You're listening to The Buck Sexton Show podcast, make sure you subscribe to the podcast on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, welcome to the Buck Sexton Show. We have much to discuss, including a great week in the Supreme Court for liberty and the Constitution, but it's also a reminder of how insane the left has gotten and how much they really do want totalitarianism.
We'll discuss plus rfk Junior very good on COVID. Where is he on other issues like affirm of action, which also was in the Supreme Court decisions this week? We shall address that, and then, because it is Independence Day weekend, the greatest Independence Day weekend films of all time, as in the best ones to see over Independence Day weekend or the ones that have some kind of an actual tie into Independence Day weekend. We'll get into all that here coming up in just a second. Let's talk about
the Supreme Court decisions, the biggest one of action. But then also you had a religious freedom case in Colorado
and Biden's giveaway on student loans gets shot down. Let's start with the affirmative action competiti this for a moment, the most important thing with this is to just look very clear, forget all the noise, forget the talking points, forget what people on the left and the Democrats and the establishment and all that say about this, and just lean forward yourself, look at what's going on, and come
to the most obvious conclusion. Racial discrimination is wrong. Looking at someone's skin color and making any determination about them whatsoever is wrong. Giving someone a benefit because of their skin color wrong. Taking away a benefit because of a skin color wrong. You should just look at people as people. If the equal protection clause of the Constitution is to have any meaning, it should be that. Right. Is the
most straightforward thing imaginable. There's all this talk you'll see, and it was in the this is a six '
to three decision. Right. That's striking down for UNC Chapel Hill and also or the UNC system and Harvard University, the system that they had that was discriminating specifically against Asians, which I think made this also very clear because the Democrats talk about this and they say, well, what about the legacy of slavery and the oppression by law of blacks after slavery was finally abolished, and all of that is true, All that was wrong and it was a
stain on this country's history. But it hasn't been the case for a long time. And affirmative action goes well beyond issues of black and white individuals applying to college. It also affects Hispanics, they get points, they get a benefit from it. It affects Asians, they get negative points, if you will, They get treated also as though as though Asian is an ethnicity. Think about how obtuse that is.
This actually came up in I believe it was the Robert's opinion of the court, the notion that in Asian is in Asian when you're talking for the purposes of college admissions, when you're including in that massive land mass, someone from South Korea is treated as being, you know, for all intents and purposes of college admission, very similar to somebody from Pakistan. Right, someone from Kazakhstan is in the same category as somebody from Vietnam, somebody from China,
somebody from India. I mean, you start to look at this and you say, that's just completely insane. The difference is you find people that are as different as any groups of people around the world. Under Asia as an overall overarching concept, it's absurd. What the left has been doing is wrong, and everybody knows it. But now they're upset about it. Now it's all, oh, but what about
all the discrimination that's going to continue? You there's also the perception that was rooted in the reality that anybody of a certain ethnicity who graduated from the most elite colleges may well have receive tremendous benefit in the application process. And that means that people look at them and they think differently. Right, if you see a Native American who went to Harvard, you think to your look at Elizabeth Warren faking being a Native American? Why did she do that?
Right so she could teach at Harvard. But you look at somebody who's Native American and you say to yourself. A lot of people would say to themselves, I wonder what that person actually got in the SATs. I wonder what benefit he or she may have gotten in the application process. And what's fascinating is that the left say how dare you? And you say, well, how dare I?
Is that what's going on or not? You see what they want to do is they want to change standards because they say it is necessary to change standards, but were not allowed to point out that they're changing standards. And this is the game they play at a whole range of different things. They do this also with the military with male and female. Right, we're not changing the standards so that women can be in combat roles. They
always end up changing the standards. And then when you say you guys are changing the standards, you know what they do? They say, why are you a bigot? Or why are you a sexist? Or you're a bad person because they can't win on the argument because it's emotional for them. It's the political tribalism of my side wants to do this, so it doesn't matter what's true. I have to push for my side. That is their approach to this full stop. That is the full on reality.
So I think it's important that we understand what's really going on here. Affirmative action is not done and over with as a result of this. Harvard has already pointed out that there's some loophole they're going to try to use here of people writing about their battles with racism.
