The opinions expressed on this show are those of the host and not of iHeart Media or its employees. Thank you for listening to NewsRadio 650 KENI. Amy Demboski. The show starts now. Our lines are open at 907-522-0650. This is The Morning Drive on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Good morning. It is finally Friday, January 31st, 2025. Current time, 6.07 a.m. Daryl, I woke up this morning, the first thing I thought of is, I wish it was Saturday.

I woke up this morning, the first thought I had was, it's cold. That was my first thought. I woke up and, well, it was one of those, I've got to go to the bathroom, get out, feet hit the floor. I swear the floor of my room was at, oh, I don't know, 58 degrees, something like that. like that, it was cold. Oh, no bueno, no bueno. I got to tell you, I went outside with a dog and I was like, oh, this is...

I don't know why I think this very mild winter has softened all of us. Oh, yeah. For our benefit, though, it is below zero, like six below. So I had square tires this morning when I got out on the road. I had the thump, thump, thump, thump game going on. Thump, thump, thump, thump. That's what your car does as you drive down the road and it hits the flat spot. Thump, thump, thump, thump. It's like, oh, come on. Yeah, well, you know, my commute was great.

It was not an issue. I did put my shoes on. I have my shoes on. Oh, but also to clarify this for everybody out there, to put this into perspective. Fairbanks is 27 below. Oh, my friends in Fairbanks, that's where the land of real Alaskans. It's definitely a shivering temperature up there. Oh, my goodness. Well, better them than me, let's just say. It is a pretty quiet morning so far. Temperatures around South Central are relatively cold. Right now, we have five below in...

Palmer. You said Anchorage was six below? Six below here in Anchorage. Actually, it varies. I was going to say, actually, it varies. I know. West side, six below. Anywhere along the mountains, like say Muldoon or up in the heights up there, yeah, no, you're like 10 and 12 below. So you guys are double-digit Sub-Zero. Plug that car in.

Oh, that is cold. Yeah, a key on my app here is three below. So it's definitely one of those, you know, I was looking yesterday, and they're calling for next week for it to be in the 20s. Okay, I'll live with that again. I'll be happy again. So I'm happy about that. 20s work for me. Usually even single digits around here, I'm like, eh, no big deal. I actually haven't even...

Broken out my winter coat like I switched when it got you know a little warmer and I'm just all week long I've just been sticking with You know a light coat and I just I feel like it's fine. It's fine But I do walk very quickly between my car and my work, you know, back and forth very quickly. Feeling very emasculated in here right now, feeling like I've got a bow in my hair or something. Well, you know, what can I say, Daryl? What can I say?

Very nice. Daryl has his tinfoil hat out, by the way. BT dubs. He has his tinfoil hat out. I can't wait to hear what Daryl's story of the week is. Well, wait a second. Tinfoil hat. No, no, no. With everything going on now, I've brought out my tinfoil helmet. I mean, this is like... like NASA quality tin foil helmet. That is true, that is true.

Well, it is Friday, so we are going to. We have a number of stories that we're going to try to get to. But, you know, callers take priority on Fridays, as always. And so if you want to call in, be part of the show. Number is 522-0650. Let's start with some public announcements. There's not a lot of them, but there are a few. The first up in the Mattsu Borough, the Big Lake Road Service Area Board of Supervisors has a special meeting today.

At 6.30, it's going to be at the Big Lake Family Restaurant. I'm just trying to see more details here. See if I can see more details what this special meeting is about. It's about a resolution and I don't know what the resolution is about. It's about a desk. Of course. Oh, wait, no, that's Resolute Desk. No, here it is. Here it is. Resolution to rebid and to transfer fund balance.

So it's about moving money. That's what it's about. So again, that's going to be tonight, 6.30 at the Big Lake Family Restaurant. If you want more information, just go to matzu.gov, and you'll be able to find the information there. Just go down in their calendar. There's not anything that I saw publicly noticed for the city of West Eller or the city of Palmer, but I did see on Saturday at the Menard Center, there is the Alaska Farm and Garden Show.

which is going to be over at the Menard Center Saturday and Sunday, Saturday from 10 to 6, Sunday from 11 to 5. So that looks kind of fun. I mean, come on. Who doesn't like farm and garden stuff? I bet you they have cool equipment there you can see, too. I feel like I need to go over there. So, you know, Daryl, I told you, I got this wonderful generator from...

What? Alaska Motorsports? Is that what I think their name is? Yeah, because it's a crazy spot. Never thought of them having one. Yeah. Right next to the store to Alaska Mining Diving. But they're downtown off of... What is the name of that road? I'm trying to think what the name of the road is. Yeah, it's like over there in that area. But fantastic. The other name is commercial when you get down that way. Yeah, it's fantastic. So we get our generator from them.

And, you know, we saved thousands of dollars. I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you thousands of dollars. The bid we got from them was significantly lower than this other company, so they're great. But did you know? Did you know they have robots now that can mow your lawn? Yes. Robots. Robots!

Robots that can mow your lawn. I'm not even exaggerating. The product they had there was a Husqvarna product. And so I was looking them up online. I'm like, this is the coolest. I may end up with a robot. So my question is, do those robots have dog poop sensors on them? Because there's nothing worse than somebody who mows over the, yeah. Right, well, see, all you have to do is just not let your dog poop in the front yard, and you'll be fine. Who said it was my dog?

I live in Anchorage. Yeah. Oh, that's true. That's true. Good point. I don't know about that, but it's a thing. I don't know if they're going to have them here, but I will tell you. it's a thing now i'm looking at technology i'm like they can do almost anything these days and then i and then i thought well if they have them that can mow the lawn i wonder if they have like little robots that can plow so i google it of course they do they exist

I actually saw that a couple of weeks ago. I've never seen one up here. I've never seen one, but I was like, I saw the, you know, I looked up the video and I was like, oh my word. Imagine if you could just automate everything. Like, I'm all about.

longevity, and automation. If you can do it, you know, make things easier on yourself. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. But, you know, I don't know. So it may be fun, actually, to go to the Alaska Farm and Garden Show. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it, but... I think it would be fun. So, again, that's going to be at the Menard Center Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 6 on Saturday and 11 to 5 on Sunday out here in Wasilla.

Moving on to Anchorage, there is a couple things on the calendar. Not much, actually. I see a board of adjustment meeting is... This morning at 10 a.m. That will be in City Hall, Conference Room 240. Then at 12, there is a Public Transit Advisory Board work session. That's going to be at the Transit Administration Building on the 2nd. floor, which is located over there off of 3600 MLK Drive. So it'll be in the conference room.

As far as the Anchorage Assembly goes, I don't see anything on their calendar today. So they're clear until next week. And that really does it for public announcements. Kenai, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Saldana, Homer, none of them have anything publicly noticed. So it's pretty strange. forward today it's a pretty quiet week actually for most local governments if you have a public announcement or you know something fun that's going on that you think people should know about

please give us a call. We'd love to plug it. The number to call, 522-0650. We're going to go ahead and take our first break of the morning. Then when we come back, we will start getting into the headlines of the day. Looking at your Alaska total traffic cameras on this cold Friday morning. Traffic is light inbound on the Glen Highway. No major stops or slowdowns out there. Amy Demboski, 6 to 8 mornings on News Radio 650 KENI.

Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back. Current time, 617 on this Friday morning. Well, he is up to 8. I'm watching the scorecard right now. Politico has a score. Amy Demboski, 6 to 8, mornings on News Radio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back. Current time 617 on this Friday morning. Well, he is up to 8. I'm watching the scorecard right now.

Politico has a scorecard of, so I can just click on that every day to see how many nominees there are now. And Doug Burgum has been now... confirmed as the interior secretary so that has happened so just a quick recap of who we have so far confirmed by the US Senate with two appointed positions. We have Senator Marco Rubio, who is Secretary of State. We have Secretary of Treasury Scott Besant.

I have to say it, like, slowly. Otherwise, my tongue, I get tongue-tied. Of course, Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense. Doug Burgum has been confirmed as the Interior Secretary. DOT is Sean Duffy. Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, EPA, Lee Zeldin, and CIA, John Ratcliffe.

This week has been a fun week watching. I got to tell you, Daryl, did you notice my show prep came super late last night? Oh, did I notice that? Are you kidding? I think that might be the reason I woke up and had to get out of bed was, like I said, it was like, bing. What? I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I like to be in bed by 9 because we get up ridiculously early. And yesterday, I just couldn't sleep. So yesterday, I got up at 3. And...

You know, my dog who usually goes out, you know, around 5-ish, somewhere in that neighborhood, at 3.30, he was like, Okay, I'm ready to go out. I'm ready to have my breakfast. I mean... Well, you started the trend. I couldn't help it. I may have had a bowl of ice cream yesterday at 3.30 in the morning. It may have happened. It may have happened. I was sitting there. I turned on the TV. I'm watching a movie. So yesterday was one of those.

One of the greatest ice cream toppings is? What? Fruity Pebbles. No, I've never tried it. I didn't even think of it. Never tried it. Oh, see, I bet that would be good. Well, you know, I was... I was absolutely adamant I was going to go to bed early yesterday because I was just, I was like, oh, it was a long day. It was a long day. It was great seeing you, though, Daryl. I don't get to go to town often, but I had to go in and talk to Crash and do some.

do some radio stuff at the station. And Daryl... keyed me into this wonderful place over in Spenard to eat. It's called Sophia's Restaurant. If you've never been, I've got to tell you, I love these little tiny mom-and-pop places. You are absolutely the foodie, Daryl.

I like to eat. I mean, when you see the belly that's on me, and A, for everybody out there knowing, there has been no endorsements paid. This is strictly straight off the cuff. We went there and ate. There's no remunerations. This is just our actual feelings. Yeah, no, it was fantastic. I mean, I honestly think it's the best salad bar.

It is the best salad bar I've ever seen. It was incredible. Salad bar, cost-wise is good, everything. Oh my gosh. What are some of the things on that salad bar that caught your attention that was surprising? Well, I've never seen kimchi on a salad bar. I mean, they had the typical salad bar, right? So you have one side of a salad. You have the typical salad bar with all the typical stuff, you know, cheeses and vegetables and salad and whatnot.

And then you go to the other side and there's like, I don't know if it was imitation crab or real crab, but they had like crab and they had kimchi and they had like... Little seaweed, and they had pasta salad, and they had... It was like your typical salad bar times two because they had, like, a whole other salad bar just of toppings. There's, like, Brussels sprouts on there. I've seen grilled...

zucchini or something like that. There was some kind of a squash that was grilled. Yeah, it's just so many things. I saw it and I took pictures of it. It was amazing. And all their salad dressings are homemade. I mean, literally made from scratch in there. It's, like I said, everything. And the soup.

Again, from scratch, I absolutely love the place. I've been going there since they opened about nine months ago, and they have not disappointed me yet. And also, they always make it up for two meals. That's probably my favorite thing about it is I can eat there, take it home, and have a whole other meal. And, you know, I am like the tomato soup snob. And they made a homemade tomato soup. I had soup and salad yesterday. And their tomato soup was primo.

It was fantastic. So thank you for bringing me there because it was so good. And it was great to see you. You know, twice a year we get to see each other in person. Exactly. And I was certainly impressed and happy to see you too at Tickled Me Pink and that you were going to come over and eat.

And yeah, shout outs to Maria and her husband, Paul. They do a great job over there. And like I said, they know me. For all of you French dip lovers, that's my normal go-to there. Now, when Amy was there, I did try something different. I tried their Cajun pasta.

That was so good. But, yeah, their French dip, literally, I can live on those over there. Well, we're going to have to do it again. I'm hungry. It was fantastic. I know, I know. See, now I'm like, how is it, Daryl, we always end up talking about food? It's a conspiracy theory. It is. It is. This happens all the time.

All right, well, this weekend is also, if you're out in Willow, the Willow Carnival is this weekend. Yes, I texted a friend to see if I could get some details on it. But if you live in Willow, I'm sure you know. But the Willow Carnival is also.

this weekend so that's that see fun stuff to do it's not just look we're entertaining around here it's not just news all the time though there is a lot of really good news out there I gotta be honest with you If you do have to willow up there this weekend, make sure you bring hand warmers, extra blankets, everything you can think of to help keep warm.

Yeah, it's going to be chilly. But the Willow Carnival is this weekend. So if you're out that way, and my friends in Willow, I hope you have fun. I don't know that I'm going to make it up there. I might get up there at some point to check on the cabin. I think I have to do that. My dad was going to do that for me this week. So we will see. We will see. But there you go. As far as news goes, the executive orders keep coming.

I've got to be honest with you, they keep coming. Trump has now, this one when I heard it, Daryl, I thought, this is brilliant. This is absolutely brilliant. Now, will there be lawsuits? I guarantee it. But you know what? Brilliant. Expanding migrant operation centers at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to full capacity. Trump's putting illegals in Gitmo. Sounds like a perfect transition spot.

I mean, I've got to be honest with you, and these are basically illegal aliens that have their countries won't take them back. So he's like, Gitmo's a good place for them. So here we have it. It says, memorandum for the Secretary of Homeland Security, subject to expanding Migrant Operations Center. at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to full capacity. I hereby direct the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Homeland Security to take all appropriate actions.

to expand the Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to full capacity to provide additional detention space for high-priority criminal aliens lawfully present in the United States and to address attendant immigration enforcement needs identified by the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security this memorandum is issued in order to halt the border invasion dismantle criminal cartels and restore national sovereignty I mean

Like, if that ain't a message, Trump's putting illegal aliens in Gitmo. I mean, when I heard that, like, I don't know why this thought never, ever, ever occurred to me. It never dawned on me, but I got to tell you, the little left's got to be going apoplectic over this. I mean, this is the thing about Trump. His strategy is clearly flood the zone.

He is doing everything. He is everywhere. He is not playing around. He is everywhere at the same time. Also, he announced, this is a story out of Mustard, Alaska, tariffs on Canada and Mexico coming up. Promises made, promises kept. President Donald Trump announced Thursday the United States will impose A 25% tariff on goods imported from Mexico and Canada starting as early as Saturday. And tariffs on certain Chinese goods as well.

