Episode description

New figures from the UAE’s Ministry of Interior revealed that 7,000 fines were given out last year for noise violations. More than 3,000 of those were related to car horns and blasting loud music, while around 4,000 violations were linked to vehicles causing excessive noise, due to illegal engine modifications or reckless driving habits. Katie Chambers speaks with Dr Erica Walker, an internationally-recognised expert on noise and public health to find out what really comprises noise pollution and how it affects our wellbeing.

The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi also shares how they actually monitor noise pollution and their aim with the noise mapping initiative.

Plus, for the first time in nearly 50 years, new lunar samples have arrived on Earth — and the first time China has ever shared them with international scientists. Professor Mahesh Anand from The Open University in the UK tells The Agenda why this moon dust is such a scientific game-changer and what exactly researchers will be doing with it in their labs.
