Alright, the Automo is back on the air. It is another victory Monday for the Miami Dolphins three and oh after a win over the Oakland Raiders yesterday. This is the Automo. Ed Moore's Automotive Group has your back with promise that their price is the lowest. Make sure your next vehicles backed by Morris in their exclusive price production promise. Visit ed Morris dot com and check them out. While we're talking to him here on the i'd like talking

about people in the audible. They're doing good things out there, and Ed Moore's doing a lot of good things. Let me tell you something. Real good family Teddy as good and as big a Dolphin fan as you'll ever get. You're up there with him. Man, he doesn't want to socialize. He wants to watch every player game. Yeah, he's serious about And Joe, speaking of watching the game, Um, what a game to watch yesterday? It was a it was a crazy here what I'm gonna tell you what. I'm

sitting down there, Joe. And it was hot out there, and and the script was a little different than we wanted because it was our defense was out there the majority of time getting worn out with the heat out there. Well, the Raiders are sitting over there, their defense is sitting over there, just kind of hanging out, chilling over there and everything. So um, but it was a game that really, Joe, I'm going into the fourth quarter, goo, man, you know, I don't know, I don't know how we're gonna dig

out of this thing. It's gotta happen. It's gotta happen. Now it goes seventeen seven. They go on a long drive. But I'm thinking, what you are, Well, you can't wear out the Raider defense if you don't make them play. And they were just having drive after nice drive and and chewing up a lot of minutes seventeen seven, couple of minutes left in the third and uh, that's when Adam Gaze was absolutely at his best with this play.

Cons just absolutely per perfected trick plays, setting up past plays, matchups, getting everybody involved. Boat is beautiful man. And and and you know you talked about the drive that they took the ball late in the game, take the ball right down the field, and you go, oh, my goodness, this is gonna be one of these things. And then X comes up second interception of the day, and you talk about. You know, we've watched him grow over the last half

full of years. And you know, you really kind of saw him last year towards the last second half of that season, really blossom into what you thought he was gonna be when they drafted him. And and and now this year he has just become a shutdown guy. And you want to throw maybe the biggest play at the biggest point in the game, he goes up, takes the ball away, perfect position, and gives it off as an opportunity. And boy, I'll tell you what it's. It's it was.

He's become a beast out there less two weeks in a row in the red zone when we needed to stop to to keep the lead and get the most switched back. And he has just been bo right now. And I know we're not even a quarterway through the season. He's playing at a Pro Bowl, any question, pro level, no, no question about it. Now. Now, there was some bad news in the game. Uh uh, you know, we lose We lose William Hayes, the defensive end, defensive tackle. Who

you know, Joe. We were with him. I was just sitting there next to him at the game at the St. Thomas game, from when we did high school football on Friday night with the Audible. I was sitting next to him talking to him during the game, and you know, and you see him go down and he just likes it's it's gut wrench because we're talking just about he just he's so excited about high school football, so excited

about playing, getting ready for the game and stuff. And then you find then then you find out the tears in a c l and and he's gone for the season, and and this that one hurts. That one hurts because he's one of my favorite players, one of my favorite players, because you know, he's always gonna give you what he's got. And you talk about he's a run guy. He's a run guy. But he's done some pretty good things in

the past. Game too fresh one before he got injured, or to to as good a place as you're gonna see, and to see the way he goes down just you break your heart. And you knew right away it was bad by his reaction because he's a tough son of a gun. He got some other injuries out there, Derby's out there and but he he could be back. I know. Bobby McCain went under the tent. I don't know what his situation is gonna be. Uh as far as concussion protocols or anything. Who else we got nicked up out there?

Um uh Andre Branch I'm not not sure what you know what the you know what that's gonna be there. They're all listening to day to day. Um. But hey, look you know what, you know there's a week a week ago, next man up and you get him going. Uh at this point in the in the in the uh at this point in the season, Chase Allen also lost him and he was big. Yeah, he was big because you know he stepped in two weeks ago and they were using him instead of Joe Baker in the

run game. And that's really what struggle that they struggled with last you know, both sides of the ball is that's that was the biggest struggle all day, running the football when you have they all had the ball, and stopping their running game when they had the football because they just they just kinda I mean with Marshawn Lynch, I mean they were just four in five yard chunks and when you thought you had him stopped for three, he'd grind out four more for you. But he Uh,

he made a lot of guys missed tackles. Uh, he broke a lot of tackles. It seemed like on first down he was getting five, six, seven, eight yards every time and putting them in a great opportunity for Carter if you wanted to throw up, which he does love to throw it. But yeah, overall the line, that's what made this so amazing. Bow I couldn't run the football.

The penalties came back, the penalty bug was back again, and yet they still found a way to score twenty one points in the last quarter and a couple of minutes. Just amazing. So that game, watching that game, um, you know Ryan, Ryan was very efficient I mean throwing the football, I mean boom boom. Had you know that the problem with the problem with moving the ball down the field wasn't him throwing the football. It was a lack of the running game and and the penalties in the passing game.

You know, you had a couple of big first down I think Amondola called back. Uh, you had another one I think to Gore called back from a from a holding penalty, and and those listen talking to listen to Bob during the broadcast, look not only you lose the ten yards and penalty yards, but you lose the twenty that you made up on the play, and so you start buddling those numbers together and it's it's big numbers. But look that that was. So that was one of

those games. It was just it which is a hard fought dog fight game out there, and and the the in snap the in snap penalties, to me, Joe, are hard to are hard to fault guys for when the game is being contested the way that one was. Yeah, and I don't usually complain about calls, but I thought, I think there was some bad calls, really bad calls. Kinney Steeles. We we saw it up there and it

was a real crap call. It just was awful. It's one that Adam Gates call is about and they go, yeah, we we missed on that's clearly trying to get away from the guy who comes up and makes the contact. That was a terrible call. So Jachim that called Jachim on on on nothing, nothing, call on stuff that we watch everybody do to the Dolphins through the years and

and have great success. But I will tell you, on a positive note, this is about as fast a group of guys bow as I've seen and I was, like I said this morning, it turned from a football to attract me. When you start looking at Albert speed, you start looking at Jackie speed, and you look at Kenny Steels running by guys, Uh, they are fun to watch me and they really are at the speed and and and the calls great and it looked like Adam Gates took everything out of the book of like it's time

to throw this in. Well, Joey, it kind of fits though. I mean, if you looked at the game, you know, they're trying to penetrate there, trying to run the ball in the side, trying to pound it, pounded, pounded, not

getting anything. And so next thing, you know, all of a sudden, now they're starting the perimeter and they're starting misdirection, and they're starting change and you know, going one way coming back the other way, and so you know you've kind of got you kind of got that radar defense bottled up in the middle there say Okay, this is how we're gonna get out, and there was how we get wide and tell those plays work, you know, Joe, those play don't rarely you see one play like that work.

