Playcat Podcast Live from the super Bowl Arizona Shot to Death Chairman, We got fifty rich in the building. What's good? Care? How you doing? How are you doing out here? Rap hustling is you like to call it? Yeah? Rap hustling man, getting on the road, get into bad. So when you come to like obviously you have a hosting tonight in town, but when you come to a Z for a weekend like super Bowl, Yeah, what is like the target? Like how many verses you planning on recording this weekend? Shit,

I don't know who's gonna be out here. I know you know it's gonna be packed. So see me what I could see? Like, like me, I could just get on the road and just go somewhere right and just post just post up, post it online, hit me for features shows, right whatever they gonna tap in videos. That's just something I built. I kind of learned that from Jack, right, you know what I'm saying, Like he used to tell me that back in the day, like just come, it's

gonna be good. You might you might not. You never know what you might run into, Like you might run into a promoter that've been trying to book. You didn't have no contact right might want to get a verse from you, ship whatever, it might want to pay you to come do a meet and greet like I you know, I come from the era, just really like you know, the independent grind. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So

it's kind of easy. Would you pay for a feature in a weekend like this if you run into the right artists and they're like, yo, what's up, let's work listing right now? Yeah? Nah, I ain't paying you ain't paying nobody for a future. No, not at this point. Like back in the day when I first started rapping, you know what I'm saying. But I know everybody, who's the most expensive feature you ever had to pay for?

Back in the day when all the features were the same price, which is what it was admes, Okay, I ain't never pay no more than that. That's not bad. It comes to the videos. It was like my early yeah, early on what year we're thinking when I first started rapping, just running to niggas and not having a relationship. Let me cast you out. They have no problem. It wasn't even about that. It's just like, man, what's up? Like I'm trying to get you on my own, my song. Yeah,

I know what it is. You know what I'm saying, right, I don't know him, he don't know me. It's just like the same thing for me, right, I mean, I can't be biased about it, you know. I mean, people don't boll features for me. So if jay Z you're running the whole hope, it's like, yo, I got you just five bands, you better do that for Z feature and listen, that's that's unbelieving. Running to the bank. You don't got to run the bank, but that's unbelievable. Run

to your you don't have to. It's gonna cause more that to clear that dad, for sure, that's impossible. So one hundred percent, you know, I'm just I'm putting out. I mean, I look at it, like twenty five thousand, it's not a lot for jay Z. So it's like I feel like if he'd do it for that, he had just do it for free. If he's seen my used to be seeing my talent, my work ethic and like you know what I'm saying, Like a lot of

people hit me up. I tell him my price. So it's like people don hit me up before them be like okay, I can I keep you this and I'm like, nah, right, I'm like him. If I'm gonna do it for that, might as well just do it for free. Uh. You obviously have been building out your label for long time, putting together a dope roster artists. Yeah. Really, I've just been focused this year on that. That's why I really

ain't been dropping too much music. I've been focusing on them getting all a getting everything with them situated in together. So how many artists do you have signed to you right now? Because I feel like you got a nice, a nice team on fo dis Yeah, twelve thirteen artists.

That's a lot of people. So is it like, obviously, when you sign an artist, how much of it is you know, do you kind of feel like you might be spreading yourself too thin or you kind of are you signing self starters guys who are gonna go get to it and then you kind of come in and add So like in the beginning, we do like artists development, We work and we build and teaching them how to you know, stop recording on mixtape, beach proper, mixed faster

and artwork. You know what I'm saying, all that we getting together and I gotta really see this is what you really want to do. Things like you got to show me that because you know tomorrow you might wake up and say I don't want to rap more or or whatever situation. So it's like, okay, cool, I got to know that you really dedicated to this For me to I can't want more than you want it. This is I'm living my dream. This is your dream that I'm trying to help you, you know what I'm saying.

