Our lines are open at 907-522-0650. This is The Morning Drive on NewsRadio 650, KENI. Good morning! It is Tuesday, March 4th. It is a glorious day in the Mat-Su. It's a little dark yet.
But I will tell you, temperatures are relatively mild. Right now, I'm sitting at 37.8 degrees in Palmer. It has been incredibly warm, like 37.8.
i thought i had you today i did i thought i had you what do you have what do you what do you got 33 34 at spenard over here they say it's 30 degrees but it's like sweating hot out there this morning oh man like yesterday i couldn't believe it you know when i came home uh from work i you know i'm like i'm looking around i'm like gosh like we're It was 47 in my car, and I'm looking at it, and I'm like, man, this, I mean, we're like pushing 50, and it's not even May 15th yet.
I got squishy in my yard. I mean, literally, I've got squishy spots in my yard. I was a bad kid. I stood there and puddled one of them just going, I can't believe it, I can't believe it, I can't believe it. Of course, I got yelled at, but you know. Well, I was looking at temperatures. Kenai's checking in at 35. Big Lake, 31. Fairbanks, 7.
So they're a little chilly this morning, which is good. You know, the Iditaride started yesterday. Yeah, we don't want them dogs sweating too hard. Yeah, exactly. All in all, it looks like it's going to be a relatively nice day out there. You know, Randy is early. I'm just going to go ahead and go to Randy. Early bird gets the worm, as they say. Good morning, sir.
Good morning. I just wanted to do a joke. All right. I really enjoyed listening to all you guys, like the ballad John and Ken and everybody else, because they had great observations and discussions. Anyway, just a joke. Okay. TV Gardner, what's his favorite thing? I don't know. What? Shoot, man. I forgot the joke. Daryl buzzed you. That's okay. I got one for you, all right? I got an easy one for you. Are you ready? All right, where do Californians go for fresh fruit? No clue. Orange County.
You get what you pay for, Randy. I'll throw one in there for you, Randy. Did you hear about the queen who was only 12 inches tall? No. She was a great ruler. All right, Randy, you too. Bye-bye. Okay, there we go. There we go. I got to tell you, you know, I love a good dad joke. With all the seriousness that's going on in the world, you got to take some time and have a chuckle.
I got to tell you. My dad's very impressed with you, by the way, Daryl. How you can come up with jokes off the top of your head. Like, I don't have that skill at all. I have to read my jokes. I think they actually fall out from behind my ears where they come from. But I know I am still working.
on coming up with a good dad joke for you. I have not quite succeeded yet, but I'm getting closer and closer. You've come up with some good ones. You've come up with some good ones, but, you know, I like... We'll get there. We'll get there. All right. Well, let's get into some community announcements for today. There's not a ton going on. I did peruse the calendars, though, across the state.
And here is a rundown of what is going on today for Tuesday, March 4th. We have a regular assembly meeting out here in the Mat-Su Borough at 6 p.m. this evening. That will, of course, be at the assembly chambers located at 350 East Dahlia Avenue. Palmer. That is the only thing I see on the calendar for the Matsu borough. So if you'd like to see the Assembly's calendar, just go to matsugov.us and then follow the links to Assembly, and you'll be able to find their agenda for tonight, rather.
As I'm looking at the city of Wasilla and Palmer, I didn't see anything on their calendar for today. There is a Geotechnical Advisory Commission meeting today in the Municipality of Anchorage from 12 to 1.30. That's going to be at 1400 West Benson Boulevard, Suite 420 in the Pingo Conference Room. As I'm looking at it right here, they're going to be looking at, they always say IBC, but it's the International Building Codes Local Amendment Review Committee.
It's actually amazing how much building codes and the adoption of building codes can change the cost of construction. and some of the different things that go on, most of the changes are fine. Some of the changes you look at and you're like, yeah, no. So this is actually, I know it sounds dry as you know very dry but um this is the third meeting of the geotechnical advisory commission they will be again reviewing the international building codes amendment review this happens every
three or four years, something like that, new building codes come out. And so usually we lag behind a couple years. So you might have on a national level, you know, the building codes were in, what, 2025. You might have 2020.
you know, five coming out now or 2024 coming out now, but we might be working under the 2021 codes. That's not unusual. So this doesn't have anything to do with the way they're changing Title 21 because they're doing a major rewrite. Well, I guess that's different, though, because you're talking.
electric actual structure actual structures yeah not just like zoning and planning and like land use this is actual like building codes what kind of r-22 right okay okay i get it okay and the geotechnical Commission can't adopt the codes the assembly has to adopt it so what will happen is once the Geotechnical Advisory Commission gets through their review they'll make recommendations and this will go to the title which one they don't call it the title 21 committee anymore
It's like the planning and review. I don't know. It's like, yeah, it's one of those assembly committees. I should know the name of it because I'm the one who renamed it, but, you know, it's early. I haven't had coffee yet. But once it goes to their...
They're effectively, they're Title 21 committee. They'll review it, and then the assembly, by ordinance, will adopt it. And sometimes we adopt sections of it and not the whole thing. So you'll just have to watch for that. If you're a builder or in real estate, these are the people that really get interested.
All right, as far as the Anchorage Assembly goes, tonight you do have an assembly meeting. It starts at 5 p.m. All those items for public testimony will be by 6 p.m. Well, I say by. It starts at 6 p.m. And then that will be tonight. I did not peruse your calendar, but I will tell you the Anchorage Assembly is getting set to...
You know, everything, all things sales tax, those conversations are coming up. And I had a friend send me a text a few days ago about today's meeting and talking about the sales tax proposal. So I think it might be on your agenda for tonight. I'm just scrolling my messages. Have you had a chance to look at your calendar? So they've got a really weird spot on here on 13A. It's a clerk's note. Yeah. And the clerk's office understands that is the intent of the...
Okay, so that means... okay okay yeah so I will tell I will tell you that's going to be the big one that's coming up the Anchorage Assembly is moving forward continued hearing on sales tax Yeah, so one of my friends texted me and said, March 4th, AO 2024-105, continued hearing on sales tax. So if they're pairing it down to one version, that's... Are they withdrawing all the versions or just that? So it looks like they've submitted now this AO 2024-0105A AO project.
Anchorage version 4.3 clean for submission is what I'm looking at. It's probably the final one on it. I mean, they do have several others in here, but...
