There. It is what it is, are is a e Welcome to the show. God damn it. We let cap podcast a new addition, new episode. You know, we're getting close to episode one hundred, and I'm gonna probably call in on my good friend Freddy Gibbs to try to come on episode one hundred. I don't know if he's I mean, he'll he'll do it if I ask, but you know he was on episode one. Gotta do episode one hundred. Listen, we got a dope fucking episode today with Isaiah Rashad all right, one of my favorite rappers
in the last like seven or eight years. Obviously we get music from him seldomly, but his new album is Fucking Fire, representing TDE. This conversation went off the rails, for sure. It got interesting. There was even some things we took out, you know what I'm saying. A couple of things were just like, you know, let's take that out. You know. But probably the reading the YouTube comments and all the fans are saying it's the best interview he's done. You say, it's like one of the one or two
best interviews Isaiah SHOT's done. We just fucking clown on each other and we obviously we talking about the music, but we get into a lot of other cool shit. Man, so hey, shout out to our sponsors, odd Socks, don't forget to go to odd socksofficial dot com and get you some of the craziest socks in the game. They got all the licenses, street Fighter, fucking Hooters, Pepsi, it's our patch kids, wwe whatever you need, they got it. Odd Socksofficial dot Com. Get you some socks, get you
some underwear. Use the keyword though, this is the important part, because you're gonna say twenty percent off at checkout if you use the keyword bootleg keV. That's one word altogether, bootleg keV at checkout, save twenty percent off. Let's get into the interview with Isaiah Rashad. All right, man, look, Bootleg keV Show Special guests. Finally we got a new
album from this guy. I feel like every time I've ran into you for the last you know, X amount of years, I'm like, yo, what's up with the music? What's up with the music? Man? We need it, we need it. Finally we're here. We're here now, and congrats on just the success of the album and the tour man. We're just talking the tours and sold the funk out man.
It's news to me. But congrats bro. You know, I think a misconception that a lot of people make, including myself, is that the delay for your new music was a TD thing, but it was really on you, like you you weren't done. Yeah, I mean it's about like can we turn it in start rolling? You can't change it, so you got to take your time going back and forth. Motherfuckers, you know what I'm saying, going back with your homies and all that, and it's whenever I want to do it.
Can we get you closer to the mic? I'm like seeing cook over there turning it up. So for you, like you know, personally, what did you go through since the last album? Like, because you know, to take that much time away, I'm sure you had to get reinspired. Was there personal stuff you had to get through the kind of put yourself into another creative place to want
to do an album. I guess I'm always recording stuff and because I just like doing this ship and so we always have like a batch of songs and from from time to drop the weed, from time to time party, from from time to time, you like hear a song and it's like this sound like an album track, so you put it aside, and then that shit just happens over months, and then after a while you get to a point where you're like, okay, I got five or
six songs that really sound like it's an album. Was like, okay, maybe it sound for me to start making an album that's happy. How many like the pull of songs that you had to pull from to like pick from the album because call them songs, I call them ideas. Yeah, so it'd be like songs maybe like twenty like scratches, maybe like one hundred, so like a hundred ideas or a hundred like attempts to like get something going it's
doing in the studio. I used to take like those sessions eight hour or twelve hours sessions, and you should, man, I need to make a song every time. And it was like, no, get off as many ideas as you can in the studio. You gotta go back to the studio. You might as well go back with something almost partially formulated, something that you like, just finish that ship. Yeah, that's how it happens. Talk about just kind of the evolution from album to album for you sonically, like where where
do you? Because I feel like each album has kind of been an evolution of like, you know, your first project tape whatever we're calling Sylvia, Sylvia. Yeah, whatever we're calling Sylvia. That was that an album? Take it was? It was? It was. It was a classic, is what it was. Thank you? But I call it it's a demo to me for real, because it was the first fourteen full songs that I made. Man top Hic went through this thing where I sent him stuff and I guess at the time I didn't realize it and he
didn't realize it. They would just scratched ideas and I sent him back to see what really, like, what do you want me to do to it? Or what do you think of your type of shit? And but I hadn't went beyond that stage till Sylvia. And that was me getting inspiration from everything that I like, had been around and liked them, and I was emulating at the time from everybody from Outcaster Tyler Scarf, Wayne and all that shit, and then the Sunstarae is me trying to
filter out those influences. But I still like that sound and I used to think that I had to change sound from album to album, and I'm like, I mean, like all my favorite artists, soul singers, classic shit, jazz shit, I'm like, they make different variations of these ship. But after a while they started making like a subgenre from that, and I'm like, I want to do that. So I tried that, Like I started building on that with the A and then this one was like less, like it
was even more filtered out of other influences. It was like me just really just doing my shit. So this is like more like my sound. It sounds like you identify my sound off this like versus the last project. Producers would just send me like a jazzy beat because that was like the stereotype. I feel like now this one they'll understand kind of more for right right right right, Yeah, No, Like Yo, that Isaiah Vershaw type beat on YouTube definitely has to be jazzy. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying.
Like this album definitely there's more bounce to it. There's more you know what I'm saying, losing that ship without losing what people love you for. That was important to me. Yeah, And I also think too, like some of the features you picture this album are dope like Jay Worthy's dope, like super Underrated Duke is dope. Like what was like, uh for you? Like you know, having for people who you know, you're you're, you're, you have a cult following? Yeah,
you know what I'm saying. People are like, wait, people have been waiting for this album, So how careful were
you with like who made the album? I try to I try to trust my gut on I guess knowing that there's a cored like there's a cult following, and I think even inside that quoto there's a chord amount of them that like understand me how I feel like I understood the artists I like growing up and like so they got patience not just in time, but like with experimenting with so thety there for the journey like
ten ten projects deep type of ship. And then there's other ones who have an idea of me respects them. But I had to bypass that and think about, man, I want I want, I want to talk to some new people. I want to I want to get to know some new people when we go, not just to not to say the same people, but I don't want to bring necessarily the exact same crowd so that went into it. And I also like knew that, like when I put my stuff out it was gonna for good
or bad, it was gonna get some attention. And I was like, why not share with people I like doing this shit with Red to the Rip who did the artwork, to the homies me and already picked the tracks, and the features were just all the homies organic and or people who I looked up to and reached out a network.
