If you want the latest news in technology reviews of great new tech hardware and software, along with helpful tech tips, then Tech Brewed with Greg Doig is the podcast for you and everyone that loves tech. Welcome to this week's episode of Tech Brewed. It's Saturday, February 25th, 2023. This week we're gonna cover some updates from Google that are rolling out and some may be still rolling out.

Starting out with from images to videos and how AI is helping you search visually from Google, Google is continuing to invest heavily in artificial intelligence to make its products and services more helpful and intuitive. This investment is demonstrated through advancements in language understanding. Image understanding, video understanding, and real world understanding, which are being incorporated into a variety of new products and services. So if you can see it, you can search.

It says Google. Google is introducing an update to their lens feature, which will allow Android users to search what they see on their. Such as photos and videos with the help of their Google Assistant. This will help users to quickly find information on landmarks or other items they see in photos or videos without needing to switch to a different app or experience mix and match ways to search.

Google Lens has released its new multis search feature, which allows users to search with pictures and text at the same time in all languages and countries with the Google lens. With an added ability to search locally with near me feature, the feature will be expanded globally and will be available on any image seen in search results. Artificial intelligence will be used to expand the possibilities of the feature in the future Magic Eraser by Google.

If you haven't heard about that, Google is expanding the availability of their Pixel phone Magic Eraser feature to other phones, devices, and operating systems. With a paid Google One subscription. They are also introducing a new H D R video effect and new styles to the collage editor, both of which require a Google one subscription. Except for use on pixel foams. So if you don't have a pixel foam, you gotta paint.

And of course, that all comes to us from google.com, and that's the update from Google for this week from Tech Brood. We've talked about spearfishing in the past and fishing attacks on different individuals and companies. Recently, there was an article that was covered pretty well on the internet, but I'm gonna just give you the brief highlights. Reddit recently experienced a data breach due to a sophisticated and highly targeted spearfishing attack.

The attacker set up a website that impersonated the company's intranet gateway and sent targeted phishing emails to Reddit employees to steal credentials and two factor authentication tokens. The threat actor was able to access some internal company data, though Reddit mentioned that no production systems were. Fortunately, the employee realized they were tricked quickly and reported it to the security team so the person was not able to access too much.

But this does indicate, apparently it seems that the attacker had some familiarity with Reddit's intranet site. This attack highlights the importance of authentication and security awareness training. Which can be the difference between a successful or unsuccessful attack. In a recent article on the website, apple insider.com, they did a review of the best laser printers compatible with Mac computers for 2023.

So the review included details such as printer features, cost efficiency, and ease of setup. So I'm giving you a summary here of their recommendations starting off with the brother, M F C L 8 9 0 0 C D W, for business owners with high print volumes. Next up the brother HL dash L 2390 dw. And that one's recommended for homes or small offices with occasional print jobs. Now the printer, the Can Color Image class, MF 60 44 C D W for its cost of ownership, easy setup and image print quality.

Another printer of the HP Color Laser Jet Pro multifunction. M 4 79 F D W, which is recommended for its reliability and fair toner cost. Another one from Canon is the Canon image class MF 4 51. DW recommended for mainly printing and black and white, and for being cheaper without sacrificing quality. And finally, the Cannon image, class L B P 60 30 w. Recommended for simple and cost effective black and white wireless printing.

So if you're using a Mac computer and you're looking for a new laser printer for 2023, those other recommendations from Apple and cider.com, which was posted recently on their website, please come back for our weekly podcast and please share our site. Wait, we're not done yet. Don't forget to sign up for my newsletter@gregdoig.com and thank you for listening.