Like I said, that one says clean for submission. That's new. They're making stuff up at this point because that's not really a thing. But it sounds like what they've done is they've... kind of take probably taken parts and pieces it's probably been a very long i know it has been a long process they've been looking at it for a long time so they probably just you know to to just
To make it less confusing, they probably just put a clean version in. That's nice because I just now looked at, you know, you always have your supporting documents. There's usually like five or six. Yeah. Forty.
supporting documents holy this is literally the biggest zoo i've seen i think so the biggest the biggest question for anchorage voters is do you want do you trust the anchorage assembly with more of your tax dollars you know and it's not going to be it's not just going to be us i mean it's not just going to be anchorage i say us it's not just going to be anchorage folks but all my costco trips are going to get more expensive that's what's going to happen
That's what's going to happen. So would I rather pay sales tax in the map, Sue, in Westzilla, or would I rather pay sales tax in Anchorage? Probably Westzilla, to be honest. They're very good with their money out here. Well, that's what I was going to say. I mean, considering that.
how it's spent yeah i i probably would end up driving out there myself so yeah so that's going to be the big ticket item that's going to be discussed a lot um in the next few weeks is is the potential sales tax that anchorage is is looking like they're going to be.
coming to the voters to ask to implement. All right, so if you want more information on tonight's Anchorage Assembly meeting, all you have to do is go to muni.org, click on the Assembly tab, and it'll bring you right in. As far as the Kenai Peninsula borough goes tonight, the only thing I see on their calendar There is a Saldovia Recreational Service Area Board meeting that's from 515 to 715 at the Sea Otter Community Center. If you need more information, just go to kpb.us.
And that's it for our community announcements. I didn't see anything in the city of Kenai, Saldatna, or Homer for today. So pretty light scheduled today for those community meetings. If you have an announcement, something you'd like to plug, we're always happy to do it. Just give us a call, 522-0650. We're going to go ahead and take our first break of the morning. We'll be right back.
Looking at your Alaska total traffic cameras on this Tuesday morning. Looks like a real nice morning out there. Traffic is light all around town and inbound on the Glen Highway. I'm not seeing any stoppages. Windshields as you get out on the roads this morning. We'll see those temperatures warming into the mid to upper 30s with clouds. sticking around. For Alaska's weather source, I'm meteorologist Aaron Morrison.
Amy Demboski, 628 Mornings on News Radio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back, current time, 6... 21 on this tuesday morning we're going to go to the phones and this lady is with us good morning ma'am well good morning how are you doing Fantastic. It's Tuesday, which is one day closer to Wednesday. You know, my favorite day. So I'm doing good. How are you doing? Oh, I took a fall back Monday, like a week ago.
Oh, no. It was like, man, I tell you, I'm really glad none of the neighbors, I hope, had no cameras going. I was wearing them clogs, and I went to walk around the west side of the building. Yeah. It was like, you know, yay, you know, break up. And I was wearing this black house dress, and I walked around, and it was like this little fine sheet of ice.
And the feet went out to the left, and the kneecap took it on the right. Oh, no. And my hand went down, and my middle finger, I don't know what I caught, but it ripped it unbelievable. So I'm an old lady. I'm wearing a black dress, no underwear. I'm wearing these black shoes. I've got blood going all over the snow. And I'm trying to get myself up, and the only thing I could think of...
is I hope nobody's got a drone in the area. Well, I hope you heal quickly. I will tell you, I have taken the worst spills of my life wearing clogs outside in the wintertime. I used to wear them all the time. And one time... we had in our old house we had these steps that they went down and then they turned like you know a 90 degree and then and I swear to God I slipped on the first step and I don't know how I made the corner but I slid
all the way down the stairs and my family as loving as they are they were all sitting in the car waiting for me and instead of saying are you okay they all start they're laughing hysterically yeah they think it's hilarious Yeah, my naked butt's up in the airport towards the neighbor's house. I'm going, oh, man. And then I went to the hospital.
It was pretty bad, but it's feeling good. Hey, Amy. Yes, ma'am. Did you get a call about maybe two weeks back from Nick Baggage when he had, like, that conference call?
i did not i was i did not i was not part of that no okay well i got i got it and he said that like you know people want help and everything you know to give them a call and that which is really really nice But when I was sitting there bleeding all over the place, I go to dial the phone number of the clinic here in the valley, and I got all this blood running and everything.
They'll put you on hold for 15 minutes. They'll tell you it's 9, it's 15 minutes to call here in the Valley. And you know where it's going through? Walla, Walla, Washington. You're bleeding and you've got to wait for somebody in Walla Walla, Washington to find who you're looking for in the clinic. And they're talking about where they've got all these people, middlemen.
They need to cut this nonsense out. You know, you dial the phone number, you get the clinic. You're going to give somebody a job, give it to them here in Alaska. Yeah, I agree with you. As we look and see some of the consolidations that are happening, we may actually see more and more of that, but it is incredibly frustrating when you can't get somebody local to give you a quick answer.
Or help, yeah. Yeah, you just dial the number and somebody picks up the phone, you know, instead of directing it through Washington. And honey, one more quick thing. The governor's talking about maybe, well, maybe we won't give you $20,000. He's going goody-goody. He's got two years in office. He's got Trump in the line. They're talking about all the big things they're going to do. They're telling us they're going to throw us crumbs. That $20,000 that they're telling us to get off the train.
is the money that they've stole from us in these last nine years. Tally it up. So they want to give us the money they stole from us to tell us, there you go. And meanwhile, they got big dreams. Now, what's wrong with that picture? Well, when I think about the legislature and knowing who's down there right now,
You know, I think years ago they call it the Mackey plan. I think it was Mackey who was the one who was originally talking about the cash out. And back then, that was before they actually, you know, took your money. Now, I honestly. don't think I don't think we'll ever see a full PFD again and I don't think they would ever I think there's enough people down there that would absolutely not give you a cash out I just don't think a cash out would ever make it past the Senate
You know, I think about Kathy Giesel, who thinks it's just a handout for you. You know, the way she talks about it, she makes it sound like every Alaskan's on welfare, and it's just a handout when it's really, you know, your... part your share of the mineral wealth of the state that is forcibly collectively owned.
But it's amazing to me when I hear some of them talk the way they talk. And that's why I said I would be shocked if there were enough legislators to get something like that actually passed the legislature. And they're also, they stole our subsurface rights, too. That's right. That's why I say it's forced collectively owned, because you're not, if you lived in Houston, Texas, and you hit oil on your property, you'd be rich.
If you had oil on your property here in Alaska, guess what? The government says move over, it's ours. And so... You know, it's definitely a very different system up here, but that's the whole point. You know, when we start talking about the collective wealth of the state for the benefit of all of us, the PFD is a way to make sure the shareholders of the state, the people who reside here,
have a direct connection to that resource that they collectively own that the government has forcibly taken. So I think, for me personally, I think it's a reasonable way, if that's the system in place, but look, they're going to do everything they can, just like legislators do with Social Security and every other honeypot of money that they identify. They'll find their way to get their fingers on it. Unfortunately.
You know what? That money that they've stole from the people, literally stole from the people in the razzle-dazzle. Think about all the people that could have repaired their cars to go to work. to better up their houses, to make them better. You know, oil winter's coming. And we went through the COVID. They didn't even throw us peanuts. You know what I mean?