Was there was there anything that like almost made the album that didn't make the album maybe feature that came into late or a record that like maybe the everything almost didn't make the album, it didn't make it, you know what I'm saying, Like like like was there something that didn't make it that was like because maybe the sample didn't get cleared last minute? Anything that didn't make it is probably because it's sample or because it wasn't finished.
That's fair. Everything is like interchangeable, like I was trying to go for to me like a steady seven eight if I was judging it off my head, for everyone else, like every individual, so something like married ship right right, And I always when I played it back, I'm like, Okay, this is as long as ain't no six in there, and it's a at average seven eight. I know, if you don't like it, you just don't like it. And if you like it, you gonna love it. And that ship.
That's how it just went about the whole project. Yo. I randomly went to Chattanooga, like and when we were in Atlanta to shoot a music video with my artists because my friend's family has like a farm in the middle of Chattanooga Chattanog. I don't even know it's like outside of Chattanooga, but for Overthorp for it's like in the middle of the forest is where my boy's property is. But I was like, next time I see Isaiah, I gotta be like, man, I drove through Chattanooga, did you
eat anything like some fast food? So I'm just mad that when you came up you had me come up here and talk about chatting and you brought up Chattanoo that you said that the only thing you can describe it was it was forest. It was just a lot of trees. And then now nobody's gonna understand what chattering. Well, listen, it's if you're in Atlanta. Ever, it's a hop, skip and a jump, you know, it was like a two hour drive is a two hours Yeah, bring bring Chattanooga
some tourism. What what what is there to do there outside of have great Southern food? And what I did was, I mean, we just did ship in the and we just I'm like, it's chill. I mean, it's an aquarium. It's an aquarium. Aquarium, this is zoo. It's good for the kids, good for fam you know what I'm saying. Don't bring your bullshit to chat. Bring your family the chat. It's a family town, family town, good place to race of family. If you're doing that, yeah, that's fair. You
and Kenny Beats got a crazy chemistry. I think Kenny is probably the most underrated producer in hip hop. When we just when we when we talk about like the beat has his following's insane shot the twitch because those twitch people are they're a different type of dedicated. But but he's he's a beast. Talk about your guys is just you know, chemistry and how did that relationship start? And ken't even knowing each other for probably like five years.
And when he first started seeing me Beats or playing me beats, I ain't like none of them and they were like similar to the ones that he made right right now, but like they weren't exactly of the same. He hadn't had I guess whatever lessons that he got to get here, he didn't have those all the way. But then I heard his ship with Key Project and I was like, damn, I want something mind you. I only know Kenny. I wasn't think about Kenny beats because I don't even think Rory had introduced me to him
like that, right, And it was like a while. So when I'm like, bro, I want to get some beats from Kenny Bees, He's like, I'm like, that's Kenny, Like yeah, So I went and saw Kenny on the Humble and I came back and I'm like, can you help me? And then that's wild he was he fucked with my ship, so he was enthuseday, and like, dude, the ship. We both tourists, so it'd be a challenge. It's a tourist connection, Yeah, I guess. I guess it's more like we both like
a challenge. Talk about this record with Uzzi. Man Uzzi's obviously, Uh, he's kind of like a walking enigma. I feel like he's kind of like a real life like this he put up to the music video like that. I don't doubt I thought. I've seen him twice and I think the first time I seen him, we were at the Hip Hop Awars for rehears was like twenty sixteen, and he was like that, but he was way more like bouncy.
He's still bouncy. It was like like super young. And now it's like it's like you just knew he came into the room. It's kind of crazy. It was kind of it's some real I ain't never been nobody like that. It's type though. You know, I think he's got like an aura. There's very few people that have been around that I feel like they have like an aura that you like, Let's say he's a professional. I mean, yeah, it seems like a professional. He's not a nice kid too.
He's not on like some weirdo like rapper shit, you know what I'm saying. Definitely professional on this album that you've had, Like I feel like on your your last two projects, you had in some vulnerable moments, like records like Heavenly Father. I don't feel like we got as much of that on this project. Was there wrapped around other shit. It's sitting there. It just wrapped this shit. I said, like, don't shoot, I say all heard for me.
It's like it's it's it's just like poetry, but it's a lot of shit and there's a lot of like all herb is really about. All this shit is about emotional like breakups and all that type of shit. It's just wrapped in stuff that it's more about you feeling it. And if you're a nerd, you're gonna figure it out, you know what I'm saying. Like I like I said, used the word likely like I was, you know what
I'm saying writing that ship down, deciphering this ship. But if you just want to listen to music, yeah, and I try to design the music to be like that. Did you go through did you go through a breakup? Since since we're on the album no, no, I mean know you just said that record is about, you know, some breakup ship. I mean it's that's the vibe. You know, you go through bad, you go through qualms in your relationships, you go through ups and downs and you feel them.
