The opinions expressed on this show are those of the host and not of iHeartMedia or its employees. Thank you for listening to NewsRadio 650 K&I. Amy Demboski, the show starts now. Our lines are open at 907-522-0650. This is The Morning Drive on NewsRadio 650, KENI. Good morning! It is Wednesday, hump day! We have finally made it to midweek. You know, the favorite day. Why? Because once you get up, you know...

I got to tell you, the week's pretty much over. I'm laughing at Daryl because Daryl's having mic issues. His mic doesn't work. So every time he talks, it sounds like a, or he tries to talk, it sounds like a train whistle. And I have to tell you, probably the worst thing in the world for Mr. Daryl Dean is for him not to be able to talk.

I have to tell you, it's kind of entertaining a little bit. It's stressful in radio when your stuff doesn't work. It's very stressful. But what can you do? What can you do? You've got to roll with it. And that's what we do, is we just roll with it. There you have it. uh yeah he's he's playing with all his tech so we're gonna let him play with his tech and i will go ahead and get into all of the announcements that are going on

We will get back to Mr. O'Deraldine in just a little bit. As I'm looking at weather across South Central, relatively mild, to be honest with you. Palmer's sitting at about 10 degrees. Anchorage is at 8. Kenai is at 8. We do have a dense fog advisory in the municipality of Anchorage. As I'm looking at the weather alert right here, visibility of one quarter mile or less dense fog in the Anchorage area until 11 a.m. this morning.

could have impacts of hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility. Patchy dense fog has been observed on the satellite along Turnagin Arm and surface observations. Also included that dense fog is drifting through portions of Anchorage. As of midnight, the thickest fog was located near Merrill Field in Jay Bear. Please plan ahead and be aware of visibility reductions if you are on the roadways this morning. So again, that dense fog advisory is for the municipality of Anchorage.

All right. As far as public meetings go, we're going to start with Matsu, as we typically do. Starting at 1 o'clock, the Talkeetna Water and Sewer Board of Supervisors has a meeting. That meeting, of course, is going to be held at the Talkeetna Public Library. It's publicly noticed here just starting at 1 o'clock.

have an end time but there you go another another board that is meeting is the water body setback advisory board this water body setback board has been very busy for about the past year This is going to be a big issue out here in the Mat-Su because it will deal with restrictions and limitations next to any water body, whether we're talking a river, a stream, or a lake where you can build.

All that kind of stuff. There's hundreds of properties in the mat, too. They're already in violation of this. It's been on the books for many years. But they're trying to sort through a way. a way to deal with it. So this is one that's going to impact anybody who has a house or cabin anywhere near a water body. So the water body setback advisory board is meeting at 5 o'clock tonight. They meet in the lower level conference room over there at the borough building.

in Palmer, which is of course located at 350 East Dahlia Avenue in Palmer. The Kinnick Fairview Community Council has their meeting tonight at 7pm Settlers Bay Lodge, which of course is located at 5801 South Kinnick. Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. My friend Bill Kendig is the president over there, so please if you pop in, say hi to Bill for me.

The Willow Area Community Organization has a meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Willow Community Center. If you need information on any of these meetings that I just announced or you want to track the borough's calendar, just go to matzugov.us. and you'll be able to find it there. As I'm looking at the calendar for Wasilla and Palmer, I don't see anything on their calendars today, but if you do want to track their calendars, for Wasilla, it's cityofwasilla.gov. For Palmer, it's palmerak.org.

As far as the Municipality of Anchorage goes for today, Wednesday, February 5th, the Section 6 in Campbell Airstrip Road Limited Road Service Area has a meeting today, 10 a.m., 9701 Middle Rock Drive. Then the On-Site Water and Wastewater Technical Review Board has their meeting today. They're meeting at the Planning Department 4700 Elmore in the conference room at 1130 this morning. Sorry, I just clicked out of my screen. This is where I need Jeopardy music playing.

Assembly, board and commission events. You've got to love technology. All right. The AWWU Board of Directors also has a meeting at noon today. That's going to be over there at the AWU headquarters. 3000 Arctic Boulevard. That, again, is at noon. The Anchorage Community Development Authority Board of Directors has their meeting today. This is a virtual meeting only. Actually, I'm fibbing. They also have an in-person location. It is virtual and in-person, 3 o'clock today.

If you want to go in person, it's going to be at the ACDA main conference room, which is located at 245 West 5th Avenue, Suite 122. If you need the link to attend virtually, go to muni.org, click on the Mayor's tab, and then click on. on the events tab. Also today, the hand commission has their monthly meeting. That's going to be at 4 p.m. at the Enbridge Health Department. I always forget the acronym. It's a health commission, effectively. But the health department is located at 825 L Street.

going to be on the fourth floor in conference room 423. And last but not least, for the Municipality of Anchorage, the Platting Board has their meeting tonight at 6.30. They meet in the LUSAC Library and Assembly Chambers. Again, if you need any more information on these boarding commissions for the Municipality of Anchorage, just go to muni.org.

on the Mayor's tab and then click on the Events tab and it brings you to Boards and Commissions. It's the easiest way to find it. As far as the Anchorage Assembly goes, they only have one meeting on their calendar today. 11 a.m. they have a Public Health and Safety Committee meeting. It's going to be in room 155 at City Hall. City Hall for Anchorage is, of course, located at 632 West 6th Avenue.

