Well , hello teachers , and welcome to your Monday Mindset podcast episode .
These are short , little snippets of thoughts , reflections that I share with you on a weekly basis , that are focused around mindset things that we can do to live our best lives , to live an intentional life , and I invite you to not just listen to these for yourself and how they apply to you in your life , but consider sharing them with other people too .
Consider sharing them with your students every Monday and having a conversation about it and doing a reflection together , because I think a lot of these thoughts , these topics , these questions are just a part of being human , and sometimes being human can feel lonely and to know that other people are struggling through some of the same challenges that you are and are
benefiting from having these types of conversations is hugely powerful in allowing us to get to be the best version of ourselves , to take who we are and who we be and who we show up in the world as to that next level . So I really hope that you enjoy these Monday Mindsets and , if you do , let us know over on our Instagram at Evie Academics .
Thanks so much for listening and let's dive into our Monday Mindset . So I find it kind of ironic that today's Monday Mindset is titled Read More .
When I'm speaking to a group of middle school English teachers , of course you guys read and more than likely you are reading a lot of books , that your students are reading a lot of fiction books and I wanted to share this podcast episode because there's something remarkable that's been happening in my life recently that has really started to shift perspectives , to
change myself more , to allow me to be more of the person that I envision in my mind , that I want to be , that sometimes it's hard to show up as and be , and that is simply by reading more books that align to as silly as it sounds personal growth and happiness .
And one of the books that I've been reading recently is called is by Alan Stein Jr , and it's called Sustain , your Game Granted . You know I'm a big athlete , basketball player . I will always relate everything to sports , so if you're not a sports person , I still think that this book is really interesting .
And he talks a lot about avoiding burnout and to live a life of happiness and how to move yourself to the next version of who you are . And it's so interesting how often , as teachers , we find ourselves in this comfortability that over time , can start to become a little bit mundane .
We teach the same book again , we're doing the same short story again , or it's that same time of year , right , and we're not necessarily like switching things up , which is , of course , what we want to do to make our lives easier . But I think sometimes , when we get stuck in that rut , we don't really know what else to do .
And this book really talks a lot about that , and I just thought it was so interesting to be opening and expanding more through reading a different type of book than you might perhaps be used to .
And if you are the type of person who is constantly listening to or reading fiction I say listening to because I listen to audiobooks I have a hard time processing reading books , and I say that because , if I have a hard time processing reading books , and I say that because if you are reading a lot of fiction books , I would invite you to consider expanding
and broadening your horizons to reading books about happiness , reading books about avoiding burnout , reading books about elevating ourselves outside of our comfort levels to the next version of who we are , because I think when we get stuck and we feel kind of like this is just mundane .
It's the monotonous , it's the day-to-day grind and we're not necessarily growing or pushing ourselves beyond that comfortability , that comfort zone that we sit in . I think that's when we get really kind of stagnant and just like blah with life , when we're not pushing to the next level .
So I would invite you to really consider reading more books in that sort of genre , and I'm going to share some of my favorites that I've been reading recently in the show notes section of the podcast so you can check them out .
But the first place that I would start for you as yourself , if you want to feel inspired , if you want to feel someone like boom , taking you to the next level what are you actually capable of in every capacity of your life as a human , like why not reach your fullest potential and see what you actually can do ? Right ?
I would highly recommend reading this book by Allen Stein called Sustain your Game . I am loving listening to it and , with that being said , I see the irony of telling middle school English teachers to read more .
And I hope that you will consider this call to action , this call to inspiration , this call to something perhaps a little bit different than you're used to , and , if you do find a book that you love around this type of genre , this type of beingness please share it with me on Instagram at ebacademics .
I would love to know , and if you do , in fact , grab , sustain your Game by Alan Stein , please let me know what you think of it . I would love to get feedback from you . All right ?
