Transcript

of May. Current time, 6.06 a.m. Aw, Daryl, it looks like a beautiful morning. I woke up. I looked outside. George was mowing the lawn. George is electric, right? Yeah. So that means he's silent, basically, out there. Oh, yeah. It's so quiet. That's basically it. He's super quiet. And so he's out there. He's just mowing away.

And the sun's coming up. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day. Right now it's 43.2 degrees at the Palmer Studio. We got to beat 44 and I watched the beautiful, glorious sunrise. Now it does look a little... grayer here in Anchorage now but the sunrise this morning yeah golden sunrise I love those things

Oh, it's going to be a great day. It's going to be a great day. I'll get into it in a little bit, but I watched a lot of Trump in Saudi Arabia yesterday when he was in Riyadh, and I've got to tell you, the man... is he's built different. I mean, like, he has no off switch. He's just constant. You see him, you know, whether it's, I don't even know what time he gets up, but I think he may rival us.

You know, I think it actually beats us because, honestly, his 2 a.m. and 1 a.m. tweets or true socials, And then at 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning, it's like... Already raging on. He's already doing his thing. I know, I know. I'm like, it's crazy. But he's already in Qatar. He's in Qatar right now. So he's already left from Saudi and he's gone to Qatar.

And he's having peace talks and talking about economic type of things. So, you know, look, we'll get into that in just a little bit. But I will tell you, I get up and I'm like, I'm finding more. more ways to simplify my life, have a robot cutting the lawn, and Trump's out there, you know, making me feel a little bit

A little bit, you know, maybe less than. So you know what you need to do? You need to start studying and get some lessons on Qatar. That way you're going to be taking Qatar lessons on the side. You know, fun facts about Amy. I'm sure you do. Everybody has this goal. This one little wish list thing that I've always wanted to learn how to do. whether it's speak another language or whatever. Mine has always been learn to play the banjo.

I will tell you, a year and a half ago or so, I actually bought a banjo. Have I tried it once? Have I started taking lessons? No. But out of all the things in the world, It's the one thing I wanted to learn how to do. I always want to learn how to speak a second language. I speak a little Russian. I took sign language. Oh, God. See, I love it.

Okay, so what is your bucket list thing you wish you always wish you could do or you wish you knew or wish something? So you know, it's really crazy that you asked that because I'm one of those people that... I have 50 million Things that I want to do, that I try to do, that I start to learn. They always say, I'm a jack of all trades, master of none. I'm a master of a couple of trades. I'm more of a, I've looked into that.

instead of, you know, Jack of it. It's like, I've looked into that. I can play a little bit or I can talk with you about it. But of all the things, I probably, if I could do it again, I'd like to be a polyglot. Which is a polyglot. Yeah, learn language, multiple, not just language, multiple. Yeah, be like somebody who has multiple, you know, that's, that, that would, I've always, you know, and here you get, it's amazing because, you know, they have these earbuds now.

Oh, oh, oh, I'm almost five times. Like, if you're traveling, you can literally put the earbud in, and there's multiple languages. Chinese, Japanese, Russian. Spanish, whatever. You can put these earbuds in and it will translate for you. I've almost bought them like five different times.

which nowadays we don't have those late night infomercials. Used to be you'd fall prey to the late night, one o'clock, two o'clock infomercials. Yeah, like QPC, yeah. Exactly. And now I don't have those, so it's just whatever pops up across the phone and half the time, boy, my thumb hangs up on that.

Speaking of polyglots, have you ever seen the guy that goes around, well, there's multiple of them, that these guys are good. I mean, they've got like 12, 15 languages under their boats that they literally are fluent in.

And so they'll go on the internet and they'll randomly bring people up on some of the different sites where you can get random people. They'll look at them and they'll start talking to them in their native language, whether it's Indonesian, Chinese, like seven different levels of Chinese. And it's just amazing watching these guys because they can literally look at somebody and all of a sudden they're just chatting in one language and they switch to Russian.

That's amazing. That's amazing. I watched this one guy who's on social media and, you know, he's this white guy. He looks like he doesn't, you know, speak all these different languages. And I don't think they've, I don't know if there's a language he doesn't know yet, but... He'll travel to China, and then he'll travel to Tibet, and he'll travel to all these different places.

And when he starts talking in their native language, like, people are looking at him like, oh my gosh, wait a second. Like, and they're so, it's like amused. They're like watching, you know, a zoo animal. Like, this can't be real. Like, how does he, you know, but he does it. You know, he was sitting in a restaurant and just.

And then all of a sudden he just whips out Mandarin, and it's amazing. I think that's the exact guy that I'm talking about. Like I said, he does it on TV, he walks into the restaurants, Chinese shows, and you're just like... I want to be able to do that. Wait a second. Wait a second. Oh, wait. Let me try this real quick now. I think I can do that. And I'm working on my Russian right now. Is that not doing anything good?

You are not. You are not. Different type of Russian. We need to slow it down on the radio. Alright, I'll go back to normal. I suppose I should probably do some announcements. There's a few this morning. Let's first get into, here we go, the Mat-Su Borough. There's an abbreviated plat this morning at 8.30. That'll be in the Assembly Chambers. 5 p.m. tonight, the Bogard Road Service Area Board of Supervisors.

has a meeting, it's a team's meeting, so if you need the passcode, just go to matsugov.us and just go down on the calendar and click on it. Tonight, there's also a Gateway Community Council meeting. It's Wednesday. It's going to be at the Extreme Fund Center starting at 6 p.m. this evening. There is a Zoom link if you want to attend virtually. Also tonight, the Meadow Lakes Community Council has a meeting, and that will be at the Meadow Lakes Senior Housing. 1210 North Kim Drive in Wasilla.

Also, 7 p.m. tonight, the Butte Community Council has their meeting. They will be meeting at the Butte Community Center. And last but not least for the Mat-Su, the Chickaloon Community Council. has a meeting. They have a Zoom link. If you want that link, just go to matzoogov.us or they will be meeting in person at the Chickaloon Community Center. Again, for any of these information on any of these meetings, just go to matzugov.us.

As far as the city of Wasilla goes, I didn't see anything on their calendar today, so we'll skip on over to the city of Palmer. They have no meetings, but the city of Palmer does have early voting going on right now through the 19th. For the special election, the question is, shall the mayor be recalled? So if you want more information on that, just go to palmerak.org. The actual election day will be May 20th. Again.

Only one question on the ballot. Shall the mayor be recalled on the ballot? They have a pro statement and then a statement from the mayor. So you can see both sides of that. As far as the Municipality of Anchorage goes, there's only three Board and Commission announcements today. The On-Site Water and Wastewater Technical Review Board has a meeting today at 11.30. This will be at the Planning and Development Center off of Elmore Road, 4700 Elmore Road, Planning Conference Room number 170.