All right, then as we sneak on down to the Kenai Peninsula Borough, there is nothing on their calendar for today, but if you do want to track their calendar, just go to kpb.us. That stands for Kenai Peninsula Borough. And you'll be able to find their stuff there. As far as the city of Kenai goes, it's a little busy today. They have a board of adjustment meeting at 530 today. And then they have a city council meeting at 630.

6 p.m. today. That's their regular city council meeting. If you'd like more information on either of these meetings, just go to Kenai.city. And then when you get to their website, just click on their calendar, and you'll be able to get right in there. It's pretty straightforward. As far as the city of Saldana goes today, they do have a planning and zoning commission meeting today. I just got to pop up their agenda here.

Their meeting starts at 530. It's going to be in the council chambers in Saldotna. If you'd like to see their agenda or get more information, all you have to do is go to saldotna.org, and that will do it for them. As far as the city of Homer goes today, the only thing I see on their calendar is they have two things. One, at 5 p.m. tonight, they have canceled their city council joint work session.

with the Planning Commission Steering Committee, so that's canceled at 5. But the Planning Commission still has their regular meeting at 6.30 today. So if you want more information on that, just go to their website, cityofhomer-ak.gov. But again, the Planning Commission regular meeting tonight is on. It's happening. It's going to be at 630. If you want to attend in person, just go to the CALS Council Chamber. located at Homer City Hall, 491 East.

Pioneer Avenue. You can also attend via Zoom or phone. So again, if you need more information, I just recommend you go to their website, cityofhomer-ak.gov. That does it for our public announcements for this morning. We're going to go ahead and take our first break of the morning. As soon as we come back, we're going to go straight to your calls. So if you'd like to call in, 522-0650. Amy Demposki, 628 Mornings on NewsRadio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back.

time 619 on this gorgeous wednesday morning yes it's gorgeous why because it's one more day closer to saturday my favorite day i don't have to get up at 4 a.m All right, we're going to go straight to the phones, and Tim is with us. I'm going to attempt to pull Tim up here. Here we go. We got him. All right, good morning, Tim. Can you hear me, Tim? Good morning, Tim. All right, I'm going to go ahead and put Tim back on hold. My phone is not picking him up, Daryl.

So I went ahead and put Daryl's working feverishly to deal with some tech issues on his end. So we're going to let him go ahead and do that. We went ahead and put Tim back on hold. I'm going to go ahead and just jump into a couple stories, give Daryl a little bit of breathing room here. You know, you may have seen this, but we were talking yesterday about Doge and their actions. I have to tell you.

As you see what's happening right now, it is almost comical to watch the meltdown that is happening on the left. Why do I say that? Because you would think... When we have millions of foreigners pouring across our borders, fentanyl coming across our borders like we've never seen, thousands and thousands of Americans getting killed by this poisonous stuff from China.

As you start to see this happen, you would think, okay, as our citizens get displaced, as our citizens get victimized, as all of these things happen, you would think their representatives would be up in arms. But no. No. Nope, nope, that's not what's happening. Instead, what's happening is when we start to put away foreign aid and say, wait a second.

What are we spending our tax dollars on? That's when they lose their mind. When it's, oh, we're not going to send $1.5 million in DEI nonsense to Serbia. When we're not going to fund transgender comic books in Peru. When we say, we're not going to have a transgender opera in Colombia. When we stop that, that's when the left loses their mind in Congress. Hmm. I would think if it was me, I mean, I'm just throwing it out there. If it was me, I think I'd be a little more concerned with...

the safety and security of American citizens versus woke ideology and agenda driven nonsense in other countries. It is amazing to me when you see it. I there's this report that was out in in a Breitbart yesterday, and I just didn't get a chance to go to it, but Biden administration made improper payments totaling $236 billion in 2023. That's with a B.

$236 billion. According to this Breitbart article, the Biden administration wasted $236 billion in improper payments throughout 71 federal programs in 2023, according to the government. Government Accountability Office. The improper payments underscore President Donald Trump's vow to clean up the administrative state and his support of DOGE, that's the Department of Government Efficiency, which ironically isn't really a government department. Think of it more as like a border...

It's like an accounting strike team. Effectively, that's what we're looking at. We're effectively looking at an accounting strike team that is made up of Elon Musk and his little... his little geniuses and I will tell you this one of the things they're also losing their mind on Elon Musk and his team have gone into USAID which is the organization and all the liberals are losing their mind now because effectively it was a little, you know, woke ideology slush fund.

But they went in, and where he's getting flack from people, it cracks me up, because he's brought in a bunch of software tech type people. And they're saying between the ages of 19 and 25, but we're talking about software engineers and stuff. And you know part of the reason they're able to hone in so quickly? They're coming in and using AI to find a lot of this stuff.

what he's doing I mean Elon Musk the guy that is sending rockets into space better than NASA right the richest man on earth clearly this guy has the secret sauce. Like, he has something in his brain that works a little different than a lot of other people on Earth, and he's incredibly successful at what he does. He went in and bought Twitter.

cut 75% of the staff, and I would say it's more effective than it was before. So he clearly understands something about accountability, leadership, and making money, right? The way you make money... Number one is you have a product people want. But number two, you don't spend money frivolously. You're very efficient. He clearly gets this, right? So they go into USAID's headquarters. They basically lock the doors.