Yeah, I know. Well, you know, I think about it, and, you know, as I was raising my kids, you know, that's what paid for my son's braces was his permanent fund dividend and, you know, mine. And that's what you do is we used it to get by. We used it to do those extra things. We weren't a family that went on vacation a lot at all. I mean, it was everyday necessities. It was paying the bills. It was, you know, paying for kids' sports.
It was making sure the kids had braces, you know, all those kinds of things. And when you take that money directly out of Alaskans' hands, you're taking it out of the economy. people that use it just to get by every year to, like you said, buy the oil for their heaters for the winter. They've taken that away, and I think what they're doing is effectively making people more reliant.
on the government programs. Yeah, the prices are going up. Yeah, they certainly are. So it's definitely harder for sure. Well, lady, it was great talking to you. I always love it when you call in. You made my day. Thank you for taking my call, and you have a beautiful day. And Ashland stays tomorrow. Yes, ma'am. And all you people out there of faith, listen, there is a God.
And God likes it when it's like this, and he's the God of the impossible. So if you people out there will pray that the Lord gives them a double portion, if they think it's good what they're doing to the least of these. Let's pray for them a double portion. I love it. Thank you so much, lady, for your call. I appreciate it. All right, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. If you'd like to call in, be part of the show, 522-0650. This is News Radio 650, KENI.

News Radio 650 KENI, your pipeline to the world. Looking at your Alaska total traffic cameras on this Tuesday morning. Looks like a real nice morning out there. Traffic is light all around town and inbound on the Glen Highway. I'm not seeing any stuff. Welcome back. Current time, 635. Well, little fun fact. People are very confused of what's happening today because President Trump will be addressing a joint session of Congress this evening. Correct. And...
And so people would just automatically assume it's the State of the Union address. Technically, not so. Right. I actually had to look it up because I was like, it's too soon for the State of the Union. Like, it threw me off a little. And so I was like, this is not. the State of the Union. Is this the State of the Union? It is not. Technically it is not. So I have an article from USA Today.
It says, since 1913, presidents normally deliver a State of the Union address outlining the nation's priorities and achievements, but this year there won't be a State of the Union technically. Technically. The State of the Union is delivered in joint session of Congress inside the House of Representatives chamber. The idea of the State of the Union is written into the United States Constitution. Usually it marks the one year in office or close to the one year in office.
of the president so typically it's a year in review what has happened and what our priorities are for the future blah blah blah But tonight, anyways, Trump is going to be addressing Congress. So they say it's kind of like a State of the Union. So there you have it. So it says that... Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, invited the president to address a joint session of Congress on March 4th. The date will mark the first time Trump will make a speech of this kind in his second administration.
It says right here, here is a quote. It says, and this is the letter from Johnson to Trump. It says, it is my distinct honor and great privilege to invite you to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. So it will be interesting. We'll see what happens. J.D. Vance is up on the Hill right now in preview of...
what is going to be happening this evening. J.D. Vance is up there on the hill talking with legislators and whatnot. It was interesting. I don't have audio clips for you to play because, you know, we could beat a dead horse, and I'm good at that. But J.D. Vance last night sat down with Sean Hannity and had a really good interview. I listened to about, I think the audio clip from it was about.
14 minutes long, and it was very common sense. Yeah, it was very common sense. So, Daryl gave me the look. You know, it was all the same things. He said, basically, I mean, this is common sense. If you're going to negotiate a peace deal, you have to have both sides at the table. You have to have willing participants to come to the table and actually have a conversation, and Zelensky's not interested. He is not at the point yet where he's interested in sitting down. That's it.
He's, you know, and you have to have both sides willing to sit down and have a deal. And Zelensky is just digging in and saying no. Like he absolutely wants. you know, what he's calling security guarantees, which most of us say, okay, well, that's probably reasonable. But what does he really want? He really wants a U.S. military might to basically protect his country. Not going to happen.
And at the end of the day, I think Zelensky is corrupt. And I don't really, I personally don't think he really wants this war to end right now. The gravy train is coming. And I've talked about this a little bit. I don't really see the mainstream media talking about it, but Tucker Carlson has been all over it.
talking about half of the military, and of course this is like estimates, but what he said was about half of the military arms the U.S. has sent over there to Ukraine. Ukraine has turned around and sold on the black market. Not surprising. So you say that and you're like, well.
Okay, I mean, so again, even before this war happened, Ukraine was one of the most corrupt places to do business probably on earth. And so you look at it and you say, okay, for the billions and billions of dollars we're sending, are we going to now up the ante and send you? US military personnel over there to that country? I don't think so. That's actually what Zelensky and I've watched a bunch of quote man on the street interviews of interviews of Ukrainians.
That's what they want and expect. They want U.S. troops on Ukrainian soil defending them. No, thank you. No, thank you. So as we have these conversations and we see what happens, you know, J.D. Vance, I would recommend if you get a chance, go to Fox News today and watch the interview with Sean Hannity because I think he did a good job.
a couple audio clips for today that i'm going to play because i think it'll and i'll probably do it in the seven o'clock hour but i think it'll give you a little different perspective what i've been trying to do because everybody covers the same thing over and over again So rather than going to the back and forth exchange, I'm trying to give you some context as to what is actually happening in this very complicated, very dangerous situation. Something that may be the mainstream.
media isn't going to cover. So we'll get back to that in a second. But I have to tell you, are you one that watches the Iditarod? They have taken off. They have taken off from... From Fairbanks, I think they said there was 33 teams is what I saw. That's what I think I saw. I had it pulled up here just a minute ago. I've got to find where I've got it. Yep. Prepare to be adaptable. That's the headline that mushers were told. This coming from the ADN.
Mushers leave Fairbanks to officially launch a historic 53rd Iditarod. This year's 1,128-mile sled dog race follows a novel route through the interior of Alaska with a loop on the Yukon River. This is going to be one of the longest ones. 33 teams. Here we go. The Iditarod Trail sled dog race that is both historic and a major departure from the norm launched onto the Chena River on Monday morning, sending 33 teams. to Nome for the 53rd running of the race.
The course was overhauled just two weeks ago when the Iditarod Trail Committee announced that poor snow conditions made the traditional southern route untenable, forcing organizers to shift the restart. When the racing officially begins nearly 300 miles north from Willow to Fairbanks, the move put preparations into hyperdrive for the race organizers. So now the race is approximately 1,128 miles.
making it the longest Iditarod yet. This year's field of 33 musters is the smallest in race history. Not surprising. Not surprising. I was going to say, and it's also... That new route doesn't let them use their tactics that they normally, I mean, these mushers, I don't know if you know or not, they have literally playbooks and tactics on how they do this. And this kind of really throws all the tactics out until they hit the coast.
the coast, then they can fall back on it. But right now, I'm sure they're all literally just going, I don't know. Yeah, it's interesting. I'm looking at the new trail. The longer-than-usual trail this year includes an addition of a loop on the Yukon River running south from Kalatag to Eagle Island, Grayling, Anvik, and then Shagaluck.
