Episode description

In this episode I call out the launch mistake that I frequently see course creators committing that keeps them from being able to troubleshoot their launch so they can make more money the next time around. The mistake is not tracking the launch registrants from your Facebook ads  separately from your organic leads.

You could be sitting on a very nice situation where all you need to do is scale your ad spend for your next launch.

Or maybe you need to pivot in a big way because your ads leads aren’t buying but your organic leads are. But you won't know until you separate your launch funnels so you can accurately measure.

Optimizing Facebook Ad Funnel Tracking

Speaker 1

Well , hi there and welcome back to another episode where we're going to reveal a mistake that plenty of online course creators that I've consulted with are making , and this mistake is preventing them from being able to accurately assess how well their launch was performing or has performed , in order to make the necessary changes to make more money on the next launch .

And that mistake is you're not tracking your Facebook ads , or any ads separate from your organic traffic . Your Facebook ad leads are all mixed up with your organic traffic leads , and then you don't know where your Facebook ad leads valuable . If so , how valuable were they ? Maybe your organic traffic was the most valuable traffic .

Maybe your Facebook ads leads were the most valuable traffic . You could make some really good decisions from this info . If those leads were separated out , you could be sitting on a great situation where you can scale up your Facebook ads leads and make a lot more money by bringing in more Facebook ad leads because they're super profitable .

You could be at the other end I'm not editing that out , by the way you could be at the other end of the situation where your organic leads were actually way more profitable than your Facebook ads leads .

So you then have to make a decision to pivot more towards organic leads or really fix your Facebook ads , add copy , maybe your opt-in landing page , and so on and so forth . But first we got to talk about splitting up that traffic and before we get into the meat of the episode , yeah , my voice , if you don't know it , I'm Quajo .

I'm the new host of the Art of Online business , and I put two links to two different episodes in the show notes below , where you can find more out about where Rick is . Hint , he's pursuing a really cool AI project , or you can well also . And or , if you want , or if you don't already know me , you can go listen to more about me where he interviews me .

I'll let you head down to the show notes if you want . And though at the time of the recording it's March , february 21st , it's just not quite spring , and so where I live in Mexico , the temperature gets still really cold cold relative , right . I mean about 35 degrees Fahrenheit at night , right , but then it's still at this time of year .

It gets up to like 80 degrees in the daytime . And so what do we do in the morning ? While you wear a sweater and a sweatshirt , but underneath I have my usual outfit shirt on with three buttons . All right , that's a little bit about my outfit , which you probably didn't care about . So split the Facebook ads funnel from your organic traffic funnel .

We're going to talk about what that means and I'll kind of walk you through conceptually how to do that . Next Friday we will be talking about two very important numbers used to determine the profitability of your organic leads and your Facebook ad leads . But you can't get there until you separate your funnel .

And if you're listening to this from the far future , when I've already recorded the future Fridays or the next Funnel Fix Fridays episode , then that link will be in the show notes below too . So just head down there and check . Now here's the walkthrough about how to separate your Facebook ads funnel . First of all , what is the funnel ?

I am referring to the landing page that traffic would go to to opt in for your launch , be that like a bootcamp , a challenge , a series of trainings or a one-off webinar , right , and then the series of emails that they receive automated from your email service provider , that you wrote those emails in advance .

And that's mainly what I mean by the funnel , specifically that your Facebook ads traffic is tagged separately inside of your email service provider and your organic traffic is tagged separately . That way , at the end of your launch , you know how much money came from your Facebook ads leads and you know how much money came from your organic traffic leads .

And yes , you may be like but , quajo , I have a call to action . That's not to a sales page to buy something , it's to booking a call with me because I have a very high ticket offer and I have individual sales calls . Okay , great . Well , I have a client who's like that too , and you know what the client does .

He still tagged his traffic separately organic and Facebook ads and then when he made sales , he noted who he sold to because he had that information right , and then he just went back into his email service provider to see what tag they had . A little more manual process .

Same thing for you , fam , who , like me , you might have clients on a customer relationship management software CRM software like HoneyBook that's what I use , link in the description below .

Or maybe it's Dubb Sado and maybe you're bringing in leads through an email system like ConvertKit or Kajabi and you have to end up transferring people manually to your customer relationship management software . There are some automations for that , or you can have somebody on your team do it manually , still separate those funnels . So what do I mean ?

Let's keep going now that you kind of have the beginning , conceptually , of what separating the funnels is .

So let's say you have a launch , you have an opt-in page where people are going to register for that launch , right , okay , you wanna have two identical opt-in pages and they are connected in the same way to your email sequence , your automated email sequence . So if you have one for organic traffic which everyone does , everybody does , you do , right .

