The opinions expressed on the show are those of the host and not of iHeartMedia or its employees. Thank you for listening to NewsRadio 650, Katie and I. Amy Demboski, the show starts now. Our lines are open at 907-522-0650. This is The Morning Drive on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Good morning. It is Wednesday, January 8th, 2025. 12 days. I don't have the countdown ticker in front of me, but 12 days until President Trump. is sworn into office
It doesn't happen at noon, Daryl. So the swearing in, I'm not sure what time exactly it starts at. I do know my ticker, I do believe, counts down to midnight of that morning. And it's 11 days, 13 hours, 52 minutes, and... Four seconds. Oh, I love it. I love it. You know, I got to tell you, I am ready. It cannot happen fast enough. Let's let the adults come back in charge.
Bring on 47. I'm so excited about this. I can't even stand that. So there's two ways you can look at this countdown. It's either a countdown to Trump's inauguration or it's a countdown until this nightmare ends and the new dream starts. Look, one and the same to me. Let's make America great again. Let's do it. Not only America, I've got to tell you, basically Western civilization.
Okay, we're using a civilization word nowadays. I'm starting to wonder for some of these places. The Western world, let's just say that. There we go, Western world. I'll deal with that one. Yeah, no doubt about it. Well, weather-wise, I don't know how you're feeling out there in Anchorage right now. Now in Palmer, it's 35 degrees.
Well, we got you beat by a little bit, so it's 37 here in Anchorage. But a little weird twist to that, and for all of you who might be getting ready to get onto the roads, it never dropped below freezing last night. So it was 40 degrees most of the night, dropped down to the 30s here in the last couple of hours. But the roads have got ice on them.
So a lot of that water that was out there, I expect this morning it to be either dry or just water. My brake checks, I broke free at least three times during my brake checks. So I'm looking at it going, well, it looks like it's shiny, but no, that was definitely slippery. So do be careful. out there, a lot of the roads did freeze up. Well, I had no issues. I was actually quite surprised. The roads out here by my house are great.
Fantastic. I had no issues yesterday at all. I know a lot of places, especially neighborhoods, side roads. You know, Chugack, Eagle River, and Anchorage were really, really icy. So, yeah, do be careful. We've taken a quick preview of schools across the area, and ASD and the Mat-Su Borough both have school today.
looking at ASD's website now. It says all ASD schools will be open today, Wednesday, January 8th. Please anticipate some bus delays as our transportation department may be putting chains on tires for some routes. Please follow bus safety and commuter safety expectations. Yeah, whatever that means. But so, of course, because of that slippery condition that you talked about, Darrell, it may be a little bit icy.
Yeah, like I said, and the side roads now, the back streets, I still have not seen a wisp of sand, except for the sand and gravel that I personally threw down on my road. But other than that, and that was accidental, I was sanding my own driveway and a little overspray there. I was worried because, you know.
The city of Anchorage is really, really big on you not throwing anything in their road. No snow, no nothing. I was worried me throwing some sand out there. I might get ticketed or something. So, you know. Hopefully not. I call that community participation. That's when I throw my snow out there. That's what I call it. But I sure don't like that. Yeah, I don't know.
All right. Well, let's get into some of our public meetings. There's not a ton. There are a few out here in the Mat-Su borough. I tried to give you a preview yesterday of Wednesday because, you know, I was a little bit ahead of myself. Today, Wednesday, January 9th, we do have a few meetings out here in the borough. If you live in Talkeetna, the Talkeetna Sewer and Water Service Area Board of Supervisors is meeting at 1 o'clock at the library in Talkeetna.
The South Colony Road Service Area Board of Supervisors is meeting at 2 p.m. at the conference room. I'm looking here. It says, I'm looking. It says conference room 203, so it doesn't say anything other than that. It just says conference room 203. At 3.30, the Midway Road Service Area Board of Supervisors has a conference room at the O&M Conference Room, 420 South Industrial Way in Palmer.
The Gateway Community Council's meeting for tonight has been canceled, so that's not happening. The Meadow Lakes Community Council does have their meeting tonight at 7 p.m. And they meet at the Meadowlake Senior Housing Building there at 1210 North Kim Drive in Wasilla. The Chickaloon Community Council also has their meeting tonight. They meet at the Chickaloon Community Center. That will be at 7 again tonight.
And last but not least, our friends in Willow, the Willow Area Community Organization, has their meeting this evening, 7 p.m., at the Willow Community Center. If you want more information on any of these meetings out in the Mat-Su borough, Just go to matsugov.us, and you'll find it there. I did double-check Wasilla and Palmer. I don't see any meetings for today for either of those.
places so we'll skip on over to anchorage there are a couple boarding commission meetings tonight for anchorage there's an election commission meeting today at 10 a.m That will be down at their election headquarters building, which is down off of Ship Creek. It's 619 East Ship Creek. And if you just go in door D, that's where you'll find the meeting. That's at 10 a.m.
Board of Directors also has a meeting on Wednesday, which is today, January 8th at noon, at their building, 3000 Arctic Boulevard. And then the hand commission has their meeting tonight or this afternoon, actually. It's 4 o'clock. That will be at the health department building. which is located at E25 L Street in the conference room on the fourth floor. So just go up to the fourth floor if you want to attend that meeting.
And the Urban Design Commission meeting for tonight has been canceled. So that really rounds it out. Now, Daryl, I didn't watch the Anchorage Assembly meeting last night, but they do have on their calendar a continuation of their regular Assembly meeting.
from last night starting tonight at 6 p.m. So they must not have got through all their business. Wow. So I haven't got to watch it either, but I did pull it up. I've got it sitting here waiting. If I get any chance today, I'm going to watch it. I was too busy last night to deal with it. So we'll see what they did. They had beyond next.
amount of things last night on there. Yeah. It doesn't entirely surprise me to have a continuation meeting because they have to solidify all of their ballot questions. by the end of the month. They have a certain number of days before the election that they have to have all their ballot questions done.
So any bond propositions that you want to put in front of the voters, you have to have it done, which means it has to be introduced prior to actually. Usually you can't take action on the same day that they introduce it. So it's either. if they didn't get all their work done, a continuation meeting or a special meeting to get it done. So it doesn't entirely surprise me. I didn't watch the meeting last night, so I don't know how far ahead.
you know how far through their agenda they got but it is publicly noticed to have a continuation today if you want more information just go to muni.org click on the assembly tab and you'll be able to find the agenda there and also if you have questions you can just call the municipal clerk's office
and they will answer any questions that you have relating to the meeting. As far as the Kenai Peninsula Borough goes, we do have a couple meetings for KPB today. The Resilience and Security Advisory Commission has their meeting tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.
