The opinions expressed on this show are those of the host and not of iHeartMedia or its employees. Thank you for listening to NewsRadio 650 KNR. Amy Temposki, the show starts now. Our lines are open at 907-522-0650. This is The Morning Drive on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Good morning. I had to think about what day it is. It's Tuesday, January 7th. First second Monday of the year. So you're going to confuse me already. I've had no coffee.

I'm wide awake, but I don't really feel like it. I've been up for a while. There's some coughing for you. Oh, so sad. So sad. So sad. I will tell you, Daryl, I was expecting your text this morning when I saw it, which was, schools are closed in Anchorage in the mat suit today. I want to get it to you early so that way you knew waking up what was going on.

Yeah, I figured, I was not surprised. We had a big discussion yesterday whether we should cancel our transportation services preemptively, just considering the road conditions as we were leaving last night, or whether we should just wait until morning. So, you know. I left it up to the transportation director to figure it out in the morning.

So he'll do great. He'll do great. But I haven't heard yet in Shigekio River how the roads are. Side roads, back roads, atrocious, slippery as all get out. The roads themselves are actually in good shape, like the Glen Highway, Minnesota. So all your main roads, they're actually just wet, but you got to be careful. There is a lot of puddling water. And when I say puddling, I mean, I watched a little car almost disappear in a puddle. So there's some deep water. Be careful out there.

Oh, man. Well, it is one of those days. What are you going to say? You know, J-Bear is announcing road conditions are red. So you said they had delayed reporting today. Delayed reporting. I do believe it's 10 a.m., but you might want to check on the site for that just so you don't get in trouble with the commander.

Yeah, I was going to say, so I'm going to their website here, so I'm looking. Let's see here. Delayed reporting. The installation commander has established delayed reporting due to adverse weather conditions. All nonessential personnel should report no later than 10 a.m. on January 7th. Mission Essential personnel will report to work at normal scheduled times. Child and youth programs will open one hour prior to reporting time.

Please contact your chain of command for additional reporting instructions. There you go. Best you can get on that. And again, Anchorage School District closed today because of the icy roads mainly on the side streets. Matthew Burroughs School District closed also. I haven't seen anything on the Kenai Peninsula, so. Yeah, well, it looks like I'm looking at community meetings today for local governments.

And for the most part, it's light except for in the Mat-Su, of course. They have a whole host of meetings today, later in the day. But as I'm looking at a lot of these community council meetings, my expectation is... you know by the evening it'll be fine it'll be fine everybody will get out with their sand sanding trucks and

I saw the funniest meme this morning. I sent it to you, but I had to share with everybody. It's got a woman slipping on a very icy road. I mean, glare ice road, basically what our side streets look like right now. And it says only in Alaska do they close the schools for warm weather. That's the truth. That's the truth. I haven't actually ventured out into my driveway yet to see how bad it was. Last time we had a day like this, like literally, I'm.

throwing sand, you know, backing the six-wheeler down the driveway, throwing sand as I go because I couldn't get out of my driveway. It took a while. It took a while. Well, it's probably going to be that way today because I know over in Spenard, yeah, them side streets, wow. I mean, that was in four-wheel drive. still doing swirlies out the road and stuff. But once you're on the main streets themselves, just water.

Okay. It's 45 degrees in here. Holy crap. Well, you know, now that they've transitioned from this remote learning stuff, now it's just basically the kids just get a snow day, except for it's not snowy. It's a nice day. Oh, water day. Ice day, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's a nice day. So no school today for kids.

in the Anchorage and the Mat-Su. So there you go. Well, I suppose I will go through my list of meetings that I have. There aren't all that many out in the Mat-Su. There's quite a few. But other than that, it looks like it's going to be a pretty light day for most local governments. The Taukina Sewer and Water Service Area is having a meeting today at 1 p.m.

at the Taukina Public Library, if that's of interest to you. South Colony Road Service Area Board of Supervisors has a meeting today at 2 p.m., and it looks like it's going to be... in the conference room 203. So I'm assuming that means the borough building because it doesn't say.

Midway Road Service Area Board of Supervisors has their meeting at 3.30 today in the O&M conference room at 1420 South Industrial Way. There is no... oh you know what am i looking at the wrong day i am looking at the wrong day i'm looking at wednesday

Oh, see, this happens. Today is Tuesday. I keep thinking it's Wednesday. I keep feeling like it's Wednesday, Daryl. That's why I paused when we first got on the air, because I was feeling like it's Wednesday, but it's Tuesday. So tonight, the Assembly has a regular meeting out here.

to bro okay six six o'clock same with anchorage anchorage has a meeting today and uh at the lucac library in the assembly chambers so again if you uh i know people are already texting me amy get some coffee i know i know what can i say i laugh i laugh all right but tonight i will say uh for the city of wasilla They had a special meeting scheduled for tonight.

Their special meeting that was scheduled for last night, rather, has been rescheduled to January 9th. Remember, I skipped all the public announcements for yesterday. But their special meeting has been rescheduled to January 9th. So if you have been one that is tracking that. That's what it says. All right. Let's go to the city of Anchorage because there is no meeting in Palmer. Again, the Anchorage Assembly has a meeting tonight, Tuesday, January 7th, 5 p.m.

That's when it starts. All those items for public testimony start at 6 if you want to see their agenda, which it is voluminous. That is a great word. Oh, my gosh. That was way better. I was going to use gargantuan, but voluminous is awesome. It is voluminous. It is voluminous. So that particular agenda, you can find it, though, at muni.org. Go to the Assembly tab, and you'll be able to find it there under Meetings. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. All right, moving down to the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

have two meetings for the borough. They do have an assembly meeting tonight as well, 6 p.m. in the borough chambers, which is located, obviously, in Saldana, 144 North Binkley Street. And then the Seldovia Recreational Service Area Board also has their meeting tonight at the Sea Otter Community Center in Seldovia from 515 to 715.

So those are the only couple meetings that I see there. I do see a meeting on the calendar for the city of Salgotna. It's a Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, and yes, it is for today, Tuesday, January 7th. That will be kicking off at 5.30 p.m. at the council chambers in Saldana.

And last but not least, there is a special assembly meeting in Homer tonight. It's going to be at 5.30 p.m. at the Cal's Council Chambers. The agenda item is pre-legislative discussion with Representative Sarah Vance. So if you'd like more information on any of these meetings, I just recommend you go to your local community council or your local community page.

and you'll be able to find the information there. It's really easy to navigate. Most of these sites, there's little widgets. You can just click on the button, and it brings you right to that particular meeting with more information.

a window with but okay now sometimes it's a credit card have you ever done that oh yes no i use that on my mirrors um the credit card i use on my mirrors that's usually mine oh it's the worst when you forget your ice scraper and you're like all you have you're like what do i have what i have all you have is a credit card um

Well, Daryl's over here cradling his coffee. Well, that's only because my coffee cup is so big, I realize, I mean, this cup is so big, I realized when I was drinking from it and was holding it, I had to hold it like it's a baby. I mean, it's that big. Okay. Boy, that coffee did taste so good just now. Oh, my.

