a while. I have, uh the artist side of it, you know what I'm saying. But I've been really involved with you know, as being like a concert promoter. You know what I'm saying. I heard that. Yeah, since like twenty ten or eleven like that, been like my bread and butter, Like I do a couple of hundred shows a year, wow that I promote. So you know, I've

been in the music business. But I just making Yeah, you know what I'm saying, I've been putting shows on man, you know what, like because obviously from an artist's perspective, you see you be like, damn, Okay, I got paid this much, but the show sold out, so the promoter made this much. So what made you kind of get into the promoter game? Shit? I done have nights where I had four and five shows going in one night in different states just as a promoter. Just as a promoter,

I might have had Keith sweating, uh Kansas City or something. Right, you know, somebody else's somewhere and somebody else somewhere and somewhere and I might have been doing crush groove or something, you know what I'm saying. It's just I Dodn't it have been situations like that where I really had like four or five shows going in one night, damn dude. Yeah.

The promoter game is do you feel like, because I do feel like there's kind of probably a saturated market in people trying to throw shows, do you feel like you found like a niche and the type of artists and type of shit you're doing well. The thing is is that anybody could try to do it, but you gotta get good at it in order for it to be you know, and you gotta be willing you you

gotta have enough to lose. Yep. It's like going like if you stand at the craft table, you shouldn't be standing there with nothing that you you care if you lose it straight up you feel me so so like that's the same thing with this. You know it's a gamble, but but like you know, as you as you get good at it, you learn like what's a smart bet? Was not a smart bed? You know what I'm saying.

But you got to be able to like, uh, you know, with Stan losing you you got to be able to deal with that because that's a part of the game. So are you this tour that you just announced, Uh, it's you. I saw a man in perezz on. A lot of people think dog Pounds on the tour, dog Pound, Warney Quick, Yeah, sugar Free, that's your tour. That are you? Like you're the promoter as well? Yeah, doubling up? I just got to say, dude, like, uh, you're like, there's not a lot of people I'll call legend, but I do feel like you are one of the greatest to ever come out of the West Coast. Wow. I just feel like you have so much catalog. I like today I was like riding around like, God, damn man, I forgot about hating your eyes and there's so much shit for you. Do you feel like because you're kind of like behind the scenes now, you're not as visible as maybe some of your peers when we think of West Coast legends these days, do you feel like you get the love and respect you you deserve and when we talk about that, yeah, but most of all, I

So so like, if I cared about famous, it would have took me fourteen years to do another record, right, It's been that long, Yeah, two thousand and nine. That was

the last time you put out music. Yeah, I put an album all yeah, Jesus. So if I cared about famous and with this internet shit and everything, how it is, you know, I would have been in front of the camera. Yeah. But I've been getting to the bag, so you know that's that's you know, I feel good about that. You were the first guy I ever heard talk about Inglewood on records. And now obviously Inglewood is blown up. A lot of people are saying has become gentrified, SOFI stadiums

over there. How do you feel about Inglewood these days? Man? Because it is kind of the it's city now in La been to. It's city for me my whole life, of course, you know, but that's for like everybody. The Clippers are gonna play there. I mean, you know, we we welcome everybody with open arms. It's all good. You know. I love Inglewood, man, Yeah, you know that's that's that's that's always home at the end of the day. There's a dope obviously a lot of dope artists coming out

of Inglewood. Are you hit to like guys like Roucci and like that kind of yeah, yeah, oh yeah. And I love to see Little Roccie in them getting theirs, you know what I'm saying, Like, like I'm I'm a real like fan the of the youngsters, you know, because everybody had a time yep. And you know I've been blessed. Man, God has been good to me in this game. So like, I ain't the kind of guy that like not want everybody to win. You know what I'm saying, You a

You know, I think back to like some of your catalog, You've been a part of so many dope projects obviously, uh, man, the recipe. I mean, I've the West Coast, the West Side Connection. Shit. Like when you think back of your catalog, what's your

favorite mac ten album that you've got part of? Man, they all like feel different because I was at different times in my life, you know, with them. But like, let me see, uh, based on the true story. One of my one of my favorite records, Banga Ball is one of my favorite records because I went about it different. I had never made a record like that. I made bang a Ball in two weeks, two weeks, two weeks from start to finish. Literally wow, literally hating your eyes,

pud By dre Right, Yeah, doctor Drake did that. Yeah, so you just got a dre bat like in the two week process. He just sent a pack over and that was one of them. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, Well I actually went it said with him. He played me some stuff and I like that when he said, all right, this one you if you want it, you can get it. So you know what I'm saying. And then I flew I did it, and then I flew back to Houston to finish my album because I was working with Many Fresh.