So, you know, they go in, but now there's reports out there. They're bringing in cots and beds, and people are literally, his team is literally sleeping in there, and they're just working, like, You have kids, and I say kids because they're in their 20s, but you have people, you know, software like geniuses that are coming in, and they could be working in Silicon Valley making...

you know, deep into the six figures. And here they're coming, and they're like, we'll work for free to help clean up the government. It's unbelievable, really, when you start to see it. All right, I'm going to try to pick up Tim again. We're going to go to the phones here. Tim, good morning.

Good morning, Amy and Daryl. How are you? Oh, we got you. We're good. We're good. What's on your mind this morning, sir? Well, I know you like jokes. I love them. I'm going to attempt this one, okay? Okay. Go for it. Yesterday, the first lady won a $90 million lawsuit against the hens on the view. Yes. So I heard the view is going to change her name from, or they're going to change her name to the rear view. That is a solid joke. I got to tell you, I suck.

I stink at coming up with them on my own. So I always have to, like, search for jokes. But when I find them, I write them down so I can regurgitate them. Because, you know, I'm not so great at coming up with them. But Daryl, he can come up with them on the cuff, too. So that was a good... That was a good one. Look, the era of accountability, I think, has come, whether we're talking about the government.

or whether we're talking about some of these fake media outlets that are just saying whatever they want, that is absolutely not true. And I think it's needed. I think the American people have so little trust in media these days because... So much of what they said has turned out to be false. And the ladies on The View, they can't now just willy-nilly say whatever they want that's just false and disparage somebody because they're going to be held accountable. So I love the joke.

The meaning behind the joke to me is even more important. Yeah. Hey, I got one more for you. All right. Go for it. OAC. OAC or AOC. AOC, yeah. AOC, yeah. She is a joke. Oh, my word. Did you see what she said about Elon Musk? Oh, my gosh. She's literally calling the richest man in the world who built it all himself. Dumb. And I'm like, okay, bartender from New York who can't even speak without using the word. Like, he's unintelligent. And as she's talking, I'm listening to her.

She can't even form a proper sentence. And I'm thinking, you're calling Elon Musk, the guy that's literally shooting rockets into space, an idiot. Really? I mean, I think she's a little off base. Yeah. Well, hey, I appreciate you. Well, thank you so much. Thanks for calling in.

All right, you too. All right, bye-bye. All right, number to call, 522-0650, if you'd like to call in. So as I was looking at this Breitbart article, just going back to this for a minute, when they talk about the Biden administration wasting...

$236 billion. The New York Times reported the Government Accountability Office's analysis said Mr. Musk hasn't told the administration officials that he thinks he could balance the budget if they eliminate the fraud payments leaving the system according to an official you know this is why I laugh about the New York Times because what they want to hear that's just whistling Daryl in my ear there you go

Daryl, poor Daryl. I'm telling you, nothing is more stressful than when your stuff doesn't work and you're on live radio. But the New York Times, as they are criticizing Elon Musk, what they're saying is basically, Well, he doesn't have a plan. And just because he finds all this fraud, waste, and abuse doesn't mean it's going to balance the budget. I mean, think about this. In 2023...

The GAO comes out and says the Biden administration wasted $236 billion with a B. I think that's a good starting point. I'm just going to throw it out there. I think that's a really good starting point. It's unbelievable to me when they say, oh, that's not really going to matter. Are you kidding me? Of course it's going to matter. Every penny matters. You know, when we're talking about USAID, I was listening to this last night on Fox.

Actually, no, it wasn't on Fox. It was on Clay and Buck's show yesterday. And it really just took me back. Because when we start talking about USAID and we start hearing about all the frivolous spending, I mean, we're talking... You know, $39,652 to host seminars in Edinburgh on gender and identity. Really? How about $425,000? To help an Indonesian coffee company become more climate and gender friendly. Are you kidding me? How about another $446,000 to promote the expansion of atheism in Nepal?

How about $32,000 for LGBTQ-centered comic book in Peru? That's the one I was talking about yesterday, too. I mean, we started looking at this fraud, waste, and abuse, and you think, this is insane. This is absolutely insane. So, yes, I think it's time that we have a little accountability and we have a little bit of oversight.

Because when you don't, all this money adds up. And yesterday, Clay and Buck were talking about it. I didn't realize the numbers. But when you think about USAID, the government agency. They had spent in 2024, I think the number was $44 billion. You know what the budget was for all of our Border Patrol? It was right around $7 billion. Think about that. We're wasting billions and billions of billions of dollars the number one recipient from USA aid last year was Ukraine

Think about the billions and billions of dollars. Just from that one department, $16 billion is what they're saying. That's more than double the budget of our entire Customs and Border Patrol. That's insane. So we're sending all this money to other countries, and we're not just talking about humanitarian aid. I don't know about you, but I don't know how DEI training in Serbia or...

transgender operas are going to forward the US's humanitarian efforts. Give me a break. These people are nuts. And as you start to look at the money that's going out the door. Again, we have to put our mask on before we can help anybody else. It's time for us to do a little bit.

cleanup here on the home front before we start shilling out billions and billions and billions of dollars for nonsense in foreign countries and I think that's exactly what Doge is doing and the left is absolutely going apoplectic they're losing their minds All right, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. If you'd like to call in, 522-0650. We'll be right back. Reach out to Amy now. 907-522-0650. That's 907-522-0650.

