Hi , I'm Claire and I'm an executive assistant with ADHD inattentive type . If you're familiar with ADHD , you may know that one of the hallmarks is difficulty with executive functioning .
So the fact that I'm an executive assistant with difficulty in executive functioning may be counterintuitive , but it works well and I'm hoping I can explain that , and so much more during this podcast .
The purpose of this podcast is simple to help people who deal with ADHD , whether by having it or by living , parenting or working with people with it , and doing so in short , standalone , easily digestible episodes .
In a perfect world where I'm successful at this , there will be plenty of episodes to flip through so you can find episodes that apply to your specific need . I was diagnosed last year at 31 years old with fairly severe ADHD . I'd learned a lot of tricks to help me prior to my diagnosis and have learned significantly more since .
I am a fairly open book about my journey because I believe neurodivergence is far more common than perhaps most people realize and the only way to destigmatize it is to talk about it . I'm not ashamed , because my ADHD is both a gift and a burden , and when people are aware, they're more understanding . I want that understanding and empathy to be given to everyone .
Now , it's important to point out that I am not a medical professional , nor do I have a degree in psychology or neurobiology . I am simply someone with ADHD who has done a lot of research , tried a lot of things and most recently , was a spokesperson for ADHD within my company . In fact , that was the catalyst for this podcast .
I was interviewed for ADHD Awareness Month , October , and at the end of my second hour-long interview I joked that I felt ready to launch a podcast on the subject , and the two interviewers were very seriously encouraging it .
Since then , I've had people indicate interest , including suggesting topics they'd like to see , be it parenting kids with ADHD , being a parent with ADHD , what it was like to have undiagnosed ADHD as a child, functioning in an office with ADHD , how to not drive your non-ADHD spouse up a wall with your ADHD symptoms , etc .
I've spent a lot of time and effort learning to live with my ADHD instead of against it , and I hope this podcast can help others find empathy and understanding while learning to be more aware of neurodivergence in our society . This podcast is brought to you by FWH Productions and was produced and edited by well me .
If you'd like to support this podcast , please give it a five-star rating , share episodes with your friends and join me on Facebook by following our group , the ADHD EA Podcast . Thank you so much for listening and I look forward to having you with me on this journey .
