Happy Monday, hotties. We are back. We had a week off the podcast because I was smacked in the face with a sinus infection, but I'm back. I'm here. I've missed you so much. I've also got a new laptop. Oh my gosh. The quality of the video is a lot better. We're still on headphones because I have misplaced my mind, but I was not going to let that stop me. Okay. Because we're back and you need this episode. I went for a walk yesterday.
I was thinking about moving into my co working space when I first moved in there, we're talking three years ago. The reason this popped up is I literally have approached my three year anniversary of being there. And I was thinking about everything that kind of happened at the start and all of the feedback that I got and how I can look back. And don't you ever just wish that you would do things completely differently?
And not as in, I wish I did like my business differently, but I wish that I would have responded to situations completely differently. And what I want to talk about is a situation that happened where. When I went to a networking event, we had the speed networking. And I remember sitting down and saying to this guy, Oh, hi, I'm Peter. It's nice to meet you. My business is professional, babe. And he's like, yeah, I know who you are.
Don't you think that your brand and your marketing is a little thirsty? And that was the first thing that he said to me. And he was always hanging around with this group of two other guys. And when he said it, one of them just laughed and I'm like, Oh, okay. You've been talking about me. And. It was so interesting that I really took it to heart. It took me like a week or two to realize, Hey bitch, your branding is actually really good.
If they remembered everything about you, they mightn't like it, but it works. And you know, as I was on my walk yesterday, thinking about the situation, it got me thinking that if you want a standout brand, if you want to do something that hasn't been done before, if you want to be the hottest innovative bitch that you are, if you want to bring so much youth flavor into what you're doing, people sometimes are not going to know what hit them.
Because we need to look at the fact that, you know, people are not going to know what hit them. They are just not. And especially if you have an online business, we need to just see how new business this is. In, in the history of business, in how long business has been around for, the fact that we can literally start a business, as my friend Sharon says, with a laptop and idea.
But you know, the fact that we can start a fucking business and that we can just make money right now, I'm sitting in, in bed, in my bra in the morning, recording a podcast, right? Like 10 years ago, that was not a thing. So I am not surprised that people are sometimes thrown when they look at what I do and they look at how I do it, and they do not know where to place me. So if that is you, I want you to see this as a good thing.
Now, I don't want you to fight that, because I think one of the worst traps that we can fall into is making ourselves like every other bitch. Where it's like, let me fit into this lineup. Let me try to convey this so you really understand it. Where it's like, why don't we just run with curiosity? And if someone is curious about our brand, they will just, you know, come along for the ride. They will just opt in.
And I swear this is why I do have really high uptake of people looking at my website and opting into my mailing list because they're like, we've never seen anything like this before. I'm curious. Wow, she is a business coach and consultant and she has wet dreams on the front of her page. I want to know more.
So this is where for you, I have a little personal challenge for you this where if you are someone that feels like that, You have this, like, block where it's, I have to stop what I'm doing because I have to really communicate and be so fucking crystal clear that everyone knows what I'm doing. I want you to just fuck that off for a second, okay? Because I reckon sometimes when people completely understand what we're doing, it's so bland. It is just so bland.
Now, there are going to be people that disagree with me here and isn't this wonderful with life? We all had the same opinions, how fucking boring would that be? But, you know, I would challenge you to just lean into this and make whatever you're doing a bit more U shaped. You know, don't feel as though that you need to fit in. That, you know, someone needs to look at what you're doing and they need to understand you and be like, yes, she is this. Yes. She is that.
Because again, there is a chance, especially if you're listening to this podcast that you are doing something unconventional that you don't have a business where people look at it and they're like, Oh yes, she's an accountant. Oh, she's a lawyer. Oh, she's a doctor. You are doing whatever the hell you want. You are doing your own career.
And here are to the people here is to the people when you are, you know, getting a new bank account or you're doing something and you've got that little fucking drop down menu where it's like, what is your industry? And you can't find what you're doing because that is when you know that you are doing something so innovative that people, when they talk about you, when they talk about your business. You know, you're in a league of your own. You are not in a lineup with all of these other people.
You are doing your own thing. You are very much in your own lane. And I see this as a good thing. Okay? Now, of course, we don't want people to be so damn confused that no one ever gives us money because they don't know what we're doing. But I see it as a good thing. Especially if basic. If you have basic people in your life that are looking at what you're doing and they're like, I don't get it. I don't understand it. Like, what is this?
I don't know, Tracy, open your fucking eyes and maybe read the sales page, right? Like, babe, it's here. I've written it down. But, you know, if people are like, wow, this is, this is different. Okay. I've never seen something like this before. I see this as a good fucking thing. I see this as the greatest thing ever. So this week, I want you to lean into it. We're going to lean into this a little bit more. And if someone is like, Oh, wow, what is this? What does this mean?
Don't ever see their questions as them questioning you. Okay. Don't ever see when someone is unsure about what you're doing. that, that, you know, you need to like feel that this is against you. They are simply asking questions. They are not questioning your worth. They are not, you know, making out that what you're doing isn't super clear. It just means that they are so, so curious. So hopefully this found other people. that it needed to find.
And as always, you know when you usually have a conversation or something pops up and you're like, yeah that doesn't apply to me, and then the next day it just smacks you in the face and it's like, actually bitch it does. So this is where we get to practice, you know, leaning into what is us, staying in our lane, and if someone is just so confused by what we do and they're like, I just don't get it, you know, Oh, I don't, I don't, I don't understand. Oh, who are your clients?
Oh, who do you work with? You know, don't see that as criticism, you know, just, just be fucking your fabulous self and just keep showing up when we have a unique brand. Sometimes that can take people a little bit of a second to just. I think adjust to what we're doing and adjust to how we're doing it. And it means that we're doing something in such a unique way. You know, I know with give good email.
I can look at the fact that no one, there is no one on the planet that makes email as sexy as I do. And let me tell you that people had really strong opinions about this. Who will this work with? Who will like it? And guess what? So many people did. And I feel that I have gotten a completely new segment interested in email marketing that never would have been interested in it before. And this to me is so good because I know how much this benefits a business.
You know, the people that were doing it and one of the guys that said all this to me, guess what? Guess what his business was? It was email marketing. He did email marketing. So of course he did not know where to put me because he was so used to doing something in a particular way and we're here to make things fun and sexy and super interesting. So I've loved this. I've loved this heaps. I love you more than the fact that I'm not blowing my nose every five fucking seconds.
Um, I love you more than the fact that my nose is a little bit red, but it's not as red as it has been. love you more than my new laptop, which is really sexy. I did get like the darker one. I think it's like, is it space gray? I don't know if I'd get that again.
If you are in the market for a new laptop, I think I'd go silver, because like, not that I have that grotty little fingers, because I wash my hands all the time, I'm really pedantic with that, but there's, it looks like there's definite finger marks, like it looks like I've really fingered the fuck out of this laptop, and I'm like, how dirty are my fingers? Like, where is this coming from? So anyway, Um, if you want a fingered looking laptop, go with the dark one.
But if you don't want it to look fingered, maybe go with the silver. So anyway, hotties love this. Love you. See you in the next episode.