It's Amy Demboski on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Welcome back. Current time, 637 on this Wednesday hump day. It is... The middle of the week. We have pretty much made it. All right, I'm going to go straight to the phones. And Roland is with us. Good morning, sir. Good morning. You know, since we've got this taste of Doge, why don't we have it come to... Alaska, and have it go through our state, our local government, and especially the school district.

Yeah, I love it. I got to tell you. I got to tell you, in the school district, what you're going to see is a lot of funded but vacant positions, millions and millions of dollars worth. I had one source tell me earlier this week. that they believe there was $50 million in funded but unfilled positions in the Anchorage School District. Now, I haven't confirmed that, but that's what I was told. Well, the thing of it is also what we need to do is we need to get...

Somebody that's an actual leader in the school district position, you know, that actually knows, you know, get somebody that is actually turned around a school district. versus a guy that we've got to have training wheels on. I mean, the school district is such a joke that they have to bring in a guy that has to have training wheels because he doesn't have the proper thing. I don't understand. We're so far behind, and we bring a guy in that doesn't even know the job.

Well, and he wasn't qualified. He had to actually get, like, special clearance from the Department of Education to be able to actually, you know. be a superintendent he was like a teacher for like a couple of years and uh he comes up from houston but you know he fit the right demographic right he was a total dei hire let's be honest he was a liberal he was gay he's gay

So I'm told he's this young kid. I mean, I just, I look at it like, look, I don't care what you are. I just want to know you know how to do the job, and you're going to do a good job. And I just, I think he's over his head. I mean, that's my opinion. I think he's over his head. Well, that's what I mean with the training wheels. He just didn't have the qualifications. Plus, to me, what we need to do is we need to have somebody that's already turned around to school.

It made it better versus trying to go the same path because that is apparently what you're doing. Oh, yeah. Look at the difference between. You know, their previous superintendent, Dina Bishop, she was superintendent out here in the Mat-Su and did great things. Then she goes into Anchorage, and she effectively had a hostile school board the whole time she was working. And they go from her, and, you know, she's like, okay, that's fine.

That said, she's, you know, there's only so much a person can take. Now she's the commissioner of education at the state. But you go from somebody like her who spent decades in, you know, basically. in education, lots of experience. She had a great track record. Now, back to the boss, Amy Demboski. Call 907-522-0650 and be a part of the show on News Radio 650. KENI. Welcome back. Current time, 650.

We are working out the gremlins. It is happening. I think we're doing okay. Now I think we're back on the air. Daryl's shaking his head at me. He's looking good. We're looking good. All right. So, again, we're just going to work through it. Yeah, your mic does not work, Daryl. I think we just give it up for today. It just doesn't work. All right, so let's go back to it. I'm going to go back to Bob and Shugiak. Let's see if I can pick him up again. Good morning, sir.

Good morning. You did get me back. Yes, sir. Did everybody else have a period there where they were picking up coast-to-coast episodes? I think so. I think so, yeah. Yeah, so we're having issues with our satellite feed, and so Daryl's frantically on the phone with tech support. But I think that part worked out. So you are live on the air, my friend.

All right. Well, my comment was going to be about the black ops that our intel people have been doing for decades. You know, back in the 1958 period, they came out with a book. Not intel people, but a book came out called The Ugly American. And it was a big surprise at that point. And it was all about how the communists in foreign countries are outspending us.

on subversion and other bad deals in order to gain their way in those foreign, especially the backward countries. And so we were supposed to increase our brilliance and our money spending and stuff. to do our black ops in those other countries in order to subvert their governments. And that was 1958 when that book came out. And ever since, I've been told that when we do set up a black operation,

We cover the funding by naming it something ridiculous. And so when the congressman starts babbling on TV about it, the communists aren't over taking notes and saying, ah, they're going to bribe. bribe two guys in the Kremlin and the money is called bribe the two guys in the Kremlin money. They call it something different like new water pipes for the Eskimos or something like that.

So when we discuss all these stupid things, which I believe are really stupid things that they've been doing, some of those may be money spent on valid black ops. Oh, I believe it. I miss all the dialogue, you know, between the various guys in government and you guys on the news. talking about which aspect of this. Is it a black ops aspect or is it a stupidity, you know, magazines for kids and stuff like that. So just trying to keep track of how we're going at this.

to get really irate against Trump or somebody because he illuminates, you know, comic books for weirdos. Maybe the fact that that wasn't really comic books for weirdos in the first place. I think you're right. Yesterday I had this commentary, and I had a number of people text me after this show and said, oh, my gosh, you're right. Because as you start to look back at the money that has flowed specifically through USAID, that particular department,

What we see is we see social influence in Bolivia. You see operations in multiple different countries. And I said yesterday, I think what we have stumbled upon is the big honeypot. basically the slush fund of the CIA. I think that's a big part of what you're seeing is some of this money in these foreign countries. And I think that's kind of what you're talking about, too, is some of these different...