He said he would decide Thursday evening whether tariffs on Mexico and Canada would extend to oil imports. I haven't heard the outcome of that yet. Tariffs on goods from the two countries is something he promised to do in November, saying the tariffs would be...

in place immediately at the start of his administration until the tide of illegal immigration was stopped. Look, he ain't playing. You slap a 25% tariff on Mexico, and look, it's going to, even the people like, you know, you hear about the Chinese manufacturing plants that have been put in Mexico to avoid certain American tariffs. But look, now when you slap the tariff on Mexico, it's not going to incentivize China.

let's specifically be China or other countries, to go to Mexico because now the cost is going to be prohibitive. So do you think those countries that have manufacturing spots in Mexico Do you think they're going to put pressure on Mexico to tighten up their border? I suspect they will. I suspect they will. Look, Trump is a master at negotiations, pressure negotiations. The man, I'm telling you what, just when you're like, oh, wait, all of a sudden he's coming, he's absolutely flooding the zone.

That's actually part of, I think, part of the secret is he learned from the Democrats that you hit everybody. You throw as much spaghetti at the wall. And then you get whatever sticks, which, you know. Keep going. Exactly. Keep going. And with these tariffs, I keep seeing and hearing a lot of people screaming how it's going to affect Alaska and how it's just going to be horrible for Alaska. And I got a kind of question for those people. because...

The reason we're putting the tariffs on is we're trying to get Mexico and Canada to lock up their borders. All of these people have been coming freely through their country into ours. To me, that's them then coming from Canada. Thank you. Reach out to Amy now. 907-522-0650. That's 907-522-0650. It's Amy DeBoski on NewsRadio 650. KENI. Welcome back. Current time is 635. We have worked out the gremlins.

Sometimes I have. Usually I hear a zap in my ear when my tie line goes down, but I heard nothing, Daryl, so I have no idea where you lost me. And I agree. Oh, you talked for probably a good 20 seconds while I was telling people that they couldn't hear you because she was... I was talking, and then I just ended up sending it hit 30, so I sent it to the break there. Yeah, we just went to commercial. All right, well, there you go. So the big news coming out, obviously.

of dc is is all about these confirmation hearings that are going on right now um last night i started to say why i what i sent daryl my show prep so late and really it was because i got sucked into watching almost the entire Kash Patel confirmation hearing. That sucker was like five hours long. It was very long. So I did skip a little bit. You know, I kind of fast-forwarded a little bit.

And a lot of it was not listening to the Republicans because, you know, we know they're going to be supportive and we know they're going to talk about certain things. Though I did listen to Josh Hawley, his exchange with Cash Patel. It was sensational. You know, he was pointing out, like, Captain Obvious. I mean, this is what is amazing to me, is when you point out how many times some of these people have lied in front of Congress. Look, they're sworn in under oath.

And they lie, lie, lie, lie, lie. And nothing happens to them. Now, if one of us were to be in front of Congress and lie, we would end up with our butts in jail, right? You can't lie to the FBI. We all know that. We've seen people go to jail for that. Even when it's not necessarily a lie, like what General Flynn went through. But... We also know you're not supposed to lie under oath. And the reality is some of these were amazing to watch.

As I think about our audio clips, I want to start before I get into that one. I think I have Tulsi Gabbard first, don't I, Daryl? Do I have that one up first? I'm going to play you a small little snippet from Telsey Gabbard, and I want to set this up for a second. Telsey Gabbard used to be a Democrat. Then she switched, right? And she is now, she is now, she went independent.

And now she's technically a Republican. And I would say she's definitely a moderate. But she has won. I used to think it was going to be Kash Patel that they pushed back the hardest on. It's not. You know who I think they're most afraid of? It's Tulsi Gabbard. Because when you have somebody who has been critical of the intelligence agencies and the data collection on Americans and how they use these

the intelligence community to take data and data that oftentimes it has been exposed over and over again. They don't have a search warrant for it. It's not. I think they're more afraid of Telsey Gabbard than anybody else. I don't know that she's going to get confirmed. Because what I'm going to watch for, there is not one single reason somebody should vote against her. Not one that I've seen.

Now, I know there's some Republicans that have been critical, but I would say this. Tulsi Gabbard has been a staunch advocate. some of these intelligence agencies about the lying that has been done to Congress the illegal spying on Americans so she's kind of transcending both sides on this topic and it will be very interesting to see to me

see what Republicans actually vote against her because to me that speaks way more about them and we should be very worried. Here is a portion of Telsey Gabbard's opening statement. Just listen to what she's talking about. And I think you'll get an idea of why some are going to push back against her. Go ahead, Daryl. Here are just a few other examples. The American people elected Donald Trump as their president not once but twice.

And yet the FBI and intelligence agencies were politicized by his opponents to undermine his presidency and falsely portray him as a puppet of Putin. Title I of FISA was used illegally to obtain a warrant to spy on Trump campaign advisor Carter Page using a Clinton campaign-funded false dossier as their so-called evidence.

Biden campaign advisor Tony Blinken was the impetus for the 51 former senior intelligence officials letter dismissing Hunter Biden's laptop as disinformation specifically to help Biden win the election. Former DNI James Clapper lied to this committee in 2013, denying the existence of programs that facilitated the mass collection of millions of Americans' phone and Internet records, yet was never held accountable.

Under John Brennan's leadership, the CIA abused its power to spy on Congress, to dodge oversight, lied about doing it until he was caught and yet has never been held responsible. Under Biden, the FBI abused its power for political reasons to try to surveil Catholics who attend traditional Latin mass, labeling them as quote unquote radical traditionalist Catholics.

Personally, just 24 hours after I criticized Kamala Harris and her nomination, I was placed on a secret domestic terror watch list called Quiet Skies. Sadly, there are more examples. The bottom line is this, this must end. President Trump's reelection is a clear mandate from the American people to break this cycle of failure.

End the weaponization and politicization of the intelligence community and begin to restore trust in those who've been charged with the critical task of securing our nation. Okay, so... Tulsi Gabbard just went through a whole litany of issues. When she starts going at the heart of many of these illegal operations, and this is her point, whether she's talking about the dossier and stinking Tony...

And, you know, that implies a whole lot of people in that. Fusion GPS, Hillary Clinton, the DNC. You can understand why the Democrats don't want her there. Because, frankly, she's too honest to be a Democrat.

So then you turn around and you say, okay, so we can understand why that swath of people are going to really push back against her. Because, again, if she writes the ship and she puts in fail-safe, in there to make sure that the Democrats can't use the intelligence services to basically defeat and go after their opponents, well... Who in their right mind really wants to limit their own power, right? So that's an issue. That's an issue for them. But then she goes after Clapper.

And she starts talking about when he came before Congress and denied and denied and denied and denied that they were illegally collecting tons of information, whether it was text messages, cell phone calls, all kinds of data on Americans. without a warrant, illegally, and they denied the programs even existed. Oh, no. Oh, no. Those programs don't exist. Oh, but then here comes Edward Snowden, right?