So with that being said, we'll start off like that, and then as we go towards that, and then we'll work into bigger and better most are is there like any are you pretty much keeping your your roster Bayry oriented or just wherever. I didn't have artists outside of California, But as of right now, everybody like I've been just be focusing on East Oplan. He's Oakland. Yeah, I'm the hometown. Yeah. It's kind of uh, kind of you know, because I

feel like San Francisco has been changing so much. Oakland's been changing so much over the last since the pandemic happened. Yeah, shit is kind of crazy. Like when you go back, it feels like there's like a lot of energy has been sucked out of certain parts of the Bay Do you feel like when you go back, it was a little different since I feel like the pandemic obviously a

lot of clubs closed, a lot of spots closed. I ain't really never was like no really music night scene in the Bay Area because like a lot of artists that come in town and be like, like where should I go tonight? And it don't be nowhere to go, you know what I'm saying. So that's kind of always been a thing. It's always been like that. Then I can go to anywhere else and they got like a night scene like the area you can't go nowhere, like like shout out to my boy book pay So DJ millions.

But I love they've been doing a thing right now, as in like the hip hop like I would say, like underground, you know what I'm saying, JA twelve what else I love? I mean, Drew Banger, They've been they've been doing like what they can do for the Bay Area, open San Francisco, like the underground music scenes, throwing parties, you know what I'm saying. Bringing attention, you know, I

feel like a light on the city. I was gonna say, obviously you've got a great relationship with Gauzi as do I. We both work with gazi Uh and he's so passionate about kind of like the keeping as much energy and resources that he has going on in you know, in the Bay Area. Do you feel that kind of similar responsibility. Of course, that's why I said I'm focused on Yeah, I'm like, okay, cool, I din't I didn't work with them,

to everybody in the bag. So it's like, it's a lot of talent where I'm from, So let me focus on that first, and then when I'm done with that. You know what I'm saying, don't you know, spread yourself to take on too much, but let me let me do my part. Yeah. It's funny because last time I was in Detroit, you were in Detroit at the same time, and you know, it feels like Detroit and the Bay have a very they have like a kinship with each other.

And you've worked with so many artists out of the the d What do you think it is about Detroit and the Bay Area that it feels like they're kind of their cousins, the similar culture. Plus you know, in the past, other artists from the Bay I've worked with Detroit. You know, but like the the way that's going on now with the Detroit and opening the Bay Area, like

I helped bridge the gap. You know, I was really going out there dealing with these artists, like giving them game and connecting them with Gayzi and things that they

didn't know about music. They was putting out videos and doing millions of views, but not getting paid for it, not having a song on iTunes, not having a song registered, no distribution, just rapping like for years they was doing that, so they was getting frustrated, like like man, I'm you know, stagnated, like with the rap, like I don't know how to get money off of it. Like this video got five million views on it haven't been paid crazy, you know

what I'm saying. Like underground hits like go to the strip club, everybody in the club know the song. Is that usually because the artist has the song uploaded on or someone else up. Yeah, Like it'll be like on the director's channel, right, got understand, Like if you pay attention to like the major labels, they dropped the single first and then they dropped the video, right, and that's

how it gets registered. You know what I'm saying, Caause the song's already out, so it's already kind of Once someone uploads it with that audio, it will it'll flag it as as it belonging to you, and they'll be mad the camera man, thinking the camera man did something wrong and keeping their money in right, you know, and shit like that. But you know, I mean the cameraman. If it's on the camera man's channel, he probably shot it for free most likely. Or the camera man is

probably even more popular than the artists. Yeah, he's got more subscribers. So it's like, go ahead, uploaded on your shit. Artists didn't even have their own YouTube channel, evo channel, you know what I'm saying. So it's just you know, given, you know, helping people be bosses and succeed and giving them game or whatever. And you know, that's just it. Like I've been doing that for years outside of my artists,

you know what I'm saying. I've never been the person that like, you know, hold back information, will be stingy whatever it is. Like you know, I'm saying, you getting money, I'm getting money. It's not gonna stop. Like you know, I'm saying. They printed shit every day, like like I like to see everybody, everybody, Sean, what's up guys. Hey, shout out to our family at blue Choo. Man, listen, I know we always are getting feedback about our blue