The Board of Ethics is also having a meeting today at 3.30 via Teams. So if you need the link, go to muni.org. Click on the Mayor's tab, then click on the Events tab. And the UDC, the Urban Design Commission, has been canceled today. So they're not having that meeting.

All right, moving on over to the Kenai Peninsula Borough. The Kenai Peninsula Borough has just a couple meetings on the calendar today. The Nikiski Fire Service Area Board has a meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. That'll be at Nikiski Fire Station No. 1. And then the Western Emergency Service Area Board has a meeting tonight from 6 to 8. That will be at Ninilchik Station Number 1. That's going to be 15727 Kingsley Road in Ninilchik.

If you need more information on any of these meetings, just go to kpb.us. That stands for Kenai Peninsula Bureau, so kpb.us. It's boring. Moving on over to the city of Kenai, we have two meetings tonight. There's a Planning and Zoning Commission work session at 5.30, followed by the Planning and Zoning Commission regular meeting at 7. If you need more information, just go to Kenai.city and you'll be able to find that information about the meeting and the agenda there.

The meeting will be held, of course, in the council chambers at City Hall, located at 210 Fidalgo Avenue in Kenai. So that's for the city of Kenai. For the city of Saldotna, as I'm looking at their calendar, the only thing I see on their calendar today is a city council meeting. So that will be at the council chambers there in Saldotna. If you need more information, including their agenda, just go to soldatna.org. Again, that's going to be at 6 p.m. tonight in the council chambers in Soldatna.

I'm looking at their agenda now. They got quite a bit on their agenda tonight, so it won't be as long. Their agenda, Daryl, it's so funny when I look at other cities like Sylvana. Compared to the municipality of Anchorage, sometimes the muni of Anchorage, their agenda can be 12 pages long, right? Gangly. This one's like two pages. Oh, wow. But they have three public hearings.

on grant funds from the Alaska Police Standards Council. They have accepting a donation from the Alaska Police Officers Association. And then they have another one accepting grant funds from the state of Alaska Department of Education. And then they have some new business items for introduction. They have three new ordinances.

And then they have a couple resolutions, so that's basically it. And then they have reports. So, I mean, for Rosalbotna, this is actually quite a bit of stuff on their agenda this time, but... Their agenda is only like two pages long. It's not very long. It's workable.

Yeah, exactly. They'll be out of there. My guess, they'll be out of there by 8. Alright, well, moving on down to Homer. There's nothing on their calendar today, so that really does it for our public announcements for today. I always recommend whatever community you live in, If you just kind of monitor your local government page and I mean like maybe browse upon it once a week, you'll usually get a good sense of what's going on.

It's pretty straightforward, but some of these communities are actually quite busy. I would say the two busiest is probably... Anchorage and the Nazi borough makes sense. They're the two, I guess, right? So there you have it. There you have it. All right, well, that does it for our community announcements for this morning. We're going to go ahead and take our first break of the morning. If you'd like to call in and be part of the show, 522-0650. We'll be right back.

Looking at your Alaska Total Traffic cameras on this Wednesday morning. Light traffic inbound on Amy Day. My husband says to me, that's right. He's like, man, I'm getting tired of winning. I said, no, not me. Never get tired of winning. Oh my gosh. Hey, I see a Trumpy face at me. I know, I got my Trump cum. Look, Daryl, this is just for you. And my Trump comp out. And on my cop, it has a big face of Donald Trump smiling. And it says, I want you on my side of the wall. And the funniest.

is the smiling faces. It's a nice smiling face. It's not like one of the ones where he's got the... Actually, that smile goes all the way to his eyes. That's a great picture. That is a great picture of him. It's a great picture. I've got to be honest with you. The longer Donald Trump's in office, the more... I gotta be honest. I think he has surpassed my very favorite president my entire life of Ronald Reagan. Trump has surpassed him. You know, here's the thing. Even if you don't like Trump...

You cannot deny the guy's tenacity and his just absolute dogged determination. I mean, what person is facing, you know, this lawfare that they, we all know, look, if you're a reasonable, rational person, you know all this crap that they did. Uh, crossfire hurricane. You know, all the crap that I did to, you know, go into Mar-a-Lago and seize and seize his.

His records. I mean, this is all, this was all lawfare. It was the deep state. It was a weaponization, no doubt, of our government by Democrats. There's no way around it. It was the weaponization of the judicial system against a president to deter him from running for president again. This is what this is all about. All of it was about that. And it's interesting to me just to watch his, I mean, I really have been absolutely impressed.

With his dogged determination, I mean, I don't know anybody else in the world, frankly, who wouldn't have just said, you know what? Forget this. I'm done. I don't have to put up with this, but he's not. Like, at any personal sense... yeah a great personal sacrifice multiple assassination attempts it's just You see what a dumb man is made of in those moments. And he is just, I mean, I've got to be honest with you, my entire life, Ronald Reagan has been my favorite president.

And I would say second, it would be Abraham Lincoln. And it was probably because I grew up with Reagan. You know, I remember as a little kid. you know just watching him mesmerized He could deliver a line like nobody's business. Of course, he was a great actor. But, I mean, he just, as a little kid, I was just mesmerized by Reagan. And that's probably why I was so interested in politics.

and everything. He was just, you know, I grew up with him. I remember, you know, Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall. I remember him. You know, the way he dealt with university protesters and air traffic control strikes. And, you know, this is the thing that, this is probably what's wrong with me. As a little kid, you know, I saw these things. I was interested. But now, I watch Trump in action as an adult and I sit back and I analyze what...

Just his absolute metal, what this guy is made of, is impressive. Well, with Reagan, part of it was the tone of his voice. Reagan had one of those voices. He had an orator's voice. Exactly. You would just get sucked into it.

He had humor. He knew how to work all of it. He was funny. He was funny. He had the whole package. So Reagan was awesome in that. Donald Trump, a little bit of a different angle there. And I had a thought while you were just talking about this and named off all the different things Democrats did.

I think somewhere in the liberal left progressive hierarchy, a bunch of their people are producers in Hollywood or something or directors because almost everything they do in their lawfare and everything else is literally made for TV. They sensationalize just for TV, for that one soundbite, for all that kind of stuff, even though there's nothing behind it. They still make it sensationalized when it hits the news.

It's going to grab your attention. Well, look, I mean, there's no question. For years and years, we've known the CIA runs propaganda ops through Hollywood. There's no question about it. So I think at this point, there's a... I don't... You just answered my question, actually. You just, literally, you just answered CIA, Hollywood propaganda. Big no. Thank you, Amy. I'm trying to remember it. For some reason, it's coming up.