And out comes, oh, yep, the NSA, they're spying on Americans. That's what came out of all of that. So, okay, that's a problem because she's sitting here saying, wait a second, they can't... They can't just do what they want with no oversight. So now all of a sudden, and then she brings out Brennan. She brings out Brennan, who turns out that under his tenure, they were spying on members of Congress and congressional staffers. Oh, boy.

here we go this is my point you know again so now now to me is not the question of I think Tulsi Gabbard is going to be their biggest target because there's a problem. When you have somebody who's honest and she will call out both sides, and she believes in what? the Constitution, the rule of law, and says, no, you can't illegally spy on Americans. I mean, this is why I thought they were going to push back really hard against Kash Patel, and there's no doubt. Look, the level of hysteria.

hysteria in the Senate yesterday judiciary when they will cash Patel was in front of them the Democrats were losing their ever-loving minds you know what they wanted to talk about the most They wanted to talk about Kash Patel's testimony in the Presidential Records Act type class, the records retention case. That's what they wanted to talk about. They kept trying to ask him all these questions, basically, what he testified to in the grand jury. Now, look, grand jury...

happenings are secret. Like if you're on the jury, if you're a prosecutor or whatever, they're secret. They don't come out. You know, they're confidential. Now, the DOJ has that, and by court order, actually, that whole case is locked up right now. So those records, those transcripts of his grand jury testimony, it is under court-ordered. So it's not happening. It's not being released right now. But they were trying every which way they could to get Kash Patel to tell them.

what he said and he kept saying, you know, I have no problem, but if you're going to release, he's like, you should release my entire transcript, not just like pieces and parts of what I said, but they're like, well, but what did you say? And he's like, again. Like, it's under court ordered. Like, it's not to be really, you know, right now all of those proceedings are, you know.

basically locked down under you know under court order and under doj he kept referencing the doj too he's like you should you know basically go to the department of justice and ask him to release it you know and They just kept trying to get him to testify on it over and over and over again. It was so painful to listen to. But then I go to Tulsi Gabbard and I start listening to her. And as you listen to what she's actually addressing,

I gotta tell you, Daryl, she's more of a threat to them. She right now, I think, is their biggest threat. And I agree with you, and I think one of the big things that I gained from it was the people repeatedly trying to get her to... Is Edward Snowden a traitor? And she would start talking about it. Is Edward Snowden a traitor? She wouldn't state that he was a traitor. And so they were literally, they were like, see, look, you know, she must be a traitor also.

yeah and it's you know it's amazing to me when i hear these when i see these Like, Adam Schiff, I've got to be honest with you. When I see any of these people start going on and on, whether they're going after Cash Patel or they're going after Tulsi Gabbard, Hirono from Hawaii is an idiot. I mean, I listen to this chick talk, and I'm just...

Like, this is your best and brightest. I'm sorry for your side. She proved that the last week that she is. It is so painful to watch. But as I watch them and I listen to their questions, you know. This is a really sad state, but when I listened to five hours of Senate confirmation hearing yesterday, when I actually sit there and listen to it, what I realized, it's all theater.

It's all theater. It's all scripted. They're all going to have their little moments and every, I don't care what side you're on. They all have their points they want to make versus actually just questioning somebody. I mean, it is all about.

It's political theater. There's no doubt about it. It is all political theater. I would say it was a waste of time, but I don't know. I learned something from it, which is... you know the most important thing in these confirmation hearings is not the confirmation hearing it is the one-on-one meetings with these candidates have these appointees have with each and every single

a legislator as they're trying to whip their votes. You know, at the end of the day, that's what it's about. And this is what's amazing to me, Daryl. I was thinking about this yesterday. We have 53 Republicans now. If the tide was turned, I don't know that Trump would get any of his nominees through.

Now, you are probably correct on that. And as you just said, we have 53, except for technically there's only 51 because we know Susan and Lisa are not going to. A caller called in just a few minutes ago. made a comment similar to that, and he wanted to know if we could put out Lisa Murkowski's number because...

I guess people are having a hard time finding it. And I was like, what do you mean? It's right there on her, you know, her government web page site. Do me a favor, Lisa. Lisa. Do me a favor, Amy. Pull up Lisa's government website, you know, her Senate. site and tell me if you can find under the contacts her phone number because I know this is a trick this is a total trick I found her number but it is not

On her page where you can pull it up and contact her, it's got emails, schedule meetings, talk to her staff. Her phone number is not there. No, it's not. You know, years ago. Years ago, and I wouldn't do this now because I've learned a lot about live radio, but years ago, on Live on the Air, I called Lisa Murkowski's office. And it was hilarious because every single time I called, it rang and rang and rang. And then I got a message that their mailbox was full. Like you couldn't get through.

You couldn't get through. Well, I do not see a phone number here, Daryl, but you found it. So what is the phone number? The phone number is 202-224-6665. Yeah, I found it now. Yeah. But you have to dig to find that number. Like I said, and on that main page where you're supposed to contact her and find all her stuff, that should be the problem. When you pull that page up, that literally should be in giant four-inch letters across the top of it, how to get a hold of me. Here's my phone number.

Yeah. Well, good luck in through. I've heard people for years tell me that they can never get through. But I will tell you, I will juxtapose this. This is why I stopped calling live on the air because I felt bad. Because we tried and tried and tried. I can't remember.

remember what issue was going on, but we tried and tried and tried to call Lisa Murkowski, and we would call her office live on the air, and we could never get through it. We always got the same message that their mailbox was full, and you couldn't even leave a message. And then I called Senator Sullivan's office.

one of his staffers answers and immediately I felt like I've kind of felt like a jerk and I you know I told him I was like hey this is Amy Dubowski I'm calling you're live on the air blah blah blah you know you kind of get tell people you can't you can't Sandbag somebody. Yeah, and so I told them they're live on the air, and I just, you know, thanked him for answering his phone and, you know, whatever. But he was really gracious, and he was very nice. But I felt like a jerk.

I don't do that anymore because I don't want to put the staffer in that position, you know. But what I – Consistent with my experience, Senator Sullivan's office has been incredibly responsive. And anytime I reached out to Congressman Young's office, I mean, I got a call back immediately from their staff. or an email response really bad. I mean, it was amazing how fast it was, but I have had a lot of difficulty over the years getting in touch with Lisa Murkowski's office anytime we've tried.

So there you go. There you go. But Daryl has solved it for us all. All right. We're going to go ahead and take a quick break. If you'd like to call in 522-0650. Now back to the boss. Amy Demfoski. Call 907-522-0650 and be a part of the show on News Radio 650. KENI. Welcome back. Current time is 654. We're going to go straight to the phones, and Heidi is with us. Good morning, Heidi. Good morning. How are you today? I'm good. Good. I was just listening to you talking about Lisa.

I emailed you last week with a text message that they sent me for the person that used to have my phone number. Okay. Did you get it? I didn't see it. I didn't see it, but I might have missed it. I have like four e-mail accounts for work. So I will go back and look, but I didn't see it. Okay. Well, they had sent me a text message.

When I go to the link and get in there, it tells me, now we want you to say this and this and this and this, and they give you four scenarios to talk about. And so I pushed one. and a girl got on the line and said, oh, what would you like to tell Lisa? And Lisa was in the background. I heard her. Oh. So it was a direct link. They were talking about Pete, so. Okay, okay.

