Logline: The chef and waitress's romance hits a major roadblock when he declares his love but she holds back due to her tragic past, leading to a painful break when they realize they disagree about having children.

Episode 5 Summary:

Dan tells April he loves her but she struggles to say it back, confessing to her mom Veronica her doubts due to her past failed relationships and guilt over an affair long ago. Veronica gets Dan on the phone to overhear April's fears. After affirming his feelings, the couple finally declares love but later argues over kids.

Not wanting children because of a prior loss, April suggests a break. A distraught Dan decides to leave for Texas to see family, telling April their future depends on her. The sudden rupture leaves their once blissful romance on shaky ground.
