even saying it like that. I'm just saying I have, Like I think I grew up on TV. Everything I learned was from TV or music, So you know, I want my kids have access. So yeah, my kids watch it all day, so I pay for the Netflix, So I'm supporting. And not only that, if you look at it, the NBA players, you know, you can see their face on the court, right, you can see them. NFL players everybody got on helmets, so they're cheering for the helmet. They're not cheering for the faces. You know. In the most important position in the NFL

is quarterback, and you know most of them are. And for the first time ever, we finally had to black African American players playing. Well, you know, I think I think we should get Michael Vick Moore pro. You know a lot of these guys are old enough, these guys at the age where they was like kids seeing Michael Vick run the ball. And now, if you pay attention to the to the way it works. They're old now, so now they're like man, they was seven, eight, nine,

ten years old and Vic was running. So now these guys figured out I could be a quarterback. So we have that, we have that thing happening now. So I'm excited. Alright, if you gotta see Rihanna and right, y'all see how Asap was like holding them. It was hard. That was artistic. Man, that was dope. Stop. No, you didn't like it, right, I think that. But you can tell when there's an agenda being pushed on us, you know, and the guy is being he's following the woman, and the woman is leading the family and the guys holding the baby in his hand. The man should always be the leader of the family because he's the person that protects people, so he should be in the front because that's what his job is, to protect his family. But you know, that's a whole nother story.

So you didn't you didn't like where he security. You were not an agreeiance with the positioning of the I'm not gonna say I'm not in agreeance. I'm gonna say that I think that there's a slight agenda being pushed and I think that that fits the narrative. And you know, if that was my family, I would have been in the front. I don't mind holding the baby, but I feel like the man should always be in the front leading because that's the man's job is to protect and

You Bitty Barnes brought Rock City to Tampa, and um I was hosting d J was djan And that's the first time I met you. And then when I saw you guys, I was like, man, I gotta move to Atlanta. I moved to Atlanta and I will slip your intern for what maybe ten months, I didn't

even know that. I didn't know either. Yeah, yeah, I was doing Street Team and all types of ship and then um we started linking. And then I've known you. I always liked you. You and Dave like to my favorite people that I've met period, Like in the game, you've actually saw me come from zero. Yeah, and I's and I'm and I'm and when you hit me, I was like, you were working in Scope at the time. Correct, he was signed the inter Scope. I think I was

working for Motown at that time. Town. Yeah. Please bragging yourself a little bit. I don't know, to be honest with you, I don't know how to brag on myself. Okay, well, okay, how to raise days? Get a start? Um? Somebody asked me to help them that I went to high school with, uh, a young musician. Yeah, he was an artist, artist, producer, writer. He wanted me to help him. So, uh, he said to me, since we were in seventh grade, I always talked and people listening. So I was working a regular

nine of five. I was trying to figure my life out. So when he asked me to help him, I was like, maybe this is a guy want me to do. And I jumped in head first. Um, and that guy didn't make it and I'm here, So that was what God wanted me to do. You just you, just you, you just not even give me some more. So well you know, because okay, so let me tell what it is. Let's

sell what is so let me get an example. I feel like we all at this table of dreamers right, And I think we all are like, I don't think our parents understand what we're doing. You know what I'm saying, streamers right, Okay? So you know, for me, we all we all are here because we had a dream. And I'm pretty sure all of us have met someone that we looked up to and got in the room with him and was like, how the fund did they get? Right?

So my thing is, I think a lot of us brag on what we do when we should open our mouth and when you're hear us talk, you can know what we do. So I don't really know how to brag on what I do. I just talk about what I do. And I think people tend to figure out like rock City, this nigga know his ship rock City? Yeah, and then who's next? Uh, Well, I built city. I built rock City. I worked at in Epic and I worked with Sierra. What was your job? And UM shout out to l A read love that guy. UM left

