Another year of classic 2000s pop music begins on the podcast where every week we are reliving the 40 biggest selling singles of this week 40 years ago. It's 2005, and things are about to change in a big way as the download charts get added to the main chart.


Before that happens, however, we are in for some very weird, but very fascinating, top 40s. Where else would you see Elvis Presley, fully dead since 1977, battling it out with a 20-year-old metal song, a new track from 80s synth legends Erasure, a catchy piece of Eurotrance, an X Factor winner as well as new tracks from Kasabian and the Scissor Sisters, both desperate to get their second top 10 hits. Will they do it, and who will get the 999th UK number one.