And this is what I would advise for people applying to colleges all across the country now who for elite schools in particular, slightly less of an issue for schools that have a sixty or seventy percent acceptance rate, right, but for schools that have a three percent or five percent acceptance rate or whatever. My advice would be, come up with a narrative that will work. Talk about your struggles with racism. It doesn't matter what race you are,
how they're gonna know. Just come up with something. Come up with some story. Use this as an opportunity to get into the gears of this discriminatory system and bring the whole thing to a halt. Because if they're going to say, well, now you don't have to submit your SATs, don't submit your SATs, and talk about your struggles with whatever whatever you think is is gonna work. They can't
get inside your head. That's what this is all about anyway, because they're telling you very clearly, well, you know, what's more important that you got great grades and we're a leader in your class and or a you know, a stellar athlete, et cetera, et cetera, or you check a box for us that allows us to have more diversity
in the classroom. Either play the system or let the system play you So I think people should game the system for college admissions now and every way they can without fully crossing ethical lines as in forging transcripts or anything like that. You can't do that. But you're talking about an essay. You can talk about your struggles with you know whatever, or you had to overcome you know,
you know who's gonna see this as college admissions. Commuite be like I was struggling with my gender identity and I finally whatever, Right, all of a sudden, you have some guys, you know, the captain of the ice hockey team or something. It was like, Yeah, I struggle with my gender identity a lot in high school, but now
I'm at Now I'm at Yale, So who cares? Right, That's the only way that I see this really going away is you have to bring You have to really use Sawolynski style tactics, use the tactics of the enemy against the enemy. Mess up the system, do what you can to bring the whole thing to it. Because it's wrong, and we know it's wrong. It's been declared unconstitutional. This
isn't just a theory anymore. This is the reality of what's happening all across the country in college admissions, and we also have to see that it extends beyond college omissions to hiring. You should not be able to hire somebody or give preference in hiring because of skin color or anything else, you know, gender identity, you name it. That shouldn't be legally either. It's a violation of the
fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution. Now some of these are going to have to be adjudicated further in the courts, that's for sure, but the principle has been established and it's clear who's on the right side of this one, and it's not the Libs. It's not the libs. JFK Junior did nine push ups everybody, Sorry RFK Junior, pardon me, nine pushups? Everyone freaked out. Guy's shirtless and jeans. Like I've been saying, doesn't like what's in the vaccines, But
what else is this guy taking? Just putting it out there. But people are telling me, Oh, he's great, He's talking about all these things that make so much sense. I've like some of what he said, to be clear, and I've been consistent on that. He's excellent on the vaccine, a COVID vaccine issue and COVID lockdowns, said some smart things about the border to send, some reasonable things about gun control as well. But where is he on affirmative action and what does that tell us about his philosophy.
We'll get to that in a second. For those of you who are AREFK junior fans, you're gonna want to stay around for this one. Look, these days have the longest daylight hours of the year, so much can get done if you have the energy, right, But you got to have that energy, and for a lot of people that starts to become harder as you get older because you're just biochemistry is different. So that's why you should
try Chalk's Male Vitality Stack. This awesome nutritional supplement has a leading ingredient that's proven to effectively replenish testosterone levels for men. That's essential because that's the inner fuel that provides our energy and so much else. It's a simple equation. Higher testosterone levels equals more energy, drive and focus. Chalk understands that some studies show the average guy today has only fifty percent of the testosteron of guys fifty years ago.
It's diminished a lot. But yeah, sure, diet, stress, environmental factors is a lot going on there, but the leading ingredient in Chalk's male Vitality Stack replenishes twenty percent testosterone in just three months time. Sign up with Chalk today it's spelled choq dot com say thirty five percent off when you use my name Buck in your purchase process. That's thirty five percent off for the life of your subscription, not just one time. Chalk Cchoq dot com use the
name Buck for thirty five percent off. All right, Look, so so r you know RFK Junior Like, I saw the push up video and everything else, and I like that people are hearing a different perspective from a Democrat. But I'm here to say he's still a Democrat. Now, maybe we can get him to come a little bit more on the side of the righteous and the conservative and the right wing here, but he's still a Democrat.
And you see this with his recent Oh, people can get mad at me, but I called this from the beginning. I said, guys, people say, oh, he should run with Trump and there's a unity ticket here. I say, hold on a second run with Trump? What does he think about a whole range of things, right, not even just one or two things. What do you think about a whole range of things. Well, we shall see here he
is in the aftermath of the affirmative action decision. He wrote on Twitter regarding the Supreme Court banning affirmative action and higher ed. I know many Americans feel that purely race based decisions are unfair. However, this feeling misses important context. The effects of racist policies going back centuries are now self perpetuating. Affirmative action understands this and uses race based
policies to undo the effects of racist policies. Colorblind admissions tend to favor those who are already in the circle of privilege, favors those who grew up in affluent, educated households. Wouldn't you like to invite in those who have been left out in the cold. He's just wrong on this, He's just wrong. I don't know how else to say it more clearly than that this is an incorrect take
on what the realities of affirmative action really are. Because, as I've said, Asians pay the price for including recent Asian immigrants, pay the price for what America did one hundred years ago, on hundred and fifty years ago. Really, that's how we're gonna go Yeah, that's that's the way
this goes. Now, new African immigrants to this country get the benefit of affirmative action if you come here from Nigeria, for example, if you come to America from from Ghana or Zimbabwe or South Africa, or you know, wherever you as applying here, get the benefit of affirmative action as
a black person applying to you know, to college. Obviously are non black people in Africa too, but assuming you actually are black, you get the benefit of affirmative action even though you would have experienced no discrimination in per se, right, I mean, that's not something you usually think about the context of black Africans in Africa. They're usually not experiencing in the countries that I'm naming, certainly, you know, any more discrimination. So then how can you justify this? Well,
you can't because it makes no sense. Why do Hispanics get so much affirma of action because there's not enough of them in the elite schools. Well, the Supreme Court had said for a long time, we can't have quotas. Quotas are not okay because quotas clearly show that there's a tremendous weight put on superficial skin color diversity. So what they did is they said, okay, well you can have a quota, but you can basically have a stealth quota.
