Episode description

Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) is a diagnosis that very much resembles coronary artery disease, except the pain occurs in the legs instead of the chest. Treating these patients can be tricky due to the activity limitations they experience.  So how can we make a difference in clinic?

In this episode, Dr.Burriesci breaks down what PAD is. She explains the risk factors, pathophysiology and how physical therapists can best treat this disease. Traditionally, “no pain, no gain” are words that you will never here out of a PTs mouth, but what if this time is different? She explains the why behind the treatment interventions and the potential results our patients will experience.

In This Episode:

  • Break down the pathophysiology of PAD
  • Risk factors of PAD
  • Diagnostic Testing
  • Education
  • Treatment interventions for this patient population
  • Progression of disease
  • Prevention of progression