Choo interviews. They're not interviews, yeah, they're commercials, and we're always getting feedback about them. Usually it's they're fucking hilarious. Man. Go to odd soxsofficial dot com use the promo code Bootleg. Let's get back to the interview. You've been known to do

collaboration projects. Who's somebody who's out there that you're just a fan of that you wouldn't mind doing a little mixtape with if you had your choice. In La, I've been rocking with my boy f and pay So we talked about it. Also Big Sad nineteen hundred and then right now I've been listening Rico cash Out Atlanta. Okay, Yeah, shout out to Big Sad for you, like coming from where you're from, the independent grind here, having opportunities to

sign with rock Nation in the past. Yeah, I'm sure that wasn't the only opportunity you had to go to the major route. Yeah, major thing works for some artists because some artists I think are kind of lazy, and I feel like it kind of there are artists out there because I wouldn't say because they kind of lazy.

They might want to work more, but the label stops that. So, like when you signed to a major, Like they kind of don't I wouldn't say respect, but they kind of don't want you like with the releasing, but they got to understand like the culture you came from. Also, like how do you guys got understand how you got there? Yeah, So it's like they don't want They probably want to drop an album, tour for a year, drop another album

after that. But it's like a lot of artists like they keep their buzz by working, so like it's a new artist coming in every day. So just say you drop an album, shoot videos, put out for a year, then tour for a year. That's like two years. By time you come back, it's gonna be so many different new artists out stack in this place. And if this artist came from grinding, they're like, oh he not that he fell off, but he just ain't being consistent. What's

for you? The reason why you didn't end up doing the rock Nation thing, they wanted your catalog, right, Yeah, so they just wanted the back catalog, which is how fuck how many albums now? I want to know, but it was just from whenever I released music. How many albums currently do you have out? Is it over one hundred? Way over hundred Jesus way over. But uh, I just didn't feel like that, and luckily I didn't do it and shout out to them. I dispected them however they

run their business. It's just that I wasn't ready for it because like a lot of major artists, I mean major labels, they could take you to make it to a start, you know, and put you on a bigger platform. And some artists won't that instead of won't you know ge what I'm saying, they want the fame over it in order to get over like the business part of

the situation. So it's like, okay, they jeopardized that. Luckily I didn't do it because right when I had that meeting COVID here right after, and that was that You're supposed to be a tour going on. That's your residual income coming in off the catalog, set in the house, doing nothing, paying it for nothing, right, you know what I'm saying. So you know, but I mean it could have worked for somebody else though, because they was talking about tour and putting you with this artist like what

they do too. They have a lot of big artists sign to their labels they manage and they'll put you with that artist because you'll look good with them, and it'll be like this artist sign. Who are they trying to put you with? I mean, it ain't too many that I haven't been around. I didn't been around them all. But when you're with rock Nation, who are they like? Who do they envision put you with? Who's like you're in the sales meeting and the pitch meeting where they're like, yo,

we think you fit. You sound great with this guy? You fit if nobody. But we talked about different artists I work with. But I know how it works. I didn't seen it done before, you know what I'm saying. So it's like, okay, cool, you got a label deal over there. You need artists and you're at this label. So we're gonna sign other artists and then put this with you like you signed them, and you know, blow

it up. It's all about a look. Anybody who you see doing the CEO ship as an artist that you really kind of look up to or respect ship Barren Man p he just puffy, Yeah, of course, puffy shit all of them. You know what I'm saying, Cameron, anybody that put they people in position, you know what I'm saying, even if it was a fail, even if it was successful, they tried, right, you know what I'm saying, So you

have you been noticing? I was just saying, have you been noticing everyone's selling their catalog because they don't have to grind the shitting they sit in the house, or they don't know how to manage money, so or you understand like when when the pandemic hit, like a lot of them, maybe we're living above their means and living

off shows. And we're talking about like the justin Timberlakes that Justin Bieber's QC just sold for three hundred million dollars like QC Pete, Yeah, he sold what the whole of QC got just sold three hundred million to screw to bron Shit, it's probably a crazy ass memory you can't turn down. I would have sold that ship two for three hundred million. But I bet you if he sold it for three hundred me, I bet you, Like the ship is right to work. Cool, Like once you