You crack me up. Gerald makes me laugh. I have to tell you, sometimes I'll be really serious, and I'll be doing a story, and I have, like, mom vision. So even though I'm not looking directly at him, I can still see him. Like right now, I'm looking directly at my TV. but i can see daryl out of the corner of my eye and sometimes i'm doing a story and it's like he's over there goofing around and he made like

Like, I totally, I can't stop it. I try to, I try to tune him out, but it's just, you know, he's funny. I am a little kid. He's funny. I'm a little kid in here in a room by myself with lots of screens, so. I love it. You know, it makes it interesting, that's for sure.

Well, Daryl, I suppose let's go ahead and take our first break of the morning. I know this morning President Trump is scheduled to speak at Mar-a-Lago. He's going to have basically a presser at Mar-a-Lago. My expectation is I have a feeling we might. hear a few things I think he might have some commentary on President Biden's attempt to basically take millions of acres of ocean water off the docket for oil and gas development. Stupid idea. I have a feeling he'll have some commentary.

on that. I have a feeling he probably will get to have some commentary on Judge Mershon, which we also have commentary on. I have a feeling he may have some commentary on some policies, some appointments. You know, expectation of working with a Republican legislature. I have a feeling this press conference could go anywhere. We just don't even know. But it's going to, you know, in Donald Trump fashion.

expect it's going to be pretty candid. So I do have the TV on, so I'm going to be watching as that is coming up. It'll be tricky because obviously I'll be live on the air at the same time. So we will see what President Trump says, but he is scheduled to speak at Merlot. in 45 minutes from now. So we will keep you updated on what that is all about. We're going to get into the headlines of the day and so much more. Stay with us.

Amy Demboski, 628 Mornings on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. All right, I am here. I'm just sending a text message. I'm working as I'm working. No worries. It's always fun to work while you work. Letting everybody know, though, Mat-Su School District schools are closed this morning. Also, Anchorage School District schools are closed. J-Bear is reporting red road conditions and delayed...

reporting. So if you're any of those things in your life, you might want to give yourself a little bit of extra time today. In fact, if you got the kids in school, you're gonna have to figure out something to do today. I've got to be honest with you. I'd rather have a foot of snow than this freeze, melt, freeze, melt, freeze, melt. I 100% agree with you on that. This drives me absolutely bonkers. You know, it is incredibly frustrating because...

You know, to me, I'd much rather take a foot of snow than ice. Ice, I am not a fan of. You know what the weird thing is? And just I noticed this this morning. So the last three years. we had a problem with excessive snow. So much snow, so much snow. They couldn't keep the roads cleared. I mean, it was all that snow. This year, only had one snowstorm in all actuality, but it's been ice, ice, ice. How come we don't have fleets of sanders out there?

sanding all these roads. I mean, the main roads, like I said, don't need it. But all your side roads, why are not sanders out there literally doing this? I watched a school bus and a fire truck yesterday basically slide off the road. Well, I will tell you, I expect they will be out today.

But, you know, it's like everything else, especially I'm thinking about the municipality and the fleet that they have. They only have so many vehicles, and they have a lot of roads they've got to go through. I will say out in my area yesterday, I saw private people, private contractors.

There's already outstanding different parking lots and different things. So, I mean, this is what you do when it's, like, really icy is you get sand trucks out there. So my guess is it'll just take a while for them to actually get through each road. I know, Daryl hates it when I play devil's advocate because, like...

I can't pile on because I know their process, and it just takes them a while. They can't get to every, especially neighborhoods. There's a lot of neighborhood streets. I just look at it as last three years, nothing but men. These guys are so horrible. They can't do it. They can't do it. They can't do it.

So you guys get hit with the other wild card, and, oh, guess what? You can't do it. Oh, my. And I want to be consistent. I have consistently told people about the process, and I'm a big fan of street maintenance. I think those guys. work their tails off and everybody nitpicks their job I mean the reality is I'm not coming down on the guys working the equipment I'm more poking at the ones who are doing the scheduling and oh well we're going to do that

Let's be honest. Suzanne LaFrance has gotten a gift this year in hardly any snow. That's kind of what I was referring to. This is like an easy snow year compared to what Bronson administration had. you have years like this where you have very little snowfall i mean it's like a pass basically yes she's got to deal with sanders and it's icy but it's effectively I mean, it's a pass. It's easy peasy. You know, they need to bring the kernel in is what they need to do.

The colonel would solve everything. Sanders? Yes, Colonel Sanders. That's exactly right. I knew where you were going. So sad, so sad. All right, well, let's talk about somebody who reminds me of Colonel Sanders, Judge Mershon. Mershon, Mershon, Mershon said to the team, Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. Exactly. Look, okay, here's the thing. President Trump, Judge Mershon, has scheduled his sentencing for Friday.

10 days before he's due to swear in as President of the United States. This is 100% political. I've said this about this case. This is the Stormy Daniels business records case that is completely garbage, right? The reality is... Trump paid an NDA. He paid for legal expenses relating to an NDA. There's nothing illegal about a nondisclosure agreement. There's nothing illegal about paying your attorney to have it done. And in this case, there were...

so many reversible errors in instructions the judge gave to the jury, the way that they are stacking on charges to make them felonies, which has never been done. We call this a novel legal theory. The way they have charged Trump, he is the first person in U.S. history to have been charged this way, and there's no way this stands up in appeal. Period. Hard decision. Like, hard stop.

No way this stands up under appeal. Not to mention, when you, I mean, you know, they tried to claim this was basically election, you know, like a violation of federal election laws, right? But Trump's defense team had lined up the former chair of the Federal Election Commission who was going to say there is no violation here. And what happened? The judge wouldn't let him testify. I mean...

So when you start saying, you know, I have an expert witness that is going to affirmatively dispel the prosecution's argument, the judge wouldn't let, like, this case from 15 ways from Sunday is getting thrown out on appeal. And so the only reason, and then let me back up. And then on top of it, you have the Supreme Court ruling that comes out and says, you know, that.

you know, effectively, you know, presidents have limited immunity. Of course you can't shoot somebody, you know, in the face walking down, you know, the sidewalk, right? So some will argue, oh, you know, giving presidents immunity means they can commit all these crimes. No, they can't. It's the most ridiculous thing. That's not at all what the Supreme Court decision said. It says anytime a president is is acting in his official capacity as president of the United States.

Those actions he has immunity from. Because imagine, you know, this happened to Obama, right? You call in a drone strike and you kill a bunch of civilians. Are you going to be charged with murder now? The answer is no. right if you're a president acting in your official capacity

Well, you know, I don't know how much the immunity argument is going to play in this particular business case trial. I don't see it as being a significant issue, but it is an issue that needs to be litigated and defined through the appellate process. And so there is a question about whether Trump's lawyers should have been able to argue the immunity, you know, immunity portion of Judge Mershon.

decision before sentencing because the Supreme Court comes down and says nope you know presidents have immunity And went during their official actions. And Judge Marchand just basically just ignores and says, well, this this doesn't apply. You know, I mean, I'm paraphrasing widely, but that's effectively what he does. Well, Trump's lawyers are saying, wait a second, you're ignoring a Supreme Court.

you know, decision here on Trump's immunity. Do I think the immunity will apply to a business records case? Probably not. But it is something that needs to be litigated. But, again, there's so many other reversible errors. To me, a lot of people are focusing on this immunity question. I'm not. I'm focusing not on the actual.

instructions to the judge. We don't even know what some of the underlying decisions of the jury were because the judge gave the jurors just, you know, basically instructions that they don't even have to agree on every charge. They just have to find that he did something.