Racers will then head back to Grayling and up to Caltag before heading west to Norton Sound Coast. So it's definitely a long race, and it's going to be a warmer one. I mean, yesterday some temperatures were hitting near 30 up in that area. So for the dogs, that's kind of warm, actually. So we will see. We will see. All right, let's go to the phones. And Scott is with us. Good morning, sir. Hello. Hey, so I'm not sure if it was... Carlson, but he said he...
was in Switzerland with his friends or something. And he said the little town he was in was... Full of nothing but people from Ukraine. And they were just buying up properties left and right, dropping all kinds of cash. I've seen the same kind of reports, and I've seen different social media influencers that are over in Ukraine, and one street that I can think of as he was...
As he was walking through and he was just videoing, all you see is these luxury cars. And when I say luxury cars, I mean cars that are like $200,000, $250,000 a piece just lining the streets. And, you know, look, it's a major.
problem when they say and the numbers vary from 60 to 100 billion dollars they just can't say where it went please I mean that's why I say this conversation will get way more interesting I have two audio clips that I'll play a little bit later that are sparking in my mind right now one is from rfk jr when he was i think it was when he was running for president and the other was from tulsi gabbard from last year sometime and both of them talk about ukraine and and that's
I love social media and I love the digital age because some of these things that people have said that were probably overly candid, now we can turn around and play and it gives us context. But you're right. I think... the day of accountability has come you know trump came out last night and he's paused military aid to ukraine
i think it's i think it's just a leverage tactic to get them back to the table i don't think it's going to last for all that long but it is look they're definitely turning up the pressure to try to get ukraine to come to the table to make a deal One more thing. So... So I guess... the parts of the country that hold these minerals are the ones that are controlled by
They're definitely in the contested area. They're in that area that is very close to, and in some cases, to your point, maybe controlled by Russia. It would have been a brilliant move for Ukraine to give the U.S. some sort of economic interest in that. And we're talking a significant economic interest. Well... What if the deal is secretly between Putin and Trump? And that's why Zelensky's not... being included in these talks.
say anything is possible but I just I think I don't think there's validity to that I haven't seen any evidence of that validity and I say that for I try to think that generally the most simple solution or issue answer is usually the right one. When you look at Zelensky in general and you look at what has happened in general with the war in Russia,
Obviously, Russia has invaded Ukraine, but I've been trying to lay out over the last couple of days, you know, I mean, this is a far more complicated issue that has gone back to the 80s that most people aren't talking about. But look. They only invaded the eastern parts of Ukraine, which want to be have voted that they want to join. Russia. Yeah. Well, and I would say this. They haven't gone anywhere further. Well, and I will say this. Any further west than that.
I have a clip from RFK Jr. I think that will shine a little light on some of the history of this area. But to your point, there is a huge population. Some counts 20% to 30% of the population are Russian-speaking. So there's no question there is a historical connection to the former USSR to Russia. There's no question about that. But I would say when I'm looking at Zelensky, if I say that this is potentially
some secret deal between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to keep these minerals. I would say... I think the evidence bears more fruit that Zelensky is basically, in my view, a grifter. Zelensky has taken what was truly the American and European desire to help him.
you know defend his country and now he's turning it into a perpetual war and I don't think I think the motivation when we talk about If somebody has a motive to do something, Zelensky has a motive to keep this war going because billions and billions and billions, hundreds of billions of dollars are flowing into his country from other countries. And he's now suspended the elections. He's stayed in office a year longer than his term, right? And then there's no end in sight.
Yeah, if there's no end in sight. I mean, what is his motivation to come to the table and end the war? Because he knows that once he's not... Charge. Exactly. He's a dead man. He's dead walking. I guarantee that. Scott, I think you're right. Hey, I'm running a little bit late on my break, so I've got to take a quick break. But I think your points are very well landed here. I think once Zelensky's out of office.
he's going to be looking over his shoulder because not only will he probably not be in office anymore, like he probably won't be with us anymore. So good point. All right, we're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back.

Prepare for the possibility for some dew or light frost on your windshields as you get out on the roads this morning. to the boss, Amy Demboski. Call 907-522-0650 and be a part of the show on News Radio 650. KENI. Well, I've been trying to pepper in a few more Alaska stories because I can't help myself. Until I feel like there's closure, I can't let this story go, this whole, you know, Zelensky thing, because I do think this is probably one of the biggest, most dangerous conflicts.
that potentially could spark world war three in my lifetime like this is a big one this is a big one so we will we will get back to it in the seven o'clock hour because i do have a couple audio clips that i don't think others are going to play but i think we'll give you some context and some Just something to think about as you think about, you know, what really is at stake and what is really going on, because everybody's just going to be.
Russia, Russia, Russia. Russia collusion. Oh, look, Trump's an agent of Russia. Oh, look, Trump's budding up to Putin. I mean, the same talking points are going to come on. That's just where we are. But there is a news story that was put out last night. the ADN. Here we are. We are a new year, 2025, pedestrian killed by a hit-and-run SUV driver in Anchorage. Anchorage police say they're still looking for a driver of an SUV that hit and killed a woman on foot near Mirafield Sunday morning.
Police officers in the Anchorage Fire Department of Medics responded around 2.35 a.m. Sunday to report a hit-and-run collision at East 15th Avenue in Orca involving a pedestrian in a silver SUV. They say the woman's death was a third pedestrian fatality this year in Anchorage.
A man and a woman were killed last month in separate incidents on the same night. At least 15 pedestrians died in Anchorage last year after being struck by vehicles. So if police are asking that, if witnesses saw Sunday morning's incident, And if you have not already spoken with APD, you should contact Investigator Mark Furtano. I said that totally wrong. Fortunato. Fortunato. That's how I'd say it.
Just call APD Dispatch at 311. That's the easiest way to do it. And they will help you get to the right place. There you go. There you go. I don't know if I have enough time for Joe. I'm going to attempt it. All right, Joe, good morning, sir. Thank you, Amy. You could also let me hold on after the break, but hey, if President Trump told Putin to get the hell out of Ukraine by Saturday...
he would do it. Now, Amy, I have voted for Trump three times, and I do not get emotionally attached to the people I vote for. I know the difference between right and wrong and history of World War I and II and the American-European alliance that won those wars. And for... to allow russia into ukraine and take ukraine they're just a little bit a few miles west of
better than Germany was east in World War II. And the thing is, Trump's got a lot of irons in the fire. He's president of the greatest country in the world. And he's also got the Trump financial empire. And I think he's playing, you know, he's walking a tightrope. How about it, Amy? Well, I think to some degree you're right to some degree, but I don't think you're right. I think the difference, and I think, did you listen to yesterday's show by chance?
