Peter: Welcome back to our podcast for pool professionals. Today, we're going to talk about the end of the pool season in Australia and New Zealand. Shane, what should pool owners do to prepare for the off-season?

Shane: Well, Peter, the first thing pool owners should do is clean their pool thoroughly. This includes brushing the walls, vacuuming the floor, and skimming the surface to remove any debris.

Peter: That's a good point, Shane. And what about chemicals? Should they add any special chemicals before closing the pool for the off-season?

Shane: Yes, they should. Pool owners should add winterizing chemicals, such as algaecide and chlorine stabilizer, to keep the water clean and clear during the off-season. They should also adjust the pH level to between 7.2 and 7.6.

Peter: And what about the pool equipment? Should pool owners do anything special to protect it during the off-season?

Shane: Yes, they should. They should turn off the pump and filter, drain the water from the pump and filter, and remove any drain plugs to allow any remaining water to drain out. They should also store any removable equipment, such as ladders and diving boards, in a dry place.

Peter: And what should pool owners do with their pool covers during the off-season?

Shane: They should clean and dry the cover before storing it. They should also store it in a dry, cool place to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Peter: Well, there you have it, folks. If you're a pool owner in Australia or New Zealand, be sure to clean your pool thoroughly, add winterizing chemicals, and protect your pool equipment and cover during the off-season. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time.