As well as one of those day. But to have two plays, three plays like that work, it was pretty pretty amazing. You're talking about a thirty four, thirty six, fifty and a seventy yard play bow and all of a sudden, three of those are touchdowns. You gotta go. I'll tell you something else. Adam Gates didn't that game that I really liked. I thought it was important to get Davante Parker first game back. He catches the take off, that's some point. He got everybody involved. It looked like

bow at times. I go out, it seemed like all five receivers were playing with DeVante back. They were all in there, and they weren't. Of course, there was three of them get sick. He played a lot as well, But man, I had I did a good job get everybody involved in the game plan, where both we talked about when it's over, everybody feels like they're a part of it. Yeah, you know, it was nice. It was nice to see DeVante back, uh, you know, and we hope that he stays healthy and continues to to play

it the way we we we want to play. But we've seen us and downs from him. But I'm with you, getting the ball, making sure he had the ball, making sure he was part of it, and the whole thing. It just you know it, You know what it does, because I gotta feel if you're a guy like Davante Parker and what you've gone through in the situation and you come in with a lot of promise this year and boom, all of a sudden, you break your finger.

Now you're out for a while. You gotta be thinking to yourself, and you know, when you're by yourself, he's where do I fit here? What's my situation? You know? Am I getting run? You know? These guys are all making big plays. I'm not. I'm not playing. They're sitting there playing this and that. And you know that that that that that digs he digs down in your soul, you know when you play this game and to be able to get back and he comes right to you and feel like you it's almost like, hey, come on,

let's give you a big hug. Here. You're You're still part of us, You're still one of our guys. We still want you know, we still want you to be on our team. We still want you to make plays, we want you to enjoy what the guys are enjoying. So you're right. I think getting him in the game, getting him, getting him to uh, getting him involved in the game, big big move on the whole staffs part. And after the game, I went in the locker room. I just had to get a fil couldn't get enough

of what had just happened. So I went in there. Kenny Steals is talking to Davante Parker before he left, and and I just went, you know, Kenny, besides what he's done on the football field, three touchdowns already, but I was thinking, he's working behind the scenes man like coach case. I get it why he thinks he wanted leaders on the team. He was like, hey, there's more to come. He was talking to Vante and we're talking about Hey, I'll see you later. And I went, wow,

that's pretty cool. Yeah, and let me tell you Kenny Stills. I said, look, Joe, we see him every every we go to high school football every week. Here he is, goes to every game, goes every game, and he and he's out in the community and he does things. And look, I know there's people, there are people out there that look at Kenny Stills and you know they they've just got nothing but bad things to say about him and in his position that he's taken with this football team.

But you know this guy, this guy goes out to the community each and every week, reaches out to kids. He was at the veterans hospital last week. He goes he rides along with the police department to go into the inner cities and try to talk to the kids that say about hey, look, the police aren't your enemy. They're they're your friends if you you know, if you treat them the way, they're gonna treat you the way you treat them. And and he goes out and he

delivers his message. And I don't think people I don't think people get that. And that and and and that that carries over into the way he he manages himself in the locker room and on the football team. Just like you talked about. He reaches out, you know, reaches out inclusion, bringing people together. So you know, I just I just think he gets I just think he gets a bad knock to me, he's become really become one of my Look, I can go down the list of

guys on this team, my favorite guys. Every that's my favorite. I told my wife, who doesn't know a lot about the guys. And we're talking last night, I said, man, I said, it is just a really good group of guys. Like I just want to tell all the fans, like, Hey, I've been around some teams that have had a lot of turds and a lot of individuals and a lot of guys that will just kill your team. I've been around a few good guys. We've been around wild guys. Christian,

that's a really good group of guys. This group we have, well, they're they're all, they're all. They're all single minded. They're all single minded about the goal being a better football team, winning football games, and doing it as a whole group enjoy it. Kind of reckons me back to we we were very fortunate when we played. Look, although we had some on the team that we didn't you know, you didn't deal with like to deal with or whatnot. But um, you know, the vast majority of our team, you know,

you cared for everybody. You were happy whenever. Even even if it's a guy that's that's trying to take your job and makes a play, you're happy for him. You know. It's so and you really see a lot of that, and and you know teams are so close. The talent level on every team of this from the worst to the last, is so close that sometimes it takes more than blocking, tacking, tackling, catching, throwing. It takes more than that.

There's some intangible in there that sometimes you need that intangible And no, you probably saw it last year when you saw the Philadelphia Eagles go on the run. They went on you know, intangibles, you get your backup quarterback comes in and they rally around. So it always takes something like that, and you're starting to believe that this football team has that intangible. I don't know where they're gonna go. I don't know how many games are gonna win.

All I know is what they've done. Now, they've you know, they've they've fought their way to three wins without really haven't played their best, their best football across the board, we haven't playing the played a really great game in every aspect of the game. But they're finding ways to win. And so it makes you believe that maybe this football team has that little intangible something in there that's gonna

drive them. Two good things. I still I agree there's still a better game to coma a more consistent game when you were talking about hey for everybody, and and early the first couple of weeks a while, you beat Tennessee. So what well, Uh, Tennessee went into Jacksonville yesterday everybody thought the best team and they may be the best team in the ANFC. They beat them. Bow and oh, by the way, the Bills are supposed to be so bad.