They do have a Zoom link for this meeting. If you have questions, just go to the website, kpb.us, and you'll be able to... find all the information there the nakiski fire service area board also has a meeting tonight from 6 to 8 pm at nakiski fire station number one and last but not least the western emergency service area board has a meeting from 6 to 8 pm
This evening, and if you would like to attend, it's at 15727 Kingsley Road in Nilnilchik. Again, for more information on any of these meetings in the Kenai Peninsula borough, just go to KPB. Kenai Peninsula Bureau, so kpb.us. As far as the city of Kenai goes, the only thing I see on your calendar today is a Kenai Planning and Zoning Commission regular meeting that's going to start at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall, which is, of course, located at 210 Fidalgo Avenue in Kenai.
information just go to Kenai.city and you'll be able to find the information there. The city of Saldana has a meeting this evening. Their meeting is going to be a council meeting. It's going to be, of course, in the council chambers in Saldotna, and it starts at 6 p.m.
If you'd like to see their agenda and more information about that meeting, just go to sylvana.org and you'll be able to find it there. I didn't see any meeting today for the city of Homer, so you guys are clear. That really does it for our public announcements for today. If you know of something that's going on that people should know about or if it's just something fun, we're always happy to plug either. All you have to do is give us a call. The number to call, 522-0650.
We're going to go ahead and take our first break of the morning. And when we come back, we are going to get into the headlines of the day. Stay with us. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back, Current Time 619. You know, the deep state, the lefties, they're doing the best they can. They're doing the best they can to impede, obstruct, leak, whatever you want to call it, the Trump administration before they come in. Now the headline, Daryl, that's popping is...
DOJ to release part of Jack Smith's report. No, wait a second. They just said yesterday they were not releasing it. Actually, it wasn't them. It was the judge said no. You're not releasing that report. I literally, that's the headline right now on Fox. I have Fox up live as I'm watching it. And the headline that flashed across is DOJ to release part.
Of Jack Smith's report. And knowing that this DOJ is going to be the bad part. Yeah. Yeah, any time. Look, here's the thing. Jack Smith is, you know, again, another TDS person, Tom Derangement Syndrome. Like. He's a hack. He is a political hack. There's just no doubt about it in my view. And, you know, look, it's just like the January 6th report that came out of Nancy Pelosi's little committee. You know, again.
Do you think anybody's going to really do you think it's going to sway the American people in any way, shape or form? To be honest, no, but it'll give all the ones who already hate Trump that. Oh, kind of like Judge Bershon. Well, look, he was convicted and he's been sentenced.
Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, it's just white noise to me. So, you know, but that's what we're going to see. I mean, for the next two weeks until this is over with, that's what we're going to see. Anyways, going back. Let's switch gears for a minute. You know, I don't know how many times I say this, but play stupid games, win stupid prizes. We have two examples of this, one in Wasilla yesterday and one in Anchorage.
Let's just start with the one in Wasilla. This is coming out of the ADN. Man shot and killed following attempted break-in near Wasilla. A 38-year-old man was shot and killed at a home in Wasilla following the string of attempted break-ins on Sunday night, according to troopers. Emile Hampton was pronounced dead at a house in Meadow Lakes just west of Osceola, according to troopers. Troopers responded to the area around 10.30 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a suspicious male acting erratically.
While AST was responding, the complainant reported that a shot had been fired striking a suspicious male, end quote. Multiple callers reported Hampton, quote, attempting to enter vehicles and buildings on their properties prior to him being shot. end quote that according to trooper spokesman Tim Despain troopers
responded to those calls, but Hampton fled before they could contact him. Asked if Hampton was shot by a homeowner during an active break-in, Despain said the circumstances of the shooting are part of an ongoing investigation and everyone involved is cooperating. Again, you break into somebody's house. It is not an unexpected result, especially in Alaska, that you might get shot. I was going to say, what's the word you like to use? Pew, pew.
Yeah, exactly. The pew-pew may be coming out, and it may be not good for you, you. You like that, Daryl? I did, I did. Mustard, Alaska also has another story up. Anchorage police shoot armed robber in Midtown yesterday. Anchorage police reported an officer-involved shooting at the 500 block of Northern Lights shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday. A male suspect was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after an officer who responded to an armed robbery in progress.
fired five to eight rounds at the man who refused to follow police commands and attempted to flee. the suspect was stopped by two of the bullets that struck his upper body the incident happened at a business where the suspect is believed to have bound a woman with tape on her wrists and across her mouth the suspect who had a gun was breaking into the ATM at the business.
According to Mustry, Alaska, a source who was on the scene, they said there was an enormous police response, felt like the entire on-duty shift. They closed Northern Lights, end quote. The name of the suspect and the officer involved in the shooting will be released in the coming days, according to Police Chief Sean Case. He also said the incident was captured on the officer's body cams, but portions were obscured.
One week into 2025, this is the first APD officer-involved shooting. You know what I learned from that? What? Just quickly there is that if you flee, they're going to find out what makes you tick. A little buggy joke there. Buggy joke. Look, I mean, here's the thing. When I read this last night, and I kind of put this in my show prep outline, I was thinking, God. Am I just really a hardcore pro-justice person? Because I have no sympathy for the people that were shot. No?
You know, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. At the end of the day, if you were going to choose to threaten somebody, like this guy, breaks into a business. Bounds a woman with her, you know, he basically ties her up, gags her. I mean, he's armed with a handgun. You never know. Like, at this point, you have to assume you... you could very likely be killed. Yeah, you had terror instilled in you. Absolutely. You could absolutely assume you're being threatened with a gun. You're bound.
I mean, I have no problem that APD shot this guy. I don't care that APD shot this guy when he was running away. The reality is he had already assaulted somebody to the point of I'm sure instilling fear that she thought she might be shot. And if he gets away, he was to say he's not going to do it again. And that's right there. I've seen some comments in some of the other stuff out there of, well, they obviously shot him running away. So did they shoot him in the back?
Um, you guys, he has a gun. He threatened somebody. He threatened the police. So just because he turned away from you, you're not going to take down your threat? Makes no sense to me. And the reality is I've seen a number of these police-involved shooting, not specifically Anchorage, but police-involved shooting videos online.
And it is not unusual when somebody is pointing a gun at the police officer. In a split second, the officer shoots and the person turns. It is not unusual for, like, the eye, the brain. and the hand to kind of have like a little bit of a lag, it can still very well be a justified shooting even if the person's shot in the back. I mean, that's the reality of how the mind and the body and the reaction time works. You know, the person can still.
absolutely be a threat have been pointing a gun and then just turned and at that split second the officers were shooting and it hit him in the back well and for me so okay so that's quote justification but when it comes right down to it if you've got a gun
and you are a threat, just because you've turned away from me does not nullify your threat. That does not nullify the threat, okay? I agree. That just means you're changing position on me, maybe getting even a better position. No, I am going to continue with my... site pattern, and that's that, you know? Until I don't, yeah.
I was going to say, until I deem you're not a threat anymore. Exactly. Well, the other thing is, Midtown is starting to become really dangerous. We've had this robbery here. Just the other day, there was a woman who had her windows broken on her brand new business, and they robbed her. And they've got, quote, partial video of it, but Spenard Midtown, it's starting to get really dangerous through this area.