And a lot of people don't realize it's not just the hush money. It's the fact that they made it a federal offense, which I mean, literally, this is not a federal case. It's a misdemeanor. But they made it one by saying, well, they committed other crimes in the process of.

Yeah, stacking it. And you don't even have to agree on what those underlying crimes are. This is the first time in history I think somebody has been convicted of something and they can't even articulate to the defendant what the underlying issue was that stacked it to make it a felony. Literally on the day of jury instructions, they're going, so what's the second charge again? What was the other crime? Don't worry about it.

It's insane. So, again, from 15 ways from Sunday, this is getting thrown out on appeal. So I'll just tell you what this is. I mean, at the end of the day, what this is all about is Mershon is a hard leftist. Mershon should have absolutely, look, his daughter is.

reportedly made millions of dollars off of this case itself i mean this judge shouldn't even be on the bench in my opinion i mean he it was so egregious i'm not even a lawyer i've taken a lot of of classes relating to law but I will tell you I've seen good judges in action and I've seen I mean, just exceptional judges in action. Even here in Alaska, I remember watching a murder trial and watching Judge Voland in action. Exceptional, meticulous.

Meticulous. And then I watched Judge Marchand, and I'm just sitting there going, What? Like, this is insane. This is all about labeling Trump as a felon before he's sworn in on it. And that is 100% all it is. That's it. That's all this is, is about naming Trump as a felon because they say it doesn't actually enter into the record. It's not official until you're sentenced. So Judge Mershon is coming out saying, well, I'm not going to sentence him to time.

give him a fine. We're just going to basically discharge the case. And it's an unconditional discharge, meaning there's really no punishment. But then Trump is officially a felon. And that then lets the Democrats in Congress go crazy being, oh, he's a felon as a president. We can't have that. And start going through all their other stuff to muck up the next four years. security standpoint, you look at it and you say, okay,

What difference does it make if Trump is labeled as a felon but there's no punishment? Well, I think it would be different because he's the president, but there are multiple countries that you can't even enter the country if you're a felon. Canada. I know. I mean, Justin Trudeau will not let him cross that border. I know people that have had DUIs that can't even drive through Canada, right? So you start looking at it and you say, but from my perspective, my first thought is, you know.

Okay, so now Trump can't carry a firearm. So now Trump can't vote. So now, you know, because, again, as a felon, there's a lot of things, rights that are suspended. Then they'll have to go back to court to get back. So, again, but the benefit of this, again.

If we're going to argue, you know, pros and cons, at the same time, I'm kind of glad. I like what you did there. You're welcome. You're welcome. At the same time, I'm glad that it's getting discharged because this is the way that it can be appealed. Right. If it just sits in purgatory forever, because there was one argument just to hold this and don't do sentencing. So after Trump's out of office, which I thought was a bad idea, too.

At the end of the day, this hopefully will allow the appellate process to go forward, and we can hurry up and throw this case out. This case, I don't even think it will go to the Supreme Court. I think the New York Supreme Court will throw this out. The appeals court. throw it out i don't see this going all the way to the supreme court i see this getting thrown it is such a bad case with such um bad

There was multiple reversible errors during this case. I do not see this getting passed in New York appellate court. I'd be surprised. I'd be surprised. You know what the number one thing that they could throw it out on, in my personal opinion, is? What? The refusal for change of venue.

At the beginning of it, they begged for change of venue because the district they brought it charges in, 93% voted for Biden and cannot stand Trump. There was no way to get a fair trial in that. They asked for it. He said no. Well, I got to tell you, I mean, just the fact about the witnesses being called and denying an expert witness like that, I think with the judge specifically telling the jurors they didn't all have to agree on the charges, that they just have to find he did.

something i mean that's crazy and then you again this whole novel theory where they can stack these charges and make this potential misdemeanor like a felony It's getting thrown out. I'm just telling you. I'm not even a lawyer, and I'm telling you, there's just no way. No way. No way. Daryl! No way. Oh, wait. All right, that's it. That's it for the whole Mershon discussion. We're going to go ahead and take a break. If you'd like to call in, be part of the show, 522-0650. We'll be right back.

Reach out to Amy now, 907-522-0650. That's 907-522-0650. It's Amy DeBoski on NewsRadio 650, KD&I. Welcome back to Current Time 637 on this Tuesday morning. If you're just joining us, schools in the Anchorage and Matsuborough have been closed for today due to the road conditions.

If you have a meeting or whatnot that you're planning on going to, especially relating to a government, I would recommend that you double-check before you go just to make sure it hasn't been closed. But according to Mr. Darrell Dean, roads in Anchorage, especially Side Street,

parking lots, that kind of stuff are very, very treacherous. Oh, hit your button. There we go. I had to get them buttons up there. Treacherous is a good word for it. Like I said, main roads, just water. The side streets and the back streets. Yeah, let's be careful out there, ladies and gentlemen. If you got cleats for your shoes, put them on.

And just a reminder that if you work on JBEAR, there is delayed reporting today. All nonessential personnel should report no later than 10 a.m. today. All mission essential personnel report to work as normal. Child and youth programs will open one hour prior to reporting time. So, again, if you have any questions, just contact your chain of command for additional reporting instructions. All right, let's go to the phones, and Dawn is with us. Good morning, Dawn.

Good morning. There's several topics. It's about energy. If you listened to the show before you guys came on, the guy's name is Phil Flynn. He had a perfect example about our... our energy and Biden saying we're producing more oil than ever before. Well, that was on Trump's watch. You can't just flip a switch and have production start. So that's one thing. So if you go back, and I wanted to send you the information, his website. It's Phil Flynn. Very informative on a lot of things.

All right, I'll look him up. Second thing is with this Rashawn judge, why isn't the Supreme Court that shot him down on a lot of things that he was... charging or dropped from being charged, why aren't they saying anything about what he's trying to do now? You know, I will tell you.

Yeah, I will tell you, the Supreme Court in general usually doesn't make commentary on current actions that are going on. They usually will be reserved and wait until it comes to them, and then they'll say their piece. A lot of times if judges start to get...

involved and start making too much commentary, then they have to recuse themselves, and they would be excluded if the case comes before them. So what you'll see, especially with the Supreme Court, is they won't comment on current legal matters in court cases that potentially could come up to them. But I do think Mershon will be, I think he's going to be smacked down in epic fashion on appeal. I don't believe this case. I mean, there's just so many reversible errors that happen during this case.

If it makes it to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Supreme Court will handily smack this down. But I don't think it's going to make it that far. But why aren't they already shutting it down because of their comment coming out what he can and can't do? Well, it's the judicial process. He said he couldn't do.

Yeah, it's the judicial process. They don't step in when you have active things going on. There's an actual formal process that things have to be brought. Right now, my understanding is the Trump legal team is appealing. not to the U.S. Supreme Court, but they're appealing to the lower court, which would be the New York Appellate Court.

So they're probably in the process of doing that now. Now, could they go directly to the Supreme Court and say there's a national issue here and this could have impacts on the nation because he's president-elect? Sure, they could. I don't know if they've done that yet. But the Supreme Court doesn't just step in without being asked. They typically will, they have to be basically applied for intervention.

Typically. Now, the one exception, I don't know. I have to think about this because it's been many years since I've thought about it.