recoup that, they get it back. But like even if you say it Coogue, it's not forever three hundred I don't know, I don't know. I'm gonna give you three hundred million dollars. It's me over here. Now you better put you better put some new shit out. It all depends on like how how structured to deal structure. Every deal is different because like you know, like I heard, like if you say a catalog like it comes back

to you after a certain time or whatever, it's not forever. Son. Listen, man, three hundred million dollars, this is me over here for perpetuity for sure. I mean, I'm sure he's gonna make not just three hundred, he's gonna be okay, like he might make six hundred and then double back. They're talking

about Michael Jackson's catalog. His family's gonna sell half of it for nine hundred million dollars, but she's about half jaccent Michael Jackson, like every song on his album used to be a single going platinum what I'm saying, But it's just crazy. It's crazy to think seven songs on the tape, so his whole catalogs were like one point eight billion dollars. It's insane. At that point in time, you just take the money, Like what else are you gonna do? Like what do you need more money for it?

I don't even see why they doing that. I'm sure his music is generating a lot of money. How much money is too much money? Like where where do you just say, okay, we made it like we have. We can relax no matter what, like going vacation to be working. Do you go on vacation, but my vacations be worked? Like this is my vacation now, I'm chilling. You're in super Bowl week in Arizona. The next come out here with that. I know, but that's what I'm saying. It's

not a vacation. You're out here grinding. I don't even know who in the super Bowl Eagles and Chiefs. Okay, come out here for that. I just came to work. So when are you go on vacation now? Like you never go to like can Coon and just chill, but I still work. But what are you doing in Can't Coon? Mother fucking the Mexican rappers pooing up with the bag and that I'm talking about stil like in tune to like what's going on my artists's like, Man, I'm indio can Coon? I throw the fly up, guys, I'm a

hard rock cant coon. I just see I didn't ran to people everywhere that a nigga like, I mean, I'm sure people probably do music and can't come like I don't. Just went to Hawaii. Are you allowed to go to Canada? Yeah? That's rough. They don't play over there. Huh. And I got hit up, I hit Drake up. That's Toronto. Well Toronto is in Canada. Yeah he has the pool. Oh yeah, oh yeah, my bookie. Sign up with that promo code Bootleg. Also, shout out to our family at Hardean Hardan Las Vegas. Yes, you see him. I was just there in Vegas yesterday. This is the best place I've ever been to in

terms of dispensaries. I've been to probably hundreds of these things, and the experience at Hardan is like nowhere else. The customer service, the selection of premium cannabis, the experience as a customer that you get when you walk into the building in Las Vegas is bar none the best. It's just the best, man, they are the best. We got so much going on this weekend. They're sponsoring the Rolling Stone party on Friday, super Bowl weekend, Fabulous Thursday, Offset Friday,

Meek Saturday. It's a lot going on with hard Dean. You got to follow him at Hardean Underscore Las Vegas right now. Shoot them a follow on Instagram while you're at it. Go to the website Hardeinlasvegas dot com. So much fly gear, so much flyweed. What are we talking about? Baby? Shout out to Hardean. Man, that's the family. Man. Go if you're in Vegas, pull up on them man, Hardean, Las Vegas. What else? Obviously we were talking about the label. But for you, what is coming up for you? Man?

I just dropped the EP weekend in LA, like last weekend for my birthday. That assuming that was recorded on the weekend in LA. Okay, yeah, you know I got the week in Detroit, weekend in Houston, week in LA. I want to do a weekend in New York ted to a weekend in Phoenix. I got it. But it's all LA artists on the album. It's a man, there's some great artists here. Name so Chris Coke, who his name is, Chris Coke, Chris Coke, whoever Daily Finesse, Markhams, Markhams.

There's some amazing artists here. I'll put you on shout out to all of them there. Chris Coke is hard. Yeah, okay, but that's how I did it. Like when I went to Detroit, recorded the music, went to Houston, link up with the artists in the city. Yeah, like the hottest artists out there right now, you know. But I wanted to go on in New York and then like all my artists, like probably like four of them all dropping in February. Shit, it's my young junir just drop skinny

tea drop tomorrow. How big is your team? Like that helps you with all this stuff? It's just really me and my product manager that Impire. Who's that now? Our name is Olivia now oh shot to live Live Solid. That's just me and her every day. That's it. Huh. You should hire one more person. Well, I got I got a Norton, got my boy in La Matt Black with Corey in Vegas in Oakland, my boy depot. How is the dog breeding business over with? The pandemic over with? Yeah?

