Episode description
On Wednesday, the United States Court of International Trade (CIT) blocked President Donald Trump’s global tariffs from enforcement, ruling that the president lacked the authority to impose the duties unilaterally. However, the Trump administration appealed the decision to a federal appeals court, and on Thursday that court paused the CIT decision while it considers its ruling. The CIT’s summary judgment was issued on two separate cases and is the first major legal challenge to President Trump’s tariffs, which he announced on April 2.
