The opinions expressed on this show This is the Morning Drive on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Good morning. It is Thursday. February 6th. Current time is 6.06 a.m. Good morning, Daryl. Let's see if it works. Good morning, Amy. Oh, I actually hear you. I know. Look at that. That's amazing. Just talk again. Say something. How is your...

How was your drive over this morning? What are your attempts in Anchorage? So we're looking at 6 degrees here in Anchorage, 6 to 10 degrees around town. Drive was actually really good. I didn't have any problems. Roads were in good shape. Sky was beautiful looking.

I can't think of anything else to say. It was that nondescript. That's perfect. I was just going to let you know that your microphone volume in my ear is a lot lower than it typically is. Oh, really? There we go. How about there? Is that a little bit better? It's not safe, but...

That's all right. I just want to let you know, we are dealing with some microphone issues yesterday. So, you know, I'm just excited that I can hear Darrell's voice this morning. Because for me, it's way more exciting on the show when he can be part of the conversation and he just...

doesn't have to listen to me pontificate for two hours, which I am very capable of doing, by the way. I was going to say, I thought you did great with that personally. And me, you didn't want me talking yesterday as frustrated and angry as I would. I probably would have had to bleep myself a couple of times.

Oh, poor Daryl. You know, here's the thing. You know, I always laugh because in radio, you try to make it as smooth and seamless as you can, but it is entertaining when things are going awry because that's when you can tell if somebody could just flow with it. You know, not everybody can do that, and Daryl is really good at doing that. But he was frantic, like, on the phone with IT. Not frantic. He was actually very calm. But he was doing six things at once yesterday.

Here I'm just like, all right, let me just talk about my news stories. It was hard yesterday, but what people don't understand is because of the communication factor. with our teams and everything else when i'm trying to talk to her on teams if she can't hear me through the mic in in her back side of her ear because i can talk to her and you guys can't hear me while she's on the air so yeah it's hard to schedule things like that

Yeah, I know. And you love it when you come in in the morning and it's 5.30 in the morning. And thank goodness you have iHeartMediaTech people that are in a different time zone. That's the lifesaver. Yeah, exactly. But, you know, you just do what you got to do. There you go. There you go. But anyway, so it is pretty mild. Right now it's 8 degrees here in Palmer, too. So it's not terrible.

I've got to be honest with you, it's pretty mild. Yesterday wasn't bad. I feel like we can handle the rest of the winter. Kenai's checking in at 7.

Looks pretty decent for the rest. I got to be honest with you. Looks pretty decent. It says right here under the Anchorage alert, warning trend over the next three days, warming temperatures. Oh, warming temperatures. I don't know why that's... like an alert warming trend over the next three days but i love it it's saying today a high is going to be 16 in anchorage friday 18 but as i look at sunday and monday we're talking 24 27.

Well, we're closing in on Rondi and Iditarod, so, you know, it's got to get rid of any residual amounts of snow have to be gone. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, exactly. I don't know what they're going to do this year about that. There's just not that much snow, but I guess we'll find out.

I guess we'll find out. We can try. We can always use a crushed ice on the roads, right? Or something. Something, yeah. All right. Well, let's see here. Let's get into our public announcements for today. There's not a ton of them, but I will zip through them. We'll start with the Matu Borough. There is a plotting board meeting today at 1 o'clock in the Mat-Su. That's going to be at the Assembly Chambers, 350 East Dahlia Avenue in Palmer.

There's a Historical Preservation Commission meeting at 6 p.m. It's going to be at the Borough Conference Room. And they also have a Teams link. So if you want to attend. Virtually you can do that. All you have to do is go to matsugov.us and then look at the calendar, click on the meeting you're interested in, and like I said, for the Historic Preservation Commission, you'll be able to see the Teams link there.

Also tonight at 7 p.m., the Susitna Community Council has a meeting at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center, which is located at 16463 East Helena. If you want more information, again, just go to the Matsu's website, matsugov.us. That really does it for the meetings in the Matsu. I don't see anything for today. in Palmer or Wasilla. Moving on to the Municipality of Anchorage for today, February 6th, I have to keep reminding myself

you know, what this ACCEE is. It's the child care one, right? Yes, that is the child care one. The AC Fund board meeting is happening in person today at 1015 City Hall. suite 830 which is the mayor's conference room by the way they also have a team's meeting id so if you want to attend virtually you can do that so that's the anchorage child care

Maybe early education? That is it. Yep, yep, yep. Oh, did I get it? I do believe you did. Because they're early educators. That's where they're going to pay out. I've got to be honest with you. Some days I'm so good and I haven't even had coffee yet.

And just as an FYI for all of you out there who are interested in things like this, this meeting might be an interesting one to go to because when I was looking at their budget last year and the start of this year, that $5 million is going to be spent on... Not child care for everyone else, but, you know, they're going to put it to the child care workers. Yeah, they're going to get most of that money. So just an FYI on how they're spending your tax money.

You know, as I look at money going out the door, I just shake my head most days. Well, also today in Anchorage at noon is the Municipal Airport Advisory Commission Board meeting. That's going to be at the Anchorage Fire Training Center, which is 1140 Airport Heights Road, Building C. It's going to be in Room 9. The AMAT's Technical Advisory Committee, remember that's the Municipal Transportation, you know, Advisory Transportation Committee.

That's 1 o'clock at the Community Development Center, which is located at 4700 Elmore Road in their training room. Rather. And that's it for boards and commissions. Remember, it's a little tricky finding boards and commissions in Anchorage. If you're looking, go to muni.org, click on the Mayor's tab, and then click on the Events tab, and that brings you to boards and commissions.