Because no one's got all that PPP money to drop on their exotic frenchies by six dogs a day. Jesus at one time, where do you keep all of the dogs. I had bought a whole built the whole dog like house, like I spell, like two fifty like on the house, like marble floors a c They had like stalls in their glass. You could see them through backyard basketball court water. Well it was the dogs had a basketball court. It was It was nice. You know what I'm saying. But

who's jerking the dog off the vet? Vet? Yeah? Playing like that? Ain't that serious? My boy in Vegas does does it himself? They don't. They don't got time to go Las Vegas money bullies. Look at him. Ron Dieszel loves jerking his dogs. I don't seen a lot of people do it, Like I'd've been to a lot of different places. They put the dog down through everything, like take the seaman out, put it in the girl, put it asleep, story, back up, everything like right there, like

at a house. That sounds like something like going to someone's house to get a BBL. Yeah, that sounds wild crazy. We got dogs in the getting that much money off that shit? You don't got time for all that. Like it's kind of crazy too, like with all the robberies that be happening on these frenchies see me, I'm taking mine as a bad shout out doctor Bivins in Vegas, that's who I go to. Man, are you worried, like, like, have you had anyone try to try for one of

these dogs? No't like that. It's pretty hot out here. I ain't going like that. Yeah, I feel like owning a Frenchie is like a fucking security hazard. No, really believe they doing that to like people. They feel like, you know, let's go a board push over somebody. Like you know what I'm saying, Uh, what's the hottest dog besides the Frenchie? If you were? If you were? Sorry, English bulldogs so English. I got English bulldogs, but I've just seen some new some new Frenchies. They got the

new ones on them. In the fluffy they got like a rope, like a sharp pey. Hm hmm, like crazy. You know, they mixed with something, even the mutant dog. Even the fluffies are mixed like all that shit is like genetics. That sh just got probably mixed with cocker spaniel or something. Jesus, how does that work? Is they just make these dogs until they get something cool, like we figured it out. So they it's just like it's like Okay, they probably tried the first time and it's

just too too much. So what happens with those dogs? They send it out then it out to give those dogs away to put them down, probably be at the at the spcation where so they thin it out until it's like more of what they so like, even though Billy Billy is really like an English bulldog in the uh in the pit bull, so I got the pit bull ahead and the English bulldog body. Those poor bullies, man, they just look uncomfortable. They're just like you can't see

mine if I showed you mine. Shout out to bipolar. Oh this that's the father of my You have a boy right now that niggas buff is here. How do you get a dog buff? It's got to be in one of the genetics. Oh so you don't like work out, knock it out now, they just genetically like that. Like his arms is just cocky like that, and you and all his puffs you know that? Yeah, Wow, shout out to him. Probably a terrible father man. You don't even know all his kids. That's what I mean. He's fucked up.

Bi polar is a bad day anyway. So you say, Young Jr. Just dropped, and JR Just dropped, Skinny Tea dropped tomorrow, Fantee drop on twenty fifth dollar, Dame drop on the fourteen. That's all in February, and then ship we got Mac got de Bot dropping on the third, Little Steve happen. We're working, man, Like you know, if you're in tuning me, then you're gonna be in tuning timm me see what's going on. Just bang, just drop my nephew j money about to drop. Man, were working,

I ain't doing no plan. Not gambling on the game obviously, because you don't even know who's in it. You're not gambling on the Super Bowl. No, no, come on, I don't gamble on none. I can't control. Well, then what do you gamble on? I used to gamble shooting dice. You can't control that myself. I'm shooting dice, but you can't control with the dice. Bet on myself where you shoot? You bet on the next man. I'm gonna say, were you shooting with some loaded dice? No? No, no, I'm

not going to bet on the next man. I don't know. You know what I'm saying, that go out. He might be having a bad day. He's like, I only bet on myself, and if I provide the dice to the game.