You know, I did not, but I do listen most of the time. No, no, I appreciate that. The only reason I ask is because yesterday I went into the history of NATO, I went into the end of World War II, and I went into some of the incursions that happened and why... We are where we are.
So to some degree, I think the big difference between telling the Palestinians to get the heck out of Israel or to return the hostages or all heck will break loose. But the difference between the Palestinians and the Russians is the Russians are nuclear armed. The Russians have supersonic missile capability that most places, even maybe the U.S., don't even have.
So it is a much higher stakes discussion and history and deal than dealing with Palestinians that are chucking rocks and making improvised devices. I'm just saying, that might be one aspect as to why Trump hasn't done this. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Triggers a sell-off.
I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News. The Dow is plunging 726 points on top of yesterday's big drop that was almost as big on worry about tariffs that went into effect today. At White House Trade, Senior Counselor Peter Navarro tells Fox News. Necessary to stop the flow of deadly fentanyl into the US. President Trump has said no mas to Mexico, no more to China. Not gonna happen on his watch. And right now, this is simply an action to stop.
Americans dying. Mexico's president's responding. Claudia Schein, mom saying this morning, we don't want to trade war, it only hurts people. She plans to detail her retaliation Sunday to the 25% U.S. tariffs on Mexican imports, the same for goods from Canada, 10% on Canadian energy, and another 10% in tariffs on Chinese imports. Both China and Canada are retaliating with tariffs of their own on American exports.
The U.S. is putting military aid to Ukraine on hold after providing billions of dollars worth of weapons and ammo and gear since Russia invaded. Vice President J.D. Vance just said, We want the Ukrainians to have a sovereign and an independent country.
Ukrainian troops have fought very bravely. But we're at a point here where neither Europe nor the United States nor the Ukrainians can continue this war indefinitely. And we expect to hear more about ending that war tonight when President Trump addresses the nation before a joint session of Congress.
illegal immigration and Fox Business Network's Hillary Vaughn reports from the Capitol. President Trump will brag about the savings that Doge has brought the American people, with savings over $100 billion so far. Democrats are planning their own protest over Doge tonight.

be out here in the Mat-Su. He is the headliner. He is the keynote speaker for the 2025 Lincoln Day Dinner that will be held at Settlers Bay Lodge by the Valley Republican Women's Club of Alaska. You can still get your tickets. I recommend you go there and get your tickets because it is starting to fill up. VRWAK.com is, again, where you can go to get your tickets. And, again, that's going to be March 15th, 6.30 p.m. at Settlers Bay Law.
There's going to be all kinds of stuff. Not only will Nick be there to say hi to everybody and give an update of what he's learned while he's been in D.C. so far, But there's going to be so many different auction items. There will be a great meal, prime rib, chicken marsala. I mean, there's going to be all kinds of good stuff. And there will be dessert auction there, I think. And then what else? Oh.
Wall of Guns will be hosted by Arctic Ammo. Oh, boy. So, I mean, come on. You can't get... And they have a very... I don't know if I'm allowed to say this or not. Okay, Pam, forgive me, but I'm going to say it. They have a very cool, very... special collector's item gun that was signed by Don Young that they're going to be auctioning off. So I'm not going to give any more details than that. I probably gave too much already, but they will be. Look, you say Wall of Guns, you got me there already.
I'm just saying I will be there. So it'll be a great event. Again, if you haven't gotten your tickets, go to VRWAK.com. It will be March 15th, 6.30 p.m. at Settlers Bay Lodge. Great food. great location, and lots of great people that you'll be able to say hi to. All righty. So I was just thinking, Daryl, I will do this right now. I haven't done this before, but I'll do it right now. If people want to go.
The first two people that call in and tell Daryl they want to go, give them your name and phone number. I will personally buy your tickets. Oh, my. I will do that. And this is not, I mean, this is, you know, like I said, I mean. This is shwanky, people. This is shwanky. This is shwanky. It is shwanky. So you have to dust off your church.
It is a swanky type of little bit of an event. So if anybody wants to go and you're thinking, you know, it's a little tough to swing it this time, I would be happy to buy two people. a meal at Settlers Bay Lodge. Wow. So there you go. That's a great deal. And remember, you just got to dress up nice. Don't pull a Zalinski. Don't come in your sweatpants. That's it. That's it. So you just have to give Daryl your name and number, and I will be happy to buy two people tickets.
to the event and then there you go it'll be it'll be a fun event and i will be there i'm going to be there because i'm a member of the valley republican women's club and so i will be working
Man, they never stop. They always crack the whip. What can I say? All right. Well, I do, you know, I kind of chuckle because as we have this conversation, about elections, and we see this in Juneau right now, where elections always are on the back mind, sometimes the forefront of people's mind, when they're passing legislation or blocking legislation. Okay.
or jockeying for position, so to speak. And it comes as no surprise, some of the frontrunners on the Democratic side for president already, Daryl, president already, in 2028 so we heard yesterday if you listen to clay and buck i was listening to them on my way to work and i was just laughing andrew colomo former governor of new york is now running for mayor of new york
And so, you know, everybody expects he's going to win. He's going to get elected. Well, he kind of in disgrace left, right, the whole COVID debacle and everything. Well, so now he's running for mayor of New York, which is clearly a stepping stone for him to be the presidential nominee for the Democrats. Get back relevant. Get on the forefront.
And he will be in the top tier of Democratic challengers. But then I kind of chuckle because then there's another article yesterday that comes out. New York Governor Hochul abruptly shifts stance as she now claims to lead the anti-Trump. resistance. We're coming back hard, is what she said. That's an MSN article. But, you know, so now Hochul is trying to claim to be the leader of the anti-Trump resistance. All right.
Here we go. Here we go. So she's jumping in the mix. She's currently New York's governor. And then here comes Gavin. Slick Willie himself. Here comes Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom, according to Breitbart. Copies Elon Musk Doge. She's ordering California workers, California government workers, to come back into the office four days a week starting on Monday.
I want to sing that one song, California Work. Oh, no, never mind. That's the wrong song. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So here we have it. You know, this right here, as I'm looking at, you have Hochul leading the resistance in New York. You have... running for mayor of New York, former governor, now running for mayor. And then you have Newsom doging California. I mean, this right here.
this is the democrat primary for for uh for president in 2028 they're jacking in for position that we'll see who else pops up there you know we'll see who else pops up there i saw bill maher made a comment uh you know he was like in fetterman you know being like you got a dude who's a dude who talks to average Americans about the things they care about. Again, when the left doesn't, when they double down on their insanity, look, yesterday in the Senate,
In the U.S. Senate, the Democrats, even Fetterman, the Democrats blocked the girls in sports, protecting girls in sportsville. Right. They absolutely blocked it. And with that, you know, I saw a statistic earlier today on Fox when I was up at the crack of dawn waking up the rooster. I saw a statistic. on Fox, and this is the numbers. 94% of Republicans believe that transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete in women's sports. 64% of independence, 67% of Democrats.
