Jon Patch welcomes Jay Hemdal, author of the book Bugs as Pets (Animal Planet Pet Care Library). This book features most of the common insects, spiders, and other arthropods of North America, plus exotic species that are available at pet shops. It includes discussions of mantises, caterpillars, tarantulas, millipedes, hissing roaches, and much more--covering more than 50 species in total.

Jay is the curator of fishes and invertebrates for a large zoo / aquarium. This aquarium exhibits over 3,200 animals comprising over 315 different species including; flashlight fish, giant spider crabs, giant octopus, moon jellies, coral exhibits, exotic insects, as well as many other, more commonly seen species.