I don't to write something out like da da da dad, you hurt my feelings. Just happened. That happened, makes it more in the moment versus how like I actually felt. Okay, the way I write it is about how I felt, not exactly what was going on. No, that's fair. Yeah, sometimes yeah that's fair. You know, you and Sissa, I feel like TD diehards. We always kind of like associate you too. Is like, you know, we're always waiting for new music from Sissy and from Isaiah Rashad. Right, we've
been waiting for what Sissa dropping twenty seventeen. It's been a while since Control dropped, but I feel like you're still in the charts. It might be it was fucking one of the best albums in the last decade, for sure, But I feel like you two are are kind of like obviously there's the core TD members and then there's Isaiah Shot and Scissa, and for whatever reason, we always have to wait very long times to get music from
both of you guys. We came after like the Four Horsemen or whatever the fuck, you know what I'm saying, right, and like after Black Hippie, and that expectation is pretty high. Well, especially I think for her being like some R and B soul pop type of shit, like she knew she had to like diversify her so and not only separated itself from like the boys, from all the girls. So her ear and her critique for herself is hiring for me. I just didn't want to sound like them without getting
the same respect. So yeah, I think like when it's Jay Rock, ab sol Q and Kendrick and you're the you're like the first rapper, I feel like kind of got brought on after this initial success. No matter what you do, you're gonna get compared to and critique and
countrigue to the highest level. And like, you know, even like like you know, with with the reason, you know, like reason no matter what, Like people compare Reason to Kendrick and I'm like, they don't tell, but he'd be rapping because he could rap just because you know what I'm saying, that's not a lot of people can rap,
you know what I mean? But was that like that like how much of getting over that hump with the TD ship and just kind of earning those fans where they saw you as Isaiah as opposed to like, is this the new Kendrick? Like I think it's happening right now? Do you think it's finally? I feel like right now, like this album you're kind of separate. Yeah, does it feel good? I like, I'll just be seeing it. What have you seen that's that's made you feel like like
like finally that moment's come. It's like the way people seem to appreciate it where they come come about it. I don't even see people mention them in my comings, like I'm sorry, I don't see people mention them like in a comparison way in the comments where I'm sure previously that probably happened a lot. It was like a lot of Kendrick sometimes rock, but like that was it and it but it was light though back then. So I knew that they had appreciation for my music then,
but now it's like it's just me. So we're like like when you go back and like, how often do you go back and listen to the Sylvia Project because I feel like that's still into it. Like the day the album came out, like this album, did you just go through the whole discography? Yeah? That's how somebody doing it on Twitter, So I was like, let me just do it. Yeah, how does that feel that like listening to it now because I still feel like that's one
of the more underappreciated albums. I was like, Nah, you're crazy, bro. I was like, man, I'm like, this is really slow and moody. I hear all everything that I used to get contigued about. I hear it. Now you hear it. You feel like finally you you're in your pocket. Like fully, like as far as like I'm just learning, I go up the projects, not like necessarily like the years or the time, because it's about the result, showing food type
of ship. So I'm like, this is my third project, like the fourth one should be I'm like, this is my third one. If I do six and I'm keeping the same makes a versation for myself to six, like that should be crazy? Respectfully, how late? How long are we gonna have to wait until the fourth one? I mean I was rapping yesterday, so you know, but like you know, there's gonna be like four years. I'm better
at finishing songs now, so definitely not four years. Maybe, like who knows, maybe next year, maybe not, maybe two years from now, maybe not that's fair. I don't know. Yeah, he's I have no fucking idea. I got he had a hard draw full of music and if they decided to be like, yo, let's put out an album. I'm not gonna necessarily be like no, right, right, right, right, right right. Did you see the new tattoo that Anderson pack he got tattooed? Don't put my ship out pretty much? Yeah,
first of all, pretty wild thing to get tattooed. But how do you like, how do you feel about that? Like if you were, if you would unfortunately pass away, don't put it out music, but just not an output album. Don't put it under a thing making it like as a music. Okay, so put it out, just not as a body of work. Edit it, don't finish the songs, put everything out. Yeah. I think we just saw that with like Pop Smoke, Like were the first Pop Smoke album after he passed. You could tell where like songs
that he had like actually wanted to come out. And then this last album you could tell they threw some ship together and it's like if it's feeding a family, I understand that, respectfully. Put out my scratches man, like some art ship. Seeing how the process goes. People might appreciate that in a different level, like some untitled on the master Ship more you mentioned earlier when you were growing up, there are certain artists that you just kind
of like thought you knew everything about that. You you and you have fans like that, a very small core of your fans that feel that way about you. Who are those artists for you? Though? Growing up master P, we paid Fiasco who else? Everything about okay, both of them. I don't know why. I used to read all those fucking magazines dude and me too, XXL source all that ship one Wikipedia before Nigga knew Wikipedia was and all that type of ship did you go look up lyrics
and ship like? I used to always go, like when when the Internet first became accessible to me, I would go, like, on the there was like those lyrics sites you go before genius. I would people, I don't know what you're talking about. Then there'd be message boards where you like all kinds of like Yeah, I would go on there, and I realized that people were getting lyrics wrong. It's when I started listening to songs more than like I started. When I hear a song, I'll be doing the lyrics now. So, uh,
what is your favorite Cast album ever? Man? It flows between the first just because I like Southern Players and Cadillac Music. I like that one because how wrong and fresh. They were m hm. And but I like Equimini because it seemed like some prime rap ship, but then because it like was a glimpse of what they could do. I don't think there's really any songs that much bigger
than Bombs. I mean Bombs over back. That is, like I remember learning the lyrics of that song as a kid, like it's one of the that's one of those songs. I can sing that ship front to back, you know every fucking word, and it's a hard song to learn. Me and my homies like we all like we at school trying to figure out the fucking lyrics of that record. It was and that video writ andre running into fucking purple brass writing. They were making rap songs that were
like songs composing arts. There's a whole fucking guitar solo in that ship, Yeah, not for sure, And it was like some trippy ass like Tom Morello type guitars. Yeah. No, I'm an Equimini guy. Though. Equimini to me is like about as good as rap music, and I think it's usually just like the last three songs, they could have kept that Mama see, but could have kept that off the last three songs on probably all their projects together,
that's probably the best album. You think, the last three songs on equipment, every one of the albums from Southern Playlistic Eightiliens, Equiminik on that and and and the probably the last two if you take the last two or three from their solo is a piece. If you put them in the list, and I'm going off my own faith, I bet it's probably it ain't gonna be like a whole bunch of fucking singles, but it'll probably be like
the best ship to listen to. Mm hmmm. I think that what's crazy Liberations in there, Stank Loves and day Life of Andreas and there Life and them. I mean with a lot of ships in there, even elevators in there. Because they got the ninety six remix of that. Count that all of it you gotta count. I just I
wish I meant that. Like every time I think Outcast, it makes me miss physical packaging because I always remember in my CD book, I would have like four pages or four with titties every Yeah, they had eight aliens, had a little comic built in, but like every CD had a naked girl on it. Yo, that might have been might have got me in the comics bro eighty Aliens. Yeah, yeah, they had like the whole little comic because I was like six. Yeah, they stopped doing the nudity ship with
the leve below and speaker box. They broke the streak. Yeah, they broke the streak. What about Loupe, who I think is lyrically a fucking alien obviously? You know a couple of classics, uh rapping that tests ship tattoo on Youth Murals nine minutes straight, that one song. That song Murals is so crazy one though. You know what's crazy about the cool is I don't think it aged that well. Go watch Fire. I just re listened to the on a road trip like a few months ago, and there's
still some shit on there. There's like timeless, but it's like twenty songs. Bro. Yeah, there's just some shit on there that in the age as well as i'd hope do you kill six? And it's still like twelve of them. Moment I think it's still good. I like Food and Liquor the og leak though, are you really listening to American? Yeah? I am listening to American Yo. The American Terrorist three that wasn't on an album. That shit is crazy. I
never heard it. He's like he's like he's like rapping from the perspective of a soldier who's about to like blow up a building or something, and he's like writing his wife, you heard that, dude, It's fucking crazy, and like he's talking in code and ship to his girl, like I got I can only listen. I honestly only listen to Kim I mean Loup. Only listen to when I'm playing that video game. Hmm, that's good video game music. I feel like you could appreciate some like hardcore lyrical
ship while playing games. For some reason, a little bit more riding around the loop is like kind of not you know, it's for me. Yeah, it's a lot to think about, Like at the crib doing my ship zone out. I want to hear a good story. Well, you mentioned master P too. Master P was probably the first, like uh it was it was it was Snoop pocket master P for me as like a little kid that like really had me like obsessed about hip hop, and that
was like he look so independent. Ghetto dope was like amazing, and I had a no limit chain and then and then me and my my best friend Ramse just went into my dad's bedroom to grab the keys to his car, and like found crack in his drawer and we opened it. Like my boy ram was like, bro, that's that master P. And I was like, damn, my dad's smoking crack. Fucked up. He's good now, obviously he's good. I mean I think
he was more of a recreational crack smoker to be fair. Yeah, my dad was never like like putting this out over crack, but he I feld crack. My dad's George for sure, And then my mom confirmed later, Yeah, your dad had his little cracks cracked time, his cracked time. But no, master P, like man Ghetto Dope was fucking man amazing.