They pounded Minnesota, who everybody thought might be the best team or one of the two or three best teams in the NFC. So Bow, like you said, if you don't bring at some point, you're a game. And the Dolphins have done it late, they've done it early. They've come up with a lot of big plays, got eight takeaways. If you don't do some of those things, Bo, you don't win games in this league. I look at it

a different way. And I was thinking about this when I was when I was driving home, uh, because I heard heard someone say, um, and I go, this goes back to the one in fifteen year and then and then they come in the next year and go ten and six and get to the playoffs under the Sperrantos eleven and five. I'm sorry, yeah, and go to the playoffs and all year long I'm here in We'll go, oh, they got a soft schedule, and I'm going wait a minute. They were one in fifteen. They were the soft schedule.

The Dolphins were the soft schedule. Dolphins were the soft schedule, and everybody's schedule. Everybody's in this football team today, this football team right now. What was happening in the middle. They were, Oh, they're the thirty second best team. Well no, maybe not the thirty second best, but they're thirty one at best. Well you know what, And I heard someone go, well, you know a schedule, they're a soft schedule. If you're here, people are picking you to be the thirty first ranked

team in this league. You're the soft schedule for everybody. Nobody's soft, and the only person that's soft is that team is at thirty two. That's it. You got no business day and it's a soft schedule. When everyone's got you ranked at the bottom of the heat many I'll tell you what, Uh, you're right about that. And those

preseason power polls they weren't not the bullshit. That's for all you people out there to have listened to this this podcast and go on, you know so and so out in San Francisco has the Dolphins went to do it when they were assholes? What did they know? You know? I mean, damn, you gotta be around there, geen to figure out what the hell they're about a little bit, you know. Yeah. So anyway, you know what, I was happy to get that off my chest. Is there anything else?

There is? The look? They're still more in there? You know that, Joe, you know they're still more in there. Oh. Sometimes I just need an igniter, you know, I just need to I just need someone to flick the switch, you know. Anyway, anyway, let's get back to Let's get back to the task at hand here, Joe, um, Uh, I could not couldn't help it. Man, you just got me go. You know how to stick me? Yet? Stick me? Hey? So so I'm having this conversation. Uh. During the post games,

haw were sitting wait through three games. Through three games, my m v P and his team is Jachim Grant or Albert Will maybe one of those two. Each of made big plays in every game, noticeable plays, plays that made a difference in virtually every game. Guys that you would you normally wouldn't think of those guys in that vein. I keep going back to Jakim, you know, a year ago training camp. If he if he drops two punts

in the preseason, he ain't on this team. Yeah. Hey, by the way, there were a lot of guys that cover the team every day. They thought there was no slam dunk he was gonna be back because of his problems catching punts and being consistent. And look at him now, look at how big a part. And again it goes back a lot of Dadam Gates because he's using him

absolutely the right way right now. So he's got three touchdowns both the X man is taking it up and his two red zone interceptions the last two weeks, uh have been big. He's got to be the last two weeks because the first week didn't even throw the ball. But that's just respect, man, I mean, he he's got to get some serious consideration. I know it's just a corner. He's not scoring touchdowns, but he's got to be up there.

But I'm with you on those other two guys both, Uh, the three speechers on offense have eight touchdowns now on this team, eight touchdowns. When you look at Grant, Albert Wilson and Kenny Steals eight touchdowns unbelievable. And if you want to throw in nine on a pass play, he's responsible on a great throw that he made yesterday, just uh, let that throw he makes coming around. Of course he's

a former quarterback and played that. But it's impressive. Though. Hey, how about a couple of the throws that uh that that Ryan's made now? He throwing one through one down the far side and I think that was I think that was the one to that was the right was a DeVante. He dropped it down over the top. I was thinking, I thought you were throwing was Kinny Steals in the back of the ends that one too, that

one the sideline, that one. I mean, for all those guys out there that you know, that's still you know, kind of grab ahold of the Handehills can't throw the ball deep downfield. Well, you know, I think that's that's that's that's been debunked. That that that's a part of his that's a problem in his game. You know what else? Amazing? Um, the run blocking wasn't there. Past protection still really good.

I know play action helped a little bit, especially when we start going on first down yesterday, but man, given Ryan Tannehill time to look and by the way, if somebody's not open, hit us a huge nineteen yard run yesterday that he catches him in man Deman and and got things going with that. And there was a couple of times where he just moved around in the pocket and avoided avoided. So when he moved up and was able to get so he can slide around, well, well,

you know what it is. You've gotta be comfortable with your protection if you're gonna if you're gonna start sliding around in that pocket like he's done. And so I think that's a big part of of what he's been able to do out there. And look, Ryan and Ryan will be the first of it. He hasn't played his best game. I think Ryan is just getting more and

more comfortable each and every game. And I don't I don't think he's gonna probably hit his stride until you know, week we five or six, maybe seven in this But Joe, we we talked, talked about it when he came back. The consistency we're getting, you know, we're not getting that up and down that we got last year. You know where you got quarter quarter quarterback play was you didn't know what you're gonna get. For one week it was

it was as high as could be. The next week it was it was rock bottom, right, And you didn't know what you're gonna get each and every week Ryan. With Ryan Otark, you know you're gonna get a consistent effort and a consistent performance out of him each and every week. Now, there are may be weeks where he ends up with three interceptions and one touchdown, but you know it's it's gonna be it's gonna be a similar Ryan. I think that you see every week. You know it's

nice for him. Hain't those short passes and they're gonna be in fifty and sixty yard play one he basically handed off and got about sixty yards on I was gonna say, Bob Brisi made the comment yesterday, man, I'd love to have a couple of those. Just a one yard flip and a guy runs seventy yards. That's a seventy yard touchdown. That all that says, seventy touch yard touchdown pass baby. I don't know if you heard him.

