The standards the MTB industry should use

Following an utterly frustrating experience trying to fix a couple of bits on his bike, Tom got so annoyed with the lack of standardisation in compatibility of bike parts he compiled a list of the standards the mountain bike industry should just use. Did his colleagues Rob and Seb agree?