The U.S. Supreme Court did step in in Bush v. Gore during the Florida recount. But I don't remember if either side... the Supreme Court to do that I can't think of any other case where the Supreme Court has stepped in without a writ of some sort being filed with them So I don't know that there's a lawyer out there who knows they could call in and tell us I'm not a lawyer I just

you know, read a lot and study a lot about legal cases, but typically the Supreme Court doesn't just step in. There usually has to be some sort of filing and request for them to step in. Yeah, and Darrell was... Correct, and that should have been taken and put in a different venue because so many Democrats were in that facility or vicinity to select a jury. Yeah, Daryl, remind us. Remind us. Come in and stop that.

Yeah, Daryl, remind us, in the district in which Trump was charged, what percentage of voters voted for Joe Biden? I do believe it was 93%. I'll give a quick fact check on it real quick here. That's my point. Yeah, go ahead, John. Annette, my first thing I was calling about before all these other things you had talked about was my non-mayor's choice.

Bronson got railroaded because of the snow. Well, she ended up having 22 inches of two snowfalls, and it was Washboard City in Anchorage, and here she can't even put any... uh sand trucks on any roads i saw i saw the state out twice yesterday two different places but i did not see one city truck out there sanding anything you know i'm a big i'm a big she got elected

Yeah, well, I'm a big fan of what they call road service areas where you have private contractors that, you know, Eagle River, that's how Eagle River is handled, is effectively the McKenna brothers have the contract right now. You know, look, I think there's a time and a place for a lot of different services, but UC really effective local.

businesses that bid for different service areas out here in the Mat-Su. They do it. They do it in parts of Anchorage up on the hillside specifically and in Eagle River. But the plow-out time for Eagle River, for example, is usually 17 hours from beginning to end. And the plow-out time in Anchorage was hitting almost 100 hours from beginning to end. So that means when they start their route.

From the time they begin to the time they end, it will be, you know, multiple days. Whereas when you bid it out to private contractors, What we're seeing is those surface areas, yes, are a little bit smaller, but they get their machinery out there and they're able to clear their area. So I'm a huge fan of...

local service areas, because I've seen it work so effectively in Shugiak Eagle River. But to your point about the sand trucks, they need to get out there for sure. My guess is you'll see them today. By tonight, hopefully everything will be sanded. I wouldn't hold your breath. Like I say, with the amount of snowfall Bronson had compared to what she's had just in the two snowfalls that we had, it could have been cleared out sooner than what she ended up getting it cleared out at.

Besides the washboards coming out, it just irritates me to no end that she got elected and then all of a sudden the assembly gives her money and stuff where they were beating Bronson upside. Of course. Of course. This is how it's played in Anchorage. Like, look, I remember when Mayor Sullivan was the mayor. I mean, every mayor, it seems like, gets beat up over the snow plowing. I remember ads with Paul Honeman when he was running against mayor where he said,

popping out of snow banks, talking about how bad the snow popping. Look, any mayor who gets a really heavy snow... they're going to struggle with keeping up. I mean, because the way they budget is they typically budget for the average snowfall. They don't budget for the exceptional snowfall because if they did, they would have to have more equipment and more staff on. ready to go and so they don't do that they typically budget for the average snowfall year with that said all things being equal

The Republicans are always going to get beat up in the media over the snow. I mean, that's what's going to happen, because the liberal media is going to go on tirades about how terrible they are with the snow plowing, and the liberals are going to get a pass. I mean, that's the world we live in. I can give you the answer why. I can give you the answer why, okay? They never want to talk bad about a snowflake. Oh, that's true. And based on that snowflake, she blamed...

Bronson from the equipment being broke down and stuff. Well, that's baloney. Yeah, that was a holdover from Berkowitz. She has to blame somebody else for something. And I got a couple of friends, I keep bringing that up to them, saying, hey, what about your mayor that isn't providing sand for the roads in front of your house on a side road? that is crowned pretty good and you can't stand in the middle of it without going to one side or the other. And they don't say anything to me.

Yeah, well, hopefully those sand tracks get out here pretty quick. I mean, they've got to because, like I said, the roads are terrible, especially on the back roads and the side roads. There's no doubt about it. Don, thank you for your call this morning. I appreciate it. I've got to take a quick break. We're going to go ahead and take a break. If you'd like to call in, be part of the show. 522-0650. Now back to the boss.

Amy Demboski. Call 907-522-0650 and be a part of the show on News Radio 650. KENI. Welcome back. Current time is 6.51 on this Tuesday morning. If you're just joining us, all ASD and Matthew Borough schools are closed today. Delayed reporting for J-Bear to 10 a.m. for non-essential personnel. Of course, if you have any questions,

You should contact your chain of command. But side roads, parking lots are all pretty slick. Main roads, Daryl says, are not too bad, just very, very wet. And what am I missing, Daryl? Jay Bear is conditions read, delayed reporting. I said that one. Oh, did you? Oh, I was busy looking. That's okay. I'm busy trying to see what UAA is doing, but they haven't updated anything.

is the super Amy tune-out factor, where he can be doing five things at once and he just tunes me out, but that's okay. Unless you swear. What's funny is the tune-out works unless a swear word or a possible swear word comes up, and then I'm literally like immediately.

going for buttons and stuff. No, that's good. Did you find out for us how many Biden voters are in New York? You were going to fact check that. You know, I was looking in that and so it's kind of funny. It varies all around New York. York, what I came up with for the exact Manhattan area was 78% guaranteed voted for Biden in 2020. That's a lot. So that's 78%. But that wasn't as much as I thought.

It was 13. Turns out, no, it was in the 80s to, you know, high seven. That's so high. That's so high. Well, you know, we'll see what happens. Mershon's going to sentence Trump on Friday. It's all about just labeling Trump as a...

As a felon, that's what it's all about. I mean, that's it. You know, I was watching Trey Gowdy talk about it. You know, I said I was going to move on from this topic, but I just can't do it. But I was watching Trey Gowdy talk on Fox News about it. And, you know, he basically said. the same thing that I was just saying, which is the silver lining to all this is now that there's a sentence, now it's appealable.

basically, now the process can go forward, now Trump can appeal that sentence, and look, the case is going to get thrown out. Merchant's going to be exposed for the hack that he is. I mean, that's the reality. I mean, he... The errors that I thought, you know, I'm a big fan of Alan Dershowitz.

You know, Harvard Law professor, yes, he's a Democrat, but he is a very good constitutional scholar. And I've watched Dershowitz a lot, and I've watched him talk about a lot of different legal cases, and this one in particular. And that's where I have gleaned a lot of my insight, frankly, from this is from a lot of lawyers debating this particular case and watching this case.

But Trey Gowdy is also an attorney. And Trey Gowdy said here's the silver lining. Now that the case will be over, the sentencing is what ends his involvement. then he can perfect his appeal, President Trump. He can appeal all the evidentiary issues. I get the unfairness that I'm sure he feels right now, and it was an unfair trial. You stop and think of the issues going on in New York right now.

And you're going to take time to prosecute a bookkeeping error. So I get the unfairness. But in the long run, I think he is better off having this in the rearview mirror than windshield, despite the unfairness from Judge. you know, Juan Mershon. You know, but again, the good thing is now, according to Trey Gowdy, he says the door is pretty solid appeal. The door is open on a pretty solid appeal. It is, you know, my thing with this is when I'm looking at it is...

