, look at threads, look at TikTok, and I want you to look at the screen time and ask yourself if that was productive, focused effort in my business, how much money do I think that I could make? And is that money present in my business? And if it's not. Maybe we just need to get a little bit more honest with ourself.
Now, the reason I like to single out Instagram is because I think that we can have this feed obsession, we can have this obsession with, you know, getting followers and all of this stuff, but we overlook like the business part of business. And you know, I've said before in in trainings where it's like if you have been posting content, but you can't tell me that you have leads, you've gotta stop posting content. Because what's the point? You know, if you are.
If you are running a business and you're trying to have sales and you're like, I've got no one interested, like, what's the point? Why are we investing all of this time on a, on a platform? And it's kind of like this obsession sometimes where we will want to empty our inbox before we start working, or we feel like that we have to do all of these things before we start working. And I call this like cruise control mode. So it's like getting in the car.
And you're driving to maybe like a place you always go and we kind of forget the journey of going there because we do this all the time. And this is sometimes where we will show up in our business and we will feel like that. We've been really busy all the all day, but we haven't actually, we can't really tell what we've done, but we know that we've been really busy and. Instagram, I think for a lot of people is a real time suck. Okay. The dms are there. There's always things to post.
We feel like that we need to stay top of mind. We need to consume everyone else's shit. And what I wanna say is just make sure that if you feel like that you have been really busy and like stuff isn't working, is it because you're actually busy and you've been moving the needle and you've been doing productive things? Or is it that you've just been really prevalent on that app? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. The next thing, people cannot want it more than you.
Your business coach cannot want it more than you. Your friends cannot want it more than you. And if you have people that keep telling you that, you are so good and you're so good at this. And if this is repeatedly happening, that's the caveat. Okay? Once off, you know, once a quarter, that's fine.
But if you are relying on people every day to tell you that this is good, and if you want them to push you to do this, you are always going to struggle in entrepreneurship because it is a skill that we all have to learn. To be able to show up when no one is clapping and no one is paying attention. And when everyone is telling us this is a dumb fucking idea, let me tell you, when I started my studio, it was in 2009. No one knew what Pilates was. Everyone thought I was an idiot.
They're like, I can't believe you've spent all this money on a Pilates qualification. You've spent like over a year getting certified and you are now spending all this money opening a studio. You could have been a lawyer, like you could have, you could have done, you could have had a career. And I thought that everyone was fucking stupid. And I was like, why the fuck am I gonna listen to you? Look at your shit life. And I remember like, I was like, you think I'm sassy now?
The sass has been dialed down considerably. And I remember looking at people's lives, I'm like, I'm not gonna take. Any advice from you? Like, I don't want your life like at all, and I really wanted this for myself. I wanted this for myself. So much. Like even now in business, when I think about having a million dollar year, million dollar Peter, I want this so badly. I want this so badly.
I don't need anyone to tell me that I'm great and that I'm incredible and to keep going and to like love bomb me. I don't give a fuck. I don't care if it there is silence. I will show up and I say this because the problem is if you can't find it within yourself to want this and to know that you are deserving and worthy of this, you are always gonna hit a ceiling. And the ceiling is you. Because people can't make you. See, they can't, they can't want this more than you.
They just cannot want this more than you. That is something that you have to be able to do for yourself. And I guess this brings me to my last one. It's really interesting. I will talk to founders that wanna make all this money, and I get that I love money. Trust me, I look at, look at my fucking handbag, like I love nice, sexy things. but I think sometimes when we have this feeling of it needing to work, this has to work immediately.
I have to be a millionaire immediately and we get sucked into easy money. Like, here's how you are gonna make a million dollars next month Why are we so focused on like getting to the point of success? Like what is there, why? And I think for some people it can be that they actually hate their business and the money has to be worth it. The money is making it worth it. For some people, it's that they want to prove to other people that they're incredible.