Well, you know, I've got to tell you, I mean, this is why I absolutely believe we need even more stringent criminal justice reform. And it's a three-part, right? You can pass all the laws you want, but if they don't have the... prosecutors to actually prosecute the cases. I mean, one of the really untold stories of 2024 were how many cases, and this didn't
I know everybody's going to want to blame LaFrance, but this started under the Bronson administration with how many cases were being discharged and not brought to trial because they didn't have the prosecutors to prosecute them. This is why the governor stepped in.
said no wait a second the department of law started helping prosecute some municipal you know crimes um But I think that is probably the biggest unsung story, you know, one that people just aren't talking about, is in the municipality of Anchorage, how many crimes just went unprosecuted because... They didn't have the lawyers to prosecute the cases. So now you said...
spoken story or one that people hadn't heard. So the thing is, that's the common people. I will guarantee you the criminals and the bad actors, all new specifically. I can't even get away with that. Are you kidding? I've been charged to drop three times already. Yeah, go. Go ahead, man. We may not have heard about it, but I guarantee you the criminals absolutely had.
Yeah, I was going to say, I think it is a big problem. And it is one that you can have all the criminal justice reform you want. You can have all the strong laws you want. But if you have...
And administration, for whatever reason, just doesn't prosecute those crimes, whether it's staffing issues or whether it's out of choice. The fact of the matter is... the laws on the books aren't going to make a difference and i think you know and i think this is something that anchorage has certainly suffered from and it's one it's a story that has really been on you know
under-emphasized but it is a big issue and it needs to be addressed and so we'll hopefully hopefully 2025 will be a better year for that all right let's go to the phones and tom is with us good morning tom Tom, are you there? Good morning. I'm here. I'm here. What's on your mind this morning? Oh, identity politics. Identity politics. I think you brought that up yesterday, too. So what specifically are you thinking about? Well, are you a Republican or a Democrat?
I am a conservative Republican. I want to clarify that right now. So you stand on the side of the right side. I think I do. Yes, I think I do. Me too. Yeah, I tend to be a constitutionalist. I tend to be, you know, really limited governments. You know, I don't think the government should be everything to everybody. I think there's a limited role for the government to play, but an important role. But I don't think they need to tax and spend the way they do. That's a big issue for me.
Yeah, it's taxes, right? Yeah, spending. I've got to tell you. You know, they rob a lot of Alaskans and Americans of their hard-earned money, and they dole it out to their friends and special interests, and I have a problem with that. On a large scale, I think the government is way too in everybody's business. I think they're too big. Oh, my goodness. I will agree. You know what? I spent more on literally all that I have spent.
Well, taxes are, you know, I just wrote a couple tax checks to the borough a couple weeks ago. I will tell you, I think the borough does a pretty good job of keeping it in balance. I think they are better with my money than when I lived in Anchorage. I think Anchorage, you know. They see taxing and spending and borrowing as the norm, and they do as much of it as they possibly can, and that's just a different mentality than I have. I don't have that mentality.
Well, you know, Tom, I know it's, I picked you up late into this segment, but I have to hit a commercial. Do you have any parting thoughts before we go to commercial? You're like me. And actually, you're your family. Love you, girl. All right. Have a great Wednesday. Great talking to you. All right. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. Reach out to Amy now, 907-522-0650. That's 907-522-0650. It's Amy Demboski on NewsRadio 650, KENI.
You know, Daryl, as we have time to kind of digest, and now we're at January 8th. It's always interesting to me because, you know, we had the airwaves before everybody else. Like, we're the first show of the morning. So what you get from us is, you know, we look at the news about 8 o'clock the night.
before is when I start really going through the news stories because I want the most fresh stories what we can see you know what's popping and then I get up in the morning ridiculously early and I start looking to see you know what's popping on the headlines and sometimes I'll I'll scrap my whole show prep to go with something that is just fresh. And so we don't really have time.
We don't even have the ability, because it hasn't happened yet, to hear all these other commentators comment on the stories that we talk about in the morning, oftentimes until sometimes a couple days later or the day after we'll listen to them and then we'll comment on what they say. But for the most part, it's kind of like our own, you know, analysis. You know, just fresh. Sometimes they agree with us. Sometimes they don't. It's okay. But, you know, when January 6th came.
And my dear friend texted me, happy insurrection day, sarcastically, of course. You know, I have been on this bandwagon for a long time. January 6th of 2021 was not an insurrection. Hard stop. was not an insurrection. There was no armed attempt to take over the Capitol and to overthrow the U.S. government.
People were absolutely protesting. There's no doubt about it. And some were trespassing. Some destroyed property. But it wasn't like an armed rebellion. In fact, Capitol Police officers in some areas, you can see... them on video, standing there kind of with their hands in their vest or their pockets, at one point fist bumping somebody, opening the door for other people. And you have people that are still in prison to this day.
Dating to January 6th, I watched a video of a woman yesterday. Her husband is locked up, and she was saying, I've got to pull her name, but her husband is locked up. He hasn't been brought to trial, but he's been in prison for two years now. How is that even constitutional? That's not even constitutional. You have a right to a speedy trial. I mean, let's just start with the basics. That's somebody's lawyer going, oh, we can put it off. Oh, we can put it off. Not caring that that person is in.
jail and she was saying she's not even allowed to visit him and again you have people You have people that have been convicted of murder and rape and all these other things that are, I mean, far worse than anything that happened on January 6th, except for maybe the murder of Ashley Babbitt. But let's put that aside. Oh, but they're praising him.
Yeah, let's put that aside. A man who, an officer who kills an unarmed woman who wasn't even attacking anybody. She was crawling through a window. But anyways, so, you know, as we think about January 6th, and my comments on Monday were... it was not an insurrection i mean at most it was a protest and people some people were trespassing and destroyed some property and i'm not even talking about like what happened during the black lives matter riots and they were burning down buildings it was
Nothing like that. And, you know, it's just when I hear people, the first time I realized January 6th was something to the lefties. I can't even believe this. Like, I looked at him like he was insane. I was at the Anchorage Assembly, and Chris Constant made a comment. about how January 6th was the darkest day in our history or something to that effect. I can't remember his exact words. But I looked at him like he was nuts because I'm thinking,
Hang on a second. Like, are you kidding me right now? Like, 9-11. I mean, Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor. The assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. Ruby Ridge! That's a good one. In my mind, all these things popped in my head. And I looked at him and I was like... What the heck? And I'm doing my best not to swear, Daryl, but I'm like, what the heck are you talking? That's when I realized the nut jobs that are on the left.
Right? So now today, as I've had time to digest, and we've had a couple days where people have commented on January 6th, right? They've commented on it. Because now the day has come. And I'm like, okay. whatever um close this ad i don't want to see this ad no no i do not want to see this ad
Oh, I can do ads for you if you want. I know. What bothered me about the January 6th right now, and this is what's happening these last two days, and I may steal your thunder here. Yeah, don't steal my thunder, Daryl. Has it got anything to do with the deaths of people? Oh, I don't know, but here, let me start this, and then you can opine.