His sentencing issues, I don't know if he's doing a run-on sentence or if it's an incomplete sentence, but something's wrong with it. And we just had a caller call in. Bill called in to let us know that... We need to get to Trump to let him know that for his inauguration, he needs to go in an orange jumpsuit. That's funny. That's funny. I don't think it'll happen, but it's funny.

Well, you know, the reality is, look, the American people have spoken loud and clear. The American people see this for what it was. It was lawfare. This was the Democrats using the legal system to try to take out a political opponent. It didn't work. He won resoundingly, and the election was certified yesterday. So there was no issue. The election was certified. He is officially president-elect. We are moving on. Wait a second. So you mean he didn't win because of...

misogyny and racism? It was because people actually thought his policies are going to be so good for America? What a novel thought. Look, I gotta tell you, at the end of the day, People vote their pocketbooks. People vote what's important to them. They vote for their livelihoods. They vote for their security. And the Democrats were tone deaf. All they wanted to call him was a Nazi and Hitler.

and talk about him being a threat to democracy, which Joe Biden said again yesterday, by the way. And a felon. And a felon. And a felon. And a felon. Exactly. That's what this sentencing is all about. It's just so when he swears in, the history books will say he's sworn as a felon. This is what, look, Judge Marchant has Trump derangement syndrome. That's what it is. He is an anti-Trumper. He is a hardcore leftist. He is a terrible judge. If you watch that trial, you'll see. Awful.

Look, it's going to get overturned. I'm not even worried about it. I'm not even worried about it. Not in the slightest. But one other thing that is coming up, Trump is going to be addressing, he's going to be having a press conference here in just a few minutes from Mar-a-Lago, so we'll see what he addresses.

But one of the things that one of our senior senator, our senator, not senior, our junior senator, Dan Sullivan, addressed yesterday is one of Biden's actions as he is walking out the door. So when we come back, we'll get into that, too. Stay with us. We'll be right back. The opinions expressed on this show are those of the host and not of iHeart Media or its employees. You know, Daryl, as I'm watching for Donald Trump to... speak at Mar-a-Lago. He's supposed to be speaking here any minute now at Mar-a-Lago. We'll see what the content of that conversation is. But one thing that flashed on the Fox News that they just had a story to cover, you know, Meta is now suspending their fact-checker program.

Which... Finally! Look, here's the thing. This would have never happened if Donald Trump didn't win the White House. Never would have happened if Donald Trump didn't win the White House. But that's what they're doing is they're suspending their fact checker program. And according to Fox News. They will eliminate third-party fact-checking, shifting to a community notes program, lifting...

Lifting restrictions on topics like immigration and gender identity. Increasing political content for those who want it. So, effectively, the error of their hardcore censorship is being suspended. I'm not saying the error is over, because here's the thing about leftists. Leftists always tend to trend towards totalitarianism. Authoritarianism. Look, they can't help it. A little bit of power...

And it goes straight to their heads, and then they – we saw what happened in the municipality of Anchorage during COVID. Oh, yeah. Right? So – The reality is when leftists get power, oftentimes it goes straight to their head and they go straight to authoritarian. They want to control. They want to take more of your autonomy.

and they want to dictate to you what you can and can't do. I'll never forget. I remember when the plastic bag ban was being debated in Anchorage, and Chris Constant effectively said, You know, we're going to put this 10, they put this 10 cents a bag, you know, effectively, I don't even want to call it a tax because the government doesn't even collect it. It's a penalty.

They put 10 cents a bag because they want to change people's behavior. That was what he said. The whole goal was to change people's behavior. And it's through negative, and when they say change of behavior, this is through a negative method of changing behavior. It's not like they're rewarding you. They are punishing you because of your behavior that they personally don't like.

Yeah, exactly. So as we see, this is where they're going. But do you think for one second Mark Zuckerberg would have had a change of heart if Donald Trump didn't win the White House? No. Are you kidding me? Look at all the way up to the election. He was still supporting. Look, here's the thing.

He saw the tea leaves. After Donald Trump got shot, all of a sudden, Mark Zuckerberg, everybody in the nation just said he just won the election. When he stood up after being shot in the head, and he's like, fight, fight, fight. Everybody who's a political savant, you don't even have to be a political savant, anybody who is a political anything said, oh, Trump just won, right? Trump just won. And so as you started looking at...

I mean, that's the moment you started seeing Zuckerberg. Remember, he went down and met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. And, you know, all of a sudden they start saying, oh, you know what I think it is. It's because all their dirty deeds are going to get exposed. Let's be honest. This is why...

All these tech people. This is why all these people that were so hardcore in the pain for the leftists. This is why you saw them backing off Kamala really quickly, sucking up to Trump because they know their dirty deeds are going to be exposed. Like, let's be honest. Another thing that he's doing that I thought was really important also is he is going to be moving their content moderation teams out of California.

And he's moving them to Texas. That's a huge thing right there because literally the content moderators in California were nothing but raging liberals. Raging liberals. Of course. Of course they were. And, you know, again. You know, this is why I say don't believe for one second that Mark Zuckerberg is all of a sudden a conservative and has changed his way and believes in free speech.

You know, he's surviving, right? Because one thing that it has to worry about is same with Google, is they have to worry about potential antitrust issues, right? So as they get bigger and bigger and bigger, then they start saying, people start looking at somebody like Google. for example, I'm switching gears now, but look, is Google too big? Is it...

Are they too big? Do they have too much control? So these are the things that these CEOs are starting to realize is they have four years to work with the Trump administration, and a lot can happen in four years. So this is all about self-reservation. Well, you are 100% right. I'm pretty sure.

Share all that, Amy. Yeah. Well, interesting. I don't know if, I know, Daryl, you do, but I don't know how many folks follow what's happening internationally. I can't even believe it. I used to live in England when I was in the military. Hang on. I don't want it. Deny. Okay. But the amount of censorship that is happening right now all across Europe, especially in England, is almost mind-boggling. As Americans, we almost can't even comprehend what we're seeing.

there internationally, but people are literally being put in jail for their Facebook posts that offend people, right? Oh, you stressed somebody out. You offended somebody. And people are literally going to jail for their Facebook posts. And, I mean, I saw this one woman who was assaulted. I mean, she was spit on by, you know, by an immigrant. to England and she said

I was, she was like, that dirty, filthy immigrant just spit on me. And she was getting in trouble for the police because she said the dirty, filthy immigrant. And rather than the fact that she was assaulted and she was spit on. She was being, because she offended their sensibilities, and her language was offensive.

Well, there was an old guy that was going to jail also. I mean, literally, I watched a video of them arresting him, and it was because he reposted something somebody else said, and he reposted it as, look how horrible this is. This shouldn't be, you know, there, and... They arrested him for reposting it, but not the person who originally posted it.

I'm telling you, I think there could be a change ahead. I have this article up now. This is from Bazinga. So I don't always go here, but Bazinga.com. Musk holds poll to figure out if the U.S. should liberate the U.K. French... President Macron says ex-owner is backing a new reactionary movement. So again, Elon Musk has taken to Twitter to say, wait a second.

Should we, should we help the people of Europe actually gain free speech ability? Like, should we do it, right? So his post specifically said America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government. And this is what it's talking about. The poll has attracted significant attention with over 35.3 million views. and 1.74 million votes, the majority of voters were in favor of Musk's statement, while 42% were against it. Imagine that.

