Episode description

Shark attacks are at a ten year high in Australia. We’re only halfway through the year and we’ve already seen 18 attacks, 4 of those in the past 5 weeks. 5 of these attacks have been fatal, when the average is usually 1.8 deaths per year.

On today's episode we're joined by Dr Vanessa Pirotta: wildlife scientist, marine biologist and last week’s shark attack victim who loves sharks. Our other guest is Dr Vincent Raoult, a marine ecologist at the University of Newcastle.

Today's news headlines:

  • Covid-19: We’ll be paying off the budget hit for 30 years
  • More than half of Victorians not isolating while waiting for Covid-19 test results
  • US President Donald Trump asks Americans to wear masks in major backflip

In today's Briefing we ask: Why there has been a spike in shark attacks in Australia? What are the best approaches to deal with this?