No, that's not it. I'll come up with the name of the project, the name of the op that you've heard about it for years. If I say it, you'll remember it. I forget what it is off the top of my head, but there's no question the CIA, they do it overseas too. with other governments. It's been, it's been, when they're trying to topple a government or undermine a government, they will, I mean look,

And they get all alerted when, you know, Russia or China does it to us. It's easier now because they can infiltrate social media and you can see, you know, these types of operations. Make no mistake about it, the CIA has been doing this for decades, and there's no question in my mind, they also do it, you know, through Hollywood.

And they do it through the American media. I mean, no doubt, in my mind. It's all propaganda. You can't trust these people. I'm just saying. Just put it out there. I mean, look. I am a pro-American patriot. And I went there doing it to other people. Alright!

But when they're doing it to American citizens, that's what I drive a lot. I'm like, you don't need to brainwash your own people. But, you know, I think this is welcome. Welcome to government. And when people get involved and people get power, people try to what? Preserve that power. They try to see their power grow. So, you know, I mean...

Again, you know, I've modified from the Trump era trust by verify. Now I'm verified, then I'll decide if I can trust. That's where I'm at. That's where I'm at. All right, let's go to Randy. Good morning, sir. Good morning, got a quick TSA and then go from there. Alright. We've got the PSA in the app. Remember to vote electronically for your MTA officers. Yes. June 3rd is the last time that you spoke. That's my PSA. That's a good one. I have my ballot on my kitchen table. I need to do that.

Yeah, with a sick coat. Are you going to vote electronically? Yep, yep, I'll do it electronically. I'll log in and do it. Yeah, that's the best thing to do. Next thing is, what do you call a cow or a jerk? A cow with a joke? Uh, twitch. A cow with a twitch. A cow with a twitch. Ooh. I don't know what. They're joking. I SHOULD HAVE GOT THAT ONE!

What do you call a cow with a twitch? Beef jerky. I should have got that one. I was thinking jerk beef. I'm using that one today. I gotta tell you, Randy, when I go to the senior center, There's a few of them that look at me and they'll say, what's the joke? What's the joke? They get very excited about me telling them the joke. That's going to be my joke today. Okay, that's good. I'm so happy to listen to some local politicians. I really, really, I can't stress how much they disappointed me.

That being said, instead of giving this damn, I get to other individuals. Last night, when Bernard Wilson came on and announced her candidate for governor, I said, wow. because I've been watching her for some time, um, For a long time. And when she ran, I said, spot on. She is it. So I had no qualms about donating her to her, the monies I was going to give to other volunteers. So I'll just power it around.

You know, I gotta tell you, this year, more than any year, I think, look, it really highlights how important it is that we have a governor that is going to be a check on the legislature. You need a governor who... is not afraid, not timid, is willing to veto, and then you need a governor who is going to be able to rally the Republicans together.

And I will tell you, Bernadette is not a shrinking violet. Full disclosure, I'm very good friends with Bernadette. And multiple times I've run for office, Bernadette has come in and helped me on my campaign. And when I say helped me on my campaign, She's come in and basically run it. and She is somebody that I've known for a very long time, and she's always been the same. She has never wavered in her politics.

I will just say, we're going to get into this here in the next segment, but Randy, you tee up a great topic for us. Thank you for calling in this morning. I've got to hit my bottom of the hour break here, but I do appreciate it. I think your sentiment is the same as many, many people when they saw the announcement come out yesterday. That's right. Bernadette Wilson. has filed her intent to run for governor of the state of Alaska. We'll talk about that when we come back. Good morning!

on this glorious Wednesday morning. President Trump is, I'm telling you right now, he is all over the place. He was in Riyadh yesterday in Saudi Arabia. He met with the crown prince there. You can tell they They actually like it. The crown prince really likes Trump. Did you see any of the video with them together? I saw multiple ones of them and the other people. I mean. Amazing. So I did a little back run back in history. of when President Biden

visited Saudi Arabia versus Trump. I got to tell you, a nine-day difference. The conference didn't even meet. Biden at the airport, he had his emissary meet him at the airport and, you know, Biden walks up to, when he makes it to the palace, he walks up to the crown prince and they kind of fist bump each other and they're like, oh, hey, you know.

And the crown prince was waiting on the tarmac with literally the carpet rolled out waiting for Trump. And they had pomp and circumstance. I mean, it was lined with... You know, all kinds of... It was amazing. And, you know, he comes down the step and you see this huge smile on his face. He greets him with a warm handshake and his other hand kind of clasps on his hand. You could tell, like, and they're both kind of, you know, talking and whatever, but you could tell the crown prince.

Saudi Arabia was a very, very Warm and very respectful of Trump and you could just tell you could multiple times in this is amazing to watch But Trump was is treated in He is treated very differently than Biden was treated. There's no question about it. People may not like Trump.

But you know what? They respect him or they fear him, which is fine with me both. I mean, you could fear him or respect him or both. That's fine. But the standing of the United States, because, I mean, this is a commander in chief. Yeah, it's a commander-in-chief. He is in charge. He walks like he's in charge. He talks like he's in charge. It's just absolutely amazing. But, you know... I digress, but this segment, since Randy brought it up, let's talk about the governor's race.

Yesterday, Bernadette Wilson flew down to Juneau on the steps of the Capitol. She declared her intent to run for governor of the state of Alaska. She has filed a letter of intent to run for Alaska. Mustard, Alaska has a story of... a well-known political figure, competitive figure skater, policy advisor, and business owner, former talk show host of a radio show, and mother of three Bernadette Wilson is all of those things, and now she's a candidate for governor over the weekend.

She quietly filed a letter of intent to run for governor in 2026, joining two other Republicans. Of course, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom has filed her letter of intent, and former state senator from Fairbanks, Cliff Bishop, has also filed his letter of intent to run Большие! Went to Juneau yesterday and she declared her intent to run.

I wanted to pull some of the audio of it, but it was not great audio, to be honest with you. It was kind of hard because she was outside, and so it was kind of hard to hear. You know, she is a political force, especially for Republicans. And, you know, I've said this before as we've talked about the governor's race. What you're going to see is

With Nancy Dahlstrom, with Click Bishop, we already know they're in the race. We expect Machicky's going to get in the race. He is currently the mayor of the Canine Peninsula Bureau. That's my gut. Everything in me tells me Machicky's running. We'll see. I haven't asked him. I haven't talked to him about it. This is just the rumor mill that's going. It would be a logical move for him to do.

So I think he is going to get it in the race. And then we're hearing rumors, Treg Taylor, the attorney general, is going to get in the race. We're hearing Adam Crum is thinking about getting in the race. He's currently the commissioner of revenue for the state of Alaska. So we have all these people that are, you know, looking at it. Many of them, I think, are going to be battling for the middle, realistically.

