Here's your tech tip about a change coming from Microsoft about Microsoft teams in their free version, which they're calling their classic version that's currently available. They're about to retire teams free.
Microsoft has been reorganized in their apps and Microsoft 365 and other places, and they're changing pricing on some products like Teams. Microsoft Teams Essentials will be the replacement for the current free version of Teams Classic. So after April 12th, 2023, Microsoft Teams Free Classic. The Legacy version of the Free Teams app for business will no longer be available. You'll have to switch to a paid plan to keep your data where it is currently in the application.
If you're not going to do that, follow the steps that I'm about to give you to download your files that are currently shared in a teams chatter channel in a free version of teams. So first, you're gonna open up your Microsoft Teams application. Next, select the files on the left in the teams section that you're in after you open. Then three, download and using the ellipses to the right select download from the dropdown menu.
Four. The selected files will be downloaded to your default download folder or to another one if you choose. So the new offering, they're gonna call Teams Essentials and can be bought separately from Microsoft 365. You'll have access to a different set of features than you did with the current teams free. And your data won't be retained if you don't switch to the paid one. So you, again, we gave you the steps to download. So if you're not gonna switch to the essentials, do the download.

And the new version, again, teams Free will be a free app that you can use on your computer, tablet, or phone. It will let you talk to people, share photos, and do video calls with your friends. And. It also has a feature called Communities where you can join special conversations and share within the communities things like your pictures and videos.
