Homer Hickam, author of 12 books, all best-sellers, including the acclaimed memoir Rocket Boys which was made into the movie October Sky. His experiments with rockets in high school helped launch both his NASA career and US lunar exploration. Homer is a decorated combat officer. He has been an engineer, a scuba instructor and expert wreck diver. He trained astronauts and designed spacecraft for NASA. He is an amateur paleontologist who has discovered two Tyrannosaurus Rexes.