And remember that has to come from you from other people. It's like you've just gotten into this because you were told that. Business is an easy way to make a dollar, and you just wanna make money. There's no heart, there's no soul in it.
What there is is you with this drive and desire to make like a lot of money, and again, this conversation is a bit of a tricky one because, you know, if, if you are like, oh, okay, cool, I'm happy to not earn a lot of money, it's like, well, hold on the, the like, what's happening there? But you know, I see this where people that are ready to give up that have a good business because they're not a millionaire.
And what we need to remember is the pro, you have to love the process because the process is your business. When we think about. Earning a million dollars or that big thing that we are working towards. What is going to deliver us to that point is your standard workday. So when we look at making all that money, that is gonna be made up of who we are today, who we are this week, who we are this month, You have to like that. You have to like the pro, you have to have a genuine love and enjoyment.
And again, sometimes I, I, I feel like insane having these conversations with people, but it's really interesting the people that I think sometimes they. They doubt their ability so much because I don't love their business, but they're so fearful about changing their mind and doing something different. I had this with the studio. I fucking hated it. I was so done, I think I was done earlier than.
I, I, I was with my business, I just felt like that I, I, I knew I wasn't meant to be doing what I was doing. I knew I shouldn't be in Maitland. I knew I should have been somewhere else, and I just wasn't. And there was also people who were like, oh, you're so good at this. Yeah. Like, I'm fucking fantastic at giving head. Like, I haven't created a business out of that, have I? So you don't have to monetize everything that you are doing.
Okay. That can just be something that you do on the side for fun, so what I'm gonna say here is money, obviously important. You're a business having big goals, you know I'm a fan of that. But what I'm gonna ask you to do is make sure that in the pursuit of big money. That you are not like making dollars that you are not happy about making. Like my goal is I wanna look at the money in my bank account and I wanna feel like I've loved how every dollar has been made to get there.
That feels so good for me. Uh, I don't wanna feel like that. Oh my gosh. I had to do all this work to get there, and it's felt terrible. I just don't like that. So what I'm gonna say is if you are paying yourself a sexy salary from your business, like you're getting like good money, uh, you've got a pretty good business, but there is this real drive. I have to be a millionaire. I have to get this, I have to do this now. Like, why?
And just like ask yourself, like, who, whose voice is driving this? Like what is, what is coming up from that? And if you are like, no, I just feel genuinely excited about making this money. Like, I mean, I've been doing this for a while. Okay, cool. But if there's something else, if you're trying to prove to other people, or if you're feeling like that this has to be worth it, or you are doing something because you thought it would be easy.
I would probably check in with yourself and have like a little conversation. Um, and yeah, this was, uh, I feel like I was quite nice. I could have been spicier, there's probably more things that I could be honest with, so maybe we'll do a part two. But right now, like this was the important thing. One more thing. Actually, one more thing has come up.
I want you to make sure as well that if you are saying that you want something and that you are gonna have a big business or you are gonna be an entrepreneur, I want you to get really clear on does your day actually reflect that. Can you actually see within how you show up every day and every week that what you want is actually a priority? I heard this woman say this on TikTok once.
She was like, you know, if aliens from above were watching you, would they actually have like an idea of what you were doing? Or would they be like, what the fuck is she doing down there? Or would they be like, oh yeah, she's building a business. Like, oh, I love her. Look at that. Look at that. Get up and go. Would they know? You know, because we wanna make sure that like who we are each day and our habits, that is going to give us an idea of our future.
Like, if you wanna know where you're gonna be at Christmas, you can look at what you've done today. Okay, that is gonna give you a really good indication. And before you are like, I've been sick. I'm in my ltil phase. I don't fucking care. I actually don't. I don't care. Okay. Respectfully, I don't care. And the reason is you need to also ask yourself why. Like you feel the need to just always have like these excuses, you know? So who are you today?
