Episode description

This week I welcome Naturopathic Doctor and SIBO specialist Nirala Jacobi to the show. Dr Jacobi is considered one of Australia’s leading experts in the treatment of small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and frequently lectures nationally and internationally on the topic. She has 20-years clinical experience as a Naturopathic Doctor and specialises in functional digestive disorders. In America, Naturopathic Physicians (NDs) are general health care practitioners. In addition to conventional medical training, NDs receive extensive training in the art of natural medicine. It’s estimated that 40 - 60% of IBS cases are actually caused by SIBO. So, this episode is highly relevant to anyone with symptoms of or a diagnosis of IBS as well as anyone with other signs of SIBO including nutrient deficiency, skin conditions like acne rosacea, FODMAP intolerance, “leaky gut”, restless leg syndrome, interstitial cystitis and even autoimmune conditions like Hashimotos. In this interview we cover what SIBO is, what exposes someone to risk of SIBO, the signs and symptoms of SIBO and the key features of successful SIBO treatment. I hope you enjoy hearing from expert Nirala Jacobi.