But but also master P is another one of them artists that like as a kid, I loved it, Like I still love a lot of his ship, but like the music, didn't hate say video, Oh yeah, the basketball. Mysticol was so bro mist cool quit catch charges, bro, Yeah he gotta stop raping bitches. What he gotta do. He's getting accused of getting off. He got now he didn't get off the first time. He didn't. Nah, But no, Mysticol was a fucking alien. I remember when I first heard myst the cool it was like, uh, was a
serial rapist we can't talk about? Yeah? Well, I mean, I mean yeah, allegedly, right, I think he's a singular rapist for sure. Sharp lifts, I don't know. Was he convicted of that? Sharp? He did a song. He did a song with Mark Ronson after he got out of jail. I can't imagine, No, I can't imagine Mark Ronson would do a song with him if he was out here. Really, I remember when Mark played it for us and Yo, you'll never guess what I got on the new song, Guys,
You'll never guess. And then he played it and mystical sound like James Brown, And I was like, this type sexual, sexual battery and extortion. Was he convicted? What was he convicted? It sounds like pimping. Sounds like pimping. It sounds like pimping and panderin. That's all good. You don't got to put the thing on there. Just you might want to flip that around though. Yeah, there you go, good content. Oh. He was forcing a hairstyle his hair, his hairstylist, and
he had some great braids. For see who was doing what forcing his hairstylists to perform sex acts. Well, you know, Mystical's hair was on point, though, what you mean though she didn't a job? His grades were Listen, I don't want you to. We're not trying to get you canceled. Isaiaha shotut today. I'm not gonna get count No. I appreciate this guy said, he said, my name's been in and I'm not in it. I'm over here, you know, I'm over here trying to figure it out too. It's like,
what the fuck? Man, oh man, uh yo? Do you have Do you have any sort of update on Scissor's project or, like, have you heard a lot of her music she's sitting on. Can you give us any sort of window into like what that sounded like? Can we get this or that? Is it good? Is it bad? Is it? I mean, you haven't heard any unreleased music? Two songs? Okay, how are the two songs you've heard? So you think Sissy has a bad two songs? No,
I don't think has got any bad music. I think she's trying to figure out I'm a power of gold, which was the shiniest that's fair? Mm hmm. You fuck with you feel me? Sometimes? I want to do the Lebron thing, but I'm not athletic enough. Yeah, who is your basketball team? Being from Tennessee, I would love if the Grizzlies one, But I'm more of like I think a lot of teams fail because of the coaching staffs. I'm not a basketball expert, so I'm more of a player.
So who's your guys for the past eight years, I'm not new to this true Janni's Kawhi fuck with Chris Paul said it had to be him. I'm a Son's fan, so let's not even you know what I'm saying. Katie love Russell as of late Russell Dame step all this ship and Lebron Lebron he gets his love praise. He hasn't played my song. I've been waiting for him to pull that. He's in the back of the car and he starts senior ship with me. He listens to everything.