Daily Call article, from attacking Trump voters to making the Holocaust comparisons, here's how Dems reacted to the January 6th anniversary. Democrats on Monday made their rounds on the fourth anniversary of January 6th. January 6, 2021 incident at the Capitol as they discussed, compared, and made bizarre claims about the day. Sonny Hostin, because I know you love watching The View, Daryl. Sonny Hostin.
She compares January 6th to the Holocaust in World War II. On ABC's The View Monday morning, co-host Sunny Hostin said January 6th, 2021, event at the capitol was one of the quote the worst days in american history and and then she goes on to say world war ii things that happened like the holocaust and chattel slavery because past becomes prologue if you forget any race, end quote. What the heck? I mean, okay.
okay so i had to pull the data because i was like all right all right all right let's actually pull the data So this is from Statista.com, static. So what I'm looking for is actually statistics. Estimated number of victims of the Holocaust and Nazi crimes against humanity during the Second World War from 1933 to 1945. hit about 17 million in total, right? We're talking there was about 7 million Jews that were murdered. There were about 5.7 million Soviet citizens.
There are about 2.9 million Soviet prisoners of war. Non-Jewish Poles, 1.8 million. I mean, the number goes on and on. When we just talk about the Jewish number, now I'm going to go to Britannica. because I think this is really helpful to think. And think about this. Again, this idiot on The View is comparing January 6th, where the only person that died was a Trump supporter who was unarmed in a field.
She was the only person who died on January 6th, and she was shot by a Capitol Police officer. And mind you, again, she was unarmed and not threatening anyone. When we look at the Nazi death camps, there was about a million people that it's estimated were killed at Auschwitz. At Treblinka, about 925,000. Belzec, about 434,000. Chalemno, 167,000. And Sobibor, 167,000 people. Civilians.
A lot of these are civilians, men, women, and children. About 7 million Jews were slaughtered under the Nazi regime. And Sonny Austin is comparing January 6th with the Holocaust. These people are nuts. Are you kidding me? Like, how does anybody? Now, if you're a Democrat and somebody who believes January 6th was one of the darkest days in our history, I would love to understand how you get there. How do you make a comparison to killing 7 million Jews to a trespass issue at the Capitol?
Well, and with what you're saying there, the trespass at the Capitol. But the biggest thing about this is the darkest day in history. They almost took away our democracy. I'm sorry. This was a technical procedure. That was going on. Hey, we're voting this, we're voting that, we're talking. We don't agree. Yeah, and they had to stop it for a little while. It's not like they were going to go in and through a coup, take over the country and take over the military and all that.
No, this was literally people who were protesting. They had to stop their meeting for a couple of hours. That's interfering was interfering with a public with a public meeting. I mean, that's effectively what we're talking about, right? Yes. on the same page, Daryl? We were on the same page. The only thing I was going to add was is Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar have driven me nuts and a bunch of these others because, well, Joaquin Jeffries and a bunch of the others have said this, Pelosi.
The five police officers who were killed by this insurrection. No police officer died. Amy Klobuchar put it on her X page and they actually put a community fact check out there. People started going. No officers died. Sick Nick died of natural causes. And the literally official report on Sick Nick, he died of natural causes.
Causes not he was caused by something else because if something else causes you to die like say you have a stroke But it was caused by something else. That's not natural causes. They would reference what it is that caused your stroke. This was natural The rest were by drug overdose and by suicide days later. Okay? Yep.
Or it was even days or some were months. Yes. I think two of them were like a month later, but a couple of them were right afterwards, you know, three to five days right after that. I was like, give me a break. They were. Yeah, they absolutely were not. I mean, it's just unbelievable to me. That's what I said. I think you're exactly right. The other one, Hakeem Jeffries compared January 6th to Pearl Harbor. Yeah. Like, these people are nuts.
And this is why, again, as a rational person who looks at the facts, look, and I know I trigger some people listening here because I'm critical of Republicans too. Look, when Republicans do something unethical or stupid or just make a bad decision, I'm going to say it. The same with Democrats. To me, doesn't matter. Equal opportunity critiquer here.
Look, I haven't always made the best decisions. There's been times where I'm like, could have done that better. But the reality is, if you're going to be trusted, you should tell the truth. And does anybody think that January 6th is the same?
as Pearl Harbor, a day where thousands of soldiers were murdered, were killed in a sneak attack by the Japanese, which, by the way, now as history is showing, the FBI actually... knew ahead of time it was coming so let's just put that out there but the the reality is you can't compare january 6th to september 11th can't do it you can't compare january 6th to pearl harbor can't do it
You can't compare January 6th to the Holocaust. Can't do it. Because if you do it in Amy's mind, you're an idiot. Just saying. Now. If somebody disagrees with me, I will be very respectful, and I will listen to your disagreement, and maybe you can change my mind. I leave the opportunity open that maybe there's an argument I haven't considered. But as of right now...
If you are comparing January 6th to the Holocaust, you lack legitimacy in my mind. I'm just throwing it out there. Oh, no, that's absolutely, I mean, absolutely. Oh, my gosh. You know, even Biden was opining on January 6th. Oh, we can't remember. We can't forget it. You know, and then there's others saying that, you know, January 6th can't be whitewashed by the MAGA extremists.
Okay, if I'm an extremist because I am a U.S. nationalist, yes, I'm going to say that. I believe in America first. If that makes me an extremist, okay, I'm cool with that. With the globalists, that is what they feel, actually. The globalists absolutely feel that. I'm good with it. But here's the reality. You can't make something of what it wasn't.
It was not an insurrection. It was not the darkest day in American history. It was some people who walked into the Capitol, some knowing and some unknowing that they weren't allowed to be in certain areas of the Capitol, but it was not an insurrection. people that are trying to convince us of such they've already lost their legitimacy so there you go all right let's go ahead and take a quick break we'll be right back now back to the boss amy deboski
Call 907-522-0650 and be a part of the show on NewsRadio 650. KENI. Man, Daryl, do you see the fires that are happening right now in California? Ooh, those are horrifying, too, some of them. My goodness. You know, it's just unbelievable when you see this amount of fire that's happening in an urban area. It shows you the real benefit of, let's be honest, fire mitigation. Yeah, you actually.
have to go in and clean out and harvest and maintain your forest and stuff. If you do not do that, it's just like a tinderbox waiting to go. New York Post has an article up, 30,000 LA residents.
Celebs flee as Pacific Palisades fire worsens, screaming residents abandon cars, creating hurdles for firefighters. According to this, some 30,000 L.A. residents... have been ordered to evacuate their homes as a wildfire engulfs the Ritzi Pacific Palisades, while another destructive blaze erupted hours later in Altadena on Tuesday night. Obviously, California now is under a state of emergency after the fire has stretched. But, like, this is, I mean.