As far as the Anchorage Assembly goes for today the 6th, there's a Community and Economic Development Committee meeting at 9 a.m. And tomorrow they'll have a few. So I will tell you, they have a work session on their capital improvement program. They have a work session to You're going to love this one now. Work session tomorrow on discussion of Jacqueline Hendricks, Inspector General of the Columbus Civilian Police Review Board. What?

their hearts yeah so and then they have one hired in well i think The way I'm reading this is they're looking at other communities around the country that have civilian police review boards. Oh, Lord, okay. My guess is this chick's going to be talking to them about that. And then they have a work session tomorrow on an AO that they've introduced to reduce the cost of building multifamily residential developments.

In other words, removing restrictions and all these other things so we go back to being a wild, wild west city of building. Remember, I'm usually big on deregulation and less regulations, but I chuckle a little bit because they are so lucky. As we develop, they're very lucky. We haven't had any snow this year, number one. But number two, give it five years. Remember, they took all the parking requirements. Oh, yeah. That's kind of what I'm talking about. So as you build more and more.

This is to Daryl's point about the Wild West. As you build more and more multifamily, you know, big apartment buildings and no parking requirements. Where do people tend to park then? They tend to park on the street because the builders will build bigger and bigger buildings with less and less parking capacities in the parking lot. And then you put them on the street. And then when the winter comes, where are you going to put the snow?

As a prime example, over off of Tudor Road, there's that nice group of condos between the hotels right over by Golden Corral. Literally, they have giant signs. Do not park on the street. Do not stop. I mean, you can't even stop in the area. where their cars are on their own. I don't want to call it a driveway because it's a street leading into where all the condos are, but there's no room for anything.

What are you going to do? And then when an emergency vehicle gets to get in there? Yeah, not going to happen. Sorry. Yeah, yeah. Unless they put big old plows on the front of our... I just had a great idea. We install plows and blades on our fire trucks and ambulances. That would solve a big part of this snow problem. Yeah. Yeah.

I'm sure. She's almost joking in there. I'm sure. I'm sure. Well, there's a lot going on tomorrow in Anchorage, too. So if you want to check up on the Anchorage Assembly's calendar, just go to muni.org and click on Assembly. But Daryl is full of all kinds of... All kinds of ideas today. So when in doubt, just ask Daryl. I had yesterday where I was all bottled up, so, you know. All right. All right. So now let's move down to the Kenai Peninsula borough.

Hang on. I'm looking. Ready, set, go. Upcoming community events. For some reason, their calendar isn't loading on my screen today, so I'm just going to skip them. Sorry about that. But if you want to deal with that, all you have to do is go to kpb.us. You'll be able to see their calendar, but for some reason it's not loading on my screen today.

But we can move over to the city of Kenai. The city of Kenai has a Parks and Rec Commission meeting tonight at 6 p.m. If you want more information on that, including their agenda, just go to Kenai.city, and then you'll see their calendar. Just click on it, and it will give you more information. As far as the city of Soldatna goes for today, there's nothing on the calendar for today, so we'll skip them.

City of Homer today for the 6th doesn't have anything on their calendar as well. The next thing they have is a special city council meeting on the 10th. So other than that, there's not a lot going on in Homer until the 10th. But if you want to track their calendar, just go to cityofhomer-ak.gov. That really does it for our community announcements for this morning. We're going to go ahead and take our first break of the morning. Then when we come back,

We're going to hit the headlines of the day, and there are a ton of news stories. I can't even believe it. Like, the show prep that I sent Daryl today is enough for three shows. So we're just going to see where it goes. We'll be right back. Amy Demboski, 6 to 8, mornings on NewsRadio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back, Current Time 622. Well, Daryl's favorite topic, the casino in Eklutna. Oh, yeah. I cheered about that one.

You know, I got to tell you, good on the state. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back. Current time, 622. Well, Daryl's favorite topic, the casino in Eklutna. Oh, yeah. I cheered about that one. You know, I got to tell you, good on the stage. Shout to Amy now. 907-522-0650. That's 907-522-0650. It's Amy Demfoski on NewsRadio 650.

Welcome back. Current time is 640 on this Thursday morning. I'm so glad. Oh, look at that. We're rocking out. A little bit of extra beat there for you. Loving it. Loving it. Well, you know, I'm so glad that the legislature is in session because it gives us something local to talk about. So we started with a clue. Now I'm going to go to the next article. This is an article from the ADN. Now the governor has a proposal.

And I think the devil's in the details here. I'm not sure I'm with you on this one, Governor. I'm not sure. We'll see. Governor Dunleavy proposes new limits on Alaskans' ability to record conversations. A new proposal from the governor would require all sides of a conversation to consent before that conversation could be legally recorded.

Senate Bill 85 was filed yesterday in the Alaska Senate and referred to the Senate Labor and Commerce Committee. No hearings have yet been scheduled. If passed by the legislature and signed into law, the bill would make it more difficult for Alaskans to legally record a conversation. Currently, Alaska is among three dozen states that have a one-party consent law. Only one person involved in a conversation needs to know about the recording before it's allowed.

So, you know, this is interesting to me because my initial thought, Daryl, was think about all the Karens in the grocery store or think about, you know, a conversation that happens. Like, okay, I go back to this. When I was running for mayor, I had this crazy wackadoo that was going around, and he was slashing all my campaign signs, like cutting my face out of the signs and all that kind of stuff.

I mean, and we're talking these big 4x8s back in the day, I mean, they're like $250 a piece. And once he hit, he hit about 17 of them. I mean, it was ridiculous. It was a lot. Let's put it that way. Now we had video of some of them where we could see him. doing it and other signs you know there was no video but the likelihood it was the same person but I had enough of it and finally I only had maybe three signs left that hadn't been damaged yet so I just went parked my car and I waited

I just waited. Sure enough, here he comes. Pulls right up. What does he do? Pulls out a box cutter, goes to cut my sign, and I jump out of my car and I... It may not have been the smartest one, but I'll just tell you, I bring a gun to a knife fight, so I wasn't really worried about it.