Lebron James has like the most like eclectic taste in rap music, like future one day and the next day it's like fucking Griselda album cut I feel me. Yeah, It's like it's this kid, He's just playing his kids, playing this bro. You think it's just you think it's a kid. I don't think his kids. Listening to Benny the Butcher, I'm about to say, I'm thirty four, Bro, Relax, you young kid, I'm thirty four. I thought she was super season. Do you think I am? Bro? I thought
she was like as old as Socaco Bill. So I look that old. You be hanging with some old niggas? Bro, who do I hang with this old besides him? He's really old. That's one of my best friends. He's an old man. But who do I hang out with that's old? I think I just think when I think of when I think, I think of like old people, you think of like a generation before me and rap. I'm like you think you think like, oh, look, that's what he's like. He's like a Quasi Rosenberg over here on the West Coast,
just an old rap guy. Maybe. Yeah, Listen, I wouldn't say I'm like, I'm how old are you? Thirty three? Thirty? Okay? Because I try to do the math on the t pain thing older. You're just a little bit older than me, I'm saying, but you know you sees it, bro, so are you? But you've been doing this way longer than me? Yeah, I mean having to do this since I was like seventeen, I don't say you look old. Thank you well, I appreciate the h I thought she was a young looking
old dude. Now you're an old looking young dude. I get it. I'm not sure I've ever felt more attacked on my show, and I don't know if I'm supposed to take this is a good or a bad thing. He's like, I thought you were a young looking old dude. Now you're an old looking young dude. Listen, it is what it is. Man. You know I'm not the only one. Yeah, hey him, he's he's like fucking fifty. But you know, black don't crack respectfully it don't you work out? Filipinos
and black people age better than anyone if you work out. Yeah, Like I know Filipino people who are like fifty that look like they're nineteen. If you if you work out, if you eat good and kind of work out, do you work out? You keep saying that I'm back to it. You like, I came from a gym like this, so like you're fucking you know you're in the gym. I'm just running Cardio. That's it stage right now, I'm not. I'm not ready for waits and I know I don't
want to hurt myself. What about diet do you, like, do you have any weird are you like a vegan or anything? Everything that they tell you I should go light on. I don't eat eat a whole bunch of bread, eat any dairy really so anything. People are like, yo, don't do that. You're just like, I'm good on that old I don't eat anyway? What's your bread substantute? It's not that I don't eat bread, It's like I only
eat bread like to be like a sandwich. Have you ever tried they have like haliflower crust and like, I'm not trying to be like that. My intake of regular shit is so like at a healthy place. I don't know, what's the worst thing you've eaten this month? Like, what was that meal that you felt like shit afterwards? You're like, damn it? For me, it was like in and out like three day jolly Be, jolly Be. That's the Filipino spot, right, Yeah,
they both. I still fuck with jolly Be. Just today didn't hit like it was you know, I never had had it. And Crispy Crispy is chicken Crispy. My producer is Filipino, and he does a lot of stuff with this Filipino agency, and they delivered Jolly Be to my house. It wasn't good, but I don't know if it was because it was in the car and made a bunch right there. Yeah, And it also kind of threw me off because it was it was spaghetti and fried chicken. You gotta give it a go, and I was. I
opened it and I just looked at it. I took a bite of the chip, like, no, this ain't it. Champ's Filipino. Is it really spaghetti or is it dry rumen with like tomato sauce? Think so, because it's Filipino, it might be dry ramen spaghetti of stereotypically, I don't know what kind of racist ship we're getting into here. What do white people eat baloney? I knew that, so I'm gonna guess that. I don't think he's just killing spaghetti over there. They're not killing spaghetti. They're killing dry
ramen over here. What's the fake egg rolls Filipinos like Lumpia's fire Well, you know what I mean. It's like a long time I just dabble would have a question. You dump, you jumped full into it. I love Lumpia. E forty has a Lumpia company. E forty has everything. Company forty has every type of liquor. And he's slaying Filipino food. Or would you get into any sort of entrepreneur peneurial situations where you know, maybe you know somebody they ever shot French fries or something or bro if I could have like something like a waffle house out here, do you miss that about being in the South, Like just I like the quality of stuff in LA. I like the convenience and the familiarity and stuff in the South, So I probably like try to make something this taste
it a little bit better than waf house. Price about the same, Yeah, because like low key in LA like as much I mean, and I mean, how about this low key in the valley because I don't want to say La because you'll be able to find a taco truck in LA. But like the all night food is very it's over about nine o'clock. It's weak. You would think there'd be the ill fire. Like it's four in the morning. We're leaving the studio in Arizona. We have
a place called Philiberto's. It's just burritos all night and out in the South and then we also have waffle House in Arizona, but like waffle House is like fucking I'm the type. I used to be the type that I would travel for that for waffle House. Yeah yeah, like I go cross state lines for that amazing and it's very slept on. And you know what I like about waffle House is when you're really shit faced and you had a waffle House, it's like three thirty in
the morning, I feel you. That's cool. You conversate with the people cooking your food because you're drunk, but they're right there, they're making it. My memory come from like going with my grandma when I was like I didn't realize, you know what, you don't realize you're poor, and then you're going and do shit with your grandparents just fire. Then I grew up and realized it's just like seven dollars, right, I'm like that ship is high memory quality for super Bucks. Baby.
You know, when I was a kid, I used to think apple Bee's was like the fanciest restaurant in the world. I mean, you just got bad taste and then no, no, no, because it was like the ship you see the commercial. You know, my parents was taking me the fucking beast trash. No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying this was good. I would think of apple Bee's and Chili's. I always would think apple Bee's and Chilies were like expensive restaurants. Like Man, one day I get to go to Applebee's Chilis when
they still had Country Fried stick. I take it as a two and a half star. Apple Bee's is for sure two stars, but apple Bee's you get the two for twenty. That's what I mean. Okay, if it's fire, I don't need it. I don't need a coupon. It's not a coupeon. It's just what they do. It's basically you ever. Yeah, I mean, you know you're a certain point in life when you take a girl on a day Apple best for twenty everybody gets and they get half half priced appetizers during happy hour. Now, by the way,
there's no Applebe's anywhere near here. It pisses me off. It's frustrating. I kind of am pre plug cut the check Applebee's. God damn it. Uh. What's your biggest vice in twenty twenty one? Man buying pants? Buying pants? Mhmm, what kind of pants cargo? Something like I don't know, fluid and shit. I try to have to go into some like super bag. But I just like nice pants. So you're just a pants guy. When you see me, you always got some nice pants on every time, nice shoes. Pants.