And so oftentimes, especially with Republicans, the one who's just to the right, the one who is the one who captures the base, is the one who's going to be successful moving forward. Well, this isn't a traditional primary. So the question becomes, You know, can one of them perform in such a way that the other Republicans drop out after the primary? That's really where we're at right now.

And I will tell you, just by getting in this race, Bernadette is going to be a formidable force because the bass is going to resonate with her. You heard it from Randy. As soon as he heard she was in the race, he's like, that's it. That's where my money's going. I mean, you're going to see this reaction. And it was interesting because as I perused last night, I was watching the comments. and just seeing what people's reactions would be. And I thought, you know,

This is going to be, this is going to be, I got to tell you, the reactions I'm looking at the comments on Must Read Alaska right now, one of them, she's got my vote. Now we have someone worth voting for. Our state needs fresh blood to prosper. And it goes on and it basically says, Miss Wilson's a fighter.

And with a corrupt union legislature, we need a fighter. And it kind of throws some dispersions, I would say, towards Lieutenant Governor Dahlstrom and Cliff Bishop in that post. Another says, good. Another says, she has my vote. TOP CHOICE EXCELLENT CANDIDATE! I mean, it just goes on and on as I go down this feed. I mean, overall. Positive, positive, positive, positive, positive. I'm looking to see if overnight somebody put something potentially negative on there. I'm not seeing it yet.

You know, as one other person says, if she's opposed to a state income tax, she will be just about impossible to beat despite So much of the media being funded from the outside, ranked choice voting, blah, blah, blah. Which, again, I'm sure she's against the income tax. Like I said, I've known her for a very long time. We're friends. She's helped me. frankly save a couple of my campaigns and she is I don't know if she's going to be a 4 or she's a Spitfire. She is a Spitfire.

You know, there's very few people in this world that I look at when they get into politics, and I'm like, man, I'd take a bullet for that one, and she's one of them. You know one of the things I noticed when she did her announcement? She made the Capitol steps look so big. Because she is so tiny. When I was watching it, my thought was that Big Mike needed to walk up onto the top steps.

And it'd be like a giant looking down. I've seen them standing next to each other. It's hilarious, actually. It is, yeah. But, you know, she may be little, but good things come in little packages. Absolutely. And, you know, the little people, they can get into places and get things done that, well, some of us who are larger just can't. Well, you know, Bernadette has this uncanny ability to cut through BS.

and just say things. And you've heard her here on this show because there's very few people I trust with my show, to be honest with you. I'm a little possessive. Let's put it that way. And so when I, I don't take very many vacations, but when I leave, even if it's, usually it's a long weekend, right? I'll pop out for a long weekend. And it would be either Suzanne Downing or Bernadette Wilson would be the ones that I would have fill in. Because I'm like, you know, I don't want crazy on the show.

I want somebody who's going to, you know, give just as candid of a political commentary that I would give. We never talk about what they're going to talk about because I don't censor people. I'm just like, you know, I just know them and I trust them that they're going to, you know, do a good job.

And Bernadette's my go-to fill-in when I'm gone, but now she can't be, because once you're a declared candidate, you know, you can't be on iHeartMedia, you know. So she can't be my fill-in now, which I'm a little disappointed about. So I'm going to have to find, you know, I'm going to have to find somebody else who can do it. But since I only really take a little bit of time off, because I really, I dislike running repeats. I just... I don't like it, it's not my favorite

So I always try to have a live fill-in host. A body to actually bounce things off. Yeah, it has to be somebody who actually can do the show. But Bernadette, again, Bernadette Wilson has filed for governor of the state of Alaska. She has a website up. I was just looking at it a second ago. It's BernadetteForGovernor.com. It's spelled out F-O-R, not the number for it. BernadetteForGovernor.com. So she has her website up. I haven't had a chance to really... I haven't had a chance to really...

view everything. The website is still, I mean, she just declared yesterday, so now her website, you know, basically is being developed. They have it up, but they don't have any of the issues up yet. They don't have, you know, which is It's not unusual. Right now, the most important thing for a candidate, as soon as they declare, because you can't incur costs for a campaign before you've filed your letter of intent. So what that tells me is over the weekend she filed her letter of intent.

And then she probably... Scree to get a website up. But now she's going to be fundraising to develop the rest of it and to start, you know, doing that kind of stuff. So the most important thing about the website right now for a candidate is really that donate button. And I laugh, Daryl, because it's up.

And I just clicked on it. It's working. Uh-oh. There we go. That tells me she's dialed in. She knows what she's doing. But she's run a lot of campaigns. So I expect this is going to be... all those candidates that are thinking about running. Stuff just got real. Stuff just got real. This is gonna be a real race. with a real candidate and all the little squishy ones are going to have to have real conversations and be accountable for votes they've made, policies they've enacted.

Uh, it's gonna... This? This is what makes elections fun to cover. All right, we're going to take a quick break. When we come back, we'll continue with the headlines of the day. Looking at your Alaska Total Traffic cameras on this Wednesday morning. Light traffic inbound on the Glen Highway. No major stoppages or slowdowns out there in town. Traffic's moving well. Hope you're giving yourself a great Wednesday morning commute. Now, back to the boss.

Welcome back. Current time is 6.53. You know, Daryl, as we talk about this gubernatorial race, like, it's way too early. Okay, I'll let you in a little, a little call. like strategy. Now Bernadette and I did not discuss this strategy. I did have lunch with her.

I don't know, was it three weeks ago? Four weeks ago? Something like that. Something like that. And, you know, we were talking about the potential for her baby to run. And, you know, we were just catching up as friends. You know, that's really what it was about. We were just catching up as friends. But did the topic come up? Of course it did. Did a lot of other topics come up? Yeah, of course it did. And so we were just kind of catching up and life, kids, that kind of stuff.

You know, so she hadn't made up her mind yet. So yesterday, you know, I heard yesterday morning that there was an announcement coming out at noon. I thought, I wonder if, I wonder if that's what it is, because I didn't have advanced knowledge of it. But it was exciting to see. But for me, I was watching to see what people's reaction were to be. And overwhelmingly, it's positive. I mean, overwhelmingly, it's positive.

But you ask, well, why does she get in right now? Well, this is what you do with campaigns. Right now, the legislature cannot, anybody in the legislature can't campaign because they're not allowed to campaign while they're in session. Right. So what that does is everybody knows Shelly Hughes is thinking about running. and what that does is it really jumps, it jumps, it kind of

I don't want to say it freezes out the field, but to a large extent, Shelly still may get in. I have no idea. But the reality is when you have a big name that gets in a race early, it does tend to freeze out other candidates that are on the fence. I've done it in my races where I come out early, I come out strong. And a lot of people who are contemplating running are like, oh, I can't beat her. Like, there's no point.