You know, you you can have a holistic application process or whatever where you can look at a whole range of factors. That's just an invitation for quotas by another name. And that's what we've had. That's what they've done. They've got they've got to make sure they get the numbers they want to get, and so they pretend that they're looking at things holistically. But you know, RFK Junior is wrong on this one. He's just wrong on this one. Now, it's okay to be wrong on a few things. Everyone's
wrong on a few things. I mean, I'm even wrong once in a very very rare while. But I just think it's important to note that he's a Democrat, my friends, and that means that our whole range of issues, he sees the world differently than conservatives do. Now, we can praise him for the areas where he is sound, reasonable, rational,
agrees with us. Those things usually all go together, but it doesn't mean that we should overlook the fact that if you want him to be president, right, if someone says hey, Buck, we should listen to r FFK Junior more on public safety. When it comes to vaccines and the FDA and everything, I say, yeah, great, absolutely, let's hear him out. Let's let's look at these things that he's talking about. Right, I don't I don't have deep
expertise in vaccines that don't pretend to. I know the COVID vaccine was preposterous compared to what they said it would be able to do. I know that they should have never mandated it. That was totalitarian, and I know that RFK Junior saw that. So I'm with him on those things. But when people are saying, well, I think I might vote I mean Republicans are saying I might vote for him for president, I go w wehll well,
Hold on a second, Hold hold on a second. Where is he on the economy, Where is he on the pro life issues? Where is he on you know, you go down the list. He's a Democrat. He's probably on the wrong side of most of those issues. I would I would guess. I don't know, but I'm not sure he really knows. Maybe he's transitioning, there's that word more to our side. So we shall have to see but a little skepticism of some of these things I think
always serves us well. Talk about the best movies for Independence Day weekend, give you something fun to think about for the weekend as we head out. The value for life savings and retirement accounts is dependent in part on our stock market. Take into account what affects our stock market performance, and just think, do you want to put all your marbles in one basket? Not the way to do it. This is from the Twitter handle All the Right Movies thirty four years ago. Today. I do think as a movie standalone, it is the best of the Indiana Jones trilogy. Now I get it.
Some of you are gonna say, how dare you turn your back on on the Raiders of a Lost Ark, which started the whole thing, which was a great movie. I would argue that Indiana Jones the first three forget about the it's only three. We don't even talk about the other ones. Indiana Jones, the first three movies are it's among the best four or five trilogies ever made, one of the among the best because even Temple of Doom is very watchable for what it is, very watchable film.
But that's a great and it's a fantastic you know popcorn movie. Go with the family, Go on the weekends. I mean, they used to make these great movies. They don't really make them like this anymore. But I was thinking about Independence Day weekend movies, things released like this was released right before Independence Day, things released on it.
And also that have to do with it. If you're talking about something that is in the Independence Day genre, well there's Independence Day, the movie with the Aliens, which is which is a fun. Look, I'm just gonna it's a fun watch. It's preposterous, but it's a fun watch. Not just preposterous because the alien invasion thing, I can, I can suspend disbelief on that one. But just the way the whole movie moves along, it's kind of but it's fun. I like it. I'm not hating on it.
You know, Pullman and Smith do a very good job. Jeff Goldbloom is, isn't he it? Yeah, Jeff gold blooms in it. Jeff Goldbloom. But it's very good. And then what else do I have on the list here? The Patriot, Mel Gibson. Great watch for Independence weekend, Jaws. Think about it that Jaws has a whole Fourth of July subplot to it. Right, They're gonna keep the beaches open of
the fourth of July because they need to. So, if we're looking at all in the best, I think that if it's a movie that was released, I'm sorry, a movie that has to do with Independence Day, Jaws is probably the best. Also, I want you to be clean shaven and get the best shave possible wherever you go. So that's why.