Now, this is interesting to me. So what is this number that you were able to, or was it just a link? It was a link that went to a number, and then you could push call. Oh, I see, I see. So it was like an auto-generated type of, I want, interesting. Now I'm going to have to go back and double-check my, and see if your email, maybe that hit my spam folder.

Because was it my iHeartMedia email or was it my personal email you sent it to? No, iHeart. Okay, okay. I'll go back and I'll look. I'll see if I can find it. It may have just got caught in my spam folder. I might have just missed it. I guess the girl that used to have my phone number was a Democrat, so. So you're on their list. You're on their list. You can provide us good intel then. I don't know who I am now after the phone call.

Well, Heidi, thank you for the call. I appreciate the intel. Yep, yep. All right, thanks so much. Well, it is going to be one for the books, I've got to tell you. You know, RFK Jr. did a great job in his confirmation hearing. His win was over two days.

I think Cash Patel did a great job. I think he's going to get confirmed. Chelsea Gabbard is the one that's on the bubble. She's the one that I don't know what's going to happen. I mean, she's the one that many people are afraid she may not get the votes for. I will tell you, I am now changing my position. She may be the most important one out of all of Trump's nominees now because those who control the information control the narrative. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back.

Or you can find us on Spotify. I know we've gotten a little bit of feedback this week. We've had some issues with the podcast this week. There's just an IT issue. So that won't be long term. They're working through it. Daryl has a little update for us on that. Just an FYI, so today's show will be back on the podcast. Unfortunately, the only part of yesterday's show that I would be able to get on if I got anything on would be the

Final joke. And Randy, I've got about six minutes of yesterday's show that was managed to be caught. I almost put it up there just so there was something for people to listen to. A little bit of a joke there. But today... It is back. I just checked it. I can see the audio on there, so I will be able to upload today's podcast. All right. Awesome.

All right, let's see. Well, we started talking about the confirmation hearings that are going on right now in the Senate. So they've been going on, obviously, since Trump made his appointments. We've gotten eight people so far confirmed. Through the Senate, not every position has to be confirmed. Cabinet positions certainly have to be confirmed. But there are, gosh, I mean, there's probably like 1,500, 1,600 positions that will require some sort of Senate confirmation. So there's a lot.

But right now, obviously, the big eyes are on the confirmations for many of these cabinet-level positions this past week. You know, the Kash Patel one went through. Of course, he's being appointed as the director of the FBI. DNI, which is the Department of National Intelligence, that's Telsey Gabbard.

You know, Health and Human Services. We have RFK Jr. who has, look, he's gone through two days of grilling. I'd love to hear if you have seen any of these or if you care about any of these confirmation hearings. Which ones have caught your attention? I'm going to go to K.M. first, and let's see if I can pick her up. All right, good morning, ma'am. Good morning. I have to say I have never cared more.

than right now watching these hearings that i've never watched before it's so important and it's not our father's or grandfather's politics anymore it has changed and i feel now the weight has lifted and we have more of a voice, where before we couldn't talk on social media or talk in public without being, you know, side-glanced. Yeah.

Those that stopped the 40% tax, 40% raise for the assembly people was phenomenal. And the fact that they had enough nerve to make RFK Jr. promise that he wouldn't sue for money. The pharmaceutical, when I think it was Warren said that? Yeah. Yep. Nope, it was Warren. I was screaming. I was screaming at what I was watching because I couldn't believe the nerve. And they do insider trading and everything. They trade stocks all the time.

It's unbelievable. You know, I was looking at an article the other day. They were saying, okay, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, AOC, has been in Congress for now like two or three years, not very long. How does she, remember when she first got to Congress, there was this big sob story about how she couldn't even afford an apartment and she couldn't afford this and she couldn't afford that. She's making $155,000 right about there for a congressman.

And now all of a sudden her net worth is over $20 million in just like two or three years. How does that happen? Insider trading. Anybody else that works in the field, financial, would be fired and prosecuted. But they get away with it all the time. It's just the nerve of them is so upsetting. They are like on another plane above us and think they're beyond all of our laws.

It's unbelievable to me. You know, it's really interesting. You know, as we talk about RFK Jr., so obviously you watch those confirmation hearings. You know, I think RFK Jr. is one of those people that, look, he's a life. long democrat but i think he transcends political party because there's a lot of moms out there there's a lot of people out there that want to get to they want to make sure their family their their children are healthy and this whole make makeup healthy again

This movement transcends political party, and that's what we're seeing. We're seeing a lot of people that want to understand what's in our food, what's in the vaccines we're giving our kids. Why do we have such high rates of autism compared to? other countries why do we have chemo yeah

Why do we have chemicals in our food? You know, it's amazing because, you know, I have this article as we were talking. I was scrubbing, going through my emails for iHeartMedia, and I just got this one from Candice DeMattis. She is. the Vice President of Policy and Advocacy for Partnership to Fight Infectious Disease in support of RFK Jr. And it says right here, of their report, one of the key findings...

74% of American voters believe the U.S. should prioritize ensuring FDA approval vaccines are widely available. But it goes on to talk about, you know, the desires of the people to make sure they know what's in their food. in their vaccines. And this is why I say RFK Jr. is getting a lot of support across both sides because of the American people, not in Congress, but of the American people because people genuinely want to know what's in this stuff that they're ingesting.

We're unhealthy. We're a fat nation compared to the other countries. And it's because of our foods. They took the nutrition out. And the pharma that's blanketing and not... fixing the root of the issue and the root of the issue is usually our organs and everything and if we cleanse we'll be healthier but they don't tell you that

When you go to the doctor's office and you mention parasites are cleansing, they turn up their nose and they just want to give you a prescription. That needs to end. Every freaking commercial, only one's real. The rest are all pharma. Yeah, it's amazing. I mean, you know, I follow these English guys that go all across America, and one of the things they were talking about is they can't believe the number of, like, pharmaceutical commercials that are in.

the u.s. because that's not it's unheard of it's unheard of in england you don't have that kind of uh direct marketing campaign to people um but you know i think you're right i i have an audio clip i'm going to play of the rfk jr um exchange yesterday to your point about big pharma yeah yep just wait so calm he did a great job Yeah, he did a great job. As much attack they had, they were calm. And I have to say, I'm disappointed in Murkowski. She needs to go. Princess needs to go. Bye-bye.

I love it, KM. Thank you so much for calling this morning. Take care. All right, you too. Well, don't go anywhere, though, because I'm telling you, okay, this next audio clip, can we please cue up the RFK Jr.? Bernie Sanders exchange, Daryl.

Are you ready for that? Okay, let's go ahead and play that. This is RFK Jr. and Bernie Sanders in an exchange. And I love, listen to how he calls him Bernie. This is beautiful. I'm going to make America healthier than other countries in the world right now. Bill, you guarantee, do it every... Oh, the major country does. It's a simple question. And by the way, Bernie, the problem of corruption is not just in the federal agencies. It's in Congress, too.

Almost all the members of this panel are accepting, including yourself, are accepting millions of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry. Oh, no, no, no, no. And protecting their interests. Oh, I thought that that would... No, no, no, no. I ran for... president like you. I got millions and millions of contributions. They did not come from the executives, not one nickel of PAC money from the pharmaceutical industry. They came from workers.