And so it will freeze out the field. So I think it was smart for her to make an announcement before the legislative session comes out. And I do think there's a lot of people that are going to be battling for the middle. the question then becomes is who is going to light fire in the base? And I've been saying this all along is, you know,

If Bernadette didn't get in the race, who was going to be that Trumpian candidate? That person who is no-nonsense, straight-talking, you know, just cut through the BS and tell people like it is. I mean, look, Alaska overwhelmingly voted Trump. They don't want milk toast. They want somebody who basically will get the job done and who will work with the president.

And I think there's no question in my mind Bernadette is somebody that is going to catch fire with a base. I'm already starting to see it. You should see the number of text messages I got yesterday. And people just reaching out and sending me messages and stuff saying, did you see? Did you see? Did you see? So people are very excited. And I've always said, you know, I've learned many times you wait to do your endorsements until the field is delivered.

But it's really going to be hard for me to do this year because I have so many people that I'm jumping in this race. It's like one of those times where I just am like, oh man, I have like three friends least maybe four that to get into this race that I'm sure are all gonna get into this race. So it's gonna be a fun race to watch.

We'll see what happens. But right now, the three declared candidates are all Republican. You have Nancy Dahlstrom, Click Bishop, and now, as of yesterday, Bernadette Wilson. All right, we're going to take a quick break. DIYers! Welcome back to Hour 2 of the Every weekday morning from 6 to 8 a.m. 650am if you're listening on the radio. We just keep winning, Daryl. I love free. You win

win. It's free. You get all the stuff you want, information. I'm telling you, man. I know. It's fantastic. Well, what else is fantastic is President Trump's trip to Saudi Arabia already a major success. I will say I watched a lot of his engagement yesterday when he was on stage. You know, it was, I got to tell you, the guy is, Not only is he just a boss when he walks in the room, but he is a showman. So he goes out on stage in Riyadh for this.

huge huge comp you know basically speech that he's giving in front of the Saudis and a whole bunch of other people that were there he was at the Saudi US investment forum and you know He walks out on stage to Lee Greenwood. singing, you know, singing, and he stood there for the entire song.

You know, and you see all these Saudis standing, you know, everybody, all these people just standing, waiting respectfully. Trump walks out to Lee Green, who is singing, you know, proud to be an American, basically. He just stands there on stage as the song plays, the entire song. I don't know if you saw that entrance. That was something. I missed the entrance, yeah. Oh, it was something. And so Lee Greenwood is just, you know.

Obviously it wasn't live, but he was singing. It was beautiful. And Trump stands there and everybody is standing there respectfully waiting for the song to get over. They all clap and, you know, very respectful. Saudi Crown Prince is smiling from ear to ear. And Trump gets up on stage, and he starts giving his speech, and he's talking. And, you know, the message, I pulled an audio clip from the speech. It's just a really short one.

But he talked about a lot of things. He talked about economic deals. He talked about peace in the region. He talked about the military, building up our military. And, you know, when Trump talks, I've learned a lot. It's not just what he says, but sometimes you've got to read between the lines because he was clearly, clearly demonstrating America's back.

We take our military seriously. We're building up our military. We're modernizing our military. We're going to put our money where our mouth is. And we're not afraid to use the weapons if we need to. Hopefully we don't need to. But the way he talks, he's like, hopefully we don't need to. But this is just a little snippet of part of the message that Trump delivered to Saudi Arabia yesterday when he was on stage.

In recent years far too many American presidents have been afflicted with the notion that it's our job to look into the souls of foreign leaders and use U.S. policy to dispense justice. For their sins they loved using up. military and now it's really the most powerful it's ever been we just are getting a budget approved one trillion dollars highest budget we've ever had in history for military one trillion dollars and And, uh,

We're getting the greatest missiles, the greatest weapons. And, you know, I hate to do it, but you have to do it because we believe in peace through strength. You have to have the strength, otherwise bad things could happen. Hopefully we'll never have to use any of those weapons. Seems to be an awfully big waste of money if you're never going to use them, but hopefully we'll never have to use them because the destructive power of some of those weapons are like nobody's seen before.

I believe it is God's job to sit in judgment, my job to defend America, and to promote the fundamental interests of stability, prosperity, and peace. That's what I really want to do. You know, here he goes. I mean, he's standing up in front of him. He's not hesitating. He's telling you, look, here's the reality.

It's my job to, I'm not going to, you do you, but I'm going to do me, and that means defending the American people's interests and defending their sovereignty and defending their lives. Like, he did not equivocate. We're putting our money where our mouth is. We're going to defend our country. And we're going to defend Americans' interests. I mean, he did not hesitate. But I've got to tell you, it was a fantastic thing to see, to see an American president.

walk on stage. The patriotism was palpable. The way he walked on stage with Lee Greenwood belting it out in the background and then he gets done. You're never going to believe this. He gets done. As he's finishing up and he, you know, his exit song? YMCA. I was just going to say, I was like, I know what it's got to be. And it gets everybody moving. Yeah, the ground prince gets up on stage and shakes his hand and everything. But I'm like, you know, Trump, Trump was there. He's there. He's there.

But finally, we have a president that's not there apologetic. We're not there apologizing to everybody. We're not there with our hat and our hand, you know, out going, oh, please help. Oh, please forgive us. You know what? We're not going to apologize for being Americans. We're not going to apologize for protecting our interests. And you know what? We're not going to cower to you.

We're here. We're the big boy on the block. We're going to be respectful, but we're going to defend our interests, period. Look. I want a president with a backbone. And that's exactly what we have right now. And you nail it right there because I was doing some comparisons of Donald Trump with that one there, walking on stage, how he walks on stage.

And Joe Biden and how he walks on stage. He shuffles on stage. Shoulders are slumped. He will get angry during his speech where he stands up straight and yells for a couple of moments. And then he goes back. but his facial expression is almost always sad and dour, with a smile thrown in, kind of a confused, and then back, as opposed to Donald Trump, literally walks in, head up, chin up. Shoulders back and he's looking at the crowd. I mean he's looking at everybody and just smiling like yes

When you put the two of them on stage together, I mean, look at each other on stage side by side. Yeah, oh, no comparison. It's actually negative numbers on the other side. It's night and day. Yeah, it's night and day. So, I'm sorry. And look, here's the thing, especially when you're dealing with people that we're dealing with in the Middle East,

I mean, there's no way around it. Many of these people would love to see America wiped off the face of the planet. So as you know what you're dealing with over there, Like, you have to exert Because people manipulate and they take advantage of weakness. And that's what they did with Biden. That's the reason you saw Ukraine invaded by China, because they sensed weakness. When people sense weakness, they take advantage of it. And that's exactly what happened the last four years under Joe Biden.

