Sometimes the thing we need protection from is words. People can destroy one another with their tongues if not their thoughts and attitudes. The phrase, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" is simply not true. Perhaps spoken by one who was trying to have tough skin, but the truth is that words can be very powerful. We need to use them wisely and well.