After the game, one of the writers says, uh, hey, ryany and you know that those two touchdowns were passes. He goes, well, you think I didn't know that. He goes who says you have to make a perfect forty five yard pass, man you can. You can deal with those guys and the speed they have. Hey, ball, I wanted to bring something else. In past years, we've signed some veteran free agents that have just been real bad at the end of their careers, nothing left. Uh this

was their last stop. We've got a batch of him recently. Well, I'll tell you what so far, this group of veteran free agents, Am and Dola, that tough son of a gun, made some more catches. Uh, you look at something. The other guys are center, I go around one some cases traits and not just veterans whatever, whatever people you've brought me. We're getting a lot out of some guys getting some really good football, playing playing great form, doing a lot

of things. You talked about a Mondola, you know, and us you know you think he had sitting sitting and go down with the injury. He was doing the same thing. And kill Gore the center really doing good stuff. So yeah, they're you know, but but but Joe, when you you talk about those guys and they all kind of fit

the mold of of what all everyone else. You know, like I said that, they're over achievers of guys that that have gone out and found a way to get better each and every year in their career and play over their heads, and and and and so you've seen it happen here. Hey, By the way, you ever seen the linebacker run down a wide receiver. I saw a guy. I saw a guy wearing fifty five rundown and receiver was watching. I had to look because it was a

little blurry the numbers a little blurry. Was you're moving so fast? I couldn't I couldn't say it open. And I go, man, that that's got to be one of the corners. And I look him. That was that rookie linebacker that we have right now. Man. Yeah, so three weeks in, things are feeling pretty good. Huh, yeah, it's it's pretty good. You know, Listen, what's the experience been.

I thought, Yes, at that Stateium, it was awesome. It was loud, and you know, but for you you're you're coming from someplace where it's loud and you're playing in front a hundred five thousand people. But there's a difference between I think a differce between a college crowd in an NFL crowd. Are you sensing the difference there? Yeah, definitely. Uh. In college, most of your you know, your fans and

all that was loud as that it's in a student section. NFL, it's pretty much the whole stadium as well, So uh, it was definitely good to you know, see our fans out there again. Low for us. Hey, yuh, let's talk about yesterday's game. The way it started look like it

might be a blowout. I mean they're going down to make it fourteen to nothing right off the bat, and I just thought things slowed down and and it demoralize the Raiders a little bit when they didn't score down on that goal line and make a fourteen nothing a too score game instead at seven nothing. Did you feel that way with that stop? Yeah, definitely. Um, you know, we just never give up, even you'rren down, you know, receiver, it's just never give up. Even when you get down there.

We just don't let him in. So that was just a test of our character and we passed that. It was a dog fight out there yesterday. I mean, you know, they're they're they're moving the ball, they're running the ball, pounding the ball pretty much. The whole game, and you guys spent a lot of time out in the football field out there, and then guys started to have guys started going down with injuries and losing guys, so a lot of guys played a lot of extra extra time

out there. Um was there ever time in the huddle where where guys were down a little bit or you always felt like everyone's hey, look we we we got this under control. Don't worry about it. They're gonna turn around for us. Yeah. That that's the thing that makes us unique. Um, we never felt down. We never really felt like he was out. You know, we just gotta keep going, keep going. Um, even you know Saturday, we was saying that we're gonna go through some adversity and

we're gonna just push through it. So, uh, that's just really what we did. When you talking about adversity, you're talking about being down seventeen to seven into the third quarter, they just went on a long drive and I'm going, oh, what do we have left? Because the defense offense gotta get going, defense gotta get stops. You guys are able to do it with the X man coming up with that big interception after they march back down the field.

What are you thinking at that point? You guys been really good by the way the red zone defense come up with some huge plays. Yeah, it's just the credit to our you know, our team as a whole, Um offense, we feed they feed off our defense. Our defense feed off our offense. So our offense making plays, we kind of just fed off of that. And I'm guessing our same thing. Our offense is feed off of us. So, um, it just to credit to our team as a team. Um, you know, we just stick together and you know went

through with the win. You but you have a chance to watch the tapes after these uh these games, and I'm gonna bring up two guys to you. Um, you're playing next to Kiko. Kikos has been all over the field since since since the then since the opening kickoff in the season started, right, Uh, keep, there's nothing like Kiko. Uh he he knows the whole defense in and out. He can play Mike, he can play Sam, you can play Will, you can play Kigo anywhere. You know, we

have to do. So I'm having a guy like that, that big helpe. Um, you know, he's just a veteran guy. He knows what he's doing and he just flies around. He an energy guy. Man. He brings energy that doesn't he flies around no matter what the ball that he's running full speed and he's coming with you know what about your cornerback X guys, you know when when they try to go have a big time, big points, big games, big situations, but he's come up with some huge, huge

place for you guys already. Yeah, he's a playmakers. He's the X factor, uh, you know, having an interception, having you know, just knocking down on that third down. He just makes play. So it's just the credits to you know ex but you know that whole room is they come out every day and they work so big. Let's get into good stuff because there's a receiver today in Oakland, had a big game, but he got run down by you.

What's going through your mind? You see it you started a little bit behind him there to have to catch up. What's going through that? Because I don't know if you ever thought you're gonna have to chase the guy this early in your career that far um, I you don't think about it, honestly, think I can catch anybody. I put my mind too. So when he was running, I just said, I'm gonna catch him and just keep running, keep running. Uh, it just worked out of my favorite.