That means on average, when we do the math, 79% total of the country, of those polled, believe that transgender men should not compete in women's sports. 79% of the country, yet every single Democrat yesterday, voted to block the protecting girls' sports bill. You know what I think needs to happen? What's up?
When this next election comes up for each and every one of these Democrats, they need to have put on their, literally on their signs, I believe men should compete against women in all things. But Daryl, they're not men. They were assigned the wrong gender at birth. That's still going against science. So put that right there. Also, we cannot tell the difference between a man and a woman. That needs to be literally put out there for everybody. On their t-shirt.
On their T-shirt. Exactly. And for those that couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic. Senator Sullivan did put out a press release yesterday. Sullivan votes for a bill to protect women and girls in sports blocked by Senate Democrats. U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan voted to...
the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, legislation that would protect hard-fought Title IX protections for women by prohibiting federal funds from going to schools and universities that allow biological males to compete against females.
athletes in sports and other activities designated for women or girls the bill would codify President Trump's keeping men out of women's sports executive order that was signed into law on February 5th 2025 with a wide support from Americans across country The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act failed to advance after being blocked by Senate Democrats. Here's a quote from Senator Sullivan. Too many girls and women across our country have had their dreams dashed.
because the former administration shredded Title IX protections by allowing biological men to compete against them in sports. Protecting our daughters' and granddaughters' rights to fair and safe competition is a civil rights issue.
and I'm proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Protection of Women and Girls Sports Act. Going forward, I am also eager to lock arms with organizations across the country and in our state to fight back against a culture that is... intent on dismantling our values and denying our female athletes the right to stand.
on the winner's platform, end quote. So Senator Sullivan's firm actually, Lisa Murkowski actually voted for this too to go forward. But because of the filibuster, you needed 60 votes to put the... to put the vote forward And it ultimately failed 51 to 45, if memory serves. There were a few people absent. But it was still well short of the 60 votes they needed to break the filibuster. So Democrats locked arms.
and said, nope, this is the hill we're going to die on, even though 79% of the country believes the opposite. Well, you know. Good for them for sticking up for their values. Bring on the midterms. I'm loving it. Bring on the midterms. All right, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. If you'd like to call in, 522-0650.
Looking at your Alaska total traffic cameras on this Tuesday morning. Traffic's picking up around the Anchorage Bowl. No major stoppages yet. There are a few minor traffic slowdowns, so do be careful out there. Get on the show now by calling 907-522-0650.
Welcome back. Current Time 719. Well, we did get our two winners. This is not an iHeartMedia giveaway. This is an Amy Domboski giveaway. And I will tell you, I'm so passionate about people being involved in hearing directly from their... elected officials.
Congressman Nick Begich is going to be out at Settlers Bay Lodge on March 15th for the Lincoln Day Dinner hosted by the Valley Republican Women's Club of Alaska. March 15th, 6.30 p.m. You can get your tickets online. All you have to do is... go to VRWAK.com and we have
Two people that I said if they called in, gave me their name and phone number, I would call them after the show, and I will personally buy their tickets, so I'm going to do that. Congratulations to Lady and Rob. Both of them won. We did have other people that called that were...
actually very into it and very excited so i will tell you this again later this week and i want you to have time to plan for it so again later this week i'm not sure which day i'll do it wednesday thursday or friday but i will do it again where I will give away a couple more tickets. And, again, this is not an iHeartMedia raffle. This is just I'm going to purchase your ticket and I'm going to donate it. Because, look.
I would donate to this club anyways because they're a sensational club that does great work. So I will be happy to do that. So later this week, I will do that again, give away a couple more tickets to this event. I love the opportunity for people to get to meet with your elected officials. And I didn't tell you this earlier, Del. You know who the emcee's going to be? Senator Mike Schauer. Oh, Dozer's going to be there. Come on! The only guy I've ever met, I literally...
Truly I'm not kidding you. On his resume, he actually has confirmed MIG kill. And I've seen his resume. I've never seen anybody who actually has a confirmed MIG shooting down. I don't know what you call it. Confirmed MIG kill. Confirmed MIG. Like, I don't know. I don't remember. It's been a number of years since I saw his resume. But when he was first appointed to fill a seat by the governor, I remember seeing his resume and I laughed. I'm like, oh.
only only an f-22 pilot right like this is hilarious and i don't i don't know if he was flying f-22s at the time but Oh, my gosh. I mean, he is entertaining as all get-out. So it will be great to see people there. I will be there for the event. And Congressman Begich, of course, is the headliner.
I look forward to it. So don't be troubled if you weren't one of the two that got the tickets today. I will do it again later this week. And I just have to regroup a little bit and make sure I'm going to pre-reserve the tickets, I think, so that way. they don't sell out so we'll get you taken care of all right well i want to go back to what um joe was talking about a little bit because i think joe made some really good points i mean you know the the issue with ukraine
with Russia and the Palestinians. And you think about all these different conflicts that happen. And you think when Trump comes out of the gate and he tells the Palestinians there's going to be heck to pay if you don't release every single hostage, why doesn't he do that with Russia? And I think...
I think they're apples and oranges. I don't think you can say the same tactics will work with one versus the other. You know, you look at Russia, who is a nuclear power. Are we really going to spark off World War III? I hope not. I think I look at the Palestinians, and they don't have the same capabilities. They don't pose the same threat to potentially the U.S. as the Russians could. I mean... Remember, Sarah Palin could practically see Russia from her house. I'm teasing, of course. Right.
I mean, the reality is these stakes are much, much higher. But the history of this conflict, and not just of this conflict, the history of that whole region. is something I think a lot of people don't know a ton about. I will put myself in that category. I know a little about it. I know enough about it to feel like I have a
General understanding, but there's nuances thread throughout. And I went back last night, and I had remembered RFK Jr. when he was running for president. He sat down, and he was at some big auditorium, and he was giving a speech. And he was specifically talking about the history.
history, but in this region. And I wanted to play it for you today. It's very short. It's not very long. But I think it will give you a different context, something that you're not hearing in the everyday media. All right, this is RFK Jr. You know, Putin every day says, I want to settle the war. Let's negotiate. And Zelensky has said, we're not going to negotiate. But in 1992, the wall came down and the Soviet Union. Gorbachev said, I'm going to allow you to reunify Germany.
but i want your commitment after that you will not move nato one inch to the east and we solemnly swore we wouldn't do it well then in 97 we're gonna move nato a thousand miles to the east and take 15 countries into it and surround the soviet union we then overthrow the government In 2014, they're elected government and put in a Western sympathetic government. Russia then has to go into Crimea because they have a port.
