Its the state's longest highway, second in the United States only to Montana State Route 200. Its California State Route 1, best known in its most picturesque sections as the Pacific Coast Highway. Problem is that getting to appreciate that beauty up close is coming at a very high price as climate change plays havoc with California's ability to keep the road open.