Then you take that landing page and you duplicate an identical version of it and then you take that URL for the brand new landing page .

You call that landing page on the back end of your software the Facebook ads landing page and then you only use that link inside of your Facebook ads so that the only people who click on that link are people who saw in Facebook ad .

There you go and then when they opt-in through that landing page , they are connected to your email service provider and those automated email sequences . But there's a key step they are tagged as having come from Facebook ad leads and having opted in for that launch , and then , of course , they receive the same exact emails as the organic leads do .

So now you have your Facebook ad traffic tagged separate and you have your organic traffic tagged separate . By the way , you might be asking me Kwejo , my email service provider , is something like MailChimp or MailerLite , I don't know . I just don't like those two . They're harder to work with and it's just not so easy to tag the traffic .

Or , kwejo , I'm still using Gmail like for real Gmail . I don't even do automated emails . I got two recommendations for you . Convertkit is one that I used a lot when I was inside of Rick's business , working for him inside of his I-End Accelerator mastermind slash coaching program . That's good . There's a link to that in the description below .

And Kajabi , which is what I can , which is what I use right now and that doubles as a place to host your course and it also has a robust emailing system . I like those two . There are other ones like Entroport , which I believe is now Keep and Active Campaign . You know lots of my Facebook ads clients use those two , but I find them kind of complicated .

So at any rate , that's my pitch for ConvertKit or Kajabi . Disclaimer the links in the descriptions below are affiliate links . That just means you get the same good price and the company decides to give me some of their profit because I refer to them a new customer . I like both of those ones Cool .

So you might ask well , kwejo , I am using Facebook lead forms . I'm not sending traffic to an external website to opt in . I'm keeping traffic on Facebook and they're opting in on my lead form . So how do I connect that to a different funnel ? Well , here's the answer .

When you set up a lead form , there's a way inside of Facebook to , or Facebook ads manager to choose , because those leads are being collected on Facebook but they have to be transferred to your email service provider , right , and so the lead form is being integrated with your email service provider and Facebook provides a nice cool interface to do that , to connect

your lead forms up . So when you're doing that , first make sure in your email service provider that you have created a different , let's say , email sequence or whatever your email service provider chooses to call that .

Make one that's specifically for Facebook ads and then connect your lead forms , your Facebook lead forms , to that sequence and then , on the back end of your email service provider , go in and make sure you add a step in that quote-unquote funnel that tags those leads that go to that sequence as Facebook ad leads . Done . It was that easy , right stuff .

I see I live in Mexico and so I'm ambitiously , aspirationally learning Spanish and I guess in Spanish that means it's easy . Yeah , that's a journey . I won't go down this rabbit trail . But learning Spanish is difficult , especially because I'm here behind this screen running my Facebook ads business and very rarely outside .

You know why I'm outside , but after work or on the weekends and even then I feel like the most Spanish I get to speak would be Taking an Uber somewhere . Because we don't have a car .

It's much more affordable Just to take ubers everywhere here , because I think when I was in Las Vegas on a business conference , the same like $33 ride Uber that was like 15 minutes ish , costs like three or four dollars here . It's just doesn't make sense to anything .

You have to learn all the rules and driving and not hitting people and all that stuff , which also takes time . So I just take an Uber . It's less stress . Why don't I have to look for parking ?

And anyway , that's basically the only time I get to practice my Spanish other than maybe at the supermarket and then with Neighbors when their kids are playing with our kids , and so it's .

It's a challenge , and every day I'm humbled , as my four-year-old and my seven-year-old , because they go to school local school here in Mexico Just speak amazing Spanish , because they're speaking Spanish all day long .

Yeah , nevertheless , I have my little Spanish book , which is actually a collection of poems kissy it , kissy era dinner , and wookie wookie , which just means I wish I had , or I want to have , a a wookie

Star Wars Poetry and Online Business

. It's . It's a collection of Star Wars poems and I just read through it and learn words and ask chat GBT to help teach me , and then I post to social media and people DM me the translation of stuff too , and it's see , there's proof , it's pretty fun . Oh , I said see there's proof because I got a YouTube channel for the art of online business .

So if you want to see on other funnel , fix Fridays the funnels that I am describing and walking you through in the landing pages and things Like that , well , click in the link in the descriptions below over to the YouTube channel , subscribe , and then you'll be notified when each new episode comes out . So what were we talking about ?

Splitting your funnel so you can track Facebook ads and Organic leads separately , and now , at the next launch , you will know the number of Facebook ad leads versus the number of organic leads you have and you will see how well you will .

You will be set to use two very important metrics To calculate your leads profitability , and we are going to talk about that in the next episode . So until the next time you see me or hear from me , be blessed , and we will chat soon .
