Episode description

Hitting our protein goals after surgery is important for so many reasons, but we bet your surgeon never told you *why* it is so important. Turns out, protein is a critical nutrient that allows cells to be built and hormone signals to be sent! It also helps your body not eat away at your muscles as you are losing weight…who knew!

We sat down with one of our amazing BariNation Experts Jeannie Boyer, RD to get the breakdown on all things protein! We wanted to know:

  • What protein is and why our bodies need it
  • What makes a protein complete and incomplete, and why it matters
  • What our bodies do with protein and why too little,or too much protein, can be bad for our systems
  • If our bodies can only absorb 30 grams at a time
  • And what are some of the “biggest bang for our buck” protein sources!

Protein is critical to our post-op recovery and our long-term success. It’s time to give this macronutrient its place in the spotlight! Follow Jeannie on Instagram @barisuccussrd and visit her online at www.jeannieboyer.com to learn about her one-on-one nutritional coaching sessions!

If you don’t follow us on Instagram, you are missing out! We are @bari.nation and we hope to see you there soon! You can also visit us at www.barination.com

You've got this and we've got you!