I caught up to him and I lived to play another down. How fun was that? It just seemed that the way the game ended with the big uh you know, Jachiem's first touchdown and then the reverse passed to Keen for the touchdown, and then when Albert went down the field and two guys are high five in each other. Uh, the it was it was hard work before then it got really fun towards the end of that game, didn't it. Yeah, definitely, Um, But that's what makes the ball fun. That the journey

is what makes it fun. Um. Winning is, you know it's always great, but you know, just going through it, through that with your teammates and your brothers is it's a little bit more special. So it's the credits our team that you know, we fought through some things and came out with a win. How about the staff, your defensive staff, Matt Burke and all those guys, Tony Oden and uh historic Yeah, Um, I saw I thought I saw him. Ye only I saw that. I thought I

saw him yelling at some DBS yesterday. He's gonna get everybody. Yeah, yeah, the whole staff is amazing. Honestly, everyones that we come in and uh, they have a great game plan for is and we believe in all our coaches. That's the main thing. No matter who it is, Coach Burger, coach Push, It don't really matter who it is. We just come in and uh, you know, if it might be another coach from a different position, you know you listen to

him because you know they want the best interest. So uh, as a as a whole, our staff is really amazing. You know, the job of a coach is to demand the best out of their players, and some coaches go about it once one way. Some coaches go about it. I've had coaches where the demand but but but it kind of rings hollow and you're like, you don't pay attention to guy. But it really seems like these guys you believe in them, You believe in what they're teaching you,

They believe in what they're telling you. And the reason I and the reason I feel like I see it is because because the effort is there. The effort is there each and everywhere, whether you're down seventeen seven or whatever the score is, you never see effort being an issue on this football team. I mean that they you know, preached that ever since I walked in the building. This we can fix a lot of things. We can't fix effort though, so uh, you know, even when Maka he

chased down the receivers, it's just a credive. You know, we walked into building and you can't you can't really teach effort. That's the one thing they demand, and uh, you know, our whole team we follow that. So after everything else, we can fix, you know, a little technique errors or things like that, but you can't teach effort. So, um, we really take that to heart. When you guys are studying films, Um, what what what looked good? What didn't

look good? We're just curious from this last game, what was was the coaching most critical of Yeah, talking was the main thing going into the game. We need to do. Um. You know, we can hit Marsan at the line of scrimmers, but he fall for five more yards. That's something you have to clean up on because it makes it hard at second and five that you know, the playbook is open for the offense, So things like that we gotta you know, just tighten up on. But it's a lot

of little things that we need to tighten up. But the one thing that you know that was a good thing is our effort was still there. So you can always fix the little You said that, because two weeks in a row, hustle plays to save this team. Bobby McCain two weeks ago against the Jets, great effort comes from over in the corner, tackles Chris Herndon the tight end for the Jets, and Manka's play after yours. They end up scoring, but Maka tackles the same guy and

they don't score on that. They don't get any points on that. So hustle plays two weeks in a row have been a big part. So I'm glad to hear you talking about It's definitely a big emphasis in the building. So it's sound good. Well, look, we appreciate you coming in. I know it's been a busy week for you and you don't get much time off, so we're gonna let you go and still like a little bit like coming in. I appreciate it. I appreciate it. All right, that's good.

They just keep on playing. Man, You're doing a great job, and it's it's fun watching you out there, and uh, that linebacker group, and they've been making some big plays. And I tell you you're your big boys up front. Yesterday they were doing some running themselves the defense tackles. Now, I watched Vinca Jack's, Vincia Taylor and and seven tackles yesterday, running guys down over on the both both of them

and running all over the place, sidelines to sideline. So you got some big men in the middle of there that are that are moving the low around pretty good. Definitely, Definitely, it's a credit to the d line. They do all the words. Linebackers just clean it up. So interested, hold on, but what else you got playing around? I might get a massage and I'm definitely gonna sleep him, all right,

Do I appreciate it? Man? Thanks, thanks all. Appreciate a good stuff, man, good stuff, keep it going the bake man. He's a good sport to man, even when he's tired a little bit. Got five or six more guys like him on this football team. Man running around over the place. Get up and go out there, and here here's a guy. He's guys two fifteen pounds playing linebacker in this league, you know. And then he's out there covering and he's hitting, and he's doing all the all the things that you

gotta do. And uh, I'll tell you they this this draft and last draft are really making a difference on this football team. About We've been talking a lot about the fifth round and six round picks from last year. Bo fifth and sixth round pick defensive tackles that two weeks in a row got yall and now Taylor had been so good. Look who's coming in? Johnny C? John? Could you have the whole gangs? I took it. It took us. It took us a while to finally get the whole gang here. But uh, I didn't have I

didn't have any plans. I wanted to come in. I'm a great front run un what a great mood you're in. It is, John Conjemmy joined us and the John we've been kind of going over to give it you. It's kind of been smiling the whole time. It's it's just it's just a day after the way it was, after the way the game started yesterday, and through three quarters, you're just feeling the mood. It's just you're you know, we were down the sideline again and it just it

was just, you know, it didn't feel good. It didn't feel good at all. And especially that last round when they're driving down the field, go my, you know, then all this done, all this good stuff kind of got back and and it may all go for not and but I tell you, things lit up with in the last last ten minutes of that football game will really change the pace of that game. But there was a lot of times I'm sure you guys felt it as well, that you're you're feeling like this is a bad scenario,

this is a bad end of this movie. You know, I've seen this before, and I don't think a Dolphin team from even two years ago. Last year's team for sure, but even two years ago, they may not win that type of game only because it took explosive plays on offense. It took the entire roster on defense to find ways to make plays and to make game changing place to win that game. So it was it was so much fun when you put your fan hat on, because that

crowd was into it. It was loud, and it was a belief on that sideline that hey, the offense had the defenses back, the defense had the offenses back. Special teams played their role in the game, but they were they were determined to find a way those players to win that game. And I can tell you both just from talking with the players after the game and throughout the week, you could feel there's a different confidence level

or vibe in there. And it's not fake. It's it's it's really built on hard work and a mentality that they want to win. Well. Well, you you know, you learn to win. You know, you know winning is as much learned as it is anything. You gotta learn how to overcome, overcome adversity, fight through it. Come on and so and you see this team doing this, but you know,

you to touch on what you just said. You know, you look on that offensive football team and you can look at you can look at three of your receivers, three year wide receivers. You can look at early one of your running back and one of your running backs and say, those guys are instant offense. Those guys, I don't care where are you on the field between Drake between Um, Albert Wilson, Jachim Grant, um Kenny Still, you

could throw Davante in there. You know, those are all guys that anywhere on the field at a given moment, they can strike lightning and put points on the board. And that's what happened, And that's what I've heard on the text machine at work. Um, everybody just excited about how much fun it was to watch big plays, exciting plays. Uh the x Man Xamian. How much interception in the

back of the end zone saved the game? They throw it up, they hit, he gets hit, Cam Wait quietly had some big pressures, made some big plays for us. So they're getting it from everybody right now. Man, it's been fun. And we go back to this. Not the fans really care or not. Guys, this is a close group of guys. Man, they play for each other. I really believe guys are looking and not going, hey, I need to get more involved so I can get paid.