Epic to go to in the Scope? Was that in the Scope? And then when was your job at in the Scope? Vice Presidency? And UM left in the Scope because I quit in the Scope because I felt like they were I just didn't like the way. It felt like collecting the check and not being able to do anything, and I feel like being you know us all being here. I didn't. My dream wasn't to make money. You know,

money is a by product of being successful. My dream was to be someone, and I just felt like they were paying me to be someone that I didn't want to be. So I quit. Uh. Then I went in to work at Warner Uh. And you know, I did pretty good there. I made him a lot of money. I did you know? I did Sweeties best Friend record? Did Sweeties tap in? Sign Eneli Choppola signed rmble Uh? Yeah, I put. I put all of you married him a

lot of money on the board. But then, you know, you start realizing as you work at these companies that they want your influence, they just don't want your voice. So I decided to just I started a new company called l y I, which stands for Leverage your Influence. And I decided to bet on myself. And here I am simple as that. You still manage one of the

biggest songwriters in the country. One Record of the Year at the Grammys with Lizzo's About Damn Time and you can't wait to put the plaque up for that one. Uh a lot man, we got, I mean connotes a lot of those biggest record, big energy. Um Man, it's so crazy because I don't really know how to watch my work. I just do the work. And for me,

it's like when you. I feel like most of us lose because we're so busy watching I work, waiting for a celebration that happened, and I don't live by that creed. I live by this. I'm the same You know this. You've been my friend for over fifteen years. I'm the same person I was from the minute I came in. The minute that I changed that thought process is the minute that I lose it all the minute that I walked like I mean no, every day I wake up willing to earn my keep. Every day I wake up

willing to do the work. And good ship happened for me. Live ba. My mom ain't worked in ten years, and I ain't won't never work, damn never mansion. Yeah, my mom living the mansion, driving a nice range of but everything paid off. My mom ain't gonna never work a day in the life. And that's because of what we've done in the music business. So I honor that process. How do you feel about when artists have of shoes when they're talking about their contracts being signed to a label.

I talked about this a lot. I think that I think you gotta take the good with the good, the battle with the battle with anything in life. I think that Lebron James we just talked about, I think Lebron James is underpaid and he makes more money than probably everybody on his team right. So for me, it's just the way of the world. You gotta if you're an artist, you knew what you were signed, and you took the check. You knew that you knew how much was in it

for you. I see a lot of artists. It's so crazy because when I try to do deals an artists, I'm always the first question every artist asking for saying how much money? I'm like, why does that matter? Let me tell you why. Because my first year in the music business, I mean my first year, oh five, I made like seventy eighty tho dollars That money was going by the end of the year. So that means I gotta make more money oh six, oh seven, oh eight, And here we are in two thousand twenty three. I'm

still making more money. And the reason why it's because I honored my word and honor the process, rather than saying, damn, I should be making more. Damn, I should be this. When I did what I did for Warner, I made him a whole lot of money. I could have stayed there and been like yo, but no. If the way guy worked it out, it was different. I could have went and begged for a job. But I know me enough to know my damn like. It's like Sean, like for Ferrari, no Ferrari. Since he was, you know, since

I was, I have named my phone Sean. There is a thing. Whether he worked at Streets, whether he worked at V, whether he works at ball Alert, wherever he is, I still see Sean. And he called me I'm coming. I don't get so you've never told me no come, and my thing is bt same thing ever y'all ever called me I'm coming. So the reason why is because it doesn't matter what brand you work for. It don't matter you are the brand. And once I figured that out, I was like, Damn, I could I could be the

guy that represents Warner. I could be the guy that represents in the scope. I could be the guy that represents epic. I could be the guy that represents my fucking self and I'll take the good, the good, the bad with the bad that come with that. And that's just where I'm at with it. So my companies called y because I wanted people to see their influence. I want people to see themselves, like with all of us out here chasing money when we should be building value

and leveraging that value for ourselves. So that's so, you know, that's why I'm at with it. Man. So when you're building value, you can't focus on what you did because you gotta wake up and build with value tomorrow. Got to build value the next day. I take the weekends off when i'm with my kids because I gotta be normal at some time. But yeah, my only goal is waking up building value, and that's it. That's what I've been doing. Speaking of value, what do you think about

everybody selling their publisher? Now, um, that's a good question. I think it's a so I think it's a good idea. Uh became a multimillionaire off those deals, so I'm never gonna say it's a bad deal. But here's a good part. We sold a piece of we sold part of our catalog that was from oh seven of two thousand fifteen, right, okay, we sold that, But Nigga two thousand fifteen to two thousand twenty, we did more records, more hits, Lizzo, Sierra,

every DOJ cat got out of that deal. Now we're in a new deal and we got hits with Lizzo, Cardi everybody. I'm a worker. I don't you know how to look at it? And I look at it. I have a theory and it's gonna sound disgusting to you, but this is how I just want to be honest. I'll tell me. I wanted to tell me your name, Octavia. Nice thing. If somebody came to Octavia said I want to buy a couple of your piss, you would sell it right get like, where is this going? No, you wouldn't.