But I jump out and I confront the guy, but what I whipped out was my phone, and I immediately started recording the conversation. Now, I didn't have his permission to record the conversation, but I'm a responsible gun owner, and I don't want somebody to say that I threat. them or I did this look I there's a guy with a box cutter that's cutting up my signs this could easily get out of hand so I recorded the entire conversation

You know, I mean, this happens in car accidents, right, where people, they engage with somebody, they turn on a recording device. People have recording devices in their cars. I mean, that's why I say the devil's in the details with this one. I don't know to what level of consent is required. Are we talking about just on the telephone? Are we talking in a room? Look, the governor is very sensitive about people recording him.

Like, when I worked for the governor, I don't know if this is still the rule, but when I worked for the governor, like, literally there was going to be no Omarosa moment.

meaning no recording the governor. You weren't allowed to take your phone in the room with him. If you had an iWatch, you had to take your iWatch off. And I think it more had to do with him being... educator and him wanting to have people's full attention during the meeting but there would be no recording of the governor without the governor knowing like you didn't bring your phones and like they literally Janice had

She literally had a basket where commissioners, everybody, would drop their phone. They would put their phone. I mean, to me, I just left my phone on my desk. But people would, you know, give her the phone when they walked in the governor's office. And when they came out, they got their phone back or their iWatch or whatever. They'd make this gift.

Yeah, exactly. But the governor went playing. And that's why I laughed, because I think some of it was more the fact that he was an educator and he didn't want people distracted by their phones. If he's going to meet with you, I'd like... He's meeting with you. So I think about this, and it's interesting to me because I think with the way that technology has evolved,

I think people record people all the time without the other party knowing they're being recorded. Constantly. If somebody is walking around my property, I'm going to whip out my phone and I'm going to – well, actually, if you're walking around my property, you're already on camera. I'm just laying out there.

is everybody's got to agree to the recording. All you businesses that record me when I walk onto your premises or am in your parking lot, I would think that would make that illegal again, would it not? I mean, you're recording me. That's why I say it says SB 85 would exempt police officers from the all parties restriction. Because remember, police officers wear body cams, right?

So whenever you engage, a lot of them do. Troopers do. APD does. A lot of them do now. So we'll see what happens. This was brought up in Arizona, and the Arizona legislature did not pass it. this becomes more complicated in this day and age because again look if i roll up on the traffic accident and there's three people in a car and i'm by myself i'm going to record it

Frankly, I don't care what the state says. I'm recording it because, number one, it's for my own safety. Number two, what happens if they're like, oh, no, she ran a stop stop. This happened to me when I was a kid. You know, I was hit by a drunk driver, and he gets out of the car, and, you know, I get his information and all this kind of stuff, and he is the one who was wrong. It wasn't me.

And what happens the next day when I follow up, you know, because we exchanged information and stuff, they switched drivers. They said, oh, no, he wasn't driving. This other person was driving. And then they turn around and they said, I ran a stop sign. There wasn't even a stop sign for me to run. But my point in this was, I mean, obviously I was a stupid kid. I should have just called the police right there because obviously he would have.

he would have been arrested. And it turns out he was driving on a suspended license for multiple DUIs. Like, I learned my lesson as a kid that you just don't, like, when you're in that situation, you just call the police, right? But I exchanged information. I got his insurance card. Like, I thought I was doing everything right.

Obviously, I did not. But my point is, this day and age, there's a lot of reasons why somebody would record somebody. Are we talking about just in a private setting, like you're in an office meeting with somebody? Or are we talking about just over the phone? public place do you also need permission to to record some you know what i mean there's just a lot of questions a lot of questions and so you know

I would approach this bill with some skepticism and say, you don't have my vote yet, Governor. You've got to make the case for me. What are the parameters on this? How does this impact dash cams?

your property what about you know what if I'm at a diner somebody starts acting a fool everybody nowadays whips out their phone and starts recording what if I'm on an airplane right and somebody starts acting a fool and I and I start recording the conversation what if the guy that is sitting next to me on an airplane freaking out because I'm wearing a Trump shirt. Can I not record that conversation now because I don't have his permission?

Yeah, they wouldn't give you permission. And so my point is, like, it's going to become a he said, she said moment. The phone now is evidence. It is an opportunity for somebody to say, look, I didn't threaten this guy. I didn't say anything. I was just sitting there, and he was screaming at me because I was wearing a Trump shirt. I mean, we've all.

seen these experience these things happen in social media right over the past few years we've seen these different types of examples happen so that's why I'm saying the culture has changed and now the governor saying what's a privacy issue Well, now I'm thinking from my perspective it's a self-preservation issue.

So now you're limiting my ability to preserve, to document what is actually happening so I can protect myself so somebody doesn't accuse me of something I didn't do. Right? So I don't know. I've got to be honest with you. On this one, I don't know that I agree with the governor on this one. Like I said, when I started this segment, the devil is in the details on this one. Totally in the details on this one. Because what are the limitations on that second party having to consent? I don't know.

I don't know. So it will be interesting to see what happens to the legislature on this one. I have way more questions. Like I said, don't be a lemming. All you legislators that are listening. and those that are now blowing up my phone, do not be a lemming. Ask good questions. Make sure the cure isn't worse than the crime, okay? Ask good questions because there's a lot of situations in which it is self-preservation when somebody is recording a conversation.

especially when we're talking about accidents, we're talking someplace in the public. There's a lot of reasons why I think it makes sense for people to be able to record conversations. All right.