Joe Biden. It was weakness that led to all these conflicts that were happening. And, you know, Trump got up on the stage and he talked about wanting to have, you know, a peace deal, an arrangement with, you know, basically... in the Middle East. He talked about the Abraham records. He talked about Iran. He talked about economic opportunities for many of these other countries. And

You know, he really talked about peace in this region, and he talked about, you know, let's export economic opportunities instead of basically terrorism. I mean, he phrased it differently, but that's really what he was talking about. But, you know, and he said in there, and part of it, here's a quote. He says, I want to make a deal with Iran. I want to do something if possible. But for that to happen, it must stop sponsoring terror.

halt its bloody proxy wars and permanently and verifiably cease its pursuit of nuclear weapons. They cannot have a nuclear weapon." And this particular There's no question Saudi Arabia 100% is in agreement with him. Saudi does not want Iran to have a nuke. No. I mean, so, look, so there are mutual places where we can...

We can collaborate. We can get together. We can agree. But you also have to know the audience you're dealing with. And I said this yesterday. In no way, shape, or form can you ever trust Iran. Ever. You can't trust him. And so if they say, well, we'll scale back, there's absolutely no world in which Iran should have any nuclear program.

I don't care if it's an energy program. It's not an energy program. You can't trust them. They're going to manipulate it to enrich it to weapons grade uranium. So you cannot trust Iran. Period. Hard stop. So... Anything short of absolutely no nuclear, in my mind, is a mess. I think you have to go that far because you can't trust them. This is a country that is absolutely bent.

on destroying America and destroying Israel. And they're nuts, man. So at the end of the day, You can't let some rogue nation that is the number one global sponsor of terrorism have a nuke. No way, shape or form, you can't do it. So there you have it. Trump right now, again, he's in Qatar this morning. He is making his rounds around the Middle East, you know, talking peace, talking economics, talking energy policy.

These are all big things for the U.S. Not only is it going to be good for us from a national security standpoint, it's going to be good for us from an economic standpoint. Imagine what could be accomplished if there was actually stability in the region. And the key aspect to getting stability in the Middle East is getting Saudi Arabia on board. Because they are the big dog on the block over that part of the world. You get them on board, then the rest will follow.

And I think it was a really good thing for Trump to go over there. We'll see what comes out of it. We're hearing already about economic deals that are happening. He's really pushing the Abraham Accords again, which would be big peace deals throughout the Middle East. So exciting times for sure. All right. Well, we are going to go ahead and take a quick break. When we come back, it is the person we have been talking about for a good part of the show. We have a gubernatorial candidate.

Bernadette Wilson will be joining the show next. Stay with us. We'll see those temperatures in the low to mid-50s with coastal rain making a return. Inland area, some spot showers will be possible. For Alaska's weather source, I'm meteorologist Aaron Morrison. Welcome back for Time 722. Well, the decision has clearly been made, and she is in the hunt, welcoming to the show for the first time as the gubernatorial candidate. Bernadette Wilson, good morning.

Good morning, Amy. You know, all the times that I've had the opportunity to jump on the radio with you and talk with you about all the different... Any number of conservative issues or positions, I have to say, I was so excited to talk to you this morning.

Well, Bernadette, you know, I got to tell you, and I said this earlier on the show, a few weeks ago we spoke and you hadn't made up your mind, though. A lot of people had been reaching out to you, encouraging you to run. I know that for a fact. There's a lot of people that were saying, Bernadette, do it, do it, do it. What made you make the decision that, yes, you are going to run for governor in 2026?

You know, Amy, I don't know if it was any one thing. I don't think it was any one thing. But there were a couple things that kind of came, you know, several things that all came together. I mean, I talked yesterday about my oldest son telling me You know, Mom, the economies are just better in other states. And me going to bed that night and having that thought in my head, which...

It's almost a selfish note, you know, where I thought, no, I want my grandkids to grow up here. I don't want my kids to move. I want to be able to go to that baseball game or go to my daughter's house for dinner on a whim. I want to know that I can pop in and see them on any Sunday. I don't want it to have to be, well, you know. Grandma's going to be here in a month and she'll be here for 10 days. That's not the relationship that I want to have with my grandkids.

And so it's very personal for me. There's also such a frustration aspect, Amy. I've worked in conservative politics. For two decades now, two decades, I have worked on a ton of campaigns. I am incredibly proud of the work that I did with Nick Begich. I am 10 times more proud of Nick Begich himself and the work that he is doing right now. But outside of Nick, There are so many other campaigns and so many other elected individuals.

that I have worked with and fought for, they get down to Juneau. It appears as though they lose their values, their convictions, and I have found myself Frustrated. incredibly frustrated by the people who say, I'm up for the job. and then they get down there and they're more worried about keeping that job than they are about doing it. And if I had a dollar for every time I had somebody tell me, but if I do this, I mean my district, I have an election coming up, my district.

They are too worried about getting reelected than doing the decisions that have to be made. And so, you know, there was a frustration component there. And I have to say, Amy, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge I've had people encourage me to run for so many years, and one of the big pieces in my head was, Well, you know, usually I'm on the other side helping these candidates pull through.

And candidates go through a lot, as you know. And you and I have worked together on some of these. And one of them, of course, was your own. And so you go through... this time with candidates where it's, you know, 1 and 2 a.m. and you're trying to talk them through so many things. And I thought, you know what?

who is going to help me with that who is going to be those people and you know as I prayed to God about this that was one of the biggest concerns that I had in Amy Just in an act of providence, I mean, I have been surrounded by the best team. and a team that I never could have imagined. Out of all the political teams that I've put together over all the different years, I will tell you, I would take this team that we've put together and put them up against any other team that I have ever built.

myself. So it's amazing what the good Lord does. And over the course of the next... Several weeks, we will be putting out press releases and announcing who all of those different team members are. There are people here in Alaska. There are people who work on a national level and have phenomenal... records and resumes behind them and I am just I'm so excited that God gave me all the right people to give me the confidence to say okay

I think we can do this. So, you know, there were so many things that came together, obviously, though the biggest one being that frustration, which is the very reason that I chose to do this announcement in Juneau. I had several people asking me, why did you fly to Juneau? Why did you do this from the front steps of the Capitol? And I said, you know, we gotta get into the heart of the belly of the beast. This is where the problems are. It's in that building.