You're not. I'm not saying that's ever happened here before, but you just got a close group. How about how about the fact that you know, Vincent Taylor is playing close to fifty snaps yesterday and there's nobody, you know, there's nobody to come in there trying to tap out and there one they're just pointing back. I saw Jordan Phillips at one time Jordan Phillips starts walking on the sideline and he's like, He's like, you get back here. No no on the three there's only no no, no

one here for you. Nothing to see over here. Get back in there. You know that's a That's what I mean that those types of things that you know, we went from a wealth of depth at defensive end and tackle yesterday and gosh, William Hayes, what a great player, and to see him go down that early on such a great play, and then you're looking at the end of the game, you're going to who else is gonna play?

There's nobody else. They put Jesse Davis. I'm saying, all of a sudden, I had him on the on the radio. He's telling the story. It's pretty funny. He's sitting on the bench with the offensive guys in here's Matt Burke, Jesse, we needs you and the defensive tackle position. Is it all right? And he was checking with the coaches, is all right? I need him? And he jumped up. He was pumped up. He goes, man, this is completely I

remember those days. I want to get in there. So so he's we know he's the extra defensive tackle and you know, it's nice about this football team is they've had to overcome really in the last couple of weeks. I mean they you know, the Jets, they got out too. I had a good start on him, had to come back early in the football game. And the first one against Tennessee but played played front front. But this game you had to come from way back. You had to

dig down deep. And it was nice to see this team. And just like we said about learning to win, I think I think when you win a game like that where you're down a pretty we're down double digits, you know there there, it almost gives you a belief every time moving forward, Hey, look we've been there. We've been there before. We've been down before, so you don't get

that panic or that or that you know there. There's games you play in where you get to a point where he's you know this ain't this ain't going the right way, and so you kind of you play out the rest of the game, but you really have don't have the energy level the the there and and so for a team to come back early in a game like this and win it, you stick down in the back of your head. You're filing the back of a head. We've been there, We've done it. If it happens again,

we're not gonna panic. We just keep pushing to keep putting our pedal to the medal here and and get the job done eventually. I think this is the fastest group. I have been saying it all week, This fastest group receivers maybe in the history of this franchise as a group. Obviously not just running track fast because they make big plays, but the speed and the ability and and watching one guy catch up to another guy who's running away from the whole defense and high five them. That's got to

be a first. I'm talking about it the last since the beginning of the season watching. To me, the teams that are gonna win in this league now are fast athletic teams. You look at the White in New England last night, you know, on their game on Sunday night, and like two plow horses running up and down the field. Now, now you flip over and look at some of the teams that we've seen, some of the other teams out

there that are spreading it out. Yeah, man, that's why, you know, And so I think that's the I think that's the future with the with the rule changes and everything, and how tight they're calling things, especially like pass interference and all those things. And you got defensive liignment afraid to tackle the quarterback, all those things. It's gonna make it. It's gonna make fast and athletic much more of a premium in this league. And I think we're starting to

see that. And the good thing to me is we're riding the cusp of that, of that type of a football take on both sides of the ball. You mentioned that post game against Oakland about the different body types, just taking Drone Baker for instance, in his body type of fifteen or two twenty running around covering and and even a guy like Vincent Taylor who's a big, strong dude. But did you watch him run uh Marshawn Lynch out of bounds on the screen. It's saved U some points.

It was unbelievable. There were two a couple of games. I saw him, you know, the quarterbacks rolling out on a on a naked boot, and he runs them down. He runs them down from the middle of the field. So you've got speed guys, guys, guys three pounds and and he's out running people out there. And then you wonder why, you know, the coaches are during training camp, all every practice even now, get to the ball, Get

to the ball. These guys are running forty yards down the field just to touch Frank Gore to get to the football. And then you watch that from practice turn in game time and watch these guys run down people, and I think that's all a creature habit. You know, once you start doing it, it becomes second nature. Well, you know, every coach, hey, you you you, you play like you practice, you know, and if you're gonna practice lazily,

then you're gonna play lazily. And then, like you said, he's got these guys, all the big guys running down if it's forty yards, run forty yards, touched the ball and then get back here. And I think it's just it's now, it's just that's just second nature to those guys once they're in the game and the switches on and they're going, they're doing their job. They're running into the football, and that's when good things happen. On defense.

Start getting your hands on the football, Turnovers shorten the field for the offense. There's a lot of good stuff has happened in three weeks We've been talking about the two hustle players that have been made the last two weeks that have saved them two touchdowns halftime the Jets instead of them, we shut them out in the first ends up being a difference in the game, and then make a Fitzpatrick runs down and coverage whatever it is.

But Jordy Nelson's running for a touchdown and he just trips him up, and we keep them out on a goal line, stand keep mouth the end zone. They don't gain points. How about how about X? You know, they throw the ball the Derek Carr throws the ball down the middlefield, everyone stops because it is so overthrown X. The only guy who doesn't stops Number twenty five keeps, keeps busting his ass, comes up with the interception, and everyone else has slowed down. I don't want to be

that guy. I don't be one of those guys. Why I don't want to be one of those Oakland players watching that play on the film that did that slowed down. He had coming, no doubt. But yeah, it's the other thing, guys, is is you know, and we we touched on a little bit last week. Um the mad scientists in Adam Gaze is coming out. We we've seen it now for a couple of weeks. And uh and and like he said, someone asked, hey, do you have more of those? You have more of those places. I got plenty of him.