AlphabetSoup agencies that are operating and doing covert actions. I think this is where a lot of their money is coming from. And I think that's why you're seeing... I don't think you're just going to see Meltdown on the left. I think you're going to see the Intel community strike back in some way.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think you are definitely on to something with this one because a lot of the stuff that you see, the spending that Elon Musk and those folks are starting to uncover, it just doesn't make sense. And so as you start looking at it, you're like, I think there's more to this than probably is being reported. Well, I think they're equally as stupid as it appears in order to really build comic books. Yeah.

the morals of little kids in estonia or someplace but it may not maybe a kind of a camouflage camouflage thing where they're yeah you think with once okay that makes a lot of sense bob thank you for the call this morning i appreciate it we got one one question I'm calling you on an iPhone, and I was simultaneously listening to the program on the iHeartRadio, and I was wondering if maybe I went from the touchstone stage.

On my touch screen, I mean, on my phone, should I go to the stomp on it and scream stage, which may be the next level up and try and get the thing to work, but I didn't go that far. Yeah, don't do that. It's not you, it's us. What do they say? It's not you, it's me. Okay, thank you, folks. Thanks, Bob. All right.

Oh, my goodness. It's one of those days, you guys. It's just one of those days. I mean, you know, sometimes the tech gremlins get us. Today's one of those days. Well, I will tell you, you know, Trump has announced a lot of things. One of the things he has announced is withdrawing the United States. States from and ending funding to certain United Nations organizations. We'll get into this on the other side of the break.

Trump, again, is over target. When we start talking about some of the efforts the U.N. is engaged in and the U.S. money that is going towards these operations, and now he's saying... Yeah, this isn't good for us. We're not going to do it anymore. I got to tell you, this is going to send shockwave waves around the world. And this is exactly what needs to happen. We're going to take a quick break. When we come back, we'll get into the headlines of the day and so much more. Stay with us.

Secondive order that could be challenged in court. I'm Dave Anthony, Fox News and President Trump plans to sign it. Coinciding with national girls and women in sports. Fox's Jared Halpern at the White House, where this new order aims to prevent athletes born male from competing in female sports.

interpret Title IX, a federal law requiring gender equity in athletics and preventing sexual harassment. President Trump has already signed an order that says the U.S. government recognizes two genders, male and female. Now, just yesterday, a federal judge blocked another Trump order that would have moved transgender female inmates out of women's prisons into facilities for men. And President Trump tries to shrink the federal workforce. More than 20,000 workers have accepted his offer to resign.

except buyouts. Democrats are upset that Elon Musk is leading the charge to downsize at the new Department of Government Efficiency. Who is this unelected billionaire? that he can attempt to dismantle federal agencies, fire people? That's Democratic Congressman Jerry Connolly at a hearing this morning calling for the House Oversight Committee to subpoena Musk for questioning. President Trump's getting pushback from other world leaders to his plan to...

Have the US take over Gaza and rebuild it and move all the displaced Palestinians to other countries. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz just told Fox. Let's talk in practical, humane terms about what's going to happen to 2 million people who are living in piles of You

No sewage, no sanitation. It's a wasteland with bullets flying. Many leaders still prefer a Palestinian state and Fox's Trey Yanks reports from Tel Aviv Israel. This is significant and has serious implications for the ongoing ceasefire conversations.

Senior Hamas officials speaking with Fox News this morning said that any manipulation to the current deal could cause it to collapse. And we're just getting word out of Ohio. Police have captured the man and went on a shooting spree at his warehouse workplace late last night in New Albany, killing one. co-worker and wounding five others. America's listening to Fox News.

Seems everything costs more these days. Gas, groceries, and when's the last time you checked your wireless bill? Yikes. When it comes to big wireless, if you're staying, you may be overpaying. Switch to Consumer Cellular and get the same fast, reliable, nationwide...

coverage without the big wireless bill plans start at just 20 bucks a month and that's not a short-term promo but don't just take our word for it here's Jackie and Veronica real customers I didn't know that I could get something for a lot less money that was actually better than who I was with before. So it's a great opportunity. be able to listen to us. So I want to get into this. Donald Trump issued a new executive order yesterday, and here's the title of it. Withdrawing the United States from and ending funding to certain United Nations.

organizations in reviewing United States support of all international organizations. According to this, the purpose of this executive order, it says the United States helped found The United Nations after World War II to prevent future global conflicts and promote international peace and security. But some of the U.N.'s agencies and bodies have drifted from this mission and instead act contrary to the interests of the United States.

our allies and propagating anti-semitism as in 2018 when the United Nations withdrew from the UN Human Rights Council The United States will reevaluate our commitment to these institutions. Three UN organizations that deserve renewed scrutiny are... Let's just get into it. It's UNHRC. Then they have the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization known as UNESCO.

the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, UNRWA has reportedly been infiltrated by members of groups long designated by the Secretary of State as foreign terrorist organizations, and UNRWA employees were involved in the October 7, 2023.

Hamas attack on Israel. UNHRC has protected human rights abusers by allowing them to use the organization to shield themselves from scrutiny while UNESCO... has demonstrated failure to form itself, has continually demonstrated anti-Israel sentiment over the past decade, and has failed to address concerns over mounting arrears. So the U.S. now is literally, I mean, look, it has come out. As they have released some of these hostages, they have said that UNRWA was involved in the October 7th issue.