That's all we have for that segment. We're going to go ahead and take a quick... Otherwise, more of the same to be expected. Sunshine, tempters warming into the teens and the 20s with quiet weather persisting. Slow warming taking hold into the weekend. For Alaska's weather source, I'm meteorologist Erin Morrison. Now back to the boss, Amy Demboski. Call 907-522-0650 and be a part of the show on NewsRadio 650, KENI.

Welcome back. Current time, 654. I'm going to go to the phones, and Jeremy is with us. Good morning, sir. Good morning, Amy. Good to hear your voice again. Thank you. What's on your mind this morning? Well, hey, if they're making laws on cameras and all this, like the generation is already... Let them behind because you can literally live stream everywhere you go, especially if you have StreamYard. and stuff like that. So any laws on that are, you know...

You know, no one's going to go by those laws. Yeah, it's kind of like trying to unring a bell. I think in this generation, like I gave like multiple examples of times when somebody, it would be... reasonable for them to whip out their phone and start recording, right? Something is happening, you know, whether it's on a plane, whether it's in a restaurant, whether it's whatever something is happening where somebody is like, I got to document this, you know.

In my example I gave, you know, it's like there's three people in this car that hits me, and I'm by myself, and now what? You know? Yeah. And this was before the age of cell phones, so it's not like I had a cell phone. Yeah, I remember that video. I think you were on live that day. Yeah, that was the one.

Yep, well, when that happened and I intercepted that guy that was cutting my sign, yeah, yeah, I pulled out my phone instead of my gun because I wasn't in fear for my life. I mean, maybe I should have been because he had. a box cutter and he was actively going after it. That's what I say. Whenever somebody has an idea... I think the idea has to be well vetted, and that's the legislature's job, to really well vet these things. And I hope the legislature takes it to account.

Sorry, go ahead. Jeremy, we're just hitting our break. Go ahead. They should be getting rid of these illegal immigrants to come up here on the ferry. That's why the FBI is in Anchorage. Oh, they're going after it. There's no doubt. Jeremy, thank you so much for your call this morning. I'm hitting my hard break, so I've got to take a quick break. Thank you so much for your call. We'll be right back.

It's always fun hearing everybody's different perspectives. I mean, there's a flair for everybody, you know. You have me and Mike that are local, so we talk a lot about Alaska issues. And for me, it's a great place for Alaskans to come together and be able to talk about the issues that are not only...

Local, but national, and you don't have to stay in queue and try to get into those national queues. But look, I love listening to Clay and Buck. I think they're very interesting fellows. And I have grown an affinity for Jesse Kelly. He was not my flavor in the beginning. I can take him in doses, but he is interesting. He is an interesting guy.

I got to agree with you. In the beginning, I really didn't like Jesse Kelly. I didn't like certain things about his attitude. But then he's got certain features that I think are... awesome on his show. Medal of Honor Monday. I love that. I used to read those. I actually have read, I haven't read them all, but there's a large book that's put out by the United States government.

And that is some really good reading. I mean, really good reading on the heroics of these guys. And then just a lot of his topics. Yeah, he hits it a lot of times. Again, no, in doses. And I want to say one thing out there. Mike and Amy. are like islands, okay? Because they are islands in the stream. That is what they are for all of you old people out there.

Nothing in between. You got me. You got me. I can't help it. I got to tell you, every now and then, Daryl, I'm tracking. I'm picking up what you're putting down. I got you. All right, well, if you'd like to call me and be part of the show, 522-0650. You know, I had a nice conversation with one of my friends that's in the know during the break.

They let me know that the rule that the governor had during his first session is no longer in place. So you can actually meet with the governor now and keep your phone. In your eyewatch. There you go. So where that rule came from. You know, we'll leave that up to somebody. It was probably instituted by somebody, but we'll see. But anyway, so now you can keep your iWatch in your phone, apparently. You've got to remember, though, also in his first...

first go-around, literally within a day of being in office, they slapped him with lawsuits and stuff like that, or recalls. Excuse me, it was recalls. That's what it was. And so I can see where he was a little bit twitchy about things. Well, he also had a different chief of staff. Good point, good point. So my guess is Suckerman probably had some sway in that decision, my guess. I will tell you, the winning continues going on and on and watching what is happening on the federal level.

I will tell you, I watched Trump where he was signing an executive order to protect women's sports. Trump has revealed, according to Breitbart, he's directed Kristi Noem to protect women's sports and deny visas of transgender athletes. What are we talking about? We're really talking about targeting the 2028 Olympics. That's really what we're talking about, right?

President Donald Trump revealed that he directed Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to deny any and all visa applications of transgender athletes attempting to enter the U.S. The announcement from the Trump administration came as he was set to sign an executive order protecting women's sports from transgender athletes.

Before the signing, Trump spoke about the 2028 Summer Olympics and how his administration would not stand by and watch men beat and batter female athletes. Look, he ain't playing. This is going to trigger all kinds of people on the left. Trigger all kinds of people on the left. I mean, what are you coming down to? Like, the insanity has got to stop.

when it comes to all this woke nonsense. And that's what it is. It's nonsense. They're trying to create a situation in which men are women. It is impossible for a man to become a woman and vice versa. Impossible. And the day of pretending it can happen is over. Look, if you want to be a dude in a dress, be a dude in a dress.

Nobody really cares. Be a dude in a dress. Now, there's a lot of people that care, and I will tell you, this is not a gay or straight or, you know, whatever in between issue. Because there's a lot of people out there on both sides of these issues, but there's a lot of people out there that don't believe it's appropriate to have a drag show in front of children, right?