In 2020, you were the single largest. Because I had four contributions. From workers all over this country. Workers. It's not a nickel from corporate tax. You are the single largest acceptor of pharmaceutical dollars. No, from workers in the industry. 1.5 million. Yeah, out of...

200 million. All right. But. All right. So no, no, no, no, no. I didn't take money from pharmaceuticals. But then it was like, wait, well, it was only 1.5 million out of 200 million. Did you notice that at the end? Only. But. when our rfk jr like he has as km said like he has been very calm He has been very rational. He has been debunking their nonsense as they go through. How can you argue with wanting to make America healthy again?

just look at pictures of Americans this day and age compared to the 50s and 60s you see these comparisons all the time where it's like oh they're at the beach in the 50s or 60s everybody kind of looks the same everybody looks pretty you know pretty pretty

lean you know and this day and age you go and you juxtapose people at the beach just this day and age and you know look it's a little different it's a little different and rfk junior is just saying we want to make america healthy again and this is the issue It's the same issue that got Trump elected, in that there are things that transcend political parties, right? Let's just say national security.

Not having to worry about going to the gas station and your 16-year-old, you know, getting, you know, abducted, getting, you know, sold into sex slavery of some sort, sex trafficked. or your kid, you know, dying of fentanyl, or, you know, getting your car stolen from some illegal alien that shouldn't even be here, dealing with a terrorist. Look, all these issues transcend political party.

When it comes to the voters, going to the store and buying your groceries when over in 2024 under the Biden administration, a 65 percent increase in the cost of eggs. All the Democrats now in Congress are worried about the cost of eggs. They didn't say squat. when their guy was in charge, didn't say squat. But now they're all worried about it. See, these are the things the American people care about.

The American people care about not being poisoned, right? They care about what's in their food. They care about what's in their vaccines. And he just called it out. And the best part about that clip is when he called him Bernie. He didn't even call him Senator Sanders. He's like, okay, Bernie. And he's like, yeah, what about all the money you've taken from Big Pharma? This is the same with Elizabeth Warren. You know, so when you see her go...

apoplectic about and trying to get RFK Jr. to commit to not suing the pharmaceutical companies, why would he do that? Look, if they're poisoning Americans and they deserve to be sued, they should be sued. Period. End of story. This is why I say there's a lot of political terror out there with Bernie Sanders wagging his finger and Earl Gale Jr. Daryl can see my imitation right now. He's laughing. And I'm cracking up in your ears.

I can't believe it, you know. Oh, my word. Vermont, what are you doing? What are you doing? I mean, this is the only place you'll see somebody who's like a socialist. Like, Bernie calls himself a socialist, right? Or is it a communist? I think he's more of a communist. He's a socialist. He's a socialist who needs a fourth home, I guess. I don't even know. But the reality is they're coming apoplectic because, again, if you dry up their money,

Or you take away their power. It's the only thing they care about in D.C., really, is money and power. And again, I mean, RFK Jr. went right in. went right in and brought it to him and it was beautiful. It was a thing of beauty. We're going to take a quick break. We'll come back with your calls. You're listening to live, local, and always insightful Morning Drive Radio with Amy Demboski on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Get on the show now by calling 907-522-7000.

All right, we're going to go straight to the phones. We're going to start with Tim. Good morning, sir. Good morning, Amy. How are you? I am well. How's your week? Have you been watching any of these hearings? Any thoughts? No, it's those stupid Democrats. All they do is shout and yell. There was a lot of that yesterday.

There was a lot. You know, I've got to tell you, after watching Kash Patel, I just got to the point where I'm like, these are kind of pointless, to be honest with you. It's all political theater. Yeah. Yeah. So the reason I called was I... A couple years ago, about a year and a half ago, I stumbled upon Lisa Murkowski's office in Wasilla. It's the Lakeview building. Oh, yeah.

And I don't know if anybody knew that. Somebody might have called in. So there was a note on the door. The light was on, but nobody was there. I forgive what the note said, but anyway, you couldn't have got a hold of it anyway. You know, I think there's a subliminal message there. The light is on, but nobody's home. Exactly. But what I would like to see, I'd like to see Lisa Murkowski...

investigated for her financials and her corrupt ties to George Soros and all those guys. She needs to be investigated. Pull her financials. You know, I gotta tell you, I gotta tell you, there's... you know i brought up aoc for example there's no there's no rational reason

how somebody, unless you won the Powerball, there's no rational reason how somebody can be making $155,000 a year, and then in three years, all of a sudden, as a public servant, mind you. This is not somebody who's invested in real estate. This is not somebody who...

has their own business. This is somebody who's making $155,000 a year-ish. Yeah. And all of a sudden, now in two or three years, now you're worth $20-something million. How is that possible? How is that possible? You know, and you look at Nancy. Pelosi stock trades right when you look at these people that go into public service and then all of a sudden they're worth multi-millions for what product are they producing to bake that money you know they're taking our money is what they're doing

That's what it seems like. Yep, for sure. Well, Tim, I appreciate the analogy this morning. Thank you for the call. All right. You're welcome. All right. Bye-bye. All right, well, we do want to point out there is, if you go to Lisa Murkowski's page, it's murkowski.senate.gov. When you see that at the bottom, there's a contact. Hit contact. And then you won't initially see the phone numbers. But if you...

Hit Office Locations. There's a little tab at the bottom that says Office Locations. As you roll over each one of those, there's individual phone numbers for each local office. So let me give you an example. The Anchorage office's phone number. is 907-271-3735. And then there's one for Fairbanks, Juneau, the Mat-Su, Saldana, Ketchikan. And then the DC office phone number is the one that we gave out earlier. That is 202. 224-6665.

So, again, if you just go to murkowski.senate.gov, click on Contact, and then scroll down to Office Locations, and you'll be able to find all the phone numbers there. All right, let's go to Larry. Good morning, sir. Good morning, Amy. You know, it comes down to your number one rule, and that is follow the money. Follow the money. Yep. I watched a whole bunch of confirmation stuff yesterday.

And I was going to play a bit of theater with you and ask you a complex question and say, yes or no. Yes or no. And they did it to Kash Patel and especially to... Tulsi Gabbard, and it is like, this kind of sums it up for me. Between RFK, Kash Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard, You have, and I do love that RFK referred to Bernie as, hey, Bernie. I know, it's great. They know him well. They know him well, and they know Tulsi well, and they both...

jump to the other side. But this kind of sums it up. It's like three honest people walking into a den of thieves, and they are pooping their pants. Because it's, look, the biggest crime that Tulsi and RFK have done is they switch sides. Why? Because they saw their side as unhinged and crazy. And when they call out corruption on both sides, like RFK Jr., he doesn't care if you're a Republican or Democrat. He's going to talk about, like, why do we have these autism rates?

What is in the vaccines? What is in the food? Let's make America healthy. Like, all of a sudden, if it disrupts their money flow, this is a problem for them, right? And Tulsi, if it disrupts their power and their influence, i.e., illegal... intelligence information being gathered against Americans, she's going to have a problem with it. Again, if you disrupt their power or their money, boy are they, oh, they're coming. It's apoplectic in D.C. right now.