And they know the new government that we just installed is going to invite the U.S. Navy into their port. So then the Russians go in. They only send 40,000 people. It's a nation of 44 million people. We clearly do not intend to conquer Ukraine, but they want us back at the negotiating table. The Russians just want a guarantee that Ukraine won't join NATO. Zelensky signs a treaty. Putin's people signed the treaty and Putin starts withdrawing the Russian troops in good faith. And what happens?
Joe Biden sends Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, over to Ukraine in April and forces him to tear up the treaty. And since then, 450,000 kids have died. See, nobody's talking about this. So I wanted to give you just a little snapshot. And this, of course, was last year sometime when he was talking. But I wanted to give you a snapshot of different perspectives when it comes to the totality of the issue.
this in in more detail yesterday about the incrementalism expansion of nato and this is the red line that russia's as will like It is a red line to join Ukraine into NATO. Red line. Can't be done. And this is exactly in 2021, you know, when you start hearing about Joe Biden, there started to become a push to add, what, Ukraine to NATO. And that's not going to work. It's not going to happen. Now, let's change our focus a little bit specifically to Zelensky in Ukraine because this is the power.
of the technology age, right, the technological age where we can capture things people said from, you know, last year when they weren't in their positions they're in now, and you get, I think, a lot more candor at times. Because sometimes when people work for an administration, I've been there, where you have to be a little bit more, you know, reserved and you have to hold your tongue. But when you're running for office, or maybe not even running for office, when you're just, you know.
Out there in the public you can see things a little bit more freely now our current director of national intelligence Telsey Gabbard, she made some rounds this weekend, but before she was the DNI director, What do we have? We have Tulsi Gabbard talking very candidly about Zelensky in Ukraine. I'm going to play that for you now. Here is something that the political establishment and propaganda media don't want you to know.
Ukraine's President Zelensky has just banned yet another political opposition party, one that questioned his legitimacy as president and used Ukraine's Department of Justice to mandate the seizure of this party's members' assets. Now, this is just the latest of Zelensky's actions to do this sort of thing. He began banning major political opposition parties in 2022.
when he also started banning TV channels that were associated with his political opponents. And he took over total control of Ukraine's largest television networks, now controlled by their government. Zelensky's presidential term ended on May 20th. He canceled elections in the name of martial law, suspending Ukraine's constitution so that he could stay in power. Defenders of Zelensky will say, hey, Ukraine is in the middle of a war.
They can't have elections. Just stop for a moment and think if we accept that excuse or criteria for suspending the Constitution and canceling elections. then we should presume that leaders in our own country and our own establishment media will also use this same excuse and rationale when they suspend our constitution and our elections since we too.
are at war with russia and china if you think this sounds crazy look at what's already going on they've already started conditioning us to accept a dictatorship by rationalizing their own use of our Department of Justice to target President Trump and other political enemies in their efforts to stay in power.
Okay, so I think that's an interesting take because, again, I actually had this conversation with somebody recently where they said, well, you know, come on. Ukraine didn't really have elections. You know, 20% of their country is in a war-torn area. Okay. So when we had almost a 20-year war on terrorism, would it have been okay for somebody not only just to not have elections in the U.S., but to suspend the U.S. Constitution? What does it look like?
when the leader then not only basically deposes, bans the opposition party, but decides, Daryl, you know what, you're a Republican. I'm going to seize your property and your assets. Sounds like a dictatorship to me. And then what happens when, oh, no, Fox News during COVID? Oh, no, you're espousing things that are counter to the government's interest. We're going to seize your TV station.
We're going to seize all your radio stations, iHeartMedia, because you're espousing things that are in the opposition to what we think is right. So when people start making the argument, we need to suspend elections, we need to suspend the Constitution, this is exactly effectively how Mao did it in China, right? Take over the media. start segregating your opposition, seizing their assets, putting them in jail, killing them. This is how dictators are born.
This is what happens. And this is what nobody's talking about. Zelensky is not a saint. Now, look, I think everybody has a heart for somebody when their country is invaded for whatever reason, right? Give you the history of what has happened over the course of the many, many years since the 80s or since the end. Let's just say. even since the end of World War II. As we talk about...
As we talk about these different things that have happened, it gives you context to why this issue is so complicated. It's not just so simple as Russia just invaded. Russia is effectively trying to protect their interests. Now, am I saying they're right? No. But what I'm saying is you're not just going to threaten a nuclear power and say, get out or else.
But you have to get Zelensky back to the table. And what I'm asking everyone is to think about what is his motivation to actually come back to the table? Because as one of our earlier callers said, If Zelensky, if there's peace, that means now he's going to have to start having elections again because you know his people will uprise and have elections again. And by all accounts, Zelensky will not win another election over there. So if that's the case.
What happens to him? He loses his power. He loses his money. He loses his influence. And very likely, he probably will lose his life. So what is his motivation? for actually wanting peace, I would argue he has more motivation to keep this thing going as long as he can. So there you have it. When we come back, we will take your calls, 522-0650.
Waking up on the right side. This is the Sean Hannity Morning Minute. Phase one is the mineral deal. Phase two is a ceasefire. Phase three is a negotiated settlement. That negotiated settlement, as I said in my interview with Zelensky a number of weeks back, would include the rare earth mineral deal to pay back the United States and also...
ensure an American presence there. That would help them in terms of their country's security. And number two, a ceasefire. That would be very good for them right now. Because they don't have the manpower and they don't have the weaponry and they don't even have the prospects of drafting any people because they're now forcing 45-year-old men into the battlefield. And I doubt most 45-year-old men can fight like 20.
25-year-old guys. From coast to coast, from sea to shining sea, it's the Sean Hannity Show. The election is officially over. But is your money still at risk? We still have a staggering $35 trillion in debt. Interest on this debt now costs more than our entire defense budget for the first time in history. On top of that, we're still feeling the consequences of the brutal inflation we saw under Biden and the global chaos ripping across the globe.

Welcome back. Current time is 7.40. So I just played you an audio clip from Tulsi Gabbard before she was a DNI. Director of National Intelligence. But, you know, I kind of chuckle because the reality is I'm reading stories and some stories are saying that, you know, she's doing real damage by going on some of these talk shows and talking about the... reality I and I think to some degree if you watch
If you watch J.D. Vance's interview last night with Sean Hannity, what you see is what our intuition told us, is there comes a time where Donald Trump allowed the American people to see what they've been dealing with. And I think that's what has tanked Zelensky's numbers here in the U.S., where people realize, wait a second, If we're giving you a path to peace, and make no mistake about it, tying the U.S. to hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars and resources to Ukraine.