I don't know, Tavia. Somebody came here and said me get a thousand US for your piss, You're not gonna say what are you gonna do with it? Like what I'm gonna use the restroom right now? I'm actually gonna do that. Okay, So I'm not gonna just sell my whatever like that's DNA you flush it down the toilet, but you flush it every day. So my thing is this, So I couldn't work with you then because you don't see the world why I do it. What I see it is is you're gonna piss them all. I'm gonna

piss four or five times a day. So somebody wanna buy a couple of piss. I'm a pist today. I'm a piston. Momna keepiss. I'm never gonna stop as long as I'm alive, I'm gonna use the restroom. So if you want to buy it, I'm gonna sell it. So as long as you're going, you're fine. Now. If you're gonna stop, then that's different. Now it's like, man, I don't know again, I'm gonna sell it. Okay, cool, that's what it's worth something. But as long as you're gonna

pis tomorrow, then who cares. So for me, it's like sell your catalog for two reasons, either because you continue to go or you decided you want to stop. And it's that simple, you know it's But if you're doing it to make a check, that shouldn't be gone tomorrow because money goes fast. Um, can you talk about your podcast? You started the podcast. Yeah, I don't like your podcast. You be talking that I didn't even know I started. I didn't even know I started the podcast. Just start first,

you you first star, just started talking on Instagram. Yeah, yeah, that's what I really did. Then then it came came into it because first it was tweets. It twee tweets, and it was tweets because the video. It was tweets because I worked that Warner and when you worked for major label, your voice has to be silenced. So like say, if I worked at a major company, how I have to ask the permission to do this show? If I was an A and R marketing guy, whatever, I gotta

ask the permission. Yeah, yeah, asked the permission. You gotta, and now only guys permission. They want to know what are you gonna be talking about? What's going on? Because what happens if I say something dumb up here, They're not gonna say Ray Daniel said it. They're gonna say Ray Daniels of and it's got records said something that I respect it. But so I was tweeting because I couldn't use my voice. And then as soon as I left Warner, I started putting out videos, and I didn't

want to go ask for another job. I didn't want to go ask for another job. I just felt like I was bigger than that, and maybe that's me being arrogant. And I was like, man, put the camera in front of my face and asked me a question once a day. So I would do that, and then all of a sudden, people everywhere I would go, people be like, no, could gradual on the podcast always? But then you made it and it's called people calling me to do I thought that was a podcast. I didn't start a podcast. I

just started podcast. What I was like, I was like, oh, he's in clue. And then even then this is and this is I always this. This podcast is an experiment, by the way, for artists. What's the name of it, god show It stands for goats and underdogs. But this podcast was it was an experiment. The Jamain the Jermaine Dupre clip was the one that took it over the top too, because you you had started, you had started some some like you know that's what that's what actually

puffed is the first person that put it on. But there's the person that really set the podcast off because he posted one of my videos setting me out, and then he deleted everything off his page and it was just my video time for like four days. And that was when everything changed for me. Um, you know, because even though I know my peers were probably frowning upon it, saying what you're gonna do anytime you're doing some different people that know you're gonna be like, what the hell

are you doing? But I just had I was just like, man, like I said, it was a really it was really a social experiment and I didn't have And the reason why I didn't have guests was because I have so many theories in business, but I feel like most people want to tell people what they're doing, and I want to tell people what I did. So for me, it was like, how can I come to somebody say hey, I'm starting a podcast. I already know what your response

is gonna be in your head? Is you Everybody's doing that? Every doing everyone's doing it. So I remember calling a friend of mine, like real close friend of mine. I was like, yeah, I think I started a podcast. It's like two years ago. He was like, I do the interview later, and I mean it's one of my close friends. I was like, damn, I couldn't get mad at him because I'm like, I'm just like everybody else. So I'm like, just put a camera in front of me and let's

talk about all the equipment. And then all of a sudden it turned into something and now it's I don't even call it a podcast. I don't believe in the word pot it's a show. That's why it's called the show. Famous here, Like when you call it a podcast, I think you put yourself in the box. For me, I feel like this ship is TV. This is premium content with premium My kids don't know the difference between HBO

