BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
God’s Word tells us how to live successfully to please the Lord and to reach others for Christ. Listen to 2 Peter 1:6: “Add to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, and to perseverance godliness.”
You have three things here to put into effect, and God will help you wonderfully well when you do it all. First, you need to have knowledge from the Word of God, from reading and heeding what God says. So add to that self-control. Be in charge of your life. Don’t let people or things or circumstances keep you from serving the Lord effectively and successfully. And then add to self-control perseverance. Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Don’t stop. Keep on keeping on. And ask God to forgive you when you do stub your toe, when you do mess up, when you do something wrong, when you say something that isn’t pleasing to the Lord or hurts somebody else. And then add to perseverance godliness. Godliness means that you’re as much like Jesus as you can possibly be. And when you do mess up, you ask for forgiveness immediately, and you don’t keep doing the wrong thing. But you do the right thing by telling other people how to get to Heaven. Who do you know whom you could help by telling them how?