So I think we're and and but but he's talking about and we've talked about a lot in this show. Is he's got his guys. He's got he's got guys. You can do so many things with the moving pieces. He's gotta let me put this guy over here. Let me get a mismatch over here with this guy. Let me put this guy in the backfield. For the second game, they started with Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake in the backfield. And you're gonna see stuff coming off that to back.

Two backfield seem two tights seen, three tights seem the four. I've seen everything out there, and and so everything I really think in his mind, Adam Gaze's mind, everything that in his play that everything that's in his playbook, it's always available. He's got one toy though, that he likes more than the others. Albert Wilson can do so many things. He can thought, he's one of the fastest guys on the team. I I didn't know until last week when he ran by the Jets and they missed on what

would have been a long touchdown. But he can do a little bit of everything. He can run out of the backfield. He makes a cut yesterday. Man, they had it contained to the outside, and he sees a hole and he hits it and it looked like he's running a hundred meters in the Olympics. The only the only thing that scared me about that was that Jachem geared it down to catch up to him. Oh yeah, it was. There is no question who the fastest man on the team.

The man that's done. You're the undisputed fastest cat on the team, which is always a big deal. He's hit. You know what, guys, what's cool about the way Adam Gates is calling football games now, not only is the head coach, but as the play caller is he got away from you know what. This run is not working and we cannot run the football all today, no matter what we try to do, no matter what formation we're in. This is like going up against a brick wall. I'm

tired of seeing it. Let's throw it, let's let's let's attack where we can by formation, and now let's make them move a little bit sideline and sideline with with guys in motion. I think that had a lot to do with the success in the second half, because there's only so many times you can try to run it in a game and it's not gonna happen. We run, well,

look at it, but they had trouble. They have trouble running the football between the tackles, and they had trouble from the running back position trying to get out the side. So it says, so, geez, we can't get so well, let's let's do it in a different way. Let's get in a different way, doing the big way, spread out, get your receivers, get that misdirection coming back and forth. And that's what I thought to me from a just from a conceptual standpoint, the concept you know, we okay,

we can't. We can't penetrate that that inside defense. We're having a hard trying to doing anything on the perimeters of that inside you know, front, seven guys from six guys, let's let's get out. Why let's get as wide out as we can. And so you bring those big you know, reverses, change the direction type of plays and and those were the plays that you you get three touchdowns off of. He started throwing on first down to hell and he

got away from running play action first down. There were some big opportunities, but he had a role and he had matchups he wanted. We just missed a post. Padel was a beautiful route, a great route. He stems at the outside, comes back for the post. Ryan just misses. Kinney steals on the on the play, Davante Parker down the middle of the ball stone a little bit too much of the inside. So he had dialed up man. He had the matchups. He wanted no help. Either our

guys gonna catch it or nobody's gonna get it. So I thought he was on his a game yesterday. Adam Gaze. You know, it was good to see the bald dispersement as well, because you had Gisicky down the middle, you got Kenny on and out, you got Davante over the top, you got Kenny on a corner. You to toss it on the touch pass with different motion and different formations. So I thought it was a little bit of everything. But Joe your point getting away from the run on

the first down completely. I was kind of like, hey, let's coach, let's let's get away from that point. It ain't working and the bubbles early you know, nothing was nothing was there, right, So let's get somewhere else. And he did yeah, yeah, good, good, good stuff by that, and uh look, I I just you know, it's defensively, you know, I struggled against the run, but you know, did some other good stuff, good things out there. It

just does. Um, I just keep going back to the fact that you know, here you are three and oh you know and and and you still you still have a lot of a lot of room for improvement in the butcher. But but the basis of this team is really really strong from a from a conceptual standpoint on both sides of the football. You if you just look at the numbers today and you didn't watch and not on the stats stats were bad times minutes to twenty

one minutes for US plays. But at the end of the day, and and all that said, they only give up two touchdowns. They've given up four touchdowns and three games. That's how you win. And you've had you've had two legitimate goal line stands. Legitimate goal line stands. First one in the first game when Minka comes up and makes it, makes the stop to keep you from going down. Tend nothing in that football game. You have the goal line stand.

Yesterday there was a true goal and then you had the stop at the goal line at the end of the first half in New York. It was a goal line stand, but I mean it was you know, you make that plan out of the half yard line to stop a score. That's three big scores that this team has stopped that could have changed the impact, that could have changed the whole face those of those three of every single game. Well, they have one other thing going

for him. Defensively, they have eight takeaway They got seven interceptions, which is tied for the lead in the NFL. If you just look at total yards, the Dolphins are right down at the bottom. But that's not the stat And I know you talked about it being part of those killer bees and used to give up your share of yards, but it was the same deal. You're getting a red zone and it's just that because you ain't scoring against US. I look, I think the number I looked at and

I look at it every week. I think fifty two is the number Dolphins have given up. Fifty two points in three games, and and that's I believe it's fifty two, and that puts them fourth in the league. I think their fourth best in the league when it comes to giving up points, which to me is the most important. If you're looking at look at you look at all the defensive status you want, that's the one that counts is the points you give up. Had to give up,

they would have been under twenty. Guy didn't kick he might and I'm going this unbelievable. They had to get twenty points by kicking a field goal to get there? Are you gonna holder asked to seventeen. Hey, we gotta thank one guy. We haven't thanked yet though, John Gruden for not giving it the beat vote and and side. If you don't think he got ripped on every are you kidding me? To the full back? Did you see how why he got and how strong and powerful that one.