You know when we start talking about again, I think as Americans we often think not like How is it people can't even share their opinion when they disagree with their government? We talked about this yesterday, Daryl. Look what happened to the truck drivers in Canada. Their bank accounts were seized, right? I mean, the fact that I think this is one of our most fundamental freedoms that a lot of Americans, frankly, take for granted considering what you can and can't say in other countries.

I mean, we've all known you can't go to Iran and obviously espouse Christian values. You can't go to China. And largely do the same. And so it's not like go to China and start speaking out against government and my guess is you're going to end up in a prison somewhere or some sort of concentration camp. The reality is, but you would never think as an American when you post on social media, you know, Joe Biden's a crook or, you know, liberalism is a mental disorder.

or, you know, men who think their women have gender dysphoria and need mental help. If you post any of those things over in Britain, you're probably going to end up in jail. I mean, if you're critical of their government, if you're critical of... others in society. And the reality is, is the First Amendment, the real... issue with the First Amendment. It's meant to protect unpopular speech. And through the course of debate and discourse, that's how Americans solve their civil disagreements.

Let's always do our scientific method is that, and that was a big censorship on the COVID. You know, you weren't allowed to question the government's direct line, even though a lot of us are like, well, that can't be right. No, no, you cannot question it. Don't even dare during COVID say the virus came from China. Exactly. Don't even dare. Yeah, exactly. But again, when you start thinking about meta and you start thinking about business and you think about

how much money flows in from China to all these different businesses. This isn't really about being racist at all. It's about these corporations and these government officials protecting their money train. Let's be honest. Let's be honest. It's always about money. It always comes down to money and power. Everybody say it with me. Amy's catchphrase, follow the money.

Follow the money. I know. And I'm such an optimist, Daryl. I sound like a pessimist, but I'm such an optimist. But that's the reality. All right. Let's go ahead and take another break. If you'd like to call in and be part of the show, 522-0650. You're listening to live, local, and always insightful Morning Drive Radio with Amy Demboski on NewsRadio 650 KENI. Get on the show now by calling 9075... 822-0650.

Welcome back. Current time, 719. On this glorious Tuesday morning, Anchorage schools and Mat-Su schools are closed today due to hazardous road conditions. So we're hearing lots and lots about how bad the side roads are. especially in neighborhoods. The highway seems to be okay, just lots of standing water on it. But do be careful if you're out and about driving today. Well, the big news yesterday, Joe Biden on his way out the door.

slapped us in the face. What did he do? He took 625 million acres. This is the stuff your insurance company... Sorry, Daryl. He took 625 million acres off the shelf, so to speak, and said, nope, you cannot... You cannot drill for oil and gas in these oceans. According to a statement from Joe Biden, the White House said, in protecting more than 625 million acres of the U.S. ocean from offshore drilling, President Biden...

has determined that the environmental and economic risks and harms that would result from drilling in these areas outweigh their limited fossil fuel resource potential. Okay. I've got to be honest with you. When you start looking at the potential, especially, I mean, this basically is all of Alaska. All of Alaska coastline, right? That's basically he wiped it out. You go up and down the East Coast, the West Coast. I mean, significant impacts. He did it through an executive order.

You know, hearkening back to the presidential authority to take some of these off of off of the docket. Trump's going to try to reverse it straight away. There's no doubt. Trump's already spoke on it. He said he's going to undo it on day one. There's still a debate whether it will. take congressional action to help undo this. But we read to you yesterday the response from

Congressman Nick Bagich, and today I'm going to play for you the response of Senator Dan Sullivan. So Dan Sullivan was on Fox News talking about this particular issue, and this was his response. We'll bring it to you here in just a second. Daryl's just loading it up. Was I too quick for you, Daryl?

Well, no surprise. Right. From day one, this administration has sought to shut down American energy. I think the president Biden's legacy is going to be the worst president in American history in terms of American energy. And, you know. What they did, their policies led to dramatic increases in inflation, weakening America's strength. One of our great strengths is American energy, as you know, John.

Killing thousands of American jobs. So this is no surprise. The good news is and I was just on the House floor with senators and. House colleagues were very excited about implementing the mandate that President Trump received during the November election. And that's all about unleashing American energy, the Trump administration's first term. Probably the best ever, in my view, certainly for Alaska.

in terms of unleashing American energy, and we're going to do it again with Republicans in the House, Senate, and Donald Trump in the White House. Woo-hoo! I think he could have stopped. You know, his sentence was a little long in that when he said...

He thinks Joe Biden has cemented his legacy as the worst president in American history. He said on energy. He could have stopped and said the worst president in American history. It would have been accurate there. Right now, I also want to bring up something that Don mentioned.

not getting enough attention, in my opinion. You'll listen to the left and the mainstream media, and they keep telling you, are you kidding? America is producing more energy, more gas, more oil than it has ever done in its past. We are looking. what Joe Biden has done. No oil and gas. And this is the problem is anywhere from five to 15 years to get something in the system and then back out of it again. And so everything that's being produced right now, this massive amounts.

is because of what Trump did in his time period and some before that. Go ahead. You're exactly right. These things take a lot of effort. Look, Joe Biden, I think, has cemented his legacy. He will go down as the worst president in American history, in my view. I think he's worse than Carter was. I think Joe Biden is certainly in my lifetime. I think he has been on a national security front. He has been an absolute.

disaster on an economic front. He's been an absolute disaster. So when you start looking at Joe Biden and you look at the safety, security, and prosperity of the U.S. in all of those categories, Joe Biden has failed miserably. His policies have actually made us weaker and made us less safe. There's no arguing that. You look at the retention rates in the military. You look at our military readiness.

look at the destabilization globally that has happened since Joe Biden has come in, look, we're not respected on a global stage. Because Joe Biden is not respected. He's weak. People know he's weak. I mean, we've said it many times. It's like Weekend at Bernie's. The guy, he can't make his way off stage. But the handlers that he has surrounding himself are the hardest left we've ever seen. Worse than Obama's team, which is unbelievable.

But that's the reality. And so now our delegation has a very big task in front of them in that Joe Biden has just taken significant. significant oil and gas potential for Alaska, I mean, off the table, and said, nope, can't ever develop here. I do think it'll get undone. But, you know, there will be lots of lawsuits about it. I mean, you know, according to Trump yesterday, I was listening to him yesterday.

and he said he's going to come in on day one and sign an executive order to undo this, it'll immediately be filed with a lawsuit saying he can't do it, right? I think you do the multi-factor approach. What do you do? You go in, Trump does the EO to undo it, then Congress also passes something to undo it, because Congress can undo this. So we'll see.

We'll see what happens and how they take it, but make no mistake, this is not going to be easy. We're going to be fought with lawsuits every single step of the way. In fact, you know, I think what you're also going to see is, you know, Shifty Adam Shift, he was on the news yesterday. A Daily Caller has an article up. You know, they're already talking. They're already hinting. They're not saying the word impeachment, but they're already hinting. We'll vigorously push back.

Democrat rep talks impeachment before inauguration. This was the Daily Caller's article. That was their headline. Democratic California rep Adam Schiff hinted Monday on CNN at the possibility of impeachment. just weeks before President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration. This is why it is so important for us to maintain control of the House. Because the House is where articles of impeachment come from, and then the trial happens in the Senate.