We've seen some devastating fires here in Alaska, and this one is the videos and stuff. I mean, what's so shocking is it is in these urban areas where there's lots of homes, and it's just sad. Oh, it's rolling through. You know, I'd just like to say.
Anchorage Assembly, you love to take things from California. You love to learn lessons from them. We're learning a lesson right now. Maybe we should do some fire mitigation on the hillside and stuck again heights. Maybe we shouldn't get in the way of, you know, grants that are given. these areas to help reduce this problem. Unless, of course, you want to burn the most expensive property areas in Anchorage for your tax base. Well, I will tell you one of the biggest concerns, I will say.
that I've known about for, I don't know, 10, 15 years, I've heard people talking about is fire mitigation on the hillside. It's one road coming down. It's very, it's very, it's very nerve-wracking to think. I mean, I will tell you, anytime we have a fire that breaks out, and look, let's be honest, in the summertime when we have fires in an urban area like this in Anchorage, typically they start with a homeless camp.
I mean, that's honestly, they're not going to tell you that, but that's really where usually these fires do start. And it's, look... You're putting life and property in jeopardy if you don't have a good wildlife mitigation plan. I know it's an issue that was really top of mind for the fire chief here in Anchorage.
But you have to have the money and the resources behind it to actually have an effective plan. And you have to do some of this cleanup. I mean, you just do. You've got to get in there and muck out some of the extra fuel that's there. All right, well, let's go ahead and take a break. Once we take a break, we're going to come back. On the other side, we're going to talk a little bit about Nick Begich III and his first, well, one of his first votes in Congress.
we'll talk about president trump and his press conference yesterday he's triggering all kinds of people it's awesome we'll be right back The opinions expressed on this show are those of the host and not of iHeartMedia or its employees. is like the big national show. But they always have lots of good content. Daryl has a few shows that he really likes. There's some good ones. We've got Discover by Lucy, which is from our sister station just down the way. Lucy does a great show. on local community things going on, whether it's Blood Bank of Alaska, Special Olympics, always interesting, entertaining, and she's a lot of fun to listen to. Another great one is Dr. Kiesling does just a GP. And I'll tell you what.
That man has got some gems in there. Yesterday's program was good, but last week's program... Yeah, that was one for the ages, I've got to admit. Oh, now I'm curious. I like listening to him. He's very knowledgeable. And so it's fun to listen to a lot of these different shows. But whether you catch us live or you catch us on podcast, we have... So many listeners, thousands and thousands. Well, I'm looking at the press conference that's happening right now in the Pacific Palisades. This is down in L.A. City. The fire chief is doing a press conference right now. And they have currently four major fires that are going in L.A. County 5,000 acres zero percent containment this is obviously major urban areas that are happening so this is the California right now is under a state of emergency
They requested, he said, 50 strike teams, which consists of about 250 fire engines, 1,000 personnel from out of L.A. County. You know, all their staff is at capacity, so they have requested. Neighboring help and help from out of state to come in and help. So, again, this is a developing situation that's happening in L.A. County. But if you turn on the news, you'll see the headlines. I mean, this.
This is unbelievable, the amount of people that are being impacted by these fires in L.A. County. It's significant. There's no doubt about it. So we will continue to watch that. All right, let's go to the phones, and Gary is with us. Good morning. Good morning, Gary. Good morning, Amy. I'm calling about fire mitigation here in Anchorage, which they keep talking about, and they don't do enough, especially on the hillside.
I don't know why. Why do they wait to the last minute down there? They could have done fire mitigation to those hills from the flooding and stuff. And then the low bushes and dry and everything. You know, they just don't do it. And that's why they got, you know, these out-of-control fires and stuff. And we keep talking about it up here, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. They might have done a little here, but they haven't done enough.
Yeah, it has to be a priority. You know, I would say when we talk about fire mitigation, obviously the hillside always comes to mind, and that has for years. People have talked about it. And, you know, Eagle River also has issues because if you go out Eagle River Valley. There's one way in and one way out. Highland is the same way, one way in, one way out. And that's the same with, like, Stuck Again Heights, right, in some parts of the hillside. That's my scariest one.
That's the scary part. It's because people have, if a fire starts and it blocks off egress, they have no way to get out. We have a FireWise program in Anchorage, but there's not nearly enough resources behind it in order to make a real dent. candid and so to your point to your point gary it has to be a priority and yeah you can't wait till it's an emergency right right they they got to get on it and they quit talking about it and also
You were talking earlier about the shootings and stuff. And if you're protecting your property or something, okay. But if you're just shooting people to be shooting people. We've got to put people in jail for longer terms. And I watched yesterday on TV where they did some major, major shootings and stuff.
They got like 20 years and 10 suspended and all that stuff. We've got to quit suspending and make it serious because there's a lot of out-of-control stuff that just in Anchorage is getting to be horrible. Yeah, I agree. No, I agree with you. Look, to your point, and I think Daryl alluded to this earlier, you know, when criminals know we're lax on...
you know, punitive damage, like when we're lax on them committing crimes, they're going to commit more crimes because they know they're either not going to get prosecuted or they're going to get a slap on the wrist. And they have to know there's real consequences for committing these heinous acts. Yep, I agree. And Trump on the 20th, I can hardly wait. Oh, I'm counting down the days, my friend. Gary, thank you for the call this morning. I've been really sick, unhealthy.
Really bad. I mean, I'm horrible. I can't even go down my stairs. But I tell you what, I want to make it at least until the inauguration. I can hardly wait. Oh, I'm excited. I'm going to be counting it down with you, my friend. Thank you for the call this morning. Yep, go Trump. All right. Well, I got to tell you, Daryl, see, we're not the only ones that are excited about January 20th. Bring on the sanity. You know, it's really interesting as Trump.
starts to really assemble his team and prepare to take the Oval Office again on January 20th, there's work already being done in in Congress, right? Yesterday, Nick Begich III took a vote, and I know my dad and I were having a conversation. I told him I would ask you the question, we need to find a good vote tracker.
If people want to watch how legislators are voting in Congress, where's the best place for them to go to track votes? Hit the other button, Daryl. Wrong button. There we go. There we go. Let me turn it down a little bit here. That is so funny you said that because.
I literally, as you were just starting to talk about this, I realized I haven't switched over my vote tracker to Nick Begich. It's still set for Mary Peltola. And I do one, the best one I have found for a vote tracker. There's two of them out there. One of them, and don't quote me on it yet. I've got to pull it up, but I do believe it's...
