Big Takeaways
Design Tips:
- Everything doesn’t have to be matchy-matchy. Think white on white, or another color using multiple shades.
- When choosing the right color palette, ideas to come up with colors, think what color is most.
- Plan your color palette first! This will help you make all the decisions that follow.
- Design a mood board - start big picture then narrow things down. Give your wedding day a life and a story.
- What are the things you gravitate towards? Narrow down from there.
- Have a common denominator throughout that appears minimally but ties the day together.
- Design your weddings with your guests in mind. How will they know what is next?
Wedding Myths:
- It is your day - it is both parties of the couple. Not just one or the other. It’s also your guests day. Remember everybody. Find boundaries with parents, and guests, it is your special day, but mind the fact that all the guests are there to celebrate and have fun too.
- Everything will be perfect - don’t go into the planning thinking this, there never has and never will be a “perfect” wedding.
- Every single detail needs to be unique - you don’t need to out do your friends.
- You shouldn’t pick the first gown/first vendor - if you like it, you like it!
- You should have a one year engagement.
- You need to spend your money on your wedding - another comparison trap. A modest budget still allows for special weddings.
- Hiring family is the same as hiring professional - It can be done, it is doable. But remember you get do get what you pay for.
- You need to have a white gown, and be escorted by your father - there are so many ways you can do this. You don’t have to fit into a standard that you don’t relate to. Meghan Markle walked herself down the aisle
- You can’t see each other before the wedding.
- Guests can’t wear black or white.