It's a special kind of guy, like Loope was a pants guy. Taste hmmmpe, I remember Lupe put me on all kinds of Japanese denim and shit. It's okay. The rest of it don't really matter. You know. That's the opposite kind of take too, because most people don't care about their pants. It's me and the pants. M me and the pants, and the rest is just accessory. I need the pants. What's the most expensive pair of pants you've you've purchased? I don't know, like six. I don'm
gonna be doing that type of ship. I'm a regular dude, Like I like to dress like the manager would by pants? Would you go to H and M and by pants? Were they paying me to be there? No? No, Like if you were like, hey, look I need some pants. Oh look there's an H and M. Let me go get some cause they're like nineteen dollars. I usually have pants. They have pants there a little bogie so so but you just said you weren't that kind of guy. No, no, no, no, I'm not above it would I mm, so you're bougie
but not bougie? What I what I if I didn't have to? Yeah, okay, see what kind of pants right now? What do we got right now? I got some Grizzlies? S Oh you got that? Yeah? Yeah, up grizzlies. By the way, that was at the gym. It was a great shorts quite possibly top five uniform. Ever, Yeah, until you played on two K too much and you just kind of hate seeing it. Is that that's like your go to on two K Joa Moran and fucking Valachun. It's just like if if Rest could shoot a little better. Yeah,
about to say, because John's not a great shooter. He's better than Rest though, But that's crazy, right, Just think about it that now he can shoot, yeah, ten percent better than what he shot. Where's he at the league right now? I mean there's been years where he's shot ten percent better than he shot the last few years when he was the MVP. Shoot. But you're always looking at that, well, fucking go up, like is it for
the fall? Oh yeah? Yeah, same thing with jamran Ja Moran is disrespectful to his body, Like I'm afraid he's gonna like have like a moment where he fucks himself up because he has no fear just jumping over motherfuckers. He'd be flying. But when he shoot, it's like, I ain't gotta look it. Might it's gonna drop. Maybe if it's a I know scenarios, is gonna drop rust though if he ain't in a rhythm, it's like you just watching it and it's scary. Dog, He's like playing with
your heart? Is it? Like? What is kind of the correlation of relation to like Memphis and Chattanooga as far as like distance four hours, it's pretty far. I've been in Memphis like four times in my life. Atlanta's closer, Yeah, because Memphis kind of got rap music, right. I love
Memphis music. Memphis is on fire right now. Yeah, But like I ain't ever, I haven't got no relatives out there, no reason too did like Memphis has seemed bleed over to like your you like what you like and what you kind of came up listening to obviously three six months it was I would I didn't go there often. We only went there for what's this your call Matt tupa Tulu Telusa, Tuscaloosa. Oh isn't that in college town? No? No, no,
it's right outside of Memphis. We only went there to gamble with I went to I went to Memphis like four times with my parents, with my parents and grandparents. I went through that motherfucker like all the time. Yeah. The driver always fucking gambling. Not my parents. You a big gambler, my uncles and un ship. Are you a gambler? No? No, that never. Someone put you in a casino. You got a hundred let's say that they give a hundred bodet money. It's my money. I said, he, I'm gonna give you
a hundred dollars, but you gotta gamble it. What are you gonna play running it? What are you gonna run on tho? You're gonna go to black jack? It matter to me. If it's some ship I didn't earn, I might throw that ship away. I might give it away. And I feel feel the way about my possession. It's kind of crazy. The only thing I really keep a ship there like I cover it exactly? What do you cover it? What's the like? What's the most random thing at your at your house that you're like, this ship
lost my rolex? So nothing? Wow? How do you lose a rollie? Weird night? Bad night? Not bad night? I never have a bad night. Weird night? Uber? Did you leave it like at a chick's house? Weird night? Can you tell the story? Weird night? Let's let's end the interview with this. This the night of you weird nights? No? No, what then happened? Man? Did you go to the Claremont Lines in Atlanta and some old lady took it off for you? What happened? Man? I hear everybody that man
you heard about that fucking weird night? Which one the one you explained? I've had some weird nights. I had some really bad, really weird nights. But no, you tell me it's yours? And then, I mean most of my weird nights have been off of edibles, dabs or shrooms. Your sounds way more interested in So what happened to York? What happened with you? Yeah? Was your role like stolen or did you lose it? Anybody gonna steal ship for me? So they didn't? So do you? I mean? You know
you never know? You know? You hearbody? Okay, so get so you misplaced it? Yeah, some ship. You have a hunch on where you misplaced it this weird night somewhere. Okay, this is being very vague. Is there any sort of markings? Like, is there like a fucking you know, like a TD logo etched into the back? Of course not, he said, who the fucking I don't know the fucking label. Hey, if your girl, if your girl, if your girl gets you tattooed on it, and instead of tattooing your name,
she gets your logo tattooed. What do you think? Do you think she's that sure about like how it might have it? Or do you think she just likes your logo more than your name? I have no fucking idea. That's an interesting I don't know. So you're asking if my girl were to get my logo instead of my name, would that means she likes walk me down this path again? Do you think like to me, like, would you think is like she's like she's willing to take that risk.
But now willing was signed on the line right there? Mmm, I mean I'm married, So she signed your name? Yeah? Wait, when it's kind of getting to get your name tattooed not to say ghetto. No, if it's abody, my wife's names on my finger, damn, so I'm ghetto, continued behind my ear. Continue we've already we've already established some ghetto. But continue. I go to Apple Bee, that's kind of corny.
I go to apple This is corny. Yes, that is corny. Ship. Wow, man, that's like it's like you had to have known since like you were a freshman. We got married when uh we got married four years ago? Okay, how long do you know that? Probably like six years? How long you had to tap? I got the tap before we got married. How long ago is it? Listen? Man? Fuck you Isaiah shot? Damn? Wait? Whose name is tattooed on your fucking head? Taylor? Who's that? It's not even business? It was a weird name. Wait?