You know what I'm saying. So Fresh work like that, like Do the Damn Thing was a freestyle. I didn't even write that because he wouldn't let me write it. He was like this, going there, you listen to the rhyme pattern and everything. He was like, just going there and you a pro just going there and just rhyme. That kind of makes six. I do the Damn Thing. I let my nuts hang. Yeah, it was a straight

free style. He said, I don't want it if you write it like just going there and just whatever you say, just just make the next word rhyme if you can. You know what I'm saying. He said, I'm telling you it's gonna come out hard like that. Just do it like that. So, you know, Many Fresh one of the best ever. So I listened to him and I did it, and Do the Damn Thing is one of them records.

That was a good one. Me and my small group of friends in Phoenix had an actual funny dance we would do when that song came on that we still like, if I play that song right now. My best friend Ram was here. He would do it. What was like, first of all, talk about like how you ended up on Cash Money for that one project. It was just a situation, man, I mean, you know, Priority was uh, you know, making some some changes at the time, and me and Stunner was already homies, and so it really

was just a move. It was just a play, you know what I'm saying. It was just a move like like that was already my homeboy. And so when I had to, I had a choice either sign a new deal with Priority or sign this deal. You know, I just wanted to try something different. And Cash Money is like the hottest label in the world at the moment. Yeah, and like yeah, yeah, but but but most of all them dudes was like solid dudes with me, you know

what I'm saying. We clicked as people. They was you know, I would go to New Orleans and it was all open arms, like we was family, you know what I'm saying, and vice versa. When they was out here, it was like that. So this was something man, that we was really trying. I just wanted to like do something different. I had been putting. I had put a lot of records out on Priority already. Yeah, you know, so you know, when the when, when the opportunity came and that bag

was silly. For that one record, I had to do it. Yeah, what was it? What was that creative process like working with a guy like Manny Fresh, because you've been in obviously in the studio with so many other legends like Doctor Dramon. Yeah, what was the difference between the Manny Fresh and some of the other guys. Fresh is like, like I said, he the first one to get me to just go in there and just rap, just don't write nothing, just going there and just say it, you

know what I'm saying. And Fresh work faster than anybody I've ever seen. He had cooked the beat up right in front of you, like in a few minutes, and it's a hit, it's connected for life, it's do the damn thing is whatever. But he cook it up right there like quick, like right in front of you, you know what I'm saying. So, you know, Fresh one of the best ever man for real for sure, you know, Like I remember at one point Fresh had missed platinum in a couple of it was some years had went

by and everything was platinum. You know that's crazy. Yeah, No, I think I think Fresh when we think, when we always talk about the goats I feel like we got to keep his name in that conversation because he kind of formed the whole sound kicked off Wayne Juvie, every human. It's crazy, Yo. You have always been really good at expanding, like the West Coast shit to like other areas we talk about obviously the cash money situation. You had a great relationship with Fat Joe back in the day. What

do you like a tribute to that? Because I do feel like you kind of like a lot of LA guys were just kind of like working with other LA guys, but you did a really good job of like breaking out of that mold and just working with everybody from all over the place. I'm a player. You know, players is internationally known, nationally recognized, and locally accepted. You feel me. I'm a player, man. If you're trying to get to it,

you you got to step outside your neighborhood, you feel me. So, so I fuck with who fucked with me, you know, regardless of where they're from or any of that. That was like that ended up going on to be like really big that like maybe it almost happened or didn't, you know, almost got to the finish line, but maybe for whatever reason it didn't work out. Snoop, Snoop. Yeah, was this after Yeah, he was already. It was when when death Row was like you know, when he was before he went to no limits. So before he went to no limit, you guys had those combos, paperwork was done. Wow. Yeah,

that's crazy. So death Rows obviously a rap, Snoops, a free agent and you approach him to come on, who Banging and it almost happens. I mean, if he a free agent and I'm in the game, you know what kind of motherfucker would I be not to shoot for the biggest free agent out there? That's real shit. You know, Jerry Jones gonna shoot for the Kohlers motherfucker out there if he if he can get his hands on it. Yeah, you feel me? So how close it was really close

to happening? When it is the paperwork literally was done. It's just you know, some things you know went on, but like it was, it was done. But like usually, I really don't don't listen to my music. Really, I heard it so many times making it until I'm you know, I really don't listen

to my music. I'm wondering when. Okay, you obviously are part in my opinion of the best supergroup in rap history, west Side Connection. Yeah.
