Fire safety on school buses
Apr 11, 2025•55 min
Episode description
From the 15th April, all school buses will be required to install automatic fire suppression systems—essentially, a built-in fire extinguisher that activates if a fire starts in the engine. It’s part of the government’s wider push to raise fire safety standards, and it affects more than 17,000 school buses across the country. Katie Chambers speak with Sam Malins, the CEO of ReacTON, one of the key manufacturers of these systems here in the UAE and David Campbell from Emirates Safety Laboratory, to understand how these systems are tested and approved.