And it's so important that we have somebody that's going to get down there and do the job. Just not talk about it and not talk about it from miles away. Exactly! Exactly! I will tell you! I think you sent a very strong message that should you be elected governor, you're going to take a very active role.

And I think it was very smart and very fitting that it was on the staffs of the Capitol because we have all watched. You've called in. We've talked about this legislative session. We've talked about the spending. We've talked about... the potential missed opportunities with the Trump administration. Alaska can't afford to miss the opportunities that we are seeing being presented to us on a national level.

Well, and I've said, Amy, if this is to be the golden age of America, then we are going to fight like hell to make sure that those history books are full of Alaska stories. And I promise you, they are going to be full of Alaska stories. Well, I'm very excited about this. As I think about you know, what's going on in the legislature this year, there's no doubt, you know, the governor plays a very critical role. Whether we talk about, you know, injecting a little common sense.

but we also need leadership. We need somebody who is talking with the people, telling the people what's going on. They're talking with the legislators. They're helping give that courage for them to stand strong. in those districts where they're worried about their reelection. And you know, sometimes courage breeds courage. And that's what I want to see. I want to see somebody who is not afraid to take the fight. I think that's why Trump won Alaska so overwhelmingly.

How do you see your brand of conservatism, your leadership, how do you see that potentially impacting legislative operations moving forward, especially with Republicans? Well, Amy, as you so well point out, courage breeds courage. And a lot of times what we know is this. When you get a legislator who... A, does not even understand what the expectation is from a governor. What does the governor want? Where is the governor at on this?

That can cause confusion. When you get a legislator who doesn't feel like the governor has my back. That can cause a problem as well. They need to know that when they do the right thing, when they vote their values, that the governor is going to have their back. But I will also say this. Legislators also need to have a healthy amount of fear of their governor. And when I say fear, you think about raising a child.

And when you raise that child, there is an immense amount of love there, and the child has an immense amount of respect for the parent. But there is that little bit of fear there that if you don't listen to moms, You know you're going to be in trouble. That amount of fear is a good thing.

And unfortunately, we have legislators in Juneau who can be told, you know, don't vote that way. That's the wrong way to vote. That's not what the governor wants. And they just look at him. It's like having a little kid in front of you and say, Okay, and then they do it while they're staring you right in the eye. And so when you take those things, you know, I think that a vision is needed down in Juneau.

I think that an encouragement is needed from the governor's office to help keep these guys strong. And there's also this amount of, if you cross me, We are going to make sure that you're held accountable. If you think that this is what your district wants, then guess what? I'm going to go into your district, and we're going to go have that conversation in your district. Oh, yeah. I'm comfortable. Good. Here you go. So I will tell you I intend to take an incredibly active role.

and working with our legislators and sitting down and having those conversations. But it's not going to be fun. I totally understand that. There will most certainly be casualties of war. There always are. But at the end of the day, I know no doubt we are going to get to a better place. And I do think that there are good legislators down there.

They want to do the right thing. Their heart is in the right place. They are confused. They're feeling like nobody has their back. And in that situation... it has made it easy for them to lose those values. That is not an excuse. There is no excuse. And I have said to legislators, I don't care if you think someone's got your back or not. Your job in a leadership role is to say, this is the right direction to go.

And if you're the only one left standing, then you are the only one left standing. When you sign up for this job, you sign up for the job knowing that at the end of the day, everybody else... may have fallen off from you, but you have said, I am capable, I have the backbone, I have the strength, the courage, and the conviction, that if I am the only one left standing, I promise to you, the voter, that I will still stand here.

That is the promise that those legislators are making. And I will tell you, Amy, from the bottom of my heart, that is the commitment that I am making to voters in this state. Well, Bernadette Wilson, she is a gubernatorial candidate. She is going to be running for the opposite governor. She is running now for the opposite governor. Officially, she has filed. So the election is 2026. This election... Just got very interesting.

Bernadette, I know there's going to be many, many times we get a chance to talk to you on the air about specific issues. As the race goes on, I look forward to those conversations, and I will tell you. And I've said this on the air, full disclosure to everybody, I'm friends with Bernadette. I've known her for a lot of years, and you've never changed. You know, I love it. The wedding keeps going. Bernadette Wilson, thank you so much for calling in this morning.

Welcome back. Current time is 741. Joining the show now, we're going to switch gears a little and we're going to talk about ranked choice voting is Judy Elledge. She is the chair of Repeal Now AK, which is the group that is attempting to to gather signatures to repeal ranked choice voting. Good morning, Judy. Well, good morning. You know, I'm back. I remember fighting for women's rights many, many years ago. Maybe, well, maybe not. It was about 100 years ago, but anyway. It's good to hear.

strong women this morning, right? I got to tell you, you know, you have been around Alaska politics I would say almost as long as I've been alive, maybe. Maybe. But here's the thing. Judy, you've been around a lot of strong women. You are one yourself. It's not surprising to me that you jumped in this effort to lead up the effort to repeal ranked choice voting. We have got to get rid of this. This is just

It is really confusing to people. I think most Alaskans don't appreciate it. I heard people were very confused. with some of the ballot language last year. Can you just give us an update on the effort to repeal ranked choice voting? Yeah, I will. And, you know, I agree with you. I don't think that there is anything more important in 2026 to try once again.

to repeal this law. It is confusing. It's one of the worst things I think that has ever happened in the states. You know, 17 other states have outlawed it and they can't have it. But we were kind of one of the first. And I agree with you. It does dissolution our voters. It's confusing. I mean, I know a lot about politics, and every time I do it, I try to figure out, okay, now what happens if I do this? What happens if I do that?

So back in December, there were three of us that actually did the petition that requires 100 signatures, and we got that approved by the Division of Elections in January. One of the interesting things is we are doing a clean repel. In other words...

There's no verbiage other than we just want to repeal the law and we feel like that's probably the cleanest way to do it. Even though I do hear that Scott Kendall and Murkowski and others have... have formed a group I guess to basically come after us and we know that's going to happen. That's what they did last time is tie it up in courts and lawsuits and take a lot of the money that could be spent elsewhere. But, you know, I've never run away from a fight, and I think the majority of Alaskans.

really don't want this law. So in January, we filed a, we worked on it behind the scenes. Just as far as waiting for, we didn't actually do anything other than just wait for the division of elections to tell us it was okay. Once we got that okay, we did form a group. Bethany Markham came on board, and she and I filed a group, an APOC group, which is a governing body, as people know, where all the fines and everything else come from.

And so we worked very carefully and very long to ensure that we had all our dots. Our I's dotted and our T's crossed. And so we started the signature collection, came up with a great process Bethany did on how people could set stuck out books basically digitally. And what was so great about it, it was all the questions that the Division of Elections had. So we had 500 signature books. And we have about 250 out. And we've been in business maybe, I think it was the end of March when we...