My man's getting chewed up out in the Bay Area. I guarantee he is getting he getting handled out that last week. Bothie not having a pass rusher like league, you know what I mean. He's like a he's like a Joey, He's like a nineteen seventy six to forties, trying to trying to play, trying to drive in Indianapolis right now, that old car ain't chugging bad. He goes there, you need to get he's been mine. He's been out

of the game for fifteen years. He's driving that old card and he's O. These these guys all got another driving fuel and Jerry the windows down, try to take some girls out in that bad boy. That was It looked great. It was a great but it had it would drive it just nothing worked on it outside it was The engine was great. It was a route beer brown too. It was a two sixty or two forties, and I had and I had bullhorns on the front

of it. I got some long horns and put I don't know if I you had them on when you got it, when I got you the car, But put the longhorns on the front. That's all I care. But not having air conditioning living down here when one month I don't even know if I ever got paid for that car. I mean, Joe here, just take the car. Pay me whatever you want to pay, whatever you whatever you want to pay, make it thirty five grand. But I paid you. I was making a little money, I

said I just take the car. The hell I don't get another. Really, I still remember going, really you'll sell it to me. But but I think Gruden is he's he's I think he's you know, he gotta get up to speed. He gotta get up to speed with today's game. Um the you know, it was funny because you're thinking, gosh, you see four in that in that situation, and later in the game he went over the top like he he looked like Barry Sanders, you know, I mean he

was he was Billy Sims and he's two forty. You talked about that guy, you talk I mean, you know he was out of He was out of football for two years before he came back with the Raiders. And that guy just I can't tell how many times I'm standing down there see him stood up after about a yard game, I go, good, that's a nice stop. Second and eight. He broke two or fifteen pounds. He broke some serious tackles. He's a powerful dude. Even when he got the ball out in the flats, he ended up

getting first downs. He just breaks after contact. Is he's special man. He looks he looks quick. Uh, that's impressive. But they got some. I mean, if we're doing a raider, so they got some other So Gruden's got all this power, You got some of the old guys knowing that what's coming, the hammers coming. It's it's he didn't have all those guys. I just want to well, I know, handed the ball to his fullback. I know this. They're they're there, they're

now two faces. I like to see at that one moment in that game where you realize we're not gonna win this game. First it's Nick Saban seeing that face and a look at his and you don't see it very you don't see it very all you see in a National champions And and my next, my next best, My next favorite is Chucky. Next is John Gruden seeing when you when he realizes it's all said and done, and he's got that pitiful yeah, matter of in a

blink of he had a pretty pretty good situation. Right, Well, how about you go down and score to take the lead, and they take it right back down the field and I'm sitting they're going to know they're gonna take this thing.

They're gonna stick it down our throat and you're gonn putting the end zone and that's all gonna be for not you know, then you get the big interception and I think you I remember, I remember a picture when you first were doing TV and you were down, down, down by the goal line, and uh, you know you're supposed to be you know, you're supposed to be a journalist and you're supposed to be you know, neutral down and I'll never forget someone's running across the goal line.

And it was a front page picture in the newspaper and right where you can see when he when Vin, let me tell you when Xavian caught. When Xavien caught that interception my hands, I was like, yeah, I was almost gonna high I was always gonna high step out in the middle of the field. That was What a great play, what a great play man leading the league now tied for three interceptions, most in the league. Awesome, awesome, good stuff. You know what, that was an emotional game.

Everyone's been kind of You're sitting on the edge of your seat. You say you feel good, you don't feel good. You're back in it. You got a chance as you're in commanding lead. Oh, here they come. The Dolphins fall, and I think it's just the leak Kigo. Alonso said, Joe, that's the National Football It is the way it's gonna be. Yeah. Yeahs yesterday and said that, I was like, wow, go go go back to ten and six. Every game was

like that. You know the difference between ten and six and what we did last year's We weren't in the games. You weren't in Manuels game. But but but the year before they were always came down to last. So yeah, it is. It is the National Football League. Okay, quickly before we go, let's take a quick gun look ahead

to New England Patriots. Uh, because no matter what you say about these three wins, and no matter what you say about New England and how they looked against Detroit, and I know they're one and two, but I'm gonna tell you what, you know, you better, you better, you better bring your a game, and you better be ready for a fight up there, because that football team is not gonna go down easy in their backyard, not after the embarrassment that they put out on on Sunday night,

because that was that was they look, they look really really bad. And to me, they got two people, two things going from on that football team, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady and beyond that, you don't have a whole lot. I um, I tell everybody because people, you know, people are going they watch it last night and they're gonna hang And I said, listen, I would just ask you this, because the Dolphins had a lot of different teams. How many times outside of uh, Ronnie and Ricky, how many

times winning up there have you beat him up there? Joe? How let me ask you this. Let me put it this way. How many times have have has this team gone up there and play the first half? Where you man, man, we there, we we got these guys on the run, we think, and then all of a sudden that second half. That the second half, right. I will say one thing that I noticed last night, and I hadn't watched New England over the first two weeks, but I watched that

entire game last night. There's a way to take Rob Gronkowski out of the game the way Detroit did and make the other guys try to get open. Tom Brady looked as frustrated as I've ever seen him play a game in terms of he knew he had no chance if he if those if he couldn't check it down to the backs and make them miss, make somebody miss to get first downs. They were screwed. He threw some balls to to some guys that were right on target,

were right through their hands. And and so I'm thinking, you know, he's going to Michel too in flat and and normally he's probably thinking, why isn't James White and again that guy can catch it, right. I don't want to. I don't want this rookie and I want my guy in. But the biggest thing bo is Philip Dorsett couldn't get open. Uh Sun dropped a couple of there were some there were some opportunities to get back in it, but he

had nowhere to go with the ball. Right. Well, listen, we just can't have a great first thing is that ground cap seven eight catches for two teams can't be one of those that that all being said, and they look sluggish last night. Tom Brady looked frustrated. He has he's got very few weapons. Knew what. That team scares the hell out of me, man, because I guarantee you they're gonna go through it. They're gonna go through a ball's he work we could practice with with Bill Belichick.

He's gonna let him know, in no uncertain terms. And and this is the division game at home, a team that they've dominated at home. Um, you know, don't don't don't think this is gonna be anything anything less. This is gonna be nothing less than New England or the Dolphins that we've seen for the last two days. I think that's what the players should expect. I don't think that they're gonna think, hey, we're three and oh beat our chest, go to New England. I don't think that's

the makeup of this team. I really don't, and I really don't see it. Probably gonna get some some good weather, what sixties maybe a seventy max out there, pretty good football weather. Well, you know, when this thing drops on Thursday, I gotta feeling some of those people are gonna be on tune in radio.