So, again, I think it's one of these issues where as we start to have conversations about where our foreign aid is going and what organizations we're members of, Donald Trump is right over target. Not only that, Donald Trump is also reinstituting sanctions on Iran. Look, they are the number one global sponsor of terrorism. It makes no sense whatsoever.

for us not to have sanctions on Iran. In another EO that he issued yesterday, National Security Presidential Memorandum, he's calling it number two. It says right here, as president, my highest priority is to ensure the safety and security of the United States and the American people. Since its inception in 1979 as a revolutionary theocracy, the government of the Islamic Republic...

of Iran has declared its hostility to the United States and its allies and partners. Iran remains the world's leading state sponsor of terror and has aided Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and other terrorist networks. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC.

is itself a designated foreign terrorist organization. So he goes on. I mean, this is a long one, so I'm totally not going to read the whole thing to you. But he goes on and talks about Iran's nuclear program, including its enrichment, reprocessing, and... related nuclear capabilities, including missiles, poses an existential danger to the United States and the entire civilized world. And he starts talking in this memorandum as...

as the threat to the U.S., how it's growing. And so the policy, when we get to Section 1 policy, it's the policy of the United States that Iran be denied a nuclear weapon and intercontinental ballistic missiles. that Iran's network and campaign of regional aggression be neutralized, and that the IRGC and its surrogates be disrupted, degraded, and denied access to the resources that sustain their destabilizing activities and counter Iran's aggression.

and development of missiles and other asymmetric and conventional weapon capabilities. So he's literally talking about, right here in Section 2, He titles it, Enacting Maximum Pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran. So what does that mean? Immediate sanctions. Immediate sanctions, right away. Robust and continual sanctions.

It says review for modification or recession of general license frequency, frequently asked questions, or other guidance that provides Iran or any of its terror proxies any degree of economic or financial relief. Issue updated guidance to all relevant business sectors, including shipping, insurance, port operators. So basically it's a full-on sanction of Iran, right? That means if you're the U.S. and our allies.

Nobody's going to be doing business with Iran. That's what this means. So he gives direction in this EO to the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and a whole bunch of other people. So as we look at that, look. Trump is, he is, look, he's poking the hornet's nest, every single one of them, and he knows what he's getting into. Why? Because at the same time, he issues this.

Trump also issues an order that basically says if he's assassinated to obliterate Iran. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this. This is coming in the New York Post. It says right here, President Trump said Tuesday that Iran will be obliterated if it assassinates him. Says he's drafting an order that, in effect, says that if he dies. He says right here, here's a quote.

It says, if they did that, they would be obliterated. That would be the end. That's the quote from Trump. That's what he said from the Oval Office as he signed an order to reimpose maximum pressure on Tehran, including directing the Treasury Secretary. and the Secretary of State to tighten sanctions on Iran's oil sales and enforce violations of existing restrictions. So, again, I mean, Trump knows what he's dealing with here. I mean, he basically is putting Iran on...

Notice that, yes, yes, we are reimposing sanctions, and if you kill me, we are going to decimate you. I mean, I've got to be honest with you. I think he knows exactly what he's dealing with. And I think when you go after the deep state money, when you go after every single liberal ideology type of project, when you start drawing up funding to other countries, when you now go back and you take on the number one sponsor of terrorism on the globe.

you're probably a pretty big target. And Trump knows it. And he clearly knows. He says it. He says, I know this is a possibility. If this happens, we will obliterate them. I'm drafting the order right now. If I'm killed, this is what should happen. And I will tell you, this is a man who's knowingly doing what's in the best interest of the United States, no matter the risk, potential purchase. Look, he's already survived two assassination attempts. At this point.

I feel like he knows like God is at his back and he's doing what he's meant to do. I mean, that's kind of how I feel about it. So, you know, as we're watching this, I mean, make no mistake, whether we're talking about the southern border.

The northern border. We're talking about fentanyl in our country. We're talking about wildfires and turning water back on in California. That didn't happen because of Gavin Newsom. That happened because of Donald Trump. Whether we talk about rebuilding North Carolina. Whether we're talking about freeing political hostages, which Trump did, or now we're talking about economic...

resurgence here in the U.S. We're not just talking about using tariffs to relocate manufacturing. We're talking about unleashing the energy potential, and Alaska is central to that strategy for the United States. I mean, this is somebody who is literally, he has a war to fight, and he's fighting it on every single front. He has done more in three weeks than Joe Biden did in three years.

To help our country. Now, Joe Biden did a lot to destroy, try to destroy our country. But Donald Trump is coming in. And I would just say he's not even dropping cluster bombs. He's he is just he is carpet bombing every single issue. And some of the issues are with immediate precision, right? I mean, look what is happening right now on our southern border. It is a beautiful site.

to see those Blackhawks flying on that southern border, to see those men in green backing up all our Customs and Border Patrol agents that have been dying for help for the past four years. They have been begging for it. And now we actually have real leadership at the helm of these departments and in the White House. And it is a thing of beauty to see the U.S. resurge.

as not only a global leader, but have U.S. resurge as a country that says we're going to put our citizens first. It is a thing of beauty. Absolute thing of beauty. What else is a thing of beauty? Every time Tom Holman opens his mouth. Oh, I have a beautiful audio clip I'm going to play for you. I'm going to go ahead and take a commercial first. When I come back, we're going to get into that. Stay with us. 6 to 8 mornings on News Radio 650 KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650.