And if you are like, oh shit, I need to get my shit together and show up, like. Maybe you do. It's why when I say to people I know I'm gonna be so successful one day because I look at my habits and behaviors. It's Sunday, I'm recording a podcast episode. I give up a day every weekend, half a day, every weekend to do content and to do all of the things. So I'm not also, feeling like that I'm spread too thin or stressed through the wake. So I say this.
As someone that I think walks the talk, and I want you to walk the talk to so hot stuff. Where do you need to be honest with yourself? What do you need to be honest with yourself, with? What are you avoiding? What shit are you telling yourself? Where are you lumping responsibility onto other people? This is your one life. This is your business. You can make it as epic as you want, but the only person that can do that is you. That's it. That you are the only person.
The only fucking person, and I know it's hard. Business is hard. It says that on the brochure, bullet 0.1. But lucky for you, you're tough and you're incredible and I believe in you, but you have to believe in yourself. So hot stuff. I love this. I love you. Uh, I love you more than the coffee, than I'm about to go and have. Oh, I love that. Okay. I love you more. There's a couple things here. I love you more than like good hospitality staff.
I love you more than, I think like the feeling of just like when you're feeling so like magnetic and memorable, like it's such a good, oh my god, it's such a good feeling when you go in somewhere once and people, they remember you. Oh my gosh. And if you're like, I don't have that. Okay, cool. What are you gonna do? Are you gonna fucking accept that shit or are you gonna change it? Like change it. Be like, I am memorable. Here are the reasons why I'm memorable.
Add that into your fucking aura, like fluff that out a bit and walk into a room and remember that. Alright. It also helps if you have like a nice big coat or like a nice little bag, like accessories help. It's like, you know when you get a Barbie and she comes with like her little accessories and they're really special. It's like that. It's like you are the Barbie. What are your accessories going to be? Uh, I'm feeling like a little chalky moment, so I love you more than that.
I don't know what I'm gonna get. We have like new work. Is it, is it Hagues or is it Hagues? Hagues. I think it's Hagues and I love they have these, what are they? Oh, I love loco love chocolate. But sometimes when I want actual real chocolate, it's the, I only like, I wanna say two. I only like milk chocolate. I don't like dark chocolate. Like it's okay. I like it if it's with something. So if it's like dark chocolate with ginger, yes.
But for the most part, I'm a child and I enjoy milk chocolate and I won't ever change. Um, they have or what are they? The, the pastels? Is that how you say it? Hagues Hague's favorite milk chocolate pastels. They are delicious, I like the milk chocolate with the peppermint, but they also have strawberry frogs, and they are delicious, so there's not strawberry filling in them. They're like strawberry flavored and it's so fucking good.
But I'm gonna go and I think I'm gonna buy myself like a little, like a sexy little treat. Maybe some, maybe some like little chocolate frogs, some strawberry chocolate frogs. Yeah. I love you more than that. I love you more than my, oh my God. My house smells so good at the moment. It was my birthday recently, and everyone just bought me like beautiful candles and fragrance, and my home smells fucking. Amazing. I smell amazing. I smell so good. Uh, I bought from the brand is Trued on.
This fragrance called la ELAE. It smells like, well look, if you ever smelled me, you'll be like, I wanna have sex with you. You smell so good. And that's exactly how I smell. So it's kind of like, I think it's like floral, amber. It's really funny because I went, my friend Emma, from the Broke Generation for my birthday, she bought tickets to this like tr on, uh, event where we, we got to look at this like fragrance reel and smell some stuff and we smelled this fragrance.
She's like, oh my God, that smells like you. And I'm like, yes. That's what I wear baby. And um, I love that. I think I love smell. Oh my gosh. I love it. Okay. I feel like I'm fading, guys. I'm fading. Isn't it funny? I'm like, I need a coffee. But the coffee's decaf. There's literally no caffeine in there. But I feel like the chocolate has caffeine and the chocolate has sugar, and that is all that matters. Hot stuff. I love this. I love you. Be fabulous. Be amazing. Be incredible.
Remember who the fuck you are, and I'll see you on the next episode. No.
