EV battery chemistries and battery pack design continues to evolve.  There is a growing move away from the typical rare earth materials used in most EV batteries today such as cobalt, nickel and manganese.  EV batteries that use sodium, boron, fluoride, iron, sulfur, and even coal are being currently developed as the price per kWh continues to fall.