If that isn't security, I mean, that is a huge security blanket right there. But Zelensky wants military boots on the ground. He wants U.S. military bodies. To protect him. And Trump is saying, wait a second, we're trying to... End this war, not escalate it. Especially, I mean, come on, we live in Alaska. We're basically kissing cousins to the Ruskies that are just across the water. And so when you look at it, look, Alaska has a lot of...
stake in this because if we spark off a war with Russia, brothers and sisters, we're on the front line. That's the reality of it. And I don't think any one of us want to be, you know, trench warfaring it here in Alaska in February against the Russians or any time against the Russians. And so there's a lot at stake here. And so Tulsi Gabbard has been...
And she's not the only one. Marco Rubio, J.D. Vance, many people have been talking candidly about some of the risks and some of the realities. And now the headlines are basically, oh. They're doing real damage by doing this in public. Well, maybe it's time the public knows a little bit about what we're dealing with. You know, one of the things that has really impressed me is Marco Rubio. I said this during his confirmation hearings. What I saw.
was somebody who absolutely, well, absolutely positively could be president. When I saw Marco Rubio in his Senate confirmation hearings, like, I was like, sign me up. Like, if this guy runs for president. Like, he was sensational. And he is not disappointing on a world stage. So he sat down with Catherine Heathridge.
at one point so we'll play audio clip one rubio daryl if you don't mind so we'll i'm going to play you some of his so you know what do you know what the united nations resolution was i'll tell you if you want to hear what it was it basically said That's okay. That's the second one. That's the Security Council one. Can you go to the other one for me, please?
Yep, so Marco Rubio sat down with Catherine Hetheridge, and he kind of walked us through, you know, really what Trump is dealing with and what diplomacy is going to mean. But Trump has made this argument over and over again that he is going to be neutral, he is going to get both of them to the table, and he is going to hammer out a peace deal. But in order to do that...
You have to have two parties willing to negotiate. If you do not have two parties willing to negotiate, you're not going to be able to hammer out a peace deal, are you? I mean, that's pretty common sense. So Marco Rubio has absolutely positively shined this week as he's walking the American public and the press, and he's taking them to task. He's walking them.
through this is what diplomacy looks like. Sometimes it's messy. Sometimes it's a little painful. But the reality is this is what you got to do. And President Trump posts. There we go. Here it is. Okay, we're going to go ahead and play it. Go ahead, Daryl. This is Marco Rubio with Catherine Hetheridge. That President Zelensky is a dictator without elections. What are you thinking?
very upset at President Zelensky, and in some cases, and rightfully so. Look, number one, Joe Biden had frustrations with Zelensky. People shouldn't forget it. There are newspaper articles out there about how he cursed at him in a phone call because Zelensky, instead of saying thank you for all your help,
is immediately out there messaging what we're not doing or what he's not getting. I think the second thing is, frankly, I was personally very upset because we had a conversation with President Zelensky, the vice president and I, the two, three of us.
And we discussed this issue about the mineral rights. And we explained to them, look, we want to be a joint venture with you, not because we're trying to steal from your country, but because we think that's actually a security guarantee. If we're your partner in an important economic endeavor, we get to get paid back. of the money the taxpayers have given close to 200 billion dollars and um it also now we have a vested interest in the security of ukraine and he said sure we want to do this deal
It makes all the sense in the world. The only thing is I need to run it through my legislative process. They have to approve it. I read two days later that Zelensky's out there saying, I rejected the deal. I told him no way that we're not doing that. Well, that's not what happened in that meeting. So you start to get upset by somebody. We're trying to help these guys.
One of the points the president made in his messaging is not that we don't care about Ukraine, but Ukraine is on another continent. It doesn't directly impact the daily lives of Americans. We care about it because it has implications for our allies and ultimately for the world.
There should be some level of gratitude here about this. And when you don't see it and you see him out there accusing the president of living in a world of disinformation, that's highly, very counterproductive. And I don't need to explain to you or anybody else, Donald Trump's not, President Trump's not the kind of person that's going to
and sit there and take that. He's very transparent. He's going to tell you exactly how he feels. And he sent a message that he's not going to get gamed here. He's willing to work on peace because he cares about Ukraine. And he hopes Zelensky will be a partner in that and not someone who's out there putting this sort of counter messaging to try to...
you know hustle us in that regard that's not that's not going to be productive here you know it's interesting i cut it a little bit short just because you know we're running out of time but i will tell you later a little bit later you know What Marco Rubio says is we want to make sure that we do this and we have a fair and lasting peace. So they are looking for the long term. But when you hear that audio clip, I mean, what would you think if you're President Trump?
If you're Marco Rubio, if you're J.D. Vance, and you have a deal with this guy, you know you have a deal, everybody agrees, you know, whatever, whatever. And then he turns around and he says, okay, I just need to run it through my legislative process. But two days later, he's out in the media saying, I reject. What it tells you is you have somebody who, number one, you're giving hundreds of billions of dollars to who you can't trust, who's stabbing you in the back.
who is not being honorable with their words. So what do you expect from the president? So when you have somebody that you're negotiating with, and effectively you have a deal, and then they're basically flipping on you. How do you create accountability? You do it publicly I mean reality
You know, in J.D. Vance's interview yesterday with Sean Hannity was telling, because at one point J.D. Vance says, look, I was trying to get it back on track. I was trying to, like, calm it down because I thought we should do this in private. And President Trump says, no, no, let's do it right here. So President Trump consciously understood what was happening.
And he just let it happen. He let Zelensky have needling and caprice, because what Zelensky was trying to do, he didn't get what he wanted. He wanted this minerals deal, that's fine, whatever. Does he really want to pay back the U.S.? I don't think so. But he wanted military, U.S. military presence. That's really what he wanted. Nobody's saying that part out loud. But it's pretty obvious. When he's talking about security guarantees.
That's what he's saying. And he wasn't happy with the fact. He wants that up front, no questions asked. You give me that before I give you anything. And I'm sorry, you're just not in that position. I've got to say, I mean. You're just not in that position. If that's going to be his position, he should kind of brush up on his Russian maybe. I'm just saying.
Because the reality is, is this cannot go on forever. The European countries, no matter what they're saying to you publicly, they know they don't want to fund a perpetual war. Their citizens don't want to fund a perpetual war. and frankly this is a very dangerous conflict when you're dealing with a superpower and make no mistake about it Russia has the ability to spark off World War three
And that was not good for anybody. All right, we're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Looking at the Alaska total traffic cameras on this Tuesday morning. Traffic is now picking up around the Anchorage Bowl. Looks to be a bit of a slowdown currently on the inbound lanes to Glen Highway.