So if the Democrats take control of the House, you can bet a dollar to the donut they're going to go down this whole impeachment rabbit trail again. They're going to do anything they can to slow him down, to stop him. Now, I think Trump is a very smart individual. He will learn from the history. He will definitely, definitely learn from his first term.

And I think he'll be far more effective in the second term. I think he had a great first term. But I think he was... I can't even imagine the things that were thrown at this man, the fact that he was able just to continue on and actually get things done in his first term and then come back and win second term.

After he, you know, Biden has four years in the middle. I mean, it's just unbelievable. The lawfare, the impeachments, the media. I mean, it's just unbelievable what he's got through, what he has gone through. only during his first term, but to get back to the White House. And now, here we go, Adam Schiff, who, again, I would be interested to learn more about his ties to China.

Peter Schweitzer has done a pretty good job in logging some of them. But the reality is, you know, this is all politics for these guys. It's all politics for these guys. But, you know, like everything else, Daryl, once Trump gets in and gets some good things done, if we don't have a permanent roadmap, to solidify what is done, the left can come right back in just like a Joe Biden did and undo it. So this is why I keep coming back to the same thing over and over again.

If the Republicans actually want to be successful, not just, you know, win the battle but win the war, they have got to deal with immigration. And I'm not talking about a pathway to citizenship. I'm talking about ending birthright citizenship. And I'm talking about stop counting foreigners in your census for apportionment you cannot do it it that's because that's the motivation for the left

That's why they support open borders, because they support open borders, they flood the country with foreigners, with all these immigrants, and then they count them for apportionment, and then they're able to take over Congress permanently. That's what this is all about. And if Republicans don't have the intestinal fortitude and the backbone to actually deal with that issue, that fundamental motivating issue, we're going to lose the war.

I don't disagree with you at all. I'm thinking to myself right now, part of Trump's plan is to, they're talking about a big bill with all the stuff stuffed into it. And the Democrats are like going, well, you know, we don't like that idea unless. You add DACA citizenship and some more immigration and all these immigration reforms that they want. They're not reforming immigration. They're opening it up.

They're solidifying their nonsense. And that's why I say, and this is the hard part, is there's a lot of wheat-need Republicans out there that don't have the stomach to do it. Because they're going to be called a racist and they're going to be called, you know, Islamophobic and they're going to be called, you know, xenophobic and all nationalists and all these whatever they're going to be called. The reality is.

Yet you have to fix the motivating factor that is why the Democrats are doing this. They're flooding the zone with illegals to count them into the census. so they get more congressional seats. That's it. That's it. It's really not more complicated than that. And the fact is, I don't see anybody talking about that census issue. And it's driving me crazy because it's obvious what the strategy is. But if Republicans waste this opportunity, they have about a year and a half.

And then we are facing midterms. If Republicans don't get their act together and stay on the same page and get some real reforms in, we are not going to maintain the House, which means... Trump will probably be facing his third impeachment. Oh, yeah, third impeachment, and you'll see everything else get shot down, no matter what.

Yeah, exactly. So, again, I think the Trump team knows what's at stake here. I think they're smart enough to understand this. I'm just hoping we have Republicans that have the guts to do it. All right, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. If you'd like to call in, 522-0650. Amy Demboski, 6 to 8, mornings on News Radio 650, KENI. Call now, 907-522-0650. Welcome back, Current Time 738. President Trump is now speaking at Mar-a-Lago.

in advance of his Friday sentencing, which is crazy. But he is talking on a variety of topics. He had a gentleman there. I didn't catch who he was with. His last name was Hussain, but I didn't catch who he was with. But he was talking about his company coming into the U.S. and investing.

millions and millions of dollars. And Trump said for those people that are coming into the U.S. and willing to invest, you know, billions and millions of dollars, that they are going to streamline permitting process, environmental process. So it shouldn't take them 14 years to get a permit. They should be able to get a permit in a couple of weeks. So Trump is... He is actively soliciting people to come and invest into the country, and that's how he kicked off his press conference.

He has already touched on the topic of Biden trying to ban offshore drilling. And he said he'll reverse that immediately. Immediately he'll reverse it. He said, you know, when he met with Biden, Biden, their administration promised. that this would be a smooth transition. He said it's anything but smooth. They're being obstructionists. They're doing everything that they can to obstruct the new administration coming in, including playing with the courts.

courts that those were trump's words that's a quote playing with the courts he said the level of lawfare has been terrible they've weaponized justice and and he said you know we've done nothing wrong in any of these cases and the American

people saw that. They overwhelmingly voted for him, and he took all seven swing states, won the popular vote by millions. He said, I call it the Department of Injustice, not the Department of Justice. Imagine that. Imagine that, Darrell. You know, you're an employee.

at the Department of Justice and you hear the president of the United States coming in saying it's the Department of Injustice. I don't think you're surprised, though, considering the level of lawfare that has been waged against this man. Well, I'd say at least half of those agents in there probably.

They're nodding their head going, yep. Agreed. Yep. Agree with it. Agreed. Because they've been in the belly of the beast and they've seen their performance. And they haven't been able to fix it. Those that try get fired.

Yeah. The other thing that Trump just mentioned, which Alaska should take note, is he said, you know, in some areas, he's like, it's incredible how long it's taken them to count votes. He goes, you know, in some areas, they're still counting votes. In some areas, they're still. Now, look.

The election's been certified on a federal level already, but he says in some areas they're still counting votes. It's terrible. He said they should have the votes counted by 10 o'clock on election night. He's like, so we're going to work on that. So it'll be interesting to see what happens with federal. election laws and federal election reform. I don't know what he has in mind, but Alaska's waiting 15, 20 days to give us a final tally. I think if Trump had his way that would not be so.

So we'll see what comes of it. But right now, President Trump is speaking at Mar-a-Lago. And I'm sure after the press conference is over, I'm sure there will be lots of headlines out speaking about specifically things. been talking about all right let's go ahead and go to the phones we'll start with gary good morning gary uh good morning hang on uh good morning i have a question you know

Joe Biden and all these things he's signing. When you have a prosecutor that says he's not mentally capable of being prosecuted because he's an old man with a memory. And we all see it. We've seen it. The whole world's seen it at the debate. And when you're looking at him and you see all this paper being pushed to him, how... I call this a senior abuse because he's mentally incapable. And because he's mentally incapable, that brings the lawful...

to say he's incapable of signing a contract because he's mentally impaired. And so how can any of this stuff... be legit, all of his pardons, all of that. In fact, I think that the people pushing that paper to him to sign should be convicted of abuse. to a senior. And I would recommend everybody to call our congressional Murkowski and Sullivan and baggage. To ask that question, how could somebody mentally impaired sign any contract?

You know, you make a good point. And I think, you know, here's the thing. We've all known. We all saw the debate. I mean, it was absolutely horrible. And, you know, the stories coming out of the White House since about 2021 have talked about Joe Biden. the lack of mental ability and his confusion clearly he is he has Moments of clarity, but he has very many moments where he's confused. He wanders off. I mean, everybody's seen it.