And that's not a gay or straight issue in my opinion. It is just a common sense issue. And I think a lot of Americans are getting to the point where like, okay, the level of crazy, like we've got to like tap it down. It's a little much. And a lot of these rights and rules, I think part of where my issue comes in is that I just looked it up to get me a decent number. The percentage of, quote, and I've got air quotes here, trans people.

in america is like 1.4 percent and i think that's high honestly i thought it was less than one so did i i thought it was like in the point six percent um now this is like i said you've got to look at some of these graphs and how much they are with a little bit of a side eye on them because a lot of these people that put them out are trying to promote them. But that is such a small fraction of people that were then going to literally disadvantage 50% of the population.

for less than 1% of the population. And along the lines, there was a woman the other day. So another thing that happened in the American thing that a lot of people don't know about is one of Trump's first orders about being the male and female has affected passports. There is no longer an X on U.S. passports. You are either male or female by your birth. And there was a trans person who was out there who was just so heartbroken that their passport says they're male.

And I mean, when you look at this person, I wouldn't have known except for the little Adam's apple. Other than that, it was like. They're kind of pretty, you know. Well, there are some people that are very convincing. And, again, like, again, you do YouTube. It doesn't make them a woman, though. It doesn't make them a woman. Exactly. That's my whole point. And, you know, I think about this. Like, when.

They don't have this requirement, I don't believe anymore. But when I was in high school, like, you were required to pass a swimming test to graduate, right? Oh, that's a good idea. And so we took a semester or a quarter, I can't remember what it was, of swimming. at Shugyak High School. And, like, I liked swimming, so I had no problem. Like, for a year, I was on the dive team. I had no problem, you know, swimming, getting in my swimsuit, whatever. It was fine.

But as a 14-year-old girl, even dressing in front of other other girls it was uncomfortable right it was just awkward it was uncomfortable um i can't imagine how i would have felt if there was a boy in the locker room

Like, that would have been a no-go for me. I don't care that he thinks he's a girl. Like, to me, I don't want to see your dingling, and I don't want you to see my jiggly bits either. Like, not happening. Like, I would have been very uncomfortable with that. I was uncomfortable with other girls. I mean, can you imagine putting a boy in that situation? And just an FYI for you, Amy, it's the same for young boys. For teenage boys, the 11 to 15-year-old ones.

You're terrified in that locker room. There is nothing worse than having to get undressed in front of all these other guys. To have a girl in there? Oh, yeah, no. Uh-uh. Would not have happened. It would have been, ah, yeah, I got to go over here. Yeah. Yeah, no. Well, I'm glad Trump's... You know, he's re-injecting a little sanity into the crazy... left woke ideology that has infected our federal government.

And, you know, it may not sound very nice when I say it that way, but that's how I feel. And, you know, that's where it is. And I know it's going to hurt people's feelings when you tell a boy he can't be a girl. The reality is, no matter what you do, you're never going to be a girl. You can look like a girl. You can have lots of surgeries to make yourself present like a girl. You can wear makeup. You can wear dresses. You can wear heels. But you're still not going to be a girl.

And that might hurt your feelings, but it's reality. And there's a point where you've got to suck it up and deal with reality. I mean, sorry. I was raised, so I'm a Gen Xer. I was raised, if something hurts, rub some dirt on it. Exactly. So if your feelings are hurt, rub some dirt on your feelings.

Go for it. Exactly, exactly. Well, the winning continues because this is a couple – this is a day old. This article is a day old, but I've been watching it. This is coming from Business Insider. The White House says more than 20,000 federal – workers have taken the buyouts and they expect a spike in the coming days. According to this article,

The Trump administration officials say more than 20,000 federal workers have accepted the buyouts. That's still well below the White House's goal of 5% to 10% of the federal workforce. One official told Business Insider they're expecting a spike in the numbers before the February 6th deadline, which is obviously today.

After Axios reported on Tuesday that roughly 20,000 had accepted the offer, the White House spokesman disputed the report, telling Business Insider the actual figure was higher than was provided. So we'll see. The Office of Personnel Management would provide an update, they said, at the appropriate time. According to the Office of Personnel Management, they said the 20,000 figure isn't current.

but they didn't say what it is. So we'll see what happens. Today being the deadline, we'll see what happens. But again, I mean, think about this. If you're kind of close to retirement or you have the ability to get a different job doing something else, To be able to be paid at your current salary through September.

and not have to work it, I mean, that's a pretty sweet deal right there. That's beyond a sweet deal. Oh, my God. And the crazy part about this is, think about this, if it is cheaper for the federal government to actually pay thousands and thousands and thousands,

thousands of workers to do that versus having them show up and keeping them on the payroll? I mean, I've got to tell you, I feel like we're a little overstaffed, but, you know, they're on to something here. We will see what it says, but, you know, the White House... saying they're wanting between 5% and 10% of the federal employees to take it, with more than 2 million Americans that are employed by the federal government. I mean, that would be about 200,000 people. That's a lot.

The annual attrition rate, that's the people that retire and leave or die or whatever, is typically, they say, about 6%. That's right within the buyout goals for the Fed. So we'll see what happens. DOGE is active at it, but they're hitting this from multiple fronts. And again, I think time will tell. We haven't even hit the first month yet. that Trump has been in office. He's been in office like two and a half weeks, three weeks maybe. I mean, this is crazy. He was sworn in on January 20th.

And all that they have accomplished in the last couple of weeks is just unbelievable. So it's fascinating to watch. All right, let's go ahead and take another quick break. If you'd like to call in and be part of the conversation, 522-0650.

Good morning. If you're just waking up, current time is 722. We are well on our way to getting Thursday off to a good start. I'm going to go straight to the phones, and Bruce is with us. Good morning, sir. Hey, morning, Amy. Morning, Daryl. Hey, before I get to what I'm talking about, I've got a quick joke for you. I love it. Hit me with it. All right.

A husband, wife, a mother-in-law go to the Holy Land to do a nice visit, and it was beautiful. It was a great trip, except, unfortunately, the mother-in-law died, right? So they go see the undertaker and talk to him. He says, hey, I can take care of this.