Oh, yeah. The Senator Bennett from Colorado, he was as embarrassing, if not more embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for both of them. My friend says that, is it Hironi or Hirono? He uses the very unpolite term of being mentally handicapped. And I hadn't listened to her much, but she's an idiot. And Senator Bennett from Colorado, it does make you think it's political theater. It seems to be a lesson or a test in endurance.

to have people behave insanely, inappropriately, yelling, interrupting, yes or no, yes or no, if you can't say yes or no, it seems to be a lesson in... endurance for the nominees. to not lose their cool because I would jump up and slap these people. I'm telling you, you know, and this is what we've seen over and over again. They have had, we call it military bearing, right, when we were in the military. It was military bearing, you know, no matter who's screaming.

you yelling at you you just don't lose it you just you maintain your composure And I've watched Kash Patel. I watched Tulsi. I didn't see a ton of her hearing, but I saw bits and pieces. But, look, she's a lieutenant colonel. She can handle these people. She used to be in Congress. She knows the game.

Again, I've watched them, and every one of Trump's nominees, none of them have been rattled so far. Even Pete Hegseth. If you watched his hearings, he just kept together. They're going to scream. They're going to yell. I mean, did you see, by chance, the exchange with... Ash Patel and Adam Schiff. Oh, yeah. What a weasel. What a weasel. It's unbelievable. I look at Adam Schiff. First of all, I think the guy's committed treason. I believe the guy to be unethical. I believe the guy to...

have coordinated and it'd be way too close with the CCP. I think Adam Schiff cannot be trusted. Adam Schiff clearly, with the whole Hunter Biden laptop thing, he clearly lied. He clearly knew it when he was on the

committee. Again, the guy can't be trusted at all. If his lips are moving, he's lying. That's my perspective. A rule of thumb for when you're meeting a crazy person is If you can see not only the whites on each side of their eye, but above and below where their eyes are bulging, and you can see above and below in a clear circle of white around their irises. there's a good chance they are unhinged.

Well, I will tell you, Adam Schiff was losing his mind yesterday. I mean, he was trying to be, you know, fanciful. I mean, to me, this is a guy who we know has leaked intelligence. We know this is a guy who's lied about it. We know this is a guy that...

Number one, I said this years ago. I thought his security clearances should all be stripped. I do not think he should be able to have a security clearance. And, frankly, there is a discussion about, you know, shift potentially. You know, he would be. I don't think politicians.

in D.C. will ever do it. But I think he should be expelled from the Senate for the crimes that he's committed. And you look at it and you say, well, Amy, what crimes is he's committed? Well, explain to me why he got a pardon. Absolutely. You know, I mean... There we go. There's a certain point where cuts. Thank you, Amy. Love the show. Have a good day. All right. Thanks, Larry. We're going to go ahead and take a quick break. We'll be right back.

Amy Demboski, 6 to 8, mornings, on News Radio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back, current time, 738. So apparently the topic du jour today is confirmation hearings. Right now, Trump's card is looking good. The bingo card is looking good so far. We have Secretary of State, Treasury. Defense, Interior, DOT, Department of Homeland Security, EPA, CIA have all been confirmed thus far. Kash Patel, Director of the FBI, was in front of the Senate Judiciary yesterday.

Tulsi Gabbard, she was the Office of...

National Intelligence, she went through her confirmation yesterday. RFK Jr., Health and Human Services went through a couple days of testimony, and I think they all have performed very, very well. But my major take... away when I look at these confirmation hearings and I will tell you I went down the rabbit hole last night and I watched like five hours of Kash Patel because this is the one I was been I've been most excited about and it just got to the point where it was just

you know what it came down to to me i realized these confirmation hearings are they're a show it's a circus everybody's trying to score their points at the end of the day you either have the votes or you don't I don't know that your performance in these, I mean, if you tank and you do terrible, you're probably going to get pulled. I think back to Joe Biden's nominee for the FAA.

who literally had no real experience in aviation and couldn't answer any questions, he performed so poorly, he ultimately ended up getting pulled. But this is my point. is I think if you do your due diligence and you whip the votes, you go and speak to each one of these senators, you've got to count your chit sheet, right? That's what they call it in Juneau, the chit sheet. You've got to go through and you've got to count your votes. You've got to whip your votes.

And as you whip your votes, then you... you know you either have the votes or you don't and in cash patel's case he performed so well and i think you know at the end of the day it's going to be very hard to vote against him if you're an honest in a person at the because why He's very well qualified for that position. Nobody yesterday attacked his qualifications. You know what they talked about over and over and over again? They talked about what he said on podcasts.

or they talked about a song. I didn't even know what this song was, Daryl. I had no idea what they were talking about. The January 6th song? Something about the January 6th choir? I mean, see, Dill's even going over and over and over again. They're talking about this January 6th choir. I don't know. You know, you produced it. He's like, I didn't produce it. Now.

He may have promoted it, I don't know, or whatever, but somehow they talked about raising money for families of people that were impacted. So basically he's like, yes, my nonprofits. raise money for families and for, you know, scholarships for children or parents who have been incarcerated. I mean, that's what was my takeaway.

Okay, I just looked this up, so I had not heard anything about this. Here's their Wikipedia one on it. Remember, Wikipedia can be altered and changed, but it basically says that it's the justice for all song. It is a charity record recorded by the 45th and 47th United States President Donald Trump and the J6 Prison Choir, a choir of about 20 men imprisoned for their involvement in the January 6th United States Capitol.

The profits from this song are dedicated to the legal aid of people incarcerated for the attack. So, but they were, this was a huge part of their attack on Kashmir Dell. You know, and it was interesting because Mike Lee, he's a senator from Utah. He was sensational, by the way, in this hearing. But one of the Democrat senators, like, took this tiny little snippet of Kash Patel. So he's basically, did you ever say this?

And Cash is like, what context? I don't know what context you're talking about. I mean, imagine if somebody parsed half of one of your sentence ever and said, did you ever say this? Cash was like. Like, what are you talking about? Like, I don't think you're talking about something in context. And then Mike Lee comes back, and he actually had the full quote, and he was talking about everything applicable to law, and it was a reference to the UCMJ.

Right. That's what it was a reference to. And when Mike Lee pulled the full quote, then it was like, oh, that makes sense that, you know, soldiers should be held, you know, in account and consistent with the UCMJ. You know, when you hear it in full context like that, you're like, yeah, what's the big deal? Anybody who served in the military knows there's a Uniform Code of Military Justice, right? That's what the UCMG is.

So everybody knows military soldiers are held to a higher standard. There is a code of conduct for the military. And when you hear that, like, yes, soldiers should be held to account.