And the reality is, is his cabinet did not do their job, right? There's a constitutional mechanism for removing a president that doesn't have the capacity to discharge his office or do his duties, and that's the 25th Amendment. They didn't do that. So the reality is, is getting Joe Biden's own own cabinet to attest to his mental fitness. Look, they've sat silent for the past.

three and a half years, and they haven't done their job. So getting a court then to say all of his actions are invalid, I think, would be very difficult. But I think you're exactly right. I mean, the reality is the... constitution the way it was framed it wasn't used the way it was intended to which was to remove a president who didn't have the capacity to do the job unfortunately we've come into a time where

One side has said no matter the deficits of our leader, we're going to keep them in place because we don't want to upset the apple card. I mean, that's the reality. I mean, I don't know, Daryl. I think Gary's right. I don't think Joe Biden has the mental acuity to do the job, but without his cabinet invoking the 25th Amendment, what is there to do?

You know, honestly, I think he has the acuity to do his job between 1201 and 1201.30. There's like 15 seconds there that if something happened, he could probably deal with it. But after that. Yeah, no, he's not capable and we all know it and they all know it, you know.

I saw somebody on the news last night making the argument if Joe Biden doesn't have the capacity to do the job, all of these executive orders and stuff should be invalidated. But, you know, when I go to that, if you go to that legal challenge, you're going to have to prove capacity, whether he did or didn't have capacity at that time. And who among the Biden White House is going to say, I'm the one who put the paper in front of him, because then they will be basically.

You know, admitting the bill. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So, again, I think I think Gary's right. I just don't think it'll ever, I think the most efficient way to deal with this is for Trump to basically, and Congress to undo many of Biden's actions. But you still have to put systems in place to make sure that they just don't willy-nilly undo.

do everything as soon as Trump's out of office again. And that's the hardest thing. Otherwise, or other than the fact that I feel honestly, if they do everything right in this administration, J.D. Vance is gonna take the next two. Oh, that's my hope. That is my hope. I gotta tell you, that is my hope.

Well, as we close out the show, there's one more story that I wanted to just plug really quick, and then I will take a quick break, and we'll be back with more of your calls. But before I do, I know a lot of you have been following the Gabrielle Ledoux trial here at the state level.

And according to the ADN, the state is planning to retry former Representative Gabrielle Ledoux in the election misconduct case after she recently had a mistrial in December. So the Alaska Department of Law is planning to retry. Representative Gabrielle Ledoux. Ledoux is a Republican former state legislator. In 2020, was accused by state prosecutors of encouraging people who did not live in her district to vote for her.

in both 2014 and 2018. LeDue 76 faces 12 election misconduct charges that include five felonies. She pled not guilty. So that case will be going back. to the Alaska court system. That's what it says. So we will keep you updated on that. Right now, we're going to go ahead and take a quick break. If you'd like to call in, 522-0650. Welcome back to live, local, and insightful Morning Drive Radio on NewsRadio 650 KENI.

Welcome back. Current time 751. Well, on his way out the door, not only is Joe Biden, you know, commuted sentences of murderers and all kinds of people, terrible people. What else has he done? Yesterday he released 11 terrorists from Guantanamo Bay and he announced that he's sending them to Oman. You know my first thought is, oh, man. Yep, according to Fox News here. Biden admin sends 11 Guantanamo detainees to Oman for resettlement. A couple of them were bodyguards of Osama bin Laden.

And, you know, we'll see. Again, he says here's a quote from. uh... from the defense department the united states appreciates the willingness of the government of online and other partners to support ongoing u.s. efforts focused on responsibly reducing the detainee population and ultimately closing the guantanamo bay facility again you know terrorists acquired on the battlefield once you've extracted every single

ounce of information from them i think you know i'm sorry but especially i have no sympathy for the for the terrorists that helped plan 9-11 or protected the people that did so i think the penalty should be death That's Amy's hardcore position, but you know, what am I going to say? Do you honestly think these people are not going to, like, they have not been reformed. I don't think you've made them worse.

Exactly. You're going to release them and you don't think it's going to come back and bite you in the tail? Of course it is. Of course it is. All right, let's go to the phones. And Tom is with us. Good morning, sir. Morning, Amy. Thank you for taking my call. Oh my goodness, identity politics. I just got a quick joke for you. Okay, go for it. It's an old one. It's an old one.

Knock, knock. Who's there? How the heck should I know? White men took my land. Oh, you told us that one before, I think. And we have to tell people, you're Alaska native, so you've told us you're allowed to tell those jokes. Exactly, exactly. I just want to put some humor in stuff. You've got to laugh a little. And I've got to give you this. So that was an interesting joke. How about this? When does a joke become a dad joke?

When? When you get old. Not when it becomes apparent. There you go. Oh, that was really bad. Oh, man. So what's on your mind, Tom? We only have a minute or two left here. Oh, just stuff in general. And I'm convinced, you know, Joe Biden, he seems incompetent. But pretty much... Watching him for the last four years, I'm convinced it's a show. He knows exactly what he's doing. Interesting theory. That is actually an interesting theory. Yeah, no, no, no, no. Hey.

Pretend you're stupid. People leave you alone. Look in there. You know, and people have been treating him a little bit. I mean, look, he has. His comms team, where are they going to work after this? They have been treated with the kid gloves from the beginning, and it wasn't until, you know, after the debate that, like, the emperor had no clothes. All of a sudden, when you couldn't hide it to the majority,

of the American population. All of a sudden, then the press started asking a little bit of questions, but they've never really been held accountable. Truly. Yeah, and there's no honor among thieves. So all these people, like our local politics to the national scale, you know, once they're done with you, they will throw you away. At the very least, you know, they'll leave you alone or they'll strip you of your finances or they will take you out.

Well, I will tell you, I can't wait for the Trump administration to come in. We have about 13 days to go. Right? Daryl's been watching the countdown clock until the Trump inauguration. We have about 13 days to go. And I think the American people are really ready for swamp cleaning. I think it's time to...

The only way you're going to rebuild trust, whether it's the media, whether it's the DOJ, whether it's the FBI, take your pick. The only way you're going to rebuild trust is if you tell them the truth. Now, do I think we'll get the truth in every single topic? No. There will be lots of things that will be classified that will remain so. But I think there really needs to be.

real robust change in leadership at the DOJ, at the FBI, take your pick, at a lot of these organizations. And I think Trump is laser-focused this time. You know, I've said this before. When he first ran, the very first... time. I was not initially a Trump supporter. I was a Ted Cruz supporter. But Trump has won me over because it wasn't that I was anti-Trump. He just seemed more of a populist. And I tend to be more of an analytical constitutionalist, I would say.

and more of a Trump, I mean, more of a Ted Cruz, Rand Paul type. That's kind of my personality. But I think in this day and age, Trump is the man who is in the position who can make the difference. And I think he has the right vision. And do we agree on every single topic? Probably not. But the majority of them, yeah. And so I think he's going to do some good stuff.

So our Trump countdown has begun. It has 12 days, 12 hours, 3 minutes, and 12 seconds. 10 seconds. Oh, look at that. We love it. We love it. All right, well, that does it for Daryl and I today. Stay tuned. Clay Travis and Buck Sexton are on deck.

Don't forget, I want to say this one more time, Anchorage Schools and Mattson Schools are closed today due to the icy road conditions. So please, please be careful. Mike Piccaro will be back this afternoon from 4 to 6. Daryl and I will see you tomorrow morning. at 6 a.m. Until then, stay safe. God bless.