It's Polita something. Like I said, it just slipped my mind right there. Okay, you'll find it. And it gives a really accurate one. You can get it by one. Or just the government, the Congress's site itself for vote tracking is actually really, really good. So after the next.
break, I will pass you all of those are the two main ones that I use to track them. I got to get them to my dad because my dad wants to, you know, we triggered my dad on Friday when we were talking about Rand Paul's Festivus report. So I told people, you know, I always like to tell, this is why when I talk about a story, I source the story. I say, I'm pulling it off this website. I'm pulling it off that website. And clearly, look, I read all kinds of, I will tell you about stories at the age.
and I will tell you about stories on Must Read Alaska, and I will tell you stories on Breitbart, clearly so you know. I mean, look, I'm a conservative, and I tend to lean towards conservative news outlets. I don't hide that. But I also read a lot of liberal outlets, usually for the fun. Because it's fun to take a story and show you two different ways both sides are representing the story. I generally find the truth is in the middle.
For the Festivus report on Friday that we covered, I made a point to say, look, it's only 41 pages. You should read it. Like, if this is something that's an interesting topic to you, just Google, you know, 2024 Festivus report. And you'll find it. Rand Paul has it up on his website. And my dad read it. And I was laughing because I get a text message from my stepmom on Saturday. She goes, I just want to thank you.
for telling your dad about the Festivus report. She's like, I haven't heard the end of it. Well, I mean, it is crazy and psychotic what you see that's on there. Oh, my word. I know. I mean, just when you work hard every day and you get your butt out. out of bed and you go to work and you see a huge portion of your paycheck go to the federal government and then you can see them sending money to foreign countries for like client girls climate change action
plans or, you know, filmmaking in Jordan or, you know, whatever bunch of malarkey. Sesame Street in Iraq. Sesame Street in Iraq. I mean... And we're not even making this up. We're literally repeating to you what was in that report. I mean, the most unbelievable things you see sometimes, and you're like, what in the world are they doing with my money?
You know, look, it'd be one thing if we say, hey, we had a massive hurricane in North Carolina and we're sending a lot of money and aid to that place. Nope, nope, nope. They get pennies where we're sending dollars overseas. for stupid stuff. I mean, unbelievable. So unfortunately... I triggered my dad on Friday. And then it got worse when he actually read the report because he saw all the details. He was not thrilled, let's just say. He would have given him an F if he was a teacher.
But Nick Beckett's the third. Nick Beckett's the third. has made one of his first votes in Congress. Begich III votes in favor of Lake and Riley Act to crack down on illegal immigrant criminals. According to Must Read Alaska, Congressman Nick Begich III voted on Tuesday in favor of Lake and Riley Act to crack down on illegal immigrant criminals.
of the Lake and Riley Act the bill gives immigration and customs enforcement and state government resources to fight against illegal alien crimes an identical bill overwhelmingly passed by the House last year With bipartisan support, it stalled in the Senate. Not this time. It was Representative Mike Collins of Georgia introduced it on the first day of congressional session this year. The legislation is named for Lakin Riley, a 22-year-old.
nursing student who was murdered by an illegal immigrant on the University of Georgia's campus a year ago February 22nd.
The Lake and Riley Act does two things. It would amend federal law to require Immigration and Customs Enforcement to issue detainers and take custody of illegal aliens who commit theft-related crimes, such as shoplifting, as defined by... state and local laws it would also allow state attorneys general to sue the secretary of homeland security for injunctive relief if immigration actions such as parole violation of detention requirements or other policy failures harm that
state or its citizens. So what are we saying? We're dealing with those local communities who are refusing to cooperate with ICE. You now have a responsibility to notify ICE and tell ICE that this person has committed this crime. If you don't do so, you could be potentially interfering and there could be potential legal consequences. I am still very excited. I'm excited about Tom Homan getting in this position as the border czar. I hate that term, but that's what they're calling it.
Because Tom Homan has been on multiple interviews now citing federal law that prohibits people from protecting illegal immigrants. And he has said, quote, this is a felony to knowingly harbor concealed illegal immigration. to knowingly harbor concealed illegal immigration authorities, don't test us. I actually want to tell you this, Errol. I want to see some of these local officials get arrested.
Look, they're inhibiting federal law enforcement from doing their job. They are harboring and providing aid to illegals, to criminals. Period. Hard stop. That's what they're doing. They're providing aid and harboring illegals. When they intentionally obstruct ICE from doing their job and they let illegals go knowing... that they should be notifying ICE and knowing that they're not allowed here in violation of federal law, to me that's aiding and abetting.
I'd love to see some of these local officials, city council members that are passing these harbor laws, mayors that are directing their police chiefs to not cooperate with ICE. Look.
I got to be honest with you. Love to see him go to jail. Love to see him go to jail. Did you see the latest news about the one governor who literally has been saying, no, you cannot deal with ICE. You can't do any of this. You know, all of this border control is horrible. Oh. Some of these illegal people are, well, we don't call them that, but some of these people are.
They're bringing weapons and running their crime rings out of our homeless hotels. What? Oh, that's horrible. We need to prosecute them. And the media is going to go to Grandma, who's been here for 20 years, and, oh, we're going to deport her and separate her. her from her family look who tom holman is focusing on is the most egregious offenders
They're not focusing on grandma who's been here for 20 years. They're focusing on who doesn't have a green card. They're focusing on violent offenders. That's who they're focusing on first. And the fact of the matter is these loony libs who who are obstructing justice and national security, frankly, are in violation of the law, and they should be held to account. That's Amy's opinion. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back.
You're listening to live, local, and always insightful Morning Drive Radio with Amy Demboski on NewsRadio 650-KENI. Get on the show now by calling 907-580-580. 522-0650. Welcome back. So I was just talking about the Lake and Riley Act, and it really does two things. It makes it a requirement for ICE to issue detainers and take custody of illegals in the country that have committed theft relief. That's one.
The other would, it gives state attorney generals the opportunity to sue the Homeland Security Secretary for injunctive relief if immigration actions such as parole, violation of detention requirements, and other policy failures harm that state. or its citizens, i.e. your citizen has been murdered. Kate Steinle, right? Like in Riley, right? I mean, we have all these people, examples of people, they should have never been victimized the way they were victimized, murdered.
raped, whatever the crime was against them, because many of these illegals have committed multiple crimes since they've been in the country, and local officials haven't notified ICE or they've just let them go. And so that's what this law does. Would it surprise you, Daryl, if I told you 159 Democrats voted against it? It wouldn't surprise me, but it would disappoint me. Yeah. So every single Republican voted in favor of the Lake and Riley Act in Congress yesterday. But we had...
159 democrats that voted against it now 48 democrats did vote in favor of it but according to this article from the daily caller 159 House Democrats voted Tuesday against legislation titled the Lake and Riley Act that would require federal immigration authorities to detain illegal immigrants who commit theft-related crimes in the U.S. and would also allow states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused.
to their residents because of the illegal immigration. The legislation ended up passing the House. In a 264 to 159 vote, with every Republican voting in favor of it, 48 Democrats ended up voting in favor of the bill. It will now head to the Senate. After the vote, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson released a statement calling out
the 159 Democrats who voted against the act. Quote, Lake and Riley was brutally murdered by an illegal alien that President Biden and the Democrats let into this country with their open borders policy. It is hard to believe after countless horrific stories like Lake and Riley,
any House Democrat would vote against deporting illegal aliens who commit violent crimes against American citizens. End quote. That coming from Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. So again, you have to ask yourself, realistically, Why are Democrats trying to protect illegal criminals that are coming into this country and violating laws? Why are they trying to shield them from deportation?