I can't remember where we started. We didn't do anything, but we just started forming the group and getting the signatures. So we haven't actually been like a month before we actually... have done anything and so we're really proud of the fact that in that month we've been able to to get that many books out we have regional directors all over the state and so we have about probably 35 000 to 40 that we have to collect we had to start all over again uh from the second

The first attempt. So we had to start all over. And so that's where we are. We are working hard almost every day. We have AMAC is doing a rally for us Thursday night. I believe that is tomorrow night. I have trouble keeping up with the date. At 2511 Century, that is the Wellspring building where Pacific Academy is. It's behind the Fred Meyer. Unlike Morrison and Abbott.

And from 6 to 8, we're going to have people can drive by and just get a signature. We will have our experienced people out there ready to collect signatures so they don't have to get out and do that. And then the meeting inside and the rally will start at 7 o'clock. So we hope you all will come out. We are looking for volunteers. Hey Anchorage, Matt Sue.

Fairbanks and Kenai are tearing it up, but we don't have the volunteers they do, as many. And so we're asking that people sign up. They can go to www. repealnowak.com. That is our website. If you have any questions, if you send an email to repealnowalaska spelled out,

at gmail.com. Your questions will be answered within 24 hours. If you want to sign up for a book or you have any ideas, We're in the fundraising stage right now because we all know we went up against about $12 to $14 million last time. and we had less than maybe $200,000. Our goal is to raise a lot more money than that this time in order to get this across the finish line. Amy, it is awesome.

It's a big effort. It's a big effort. Yeah, but look, if anybody's going to pull this off, Judy, I know it's going to be you. So tell us, remind me again. So is the... event at 2511 Century Drive. Is that tonight? Did you say it's tonight? No, it's Thursday night. Thursday night. Okay, so Thursday night. Collecting signatures if you want to just drive through.

And then at 7 o'clock, our meeting starts. I think we were looking for someone to do that 7 to 8. I guess I'll have to stand out there or someone will say nothing. Well, I will say, I've already signed the book, so, you know, I've seen signature gathers everywhere. I've seen... I've seen some of the ladies from the Matsu Republican Women's Club out there. I've seen people at gun shows. I've seen people everywhere. I mean, I've seen it in multiple places now out here in the Valley.

It is a big effort, and I think you guys have tapped into something. I think it's so important that one person equals one vote, and we get rid of this scheme to shift votes around, and this is the first step in that. So if people want to sign... They can go to 2511 Century Drive between 6 and 8 p.m. on Thursday night. That's in Anchorage. Or if they want more information, they can connect with you guys at www.repealnowak.com. Judy, thank you so much for calling in this morning.

Bye-bye. All right, bye-bye. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Look at those Alaska total traffic cameras on your Wednesday morning. Traffic has now picked up around the Anchorage. Well, it looks like Northern Lights Boulevard is getting a bit of a slowdown starting right there at Lake Otis Parkway. That traffic is backing up towards UAA Drive. Lots of big yellow buses out there on the roads. Watch out for those.

Also, the kids are walking, riding to school. Let's help keep them safe, keep your eyes out for them, and slow your speed. From the Swickert Chevrolet Anchorage Traffic Studios, I'm Daryl Dean. This report is sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. For victims of sunshine the clouds thicken up becoming mostly cloudy to overcast into the evening hours will see those temperatures in the low to mid

50s, with coastal rain making a return inland area, some spot showers will be possible. For Alaska's weather source, I'm meteorologist Aaron Morrison. Welcome back, current time, 753. Well, I guess this is an opportunity. I will say, there may have been a little strategery here, I'm not sure, but This Saturday, May 17th, you know I'm a member of the Valley Republican Women's Club.

And we have our monthly meetings, and every month we have guest speakers that come in and talk on a variety of topics. Last month, we had Moms for Liberty come in and talk about education and their efforts to keep parents involved in their kids' education. That was a great presentation by Moms for Liberty last month. This month, guess who our speaker is on Saturday, Daryl? Bernadette Wilson. Bernadette Wilson. She is going to be our guest speaker this Saturday, May 17th, 10 a.m.

It'll be at Big Lake. It tends to sit in a brewing, 5120 South Big Lake Road in Wasilla. If you are a registered Republican, you may become an associate member or a member of the Valley Republican Women's Club You can go to their website, Valley Republican Women of Alaska, on Facebook, or you can go to VRWAK. It stands for Valley Republican Women of Alaska. vrwak.com, and you can sign up there. So obviously, you know, you've got to be a Republican to attend Republican events.

So I would recommend, but again, if people want to start seeing these candidates, you're going to see a whole lot of them as these different events go on throughout the summer, different meetings, different events.

You're going to be able to see them, talk to them. I am a huge proponent. You guys have heard me say it many, many, many times that I'm on the air. When you seek, candidates have... meet and greets, when you see them have fundraisers, all these different events, I recommend that you go there because you can hear from their lips with the policies that they're saying that they want to implement. You can ask them questions. I think getting a face-to-face with people

It just, it makes those connections so much more meaningful and impactful. So when you have an issue, they say, oh, that's right, I met Amy out at Big Lake. Oh, that's right, I met Amy at the Alaska State Fair, or whatever. Personally, I think it's a lot harder for people to ignore you when they know you personally. So I think... That is a true statement there. I got to be honest with you. I mean, politics...

in my view, is psychological warfare. That's how I've always treated it. Oh, that is absolutely, completely true. I am very, I'm very competitive. I will tell you, I'm very competitive. And I like to win. But I like it in people's kitchens. Especially campaigning. The most fun I have when I'm campaigning. It's like screwing with my opponent a little bit. You know, I've got to be honest with you. It's just fun. I think I get you. We had a blast when we were campaigning.

You know, when he campaigned against me. It was a lot of fun. I actually really liked him when I was campaigning with him, but I'm very competitive, so I wanted to win, you know. You know, that's why I say it's a lot of fun, but these are the type of opportunities that I encourage people to go to. We will be having our meeting.

Saturday, 10 a.m., out in Big Lake. And if you're a registered Republican and you want to sign up as an associate member or member, you can. It's like, I don't know, it's like 15, 20 bucks. It's not very exciting. And speaking, there's going to be this. Just a little bit of Bernadette. Oh, goodness. Yeah, Bernadette Wilson will be the guest speaker this month, so I look forward to having that conversation with her. And again, as Judy, A range choice. having a talk on Thursday night.

in Anchorage from 6 to 8 p.m. That does it for us! We'll be back with you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed tomorrow morning at 6. Until then. I can't hear you. I make learning a privilege, not a chore, and frustration and the Ad Council.