We can bury her here in the Holy Land for $150. It's beautiful. You can come visit. Or if you ship her back, it's $5,000. So the husband says, nah, ship her back. And the undertaker looks at him. He's like, that doesn't make any sense. Why don't you bury her here? It's beautiful. He said, well, I thought about it, and about 2,000 years ago, they buried a guy, and he rose three days later, and I can't take the chance. That's hilarious. That's a good one.

I can't wait to tell my mother-in-law that joke. That's fantastic. All right, you gave me one. Yeah, thanks. Yeah, while I'm calling in today, we've been seeing a lot what's going on in D.C., and he's really flooding his own, President Trump. And what I can't wrap my head around, maybe he can help me out. All the things that he's doing with the audit and these executive orders with no men in sports, women's girls sports, they're all common sense.

And these Democrats are just simply going back to their old playbook, repeating the same lines they've been repeating for the last 10 or 15 years, when he's actually doing the things that they've advocated for. Like they want it done, but because Trump's doing it, they're losing their freaking minds. Exactly, exactly. Well, and I will say what Trump is doing is exactly what he told everybody he was going to do, and that's why he got elected. You know, I mean, look, in Chicago.

When Chicagoans are asking for ICE to come in and take out these illegals and Trump is doing it, and they start pushing back against it, they're pushing it back against what their own residents want. You think they want their city overrun with illegal immigrants that are taking their resources? No, they don't.

And it's entertaining watching the meltdown. But you know why the meltdown is really happening is, again, orange man bad. Anything Trump does, even if it's something they support, they're going to come out in opposition to because they can't. give them a win, right? I mean, we know that. But the other thing you're seeing now, where they're really putting all their chips, is going after Doge.

going after what Elon Musk and that team is actually exposing, which is their spending. It's their honeypot. I have an article up about the NGOs. There's NGOs now, and a lot of them are relating to my migrant services and their Catholic organizations that are now shutting down and shelters are shutting down where we've seen millions of dollars funneled to them over the last couple of years, a lot of that money is coming from where? USAID.

It's coming from programs within those things. And now whatever was being diverted from FEMA. to go to immigrant services. You know, as soon as Trump took over, that ended. And so the money, as it dries up, their NGOs and all their buddies that were making tons of money off this, all of a sudden that dries up.

meltdown when two things happen. You take their money or you take their power. And Trump is doing both. And two things real quick. The story that came out about political being basically floated by USA. That's absolutely... How that's not the largest story out here is just ridiculous. But when you talk about the Chicago stuff, I watch those too, and they're great. It's just that Americans, especially the middle class,

We keep getting squeezed and squeezed and squeezed. And it's because our government keeps putting the burden of money on taxpayers. And then you see this Doge audit. You see, like, the people of Chicago. These people that didn't put in on this that we're paying for, and it's a direct slap in the face, and Americans are tired of it. We're some of the most giving people. We are on the face of the planet. Americans are. Nobody comes close. When we see just waste and abuse and, like...

We're second tier to everybody else in the world from our elected officials. People are tired of it. They're done. Yeah, I think you're exactly right. I think you're 100% right. You know, speaking of the political, this was great. Caroline Levitt yesterday, she walks out to the podium in the press conference, what Bruce is talking about if people didn't see it.

is she walks out and she goes i know there's political reporters here you guys have a seat at the table just so you know your subsidy is ending today like it's over and what we're learning is through usaid um and other government agencies we have learned

the government and I've seen numbers ranging from 8 to 20 million so I don't know what the exact right number is she said from the podium 8 million but I've seen other reports that show it higher than that effectively your tax dollars were subsidizing Politico. This is how they did it. Did you know, like, a subscription to Politico's, like, you know, back end was, like, $10,000 to $75,000 a year? Are you kidding me? You can get a subscription to the Wall Street Journal for, like, $59, $69.

bucks a year why are we spending ten thousand dollars a subscription or seventy five thousand dollars a subscription for politico like what and this is through government accounts and all this kind of stuff it's it's insane i mean what it is i mean Let's be honest. It's not just a subsidy. It looks like money laundering to me. Money laundering and also paying for your good...

Good reporting on them. And you know who's actually screaming, like literally probably head whipped around and started screaming? Alice Rogoff. Just think, she could have kept the daily news going. Yeah, great topic. And just real quick, it's just a CIA slush fund, and I will say you almost made me spit out my coffee this morning when you said jiggly bits and jingling. That was hilarious.

All right, I'll get off here. You guys have a great day. You too, Bruce. Thanks for the call. I appreciate it. I've got to be honest with you. Like, you just never know what's going to come out of my mouth. I think that's why some people listen. It's because they're dressing. I'm not quite sure. Oh, my gosh. All right, let's go to Birchwood Bill. He's with us. Good morning, sir. Hey, good morning. I want to shift gears a little bit. It was also revealed that...

Trump wants to investigate all the FBI agents that were involved in the whole scam against him. Yeah, I'm not surprised. Then there's pushback. Oh, you know, you can't. Call them out by name and you can't prosecute them and da-da-da-da-da. Well, do what New York City does with all of their teachers that are on administrative leave and investigation. You make a report to an empty building. Sit them at a desk for eight hours a day, five days a week. Take them out of the operation.

Yep. Well, look, Bill, I think you're exactly right. And, look, I remember it was many years ago. There was a book that I read. It was called Race to the Top, and that was the first time. It was talking about the rise of charter schools. And that was the first time that I learned that in New York they actually had this basically room where teachers who are performing terribly, who have done things that you think they should be fired for, they basically just have to report to this building.

and they sit there all day, read the paper, and drink coffee, and they still get their salary, and they never end up getting fired. Unbelievable. Yeah, that was also covered. There was an excellent documentary called Waiting for Superman. I don't know if you've seen that, but if you haven't, look it up. It was a documentary by one of the Guggenheims, I believe, about 15 years ago. But it's just the failure of the public school system and the teachers' union.