Do you have a female's name tattooed on you? Who cares? Oh? No, I mean you're calling me corny? We're both corny? Then that shiit tak That shit's close to your face. I could cover this ship up. Nobody sees that. I can see that. I can't get them. You can't see it unless I show it to you. You gotta hot. I put fucking gloves on. Bro. Yeah, exactly, I can fucking I could take my ship up like a guy damn basketball player. You know what I'm saying. Your ship is
buying your ear. You gotta grow your hair out. Bro. Where's Taylor at? Now? Your hair out? Where's Taylor at? Now? Over there? Oh? Is that Taylor? Oh? Is that you? Oh? Okay, okay, you know then you get the pass I was gonna say, is Taylor around right now? Well, she's in the same room, so you're not. Is that corny that he got your name tattooed on him? I was fucking like twenty two though, So you guys are like, you're like thirty four. I'm twenty first one. I'm a gron ass man. I knew
what I was doing. O bad decisions. Second of all, you're gonna go by yukon. You and I are both like you and I are both the same. We each have a tattoo of the girl we're still with. Right, you got married, like you didn't have to do that, Like this was for you to marry her. This was like, this is the hold off. She just said she's waiting. She said, you're right. This gave me like three years that you've don't. All right, so since we're doing this,
what is like what? So? So you did this as like a here, this is like a this will buy me three more years until I have to the porch. So that was eight years ago. This is like four years ago. Okay, but you've known your girl for how long? I kissed six tomorrow? So seven? Eight mm hmm. So when you're gonna when you're gonna pop the question? Man, I'm just putting you on the spot. I'm thirty. I wasn't get married, so now you're technically in marriage territory
because now you're thirty. Got an album, I got like another album that's a while knowing you. You're gonna gonna get married till he's forty, he said, after the next album, which is gonna be in twenty twenty nine. This is guy's the fucking Chattanooga doctor Dre making his way like it's a fucking detox every four years. She well, Taylor turned the tables. Shout out to Taylor, she's here, your lovely, your lovely wife. She's wife by proxy. You know, eight
years that's wife, she's your wife. I guess I was. I always hit you with but I would let you go. Good. Listen, hey, listen, we're both in amazing relationships, and we both have our amazing women's name tattooed on our body. I think the only thing that would make this more interesting is the reason was here in pat. Mmmmm yeah, reason. I don't know what it made that. I mean, we just have to do it, okay, reason, Can we eat rooms first? Yes? All right, it's a deal. It's a doozy Isaiah Sho,
I'm down. Yeah, tell fifty old motherfucker over there to set it up. No, I won't you find Pat Oswald? Who's Pat? Was that the comedian dude? Like, Oh, that's the that's the fat comedian guy. Right, you're not fat, but you know who I'm talking about. He's like a comedian, right, oh yeah, yeah, he's like he's like one of those legend Well he's like one of those faces you see in shows and you're like, I know that guy because
he's in that famous he's like somebody famous. Yeah, but I'm saying he's like a guy who I can never think of his name. You only know like six famous niggas names. The rest of them is just faces. Yeah, so he's famous, you know, George Clooney. Yeah, Brad Pitt took you a long time. And this thing with Brad Pitt from Leonardo DiCaprio, Nah, Leonardo had to do some ship. I don't think, so, I don't think. I don't think I had. At first, I was like, because they're white.
Maybe because they're white, I don't like they. You know, they always say white people look the same, and then you talk to like you talk to like some people and they say, he, all Asian people look the same. I think because I'm racist. No, no, no, I'm saying that like I think everybody else crazy. Everyone has had
somebody say that a race, everyone looks the same. And since I'm a part of that race and I'm blind, so like a Brad Pitt and Leo, I can distinguish that there are different people kind of look but what like sometimes le Leo looks like a child. Look related le looks like an old ass child. Leo just started looking like an adult exactly fifty. Brad Pitt is like a season like Brad Pitt. I think is like a guy like sixty. Yeah, but I think Brad Pitt's the kind of guy who like Leo, I think I think
clean cut. I think Brad Pitt could have bo and it'd be all right if that makes sense. Like no, like if I sat next to Brad Pitt and he had like a natural aroma'd like it's Brad Pitt. Of course he doesn't. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I I said next to Brad Pitt that fuckers some kind of funky But it was Brad Pitt. So you know, you know, like Matthew McConaughey just said, no, Matthew McConaughey just said he hasn't wrote wordy odor in thirty five years. Matthew McConaughey,
another white guy. They all whose nose isn't broke, right, I don't know he's gotta like but with this would not broke nose. Yeah, yeah, I love him. Just started to appreciate you see how you're saying all white people look the same their variance. You watch Loki, of course, it's like, well there's like there what we're watching the multiverse like the first time it broke with with white people. The only person that doesn't have a variant is like
Angelina Joelee. That's why I'm pretty sure she's not all the way she might be an alien too. She might be m her dad's John Boyd, so that that might have. He's a weird guy. She just she just come if someone told her she was an alien, like, would you be surprised? Yeah, she's one of the ones, like I think if Elon Musk was alien Like yeah, I think she hates everybody and she just participates. She has some weird interesting relationships with Billy, Bob Thornton relationship, Bill, they
have relationships with her. Mmm mm hmm. You gotta look at who's on top right now? Talk about him? Who's on top? I ain't watched that fucking Santa Claus movie in a couple of years. No disrespect to him? What bad Shima? Oh bad Santa? Oh yeah, no, I mean Billy actually fucked that. I'm dissing that, nigga. And that first season of Fargo fire. First of all, the first like three seasons of Fargo were crazy, but he was like the devil people. Don't you see you fuck with
Fargo on that fact? Not a lot of people do. And the Cohen's brothers my favorite directors ever. Do you love Do you love the Big Lebowski? It's my favorite movie ever. The dude, it's my favorite movie ever. Was my nigga from Armageddon? Was he actually in the movie? Which one? He's the guy he's like the only white guy in Hollywood? Who if he fixed his teeth, we'll get less rose, Oh, Steve Ami. Yeah's like he keeps his teeth like that. He's Donnie. He's Donnie. Yeah, he's Donnie. Yeah,
he's dying right now. His name is Donnie and the Big Lebowski. Shut the fuck up, Donnie bro Yo. But Shemi though, is like one of my favorite actis he's he's another guy who was like was he in there? Was he in that movie? You ever heard of that theory? Was he actually in it? He was? Was he? Like? Was his character there? There's a theory that he was never there, like that he's a part of like one
of the nigga's imaginations. Oh, you're talking about in the movie within the movie that Donnie never was in the theory that he's that Donnie's character in that movie. His character was actually a fingering in their imagination. He was he was Neil right, his name is Donnie. No, the other one it was it was Walter Walter. He was he was part of Walseron's imagination. I could see that because they shut the fuck up, Donnie, You're out of
your element. Yeah, like they was saying. They were saying, like the dude doesn't directly talk to him really in the movie though, that's I mean, m it's always Walter yelling at Donnie, and that's why I like, that's that's why I started getting into the coin. But then they spread Donnie's ashes out of the folders can at the end, and the ashes go into the dude's mouth, So I think Donnie was real Donnie. They say, like Donnie died, he did die, like in the movie, yes, watched before
or something. He dies, he literally dies, And then I think that's what it's. No, there's there's an explanation about that. There's an explanation to it, because he talked about Fargo and Cohen's brothers. Coen brothers did something of my favorite directors. It was something about the dude was just participating with Walter doing some crazy ship. There was no Donny. I mean, I I I mean, I'd love to talk to the Cohen's brothers and figure out if that is a thing.