Welcome back to our time, 738. All right, I'm going to go back to Mike because I think we lost you there for a minute. So you were talking about the 1002, and I think you were referring to Ada as having the lease up there. What were you concerned about or what are you thinking about these days relating to oil and gas development up there? Well, the problem, I'm being told that...

ConocoPhillips and the oil industry folks don't want to do anything with it because every four years it flips from one back to another, and they have no consistency. willing to do anything. And then Bob Bergman today, I think it was either today or just yesterday, came out with an executive order opening up all the...

Shoreline, opening up ANWR, all this stuff. President Trump's talked about reducing permit times, you know, drastically. One of the different things that he's doing. But even with all of that... We need to get Conoco and all the other oil industries into the White House, into the Oval Office with the president. with Dan Sullivan, with Nick Begich, with Lisa Murkowski, with Mike Dunleavy, and sit down and lay this out so they know that we've got their back, get in there, drill, baby, drill.

And even if, God forbid, the communist socialists take back the White House in eight years, they turn around, the oil rigs are there, the pipeline is there, getting those off of there is... It would be an impossibility. Yeah, you look, you hear me. Look, we've had this debate in Alaska relating to our oil tax royalties for a long time because when there's inconsistency in the market, I mean, we're talking billions of dollars of investment in order to develop these fields.

When that much money is on the line, you're right, consistency matters. I would still argue, yes, it matters. Yes, we need to get as far down the field as we can in order to make sure that the next administration doesn't reverse whatever Trump administration does

But I would say the U.S. is still a far more safe investment than some of these foreign lands where you're dealing with, like, you know, violent overthrows of the government. I mean, look what happened in Venezuela when the government just comes in and seizes out. assets of these producers.

So I agree with you. I totally agree with you that consistency matters. But I would argue that the U.S. is still the best place in the world to actually develop. I'm not going to argue against that by any means.

I think what we need people to do is to call Dan, Lisa, Nick, the governor, and say, get down there with Conoco at the White House, in the Oval Office, and let the... president who has the art of the deal to be able to sit down and say look guys this is what this is what needs to be done this is what we're going to do to protect you and do it because you know and i as much as i love trump

As long as you've got nobody that wants to do anything, he can open Anwar up until the cows come home. If they're not going to get out there and drill, what do we do? State of Alaska can do it on its own, and we know how that works. I will tell you, there's something about President Trump. I mean, look, when he speaks, people pay attention because they know he means business. Whether we're talking about tariffs, right? I mean, again, the whole discussion about the Russian-Mexican...

I mean, Mexican and Canadian tariffs was all about border security. It was getting them to do their job on their side of the border in order to keep us safer. That's what it was all about. To your point, it was all about the... deal. And the deal he was going for, it really wasn't an economic one. It was creating leverage to get the borders closed, right, to make Americans safer. So, you know, and knowing Trump, now when he comes out and he keeps talking about

And he keeps saying, drill, baby, drill. Like, people know he means business. And I think you can get a lot accomplished in four years. It should not take 15 years to permit a project. And this is what Trump has talked about. I think his national energy emergency will come into play because they'll be able to bypass a lot of the permitting and streamline a lot of those, you know, onerous legal challenges.

So I think you're on the right track. I think we need to keep the pressure on our delegation. And I think you're exactly right, Mike. Hey, Mike, thanks for the call this morning. I hope you're doing well. Tell Gail I said hello. Will do. We're moving into our new house on the 10th. Oh, fantastic. Well, I can't wait to see pictures, my friend. I'll talk to you soon. Okay. Thanks. Bye.

All right. Well, you know, to Mike's point, he was talking about Secretary Burgum. Secretary Burgum has signed his first round of Secretary's orders to unleash American energy. This coming off the... Department of Interior website here. This was on the 3rd, so this was on Monday. Doug Burgum officially began his tenure as the 55th Secretary of the Interior, marking the start of a new era focused on advancing American energy independence.

and ensuring the responsible stewardship of the nation's public lands and resources. Secretary Burgum said, today marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for the Department of Interior. We are committed to working collaboratively to unlock America's full potential in energy dominance and economic development to make our life more affordable for every American family.

while showing the world the power of America's natural resources and innovation. Together, we will ensure that our policies reflect the needs of our communities, respect tribal sovereignty, and drive innovation that will keep the U.S. at the forefront of energy. and environmental leadership, end quote. So what did he do? He signed Secretary's Order 3417, which is addressing the national energy emergency.

In there, you know, what he's talking about, it says the Interior Department will take immediate steps to undertake two efforts to address our nation's inadequate energy supply and protect against this active threat to our national and economic security. First, the Interior Department will immediately identify all emergency and legal authorities available to facilitate the identification.

permitting, leasing, development, production, transportation, refining, distribution, exporting, and generation of domestic energy sources and critical minerals.

cut through all the red tape and get projects online and energy products to market. That's really what that says. Second, The Department of Interior will identify all emergency and other legal authorities available to expedite the completion of all authorized and appropriate infrastructure, energy, environmental, and natural resource projects.

Drill, baby, drill. That's literally what that's saying. Drill, baby, drill. Like, Doug Burgum is not wasting any time. Like, you see this in every, this is why I say. Donald Trump is carpet bombing all of these topics with, you know, it's not just like this vague, oh, let's just do this. They're saying we're going to hit all these targets, but they're doing it with precision.