Everything. So I encourage everyone to look that up, Waiting for Superman. You know, I've heard of it, but I never did watch it. So now you've given me homework for this weekend. So I'm writing it down. Yeah, the superintendent, I believe, of the Washington, D.C. school system went to the teachers union and said, if we can please fire the worst performing 20 percent of your teachers.

You can all get like a 15% raise and the union wouldn't support it. Wow. Wow. You know, and that's the problem is some people deserve to be fired. I mean, let's be honest. Oh, good point. Back to my basic comment was, if we can't fire these non-performing or corrupt federal employees, put them in a building where they can do no harm. Yeah, I think you're exactly right. Bill, thank you for weighing in this morning. I appreciate it. What about oversight of Guantanamo Bay?

Yeah, well, I wouldn't advocate for poor performers just going to Guantanamo. You're not putting them in Guantanamo. We need administrators there and other people. We need cooks, all these people. Exactly. Transfer them out there. You're working. You're being paid. Hey, look at that. There you go. There you go. All right. We're going to go ahead and take a quick break. We'll be right back.

Anchorage. A former school bus driver in Fairbanks is facing charges of child pornography. Police arrested 60-year-old Scott O'Toole in his home state of Texas this week on a charge of possession of child pornography. The FBI says O'Toole was in possession of child sexual abuse materials while working as a temporary

school bus driver in Fairbanks between November and December of last year. The superintendent of the Anchorage School District is calling the district's budget deficit a dire situation. Dr. Jarrett Bryant tells Alaska's news source that a lack of inflation adjustment for the base student allocation is hurting school districts' state.

The base student allocation has received just one increase of $30 since 2017. The Anchorage School District is trying to close a budget deficit of $100 million. And three artifacts that symbolize Alaska history are coming back home after being on display at a museum in New Mexico.

officials say the artifacts are artistic in nature and have connections to Kodiak. The artifacts had been at the Ralph T. Koh Center for the Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. That's the latest. I'm John Fink. What happens next happens here.

This report is sponsored by Alaska Center for Dermatology. Alaska Center for Dermatology, the premier choice for exceptional dermatology. Welcome back, current time, 739. Well, I have to tell you, during the break, I had to go back and watch the trailer for Waiting for Superman. And I did see it many years ago. I just couldn't remember it. I remember the name of it.

absolutely 100% right. Bill is 100% right. That is a great documentary. I'm still going to go back and re-watch it this weekend because it's been a long time. Like a long time since I came out. But, you know, look, it talks about the education system and really how poorly we're doing. And some of the fundamental breaks are, I would say, things that are not working, let's put it that way, in the education system. So look, it's an incredibly important issue. Why? Because at the end of the day,

What do we have? We are competing on a global market. And when it comes to art, whether it's technology, whether it comes to resource development, whatever it comes down to, As you start looking at these things, we are getting our butts whooped by nations like China.

and we have got to compete on that global level if we want to stay the dominant superpower in the world. So I think it's really important. I think that's a great recommendation, though. I'm going to go back, and I'm going to rewatch it, because it's been a long time. long long long time since I've seen it but

You know, as we were talking about different things that are happening, and Bruce brought it up that the left is losing their minds, right? They're losing their minds about a lot of things. Right now, they've been able to procedurally block Kash Patel's vote for director of the fbi and in committee so they're trying to pull him back in committee because what you know pam bondy has come in as the doj

She's been sworn in now as the head of the DOJ, the attorney general, which, of course, the FBI ultimately reports to the DOJ, right? So she's been sworn in, and she is opening up an investigation and looking at the political prosecutions of Donald Trump the left is going apoplectic why are they going apoplectic let's be honest we know why

A lot of these prosecutors had many, many, many, many, many meetings at the White House, right? You don't think there's any way Adam Schiff wasn't involved in something like this? in any of these conversations. You don't think Chuck Schumer knew exactly what was going on. You don't think Joe Biden had a hand in the political prosecution of Donald Trump. Of course he did. Of course he did.

And there's a reason Donald Trump was elected, because the American people saw through the strain, and they saw through it, and they said it's totally nonsense. Absolutely nonsense. Look, Democrats cannot control themselves when they're in power. Case in point. Case in point COVID, right? They go to totalitarian. Look at what the Anchorage Assembly did.

They go to lockdowns. They go to taking your control. They can't control themselves. Some people cannot have power because they can't control themselves. And when you start drying up their money, when you start... pulling the curtain back and exposing their dirty deeds, of course they're going to lose their ever-loving minds because it's going to be, look, when we start just talking about USAID,

Just the money that is funneled through these organizations to left-wing causes. Let's forget about the toppling of governments and the CIA slush fund for a minute. When we start talking about just the amount of money that is going into left-wing causes to perpetrate and to promulgate left-wing ideology, when you dry that up,

and they have to win in the war of ideas against an honest debate where people aren't getting this crap shoved down their throat, they're not going to win. The American people showed them that. You know, there's an article up right now, NGO shutter migrant shelters as releases end and money dries up. This is coming from Breitbart.

Non-government migrant shelters are feeling the impact of illegal entries continue to dwindle across the southwest border after President Trump's swift actions to control the border and carry out mass deportations. Non-profit organizations that received hundreds of...

millions of dollars from the Biden administration began to close their doors. Why? It's the Elon effect. The money is drying up because he's starting to tell people where all this money is going to. Now, this is not going to surprise you whatsoever. A report is coming out. This is, again, a Breitbart article. Hamas tortured executed members suspected to be gay. Not surprising. Like, who would have thought?