I almost went to Lebowski Fest one year, but it's kind of corny. I had to draw the line in the stand there I would That's why. That's how I got into it, like Burn after reading, of course, Burn after readings slept On movie, sucked up slept On. Like the dumb It's like the like when I say the dumb is like in a good Way movie I've ever seen. It's random as fuck, radts, dumb as fu like wearing
that fucking little for this looking headphones. Yeah, it's like, I guess that's one of the one of the times I guess I realized maybe there's like a movie that actors would like to watch. No Country for Old Man. Is that shows range of those guys man after his service? Perhaps a friend Walter I could see. I mean, yeah, I mean, obviously he's obviously Walter has PTSD uh. Obviously
my dog's name is Labou. The fucking cowboy come back in the like the last season or season before last, so Fargo, I the Chris Rock season I didn't watch it was. I watched the first two or three, so I watched. The last season I watched was the one where they accidentally killed the girl in the the Lady or the accidently killed the girl in the garage and then put her in the freezer. Killed the dude or the dude, Yeah, it was the dude. And then it was like the second season think it might have been
season thre three. That was three three. Yeah, with the couple, Yes, with the couple. That's the last one. I was crazy. Yeah, season one is crazy though, That's what it was. No, which was that the one with the call the fucking podcast brand, Welcome the fuck the brothers when they it's it's two brothers. Yeah, brother they played the twins and when of them got the girlfriend? Mm hmm, that's the one.
And he comes and and so the cowboy from The Big Lebowski or something, and they like redo the same scene. It's like making everything connected, like bargos and the like they're in the same universe. I like that. And three what are you? What are you watching right now? Though? That is good? You know what's fire is success succession and suicide Squad is fire. I watched the inception over Figure it Out Inception. I never still have not watched it.
I feel like I got someone kind of ruined it for me and I was just was like, all right, I'm good I don't need my brain to figure if I want to meet, if I would ever be able to speak to Christopher Nolan, because I'm like, this is the ship to be on your mind, like what's wrong with him? Or like what's wrong with us? And I'm like, that must be who's your favorite director? Uh? Because I'm a nerd? Yeah? Did I say his name? T to t Wakiki? He did fucking throw the third the second
when he did Ragnarock. He did what we what were do in the Dark, the Vampire movie. I haven't seen that, but Ragnarrock was amazing. What else he did? He did Bojo or JoJo's Rabbit, Joja Rabbit, I haven't seen that. He's like quirky, but like deepest fucking serious. I mean, I love ragnar Rock. Ragon Rocks like probably my third or fourth favorite Marvel movies. He's probably my favorite director. Or whoever wrote Forrest Cup who did? I don't even
know who get that? Who did? Was that? He never asked? Right? Who did? For his Tom Hanks get way too much credit? Fast offense? What do you think Tom Hanks thinks about Chet Hanks signing The Soldier Boys s O d MG. He probably as a parent. Think he's proud. Probably like, man, you're on bro. He signed with the we signed with Big Director. When you work your whole life, I think if you work your whole life to create a pathway for your kids to do whatever they want to do.
He literally wants to be a rapper and speak pat and all that ship Like did he get that ship off? Like the Thanksgiving is gonna be better than last year? You got his s D. You got a SD like Tom or Soldier Boy, first rapper to be in Tom Hanks house. He's coming, that photo is coming. Oh, that'd be great. Well, listen album coming up? I hope not. Who's Soldier Boys? Soldier Boys out? Albums coming out? Shout to him. I'm doing a party with tomorrow in Phoenix.
Why does know you Soldier? I know his manager. I mean he's been here. He's a hero. Huh. Want to meet him? He's a hero. I just want to say I met soldier That's easy. I want to be the first. You'll be the first Isaiah Shot to meet Soldier Boys. Quite, I don't know. You think that's a pretty common name. Isaiah Shad. Somewhere in the world, there's there's there's I mean it feels like there's there's a lot of Isaiah shan Any tattoo. This a kind of up but kind
of like I was like riding Little Flex. It's just do you have any any people out there getting your name tattooed or anything? People tattooed my face on them? Is that weird? Is that ship weird? I don't understand why anybody with tattooed the Sun's tyrade, like the little guy. Yeah, that's kind of fire. That's like different than like your face. Yeah, it's I know that they're going to cover up one day, but your actual face is tattooed on people's bodies like
a cartoon ringing in my face. It's weird. Yeah, because I would like talk to Tech nine and I'd always be like, bro, how do you deal with all these juggalos with like your face tattooed on their body next to like the hatchet man. It's just part of the world, I guess, you know it is. I'd just be like, you're gonna regret that probably, Well, we're not going to regret our tattoos or our lovely women's names that we have.
I'm trying to get it, like I'm trying to get a ring so I can like low key cover stuff. I feel like this is a you gotta swap them out so you get Okay, okay, okay, let's let's let's figure this out. So, I mean this is on like twenty four hours. So this this decision was, hey, instead of us getting married, instead of instead of us getting married, here's your name tattooed on me, so you know it's real. Once we get married, I'm covering the tattoo up. Yeah,
because you got the ring. Swap them out. Swap It's like either or which one would you want? It's contrasts. It's like, right now we're rolling over at thirty, we're rolling over in the free agency. We're thinking about, well, we're restricted free agents though, so we're thinking about what the rest of our lives are going to be like the next next tie you think. So, non married people are restricted free agents if they're in relationship restricted free agent.
Nobody when you're going through those life barriers and you come and when you like when you walk into a room and Niggas is like, oh so yeah, I ain't married. That lets you know that you're in restricted free agency. It could go down any day. But it also be pretty straight. You're still playing, season still going on, so you're you're in restricted free agency. But it's like, because we got to make that decision type of shit, it's never gonna be anybody's decisions. It's kind of like Kawhi,
that's not nobody's gonna Kauhi. Everyone knew he was going to resign with the Clippers, right, you know what I mean? I mean the last couple of days was like, Nah, everybody's cap space was eating up. Nobody had any fucking money to sign him. It seemed like all this it's like you look out there, it's like, yeah, it's like if you leave it, that's like the only baverage out there. That's interesting. He's one of your favorite players because he's
just just a very boring guy. Not boring to watch. Now. It's a very good taste of music. I didn't even know it. That's a good curator. We had a good time. I think anything beyond that, he got a patent to be here. There it is. And so Isaiah Rashad, the new album is out, the tour is going to be crazy. Forty eight Cities Man
