BA Bites - Mythbusting Business Analysis is part of our BA Bites series: 2 min top tip for Business Analysts

Today, we're tackling some common myths about business analysis.

Myth number one: Business analysts are just glorified note-takers. Wrong! While capturing requirements is important, BAs wear many hats. We analyse needs, bridge communication gaps, and ensure projects align with business goals.

Myth number two: BAs only deal with software development. Not true! We can be involved in any project requiring business process improvement, from marketing campaigns to product launches.

The Better Business Analysis Institute presence, the Better Business Analysis podcast with Kinsman Walsh. Hi everybody. It's Ben from the Better Business Analysis Institute and this is going to be your BA bite. That is right. I'm studying a 2 minute summary show for the next couple of weeks where we are just going to go straight into two minutes around the topic to get straight to the point. And this week we're getting into myth busting business analysis.

OK, so we are going to talk about some common myths about business analysis. And the number one myth that I hear about all the time is that BAS are just glorified note takers. This is completely wrong. Well capturing requirements is important and documentation we have a net for documentation is important around light documentation and conciseness. And we're kind of experts in the area. BAS wear many hats, OK? We don't just take notes, we do analysis.

Our whole point is to define the why and the what and writing things down is important. Publishing documentation is not so important. We analyse needs, we bridge communication gaps and we ensure that projects align with business goals, right. That is our job as more of a mapping and to provide clarity. Large documentation does not provide clarity and the number 2 myth that I get asked a lot is that B as only deal with IT and software development.

This is not true. We can be involved in any project requiring business process improvement, from marketing campaign to product launches to any industry we can get involved in that. So they're two myths and I hope you learned something from this BA bite. I'll see you next week.