Because it consistent with UCMJ you're like what's the big deal? But when they totally like parse that last part and make it sound like soldiers should just be you know prosecuted that's what they made it sound like because they didn't listen to Donald Trump or something like that it's like that's not at all what he was talking about that's not what he was saying and so

It's really interesting to me when I listen to it, but Cash Patel did a great job. I have an audio clip from him. I want to go ahead and play that. So this is Cash Patel, and what he's really talking about is what his focusing goals are going to be for the FBI should he be... confirmed as the director of the fbi thank you senator i really appreciate it and the two themes that if i'm confirmed that i have for the fbi are really just going back to keeping it simple one let good cops be cops

100,000 drug overdoses, 100,000 rapes, 17,000 homicides. That's only what 70% of the precincts reporting in. That is violent crime exploding out of control. We've got 38,000 employees at the FBI.

As I alluded to earlier, a third of them, almost a third of them work in and around the Washington, D.C. area. Well, those crimes are committed out in the rest of America. And I'm going to let good cops be cops and put handcuffs on the bad guys and put child molesters in prison and put murderers in prison and make sure. CCP fentanyl doesn't kill another one of your constituents. That's track one. Track two, to restore the trust in the FBI.

That has degraded, not by my opinion, by the Gallup poll, that only 40% of Americans have trust and faith in the FBI. It is a cataclysmic failure in leadership to get to that point that did not happen over time. FBI must do while tackling violent crime and protecting Americans' national security and our sovereignty is work with Congress, Republicans and Democrats.

to expose any government corruption, provide government accountability through transparency and get you all the documents that you are the custodians of. The FBI reports to Congress. If I am confirmed as FBI director, I will report to Congress. And I will just save you with this one caveat here about my personal experiences with the FBI. The men and women of the FBI do the most courageous work on God's green earth.

I was fortunate enough to utilize FISA 702 national security measures to prevent a shopping mall from blowing up in Houston and the state capitol from being attacked in California. courageous men and women do that work every day and these are cases you never hear about instead the only things you hear about are the baseless conspiracy theories and attacks levied at me well here's something for america you can say whatever you want about

If I'm confirmed, bring it on. But you will not denigrate the men and women of the FBI that saved this country. Amen. All right, so Kash Patel is clearly pro-cop, right? He's clearly pro-cop. And in that, he lays out, you know, this is exactly what my goals are going to be. This is what I expect, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So he kind of goes into all of that. And, you know, that doesn't sound like somebody to me that's going to be zealous.

that's going to persecute political rivals. It sounds to me somebody who's focused on the mission of law enforcement, which is get the bad guys. That's what it sounds to me like. Get the bad guys. And he was consistent in that over and over and over. They kept going back to the book he wrote, which I thought was fantastic, by the way. It's called Government Gangsters. If you haven't read it, I recommend you read it. Because Kash Patel was the lead investigator, the one that...

exposed the whole Russian dossier nonsense that was funded by, you know, Hillary Clinton's campaign in the DNC. He's the one that exposed it. This is why they're going apoplectic over Kash Patel, because they know he's honest. They know he knows what he's doing. As a federal prosecutor, he spent years in the intel community prosecuting terrorists. He was chief of staff at the DOD. The guy knows what he's doing.

He spent years and years. They can't say he's not qualified. He's absolutely qualified. The only problem in D.C. is he's honest. That's the biggest problem. That is a big problem for D.C. For them. Right. So then so they're looking at it and they're going to. They're going to lose their minds. So, you know, again, I just go back to let's judge people on what they do. And the question for the Senate is, is this person qualified to do this job? That's the question for the Senate.

Unlike Biden's FAA nominee who knew nothing about aviation, Kash Patel knows a whole lot about law enforcement. He knows a whole lot about the intelligence agencies because why he worked within them. He knows a whole lot, and that's the problem for D.C. That is the biggest problem. All right, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. We have one more segment left. If you'd like to call in, be part of the show, 522-0650.

Welcome back to live, local, and insightful Morning Drive Radio on News Radio 650 KENI. Welcome back, current time, 7.52. On this glorious Friday morning, I don't know, Daryl, did you ever see, there was a fervor on social media about ICE agents in Juneau. Oh, God, yes. Fib, fib, fib. Fib, fib, fib. Juneau has now put out, had to put out, the Juneau Police Department has now put out a statement saying that's not true. We don't have law enforcement. We don't have ICE agents in Juneau.

The Alaska Public Media has the article out right now. June officials say rumors about detained tribal citizens are unsubstantiated. We talked about this a little bit earlier in the week. But now rumors have been circulating on social media that U.S. immigration...

and Customs Enforcement ICE have detained tribal citizens in Juneau. Not true. The city borough of Juneau has talked about the speculation, and the Juneau Police Department Deputy Chief came out and said in an email that the department has received calls asking about ICE presence in Juneau, but they haven't received any reports of Juneau residents.

detained. He said federal agencies not stationed in Juneau will usually notify the department when they're in Juneau. He asked residents to inform JPD if they encounter ICE officers in town, but that this is not true. Don't fret. Again, I go back to this. ICE isn't rounding up Alaska Natives. It's not a thing. It is not a thing. So everybody just...

Take a chill pill. Trying to stir the racist card. I know. I know. It's crazy. All right. Let's go to the phones. And Bob is with us. Good morning, Bob. Good morning, folks. I just wanted to throw an idea in that. I share your elation over the apparent developments across the board with elections and selections and whatnot, but I'm worried that we're getting distracted from problems near at hand.

I would just like to ask you, Amy, if you know, having been close to the city, how does a person volunteer to help like the Anchorage Police Department or even fire? Other first responders, which are going to be way overtaxed in the event that we have a big disaster or a big terrorist attack, big earthquake. How can I go and...

help the manning of the police department? Is there somebody I can call? They don't have a reserve force anymore. The first place I would start, especially if it's with the police department, the first place I would start is look into their Citizens Academy.

because they will go through the Citizens Academy. They will bring a number of people to go through the Citizens Academy. You'll learn about the police department, but that's one of the first places you can actually get involved. They do have a chaplain's resource.

that want to volunteer with the police department. They also embed them with the fire department so when events happen, those chaplain services are on call. Those are one area that you can, but they don't have a Citizens Reserve Force anymore. So I would say the best... place to start is call APD. You could just call their switchboard or you can look them up online and start with the Citizens Academy because that will get you connected with those that do type of kind of public outreach.

That's probably the best place to start, but they don't have, like, a volunteer, like, oh, I just want to go volunteer at the police department and file papers. That doesn't exist right now. No ride-along or anything like that? You can do ride-alongs, yes. You can absolutely do ride-alongs. So, in fact, we had one... It was amazing. When I was a city manager, we had a ride-along, a military guy that was riding along with APD.

And you can do a ride-along. You can contact them, and as a citizen, you can absolutely do a ride-along right now. But when we talk about assisting and helping them, really people that are doing ride-alongs, you can do them with the troopers too, by the way. People that are doing ride-alongs. As long as you're really there just to observe, you're not there to help or do anything like that. But we had a military guy that assisted, and the police officer actually got shot.

During his ride-along and it was a military member that was the ride-along E. who actually was able to stabilize his leg and, you know, pack the wound. And actually, he was super successful. He was super helpful in saving that police officer's life. Battles for trauma.

Yeah, yeah. So, Bob, that is one way. I would just call APD's main number. If you just call 311, you'll be able to get information on how to be a ride-along if you want to do that. All right, that does it for Daryl and I for today. It's been a great week. I hope everybody has an opportunity.