Do they care more about illegal criminals than they care about American citizens? Yes. Again, this is a very Machiavellian type of thing. This is all about power and control. I keep saying it. You've got to get to the heart of the issue here. And the heart of the issue is it is more important for them to gain and retain power, i.e., bringing illegals into this country, no matter the cost to Americans, so they can...
get an advantage in the census so then they can get more seats in Congress. That's what this is all about. It is all about power and control. Just look at Joe Biden and putting a puppet in place there. I mean, power and control. You are 100 percent.
Right. Yeah, that's exactly what this is. All right, we have our calls that are starting to stack up, so I'm going to go ahead and start hitting the phones here. Let's start with Don. He's first. Good morning, Don. Good morning. How are you? I am well, sir. What's on your mind this morning? Well, it's talking about the Catholic Social Service. You know, they're praying that...
Pretty biggest one, I think, of helping the illegals. I know I watch America's Real Voice, The War Room, and they do a lot of the border stuff for years. And they actually film it and all. They go through the Deering Gap and all that. Well, they've taken, put water and resources on the other side of the border, you know, so that... When these pack meals drop off these illegals, they can get water. They dump their IDs and stuff. So when they come into the United States, they don't...
They don't know who they are or whatever, you know. But I think they need to be held accountable because they shouldn't be doing it. I think it was illegal from the beginning going across there dumping off. water resources for them so they can make it to the border and cross.
Well, I will tell you, I will tell you, I think Tom Homan is right on this. You know, I think the strategy of going against the people that are aiding and bedding criminals is the right strategy. So when we talk about these sanctuary cities that pass law,
mandating that their police force doesn't cooperate with ICE, I think they should be held legally responsible and criminally prosecuted, number one. That's right. But number two, if you're an NGO, if you're a nonprofit, and you are knowingly aiding an... betting criminals, I think you should lose your nonprofit status first up. That's like step one.
Yeah, but I think they need to go to jail. Yeah, no, I agree with you. Because just by taking their status away isn't going to stop them from doing it. Yeah, but here's, it all comes down to the money, right? The reason they're able to be as successful as they are is because they have a nonprofit status. Once you start going after that, then it will dry up the money. And then it will...
their operations will either cease or they will drastically be rolled back. I agree with you. And I go back to this. Look. If you are knowingly violating American law, U.S. law, aiding and abetting criminals, I think you should be held accountable. Period. It doesn't matter who you are. I don't care if you're the CEO of a company or if you are a mayor of a city or if you are a city council person. If you are knowingly, intentionally...
Aiding and embedding a criminal, that is a criminal act in itself. That's my opinion. Yep, that's my opinion. I agree with you 100%. You know, and I think the money that they get from the government, it probably goes and pays for the... The bishops that get charged for abuse of minors, you know, I don't know how to term it, but I think they probably pay for their legal fees.
Well, I will tell you. Thank you, Don. I appreciate your comments this morning. I'm going to go ahead and take a quick commercial break because our phone lines are starting to stack up. And when we come back, we will get to your phone call if you'd like to call 522-0650. Stay with us. Amy Demboski, 6 to 8, mornings on NewsRadio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. You know, we talk a lot about the impacts of policy, the failure to enforce that policy, i.e. laws.
And what it actually costs us. You know, obviously, the cost is very, very well known to families that have lost loved ones, that have had their family members violated, murdered, you know. property stolen. I mean, the impact, you know, the fentanyl deaths, we've talked about all of these impacts, but there is a real impact to every one of us. Shout out to Bruce, who sent me this.
But when we look at the Congressional Budget Office, they have a report out right now that says Medicaid spending on illegal aliens has cost taxpayers over $16.2 billion. billion dollars. Under the open borders. I mean, this again is coming from budget.house.gov. It's a press release relating to the Congressional Budget Office's report. But this is significant.
Chairman Arrington's statement when this is released, it says the Congressional Budget Office's analysis confirms that the mass migration of illegal immigrants is costing billions of dollars to Medicaid program created to serve the health care needs of the most. vulnerable Americans, this is on top of the executive action taken to provide $9 billion in Obamacare to illegal immigrants. Again, if you're an illegal, you should not be eligible for U.S. government assistance. Sorry.
You know what I'll give you? I'd be happy to fund a program that puts you on a plane, gives you a plane ticket out of here. I'd be happy with that. No problem. Let's send you to China. Happy to do it. Happy to do it. Let's send you back to wherever you came from. Fine. No problem. No problem. But the reality is, is the cost is so almost unquantifiable when we talk about loss of life and harm to people.
when we start putting a dollar figure to it, this is going to break our nation. And it's by design. That's what's so infuriating about it. All right, let's go to the phones. And Joe is with us. Good morning, Joe. Thank you, Amy, and a Happy New Year to you. All your listeners. And you and Daryl, you know, you hooked me into this conversation. I'm going to sing along this time.
I'd like to go once in a while, though. I love it, though. This is what makes the show interesting, Joe. Because sometimes, you know, other perspectives are out there that are valid, not just mine. So I love hearing your perspective. What are your thoughts on this whole illegal immigration thing? Don't tempt me. This is the deal. Illegal immigration, what they're doing is they come into our country and they're winning a nonviolent war.
And the way they populate, they don't believe in birth control down there south of the border. What they want to do is they eat, breed, and consume. And the thing is, is... What really made me want to give you a call was the fires in California. are coincidentally happening in different areas separate from one fire, then there's another one over here, and then another one way miles away over there, and then way over there is another one.
And what I think it may be, and there is evidence from past fires in California, that disgruntled illegal aliens are going, well, they want to deport me, huh? Well, let's put them to work. Strike a match over here. Strike a match over there. And burn it. They do not like us. And the reason why is because we're still at a Spanish-American... Mexican War still going on. When I go to Walmart, Amy... Yes, sir. When I go to Walmart... I'm sorry. When I go to Walmart...