and YouTube. That's the fact. That's difference. My thing is that the only difference is is that you know, they want to established yourself as premium content and one establish yourself as pre content with ads. But the fans don't care. So for me, it was like I'm just gonna call it the show and whatever comes when it comes with it. I still haven't made a dollar from it, by the way, and because I didn't enjoying it, didn't know what I

was doing. And that's another thing, like something for money, you're gonna always look for the money after everything you do and if you do something because you love it, then you just love the process of it. So for me, the fun part has been I remember one of you know. Another thing that I think we all under estimate is the power of our phones. I think, like, it's so weird to me how many people are chasing things when

you have a phone in your hand. And if you have a thousand people, a thousand people can fill up center stage. You know. I looked at so I looked at social media differently. That's why I said this was a social experiment. My first time going outside after I put the show out was that revoked. I couldn't take three fucking steps. Everywhere I went, it was how about this?

I didn't even have a ticket. I was trying to go get my ticket, and when I came up to the front door, they was like Ray, Ray, and everybody put him in. Where's your panel? And I'm like, I don't. I had so I had a pass, but I had to go pick it up. So I'm walking to the front of this long line to ask where's will call? So as I walked to the front, I didn't even

know what The girl watched. She said, Ray, let him in, who's with you let him and I got walked in and I couldn't take three steps every like puff, people will talcome to me like I love you, and I was like, damn, this ship is kind of working, like I gotta So for me, it's the exciting part has been the social experiment because I feel like so many people are victims and I'll never allow myself to be a victim. I'm a victory. So the only way to be a victory is to get off your ass and try.

And you can laugh at me behind my back. I don't give a funk, But when it works, you're gonna be like, I do it because that's what people do. But I mean always, that's what people do, so you gotta want you just understand people. It's like, bro, just that's what when you call me him like nigga, what you need, I'm there. What you're doing, keep doing it, because as long as you don't stop doing it, you're fine.

When you stop and wait for the applause, when you hold your hand up and be like, look around, oh you lost. I don't give a funk who's watching. I don't give a funk who's not watching. I'm gonna get up every day, and I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do, and I'm gonna either benefit from it or I'm gonna learn from it, but I'm always gonna win. Alright, Cool, appreciate you. Ray. But being the guy, fearing person that I am, I can't stop thinking about how bad this is and I want to say something, but I do not know what to do. Should I leave this alone or that I do something, Do some more digging and find out exactly what happened and deal and handle with this situation need you all opinions on this. Thank you. the coach? All I know is she said, my man took a bride, so he took some money. I overheard my man talking about somebody taking money for him making sure their sons started in a high school basketball game. So he is the coach. Sounds like it. And if he's taking money to start kids at a basketball game, you should be concerned because I'm gonna tell you what happened. He take that money and them kids don't start. She needs to grow up sometimes and listen. Let me tell

you something. If Sean is running a radio station and I call him and say, give my son an opportunity, it feels like a bride, but he's gonna probably do it because I have favor with him. Use to use it. You. Nepotism is good. If a father or mother could help their kids get on, then get the funk on, Like, why are you worried about that? Grow up? Don't worry about that to me? It's like to me, it's like worry about if so many the things you need to be worried about, why you worn't about a damn game?

It's a game that father just leading with ego, trying to get his kid on the game. Who cares? Who? Why do you care? If defend? Now, what you should care about is if he took the money and spent it on another broad Now that's when he's doing. But if he took the money and spenting on you, then you won. And to me, I feel like like the one thing I learned is that, you know, one of the biggest lesson to learn in life was cheat to win, cheat the wind, cheat the wind. Yeah, I'm only concerned

about you found out and now your conscious is fucked up. Uh, I am a little concerned. I am concerned. I don't know what to tell you that too. He didn't even know he was in for a past couple of months. So when the position opened, I interviewed some cats, but I really only had one person really that was really interesting and he should be Oh Tom and Tom again. We had those conversations. He's ready. He wanted to come over to the record side open to warning my boy, you're you're in the records and I feel good. Time to you know, keep leveling up, making

my folks proud. You know, Like I said, I wanted to do it with Ray because Ray saw me like I had a day job when I met Ray, ye and and um les apartments at least his apartment, at least a lot of people in apartments. So like Ray saw me like, you know what I'm saying, like at the very beginning of you know what I'm saying my care Yeah, So you know, I just wanted, you know, continue making Yeah. Yeah.
