Karen Silkwood was a young whistle blower that worked for the Kerr/McGee company. At the time Kerr/McGee was the largest employer in the state of Oklahoma. When Silkwood became aware of some safety issues she brought it to the attention of a New York City newspaper reporter. On her way to meet the reporter November 13th 1974 her car mysteriously left the road and she was killed in the accident. The evidence she had with her disappeared.