Radical Islamic terrorists murdering and torturing gay people. Who would have thought? Like, duh. New documents reportedly reveal that Hamas, the Palestinian terror organization formerly in control of Gaza, tortured and executed those of its members it suspected of homosexual activity, according to the New York Post.

The Post reported Hamas tortured and executed terrorists within its own ranks who allegedly had gay sex. Shocking documents show, as sources added, some male Israeli victims of the October 7th massacre were raped in captivity. Iranian proxy terror group had a running list of recruits that were found to have had failed Hamas's morality checks by having same-sex relations. Like, again, remember the whole signs we saw with idiots?

walking through streets in America saying gays for Palestine? Really? I mean, most of us were perplexed by it. Do you understand what these radicals actually believe? I'm not sure that they do. But again, so we look at some of their policies, and we look at some of the things that they support, and we're like, it doesn't even make sense. Well, now, as Elon is digging into the money, what is he finding in USAID?

What they're finding is billions of dollars went to fund terrorist groups. Billions of dollars. It says right here in another article, this is from the center square, of the billions of questioned USAID spending, millions went to fund terrorism. Of the billions of tax dollars spent by the agency for international development, USAID.

that are being questioned by the Trump administration. Millions went to fund terrorism. A multi-year investigation brought by the Justice Department and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia reveals the scope of how funds were used one is recent related case so this is coming from from a case filing right so this is not just

Oh, Elon found it. This is actually a court case. The case represents one of the most significant diversions of USAID-funded humanitarian aid that USAID OIG has investigated. Muhammad Al-Hafan. who was charged with illegally diverting more than $9 million of taxpayer money through the USAID to armed combatant groups, including, it's called Al-Nusra Front, A&F, a designated foreign

terrorist group. It's affiliated with al-Qaeda in Iraq. According to the indictment, al-Hafan led the non-government organization, that's what we call an NGO, in Syria, managing 160 employees. Since Syria's silver war began in 2011 through 2020, U.S. taxpayer funded more than $12 billion to Syria intended for food and medical supplies that was supposed to be administered by the U.N.

But it appears that Al-Hafn led and received over $122 million over a three-year period diverting food kits meant for refugees. Are we surprised? Are any of us surprised? Not really. Absolutely not. Absolutely not. And this is coming from a court filing. So this isn't just Elon finding it, but my point is this. Some of the stuff that they've already pointed out, you're going to see.

a ton more of it, and this is why the left is going apoplectic. You know, it's not just about their NGOs and their little agenda-driven nonsense that the money's drying up to. But now all of a sudden they're peeling back the curtain and they're saying, where has the money spent? And that's what they're losing their mind over because the left doesn't want you to know. These people that are losing their mind.

They don't want you to know how they spent your money. I mean, that's the reality. Because then you're going to start asking questions. Yep. So I have a thought for you, Amy. What is the smell of a swamp draining? Well, I don't know how to answer that, Daryl. I was thinking musky.

I was going to say, it smells like winning. That's what it smells like. It's a musky smell. Musk is setting in out there. A little bit of a bad pun. And just to show you how bad the liberals are, how crazy they are. You know, they want to impeach. Donald Trump for what? For dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done. Like dastardly deeds. Yeah. Well, this is what cracks me up. They're losing their ever-loving mind. You can see them actually having these little, I mean...

Chuck Schumer looks like an idiot when he's out in front of these buildings. And he's like, you know, I don't even remember what he's chanting, but he's like, they're screaming and they're chanting. They look ridiculous. All right, Grandpa, like, go sit down enough already.

And they're screaming and they're yelling, and some of them are calling for violence. These are elected officials in Congress. It is all a show. It is all ridiculous. They're losing their ever-loving mind because the American people deserve to know how the... American people's money is spent. And they don't want you to know.

right they don't want the money to dry up because if the money dries up their their political power and influence dries up so that's why they're freaking out right now that's that's what it's all about and yes we had a member of congress yesterday daryl just played the clip who's already already calling. He's saying he's going to file articles of impeachment against Trump for dastardly deeds. Oh, okay. Okay. All right. We're going to go ahead and take a quick break. We'll be right back.

Well, I've got to tell you, the winning feels good. You know, as you see the left melting down, what are they melting down to protect? Are they melting down to protect the millions and millions of dollars that are being sent to organizations like Politico? Why are we funding media?

Like, that doesn't make any sense to me. Breitbart has another article up. Trump freezes millions in USAID funds for foreign media.

triggering globalist outrage. That's right, American taxpayers are no longer subsidizing foreign media once funded by the United States, prompting left-wing concerns over the potential impact on global... journalism and democracy Donald Trump put a 90-day hold on USAID's foreign aid this week, which subsequently cut $268 million from media outlets in more than 30 countries, according to the agency's 2025 foreign aid budget report.

USAID's 2023 fact sheet, taken offline, which goes back, supported 6,200 journalists, 707 news outlets, 279 media sectors. civil society organization according to the Columbia Journalism Review. Again, what are we spending all of our money on for foreign journalists?

Literally, so they talked good about the people they wanted to talk good about. Well, exactly. Exactly. I mean, it's just what a waste of money. When we think about the people in North Carolina that actually got hit with a natural disaster that need help building. California who lost everything due to a fire. Or let's say the border. You know, let's keep some gang members from Venezuela out of the U.S. How about this? How about we not support the 30,000 plus Chinese immigrants?

Chinese illegal aliens that came across the border. I mean, I think there's more things. How is it for the homeless? Food for the people? There's a lot better things we could spend our money on. And Donald Trump is over target. That's why these people are losing their ever-loving minds. It's a thing of beauty. Winning. I never get tired of winning. Love it. All right, that does it for Daryl and I today. We will be back with you tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. Until then, stay safe. God bless.