I look in the front windows of all these vehicles parked there, and I'm seeing Mexican flags on the rearview mirrors all over the place. They don't want to become Americans. What they want to do is take, take, take, and eventually, when they gain the upper hand in population, a complete takeover of America, and it's wrong. Well, there's no question it's a foreign invasion. That's what we're seeing. And, you know, I covered a story the other day. You know, in 2024, it was reported over 400,000.
people were born to undocumented illegal non-americans that all of a sudden now have birthright citizenship that is more than the population of new orleans louisiana 400 000. 400, yeah, it's unbelievable. So that's why I keep saying you have to end birthright citizenship. It's ridiculous to think in a Western country that you're visiting the place. You're not even a resident of the place, and if you pop out a kid,
All of a sudden the kid's in a U.S. citizen. That's ridiculous. And we're just going back home. You have to 100% stop. counting foreigners in the U.S. Census for apportionment reasons. That is the motivation why the left is pushing this, is because it is a foreign takeover, but it is a political takeover. It is like the soft coup that is happening. where they're able to take congressional seats permanently. That's what this is all about. And if Republicans aren't smart enough...
or brave enough to stand up and push back, yes, you're going to be called all kinds of names. You're going to be called racist. You're going to be called all kinds of names. But if they don't have the intestinal fortitude to actually deal with the apportionment issue and stop counting illegals,
foreigners into that, we're going to lose forever. That's what's going to happen. So, Joe, great call this morning. Thank you so much for the call. We're going to go ahead and take a quick break. We'll be right back. Welcome back to live, local, and insightful Morning Drive Radio on NewsRadio 650 KENI.
OK, one more story that I got to sneak in here. I just have to get in here because you're going to see these headlines everywhere. And I think it's important to have context. So Trump yesterday, live during our show, he was giving a press conference and he covered a whole. bunch of topics and one of the topics he covered was the Panama Canal and he was talking about Greenland and what many are reporting and the way they report it it sounds crazy but but At the end of the day,
No, we're not going to go invade foreign countries. That's not what it's about. Look, Greenland is a territory of Denmark at this point, but it's becoming incredibly important, especially as the Arctic opens to shipping and the potential strategic...
location of that. Then also the Panama Canal, right? It has been reported multiple times now that there's Chinese military forces now in control of the Panama Canal or down there in the Panama Canal. It used to be, obviously, It was of great strategic importance to us. So Trump was asked in this press conference yesterday about the Panama Canal. I'm going to play you his comments unedited because I want you to hear his words. We'll talk about it after that.
get control of these areas, you are not going to use military or economic coercion. No. And can you tell us what is the strategy? I can't assure you. You're talking about Panama and Greenland. No, I can't assure you on either of those two. But I can say this. We need them for economic security. The Panama Canal was built for our military. I'm not going to commit to that now. It might be that you'll have to do something.
Look, the Panama Canal is vital to our country. It's being operated by China. China. And we gave the Panama Canal to Panama. We didn't give it to China. And they've abused it. They've abused that gift. It should have never been made, by the way.
your position is clear but have you directed your staff to take a specific action to draw plans and can you elaborate again you didn't rule out military coercion well we need Greenland for national security purposes I've been told that for a long time long before I even ran I mean people have been talking about it for a long time you have approximately 45,000 people there people really don't even know
if Denmark has any legal right to it. But if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security. That's for the free world. I'm talking about protecting the free world. Okay, so I wanted to play you that clip straight out because this is why Trump is so good. When it comes to negotiation, what you heard was a reporter asked him, will you take off military action or economic coercion in order to deal with the Panama Canal or to deal with Greenland? And he says, no.
Again, if you're going to go into, this is high stakes negotiation. The other side has to believe there could be real consequences, sometimes scary consequences, for them not being willing to deal with it. or to have conversations with you about very difficult topics. And what they have to believe is Trump is willing to go the distance.
This is what this is all about. So you're going to have people say, oh, Trump, Trump. Look, this is the art of the deal. This is negotiating 101. Why in the world would he fight with his hand tied behind his back? Why in the world would he say? he's not going to take economic coercion or military action off the table. Why would he do that? Of course he's not going to do that. Does it mean he's going to take military action in Greenland? No. But what I'm saying is he knows how to negotiate.
Better than almost anybody else in the world. Right? The father of the art of the deal. There's a reason Donald Trump is Donald Trump. This is what it's about. So when you start seeing the headlines and all that, just think back to if I was going to negotiate with somebody on a major deal, would I go out and put a press release ahead of time saying, well, I'm not going to do this and I'm not going to do this.
I'm going to take my biggest quivers out of my toolbox. No, I'm not going to do that. Why would I do that? It's stupid. Well, also, right along with this is that was a bad faith question. They started with saying military coercion. economic coercion. That is being, that is the most negative way you can say that.
Look, of course it is. It was a loaded question, but again, the definitiveness, when I watched this live, it was during a commercial break yesterday, during the show, when I watched it live, before the guy was even done the question, he said no. You could hear Trump say no.
I mean, he was so definitive. It was like, this is negotiating 101. Like, it's a master class in negotiating. And to me, I'm watching it, and as I'm watching him, I just laughed. I was like, I mean, I would have said no. I mean, why would you take those?
Why would you take those tools out of your toolbox? You wouldn't. It makes no sense. All right, let's go to the phones, and we're going to go to Dr. Farr first. Good morning, Dr. Farr. Hey, good morning. Yeah, I know. I'm really looking forward to seeing Trump in office, but he's fighting. so many different fronts. It's going to be interesting to see what happens because he's trying to clear out this Israel-Gaza problem with Iran and then the Ukraine-Russian war and then all these different...
Countries like Greenland and Canada and the Panama Canal that are of vital interest to us. I mean, it's going to be very interesting. And then all this domestic problems. I mean, that congressional report that came out. showed there were so many problems with the vaccines and we should have used early treatment there's 200 billion dollars in covid funds that were lost to fraud there's all this fraud in ukraine with all the money that's missing there and then you know the biden administration
is arresting these grandmothers that are protesting with silent prayer and jailing them in front of abortion clinics? Come on. There needs to be a total change in what we do here in America. And I just wanted to warn people about a scam. Somebody called me up. It was on a landline. impersonating a police officer, saying that I was going to be arrested because I had missed a court date. I was like, what the heck?
But he also said I had to go to the sheriff's office to confirm my signature and that I needed to stay on the line and pay like $1,300 and $1,400 fines through some type of ATM or something. Anyway, there's some really big scams that go around like that. You know, you won the lottery. There's so much crime like that that's going around.
you know, that we need to get a handle on all these illegals, you know, the drug trade, everything else, that we really need to get back and focus on the true crime in this country and not the fake made-up political crimes. Yeah, you're exactly right. And on the scam front, I got one a few months ago telling me that I missed jury duty and there was a warrant for my arrest. And the guy that was calling was impersonating a true Anchorage police officer. But the idiot.
didn't realize I lived in Palmer. So the Anchorage police would not be calling me because I missed a Palmer court date, which of course I didn't miss. I just rescheduled it. So it's, you know, to your point, when these scammers call you and they give you a, hey, I'm from the sheriff's department. Well, we don't have sheriff's department. So every little word they say, it's important to listen. If you're not sure, just hang up
phone and call the police department and they will tell you if it's legitimate or not. So great tip on that. Dr. Farr, thank you so much for calling in. Randy, I'm sorry I ran out of time this morning. That does it for Daryl and I. It's been an awesome hump day. I hope everybody has a great day today. Stay tuned.