And they're actually getting things done already. I mean, they are moving. Look, we are going to face legal challenges on every single front. Like the greeny left are going to sue us to stop development, right? The liberal left are going to stop. are going to sue us to try to stop deportations. They're going to try to stop us from funding hostile foreign governments. But the reality is, when you have so many cracks in the dam,

and you're taking down all these liberal policies, all you need is two or three for the dam to break. And that's exactly what's happening. Right now, this is what we call shock and awe, baby. Shock and awe. All right, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. When we come back... I want to end the day with an inspirational quote from Senator Kennedy. Just wait for this one. We'll be right back. Thinking about these days relating to oil and gas development up there.

Looking at your Alaska total traffic cameras on this Wednesday morning. Steady traffic around the Anchorage Bowl. No major stoppages out there. Lots of little slowdowns. Welcome back to live, local, and insightful Morning Drive Radio on NewsRadio 650 KENI. I got to tell you, Daryl, multiple things I am thankful for. And coming out of the state of Louisiana, we have Mardi Gras, Ben Yays, and Senator Kennedy.

Senator Giddy, I've got to be honest with you, he cracks me up. Like, he is so funny. If you watch him in some of these hearings, believe it or not, for all my lawyer friends out there, like, he's actually a lawyer and he's funny. Like, that can happen. It's not an oxymoron. It really can happen. But he is really funny. He was on Fox News, and you're going to hear in this audio clip, he's talking about the meltdown that is happening over guys.

you know the the look at government spending when you peek behind the curtain and you see the great and powerful oz and you see how the money is being spent In D.C., you're having an apoplectic meltdown. And he's in the Capitol, so he's in the rotunda part, which is very, it's a little bit echoey. And so there's nothing I could do to clean that audio up. It is what it is. But I want to hear, I want to share. with you Senator Kennedy's take on the meltdown that is happening in DC.

Let me say first, Sean, that it's kind of cool having a president again. Let me try to put all this in context for you. I like omelets. I mean, I really like omelets. I could eat an omelet at every meal. I like omelets better than sex. Not really, but you get the point. I like omelets. You can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs. Now, President Trump. I'm going to review every single penny in the federal budget. Now, how are you going to review?

the spending in the federal budget without reviewing the spending. And that's what Mr. Musk is doing. Now, many of my Democratic colleagues and some of the The tofu-eating Bokarati at the USAID are screaming like they're part of a prison riot because they don't want us reviewing the spending. But that's all Mr. Musk is doing, and he's finding some pretty interesting stuff. To my friends who are upset, I would say with respect, call somebody who cares. They better get used to it.

of this. It's USAID today. It's going to be Department of Education tomorrow. And really, here's what's going on. For four years under President Biden, the people in charge asked one simple question. Who needs to pay more in taxes? Who needs to pay more in taxes? Well, that's not the question that the Republicans and President Trump are going to ask. Our question is, what the hell happened to the money?

And that's all that's going on. I got to be honest with you. Again, right over target. I mean, when you start talking about. politicians wanting to take more of your money, right? You constantly hear from the left, corporations need to pay their fair share. What does that mean?

That means you. That means they're going to raise their taxes on you. When they start raising the corporate tax, it raises the cost of commodities. It raises the cost of your toothbrushes, your toothpaste, every single thing that is being produced. raising the price of it. That's what that really means. Instead of saying that the corporations need to pay their fair share, which means raising taxes on you, we just need more money. We need to find more revenue. Doesn't that sound familiar?

What he's saying is, what are we spending your money on now? Your money on now, right? Do you really want to spend your money on transgender operas? in Colombia or wherever that was or transgender comic books in Peru or DEI in Serbia I mean I would say the vast majority of people Listening, regardless of what side you're on, you'd say, maybe that's not the best use of our money. Maybe some people would say we need to spend more on education. I'm not one of them, but maybe somebody would.

But Senator Kennedy always has a zinger in there. He always has it in there. And the fact that he combined woke and Illuminati, and he called it the tofu-eating woke-arati, like, I almost died. I almost, like, split a gut. The thing about Senator Kennedy, he's actually quite brilliant. He has these very sensational, like, quips, but that gets people's attention, and what does he refocus you on? There are two distinct groups here.

One, who says we need to take more of your money? Who else can we tax? And the other is saying, wait a second, how are we spending the billions of dollars from U.S. taxpayers right now? Because maybe, just maybe, that money could be spent better. Or maybe we don't need as much. If we actually... spend your money wisely, maybe we can do it more efficiently and we don't have to tax you as high. Imagine that. I'm in that camp.

I'm in the camp and I've always been like this. When I got into politics, I always said, I will not vote for a tax increase unless I absolutely believe we're already spending every penny of your money appropriately. And the problem is there's a lot of waste. And you see it in the Anchorage School District. You see it at the state level. You see it at the federal level. And it's time we have somebody, you know, pull the curtain back and actually look how the money's being spent.

I think it's appropriate. And people are losing their ever-loving minds in Washington, D.C. It is the most entertaining thing you can watch. All right, that does it for Daryl and I today. We will be back with you tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. Until then, stay safe. God bless.
