The group — Paul Applebaum (vocals, guitar, chief songwriter), Johnny Lank (bass), Barry Tatelman (saxophone), Gail Winnick (vocals), Sandy Winslow (drums, percussion) — sidestepped MGM’s “Bosstown Sound” circus when they signed with Detroit-based Mainstream Records.
