The following He's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This He's Talking Cowboys, screaming live from the Dallas Cowboys World hours at the Star in Frisco. Elliot flowing to the say and now your hosts, Isaiah stand Back, Patrick Walker and Kyle Yeomans. It is a Thursday It issued of Talking Cowboys, presented by Black Rifle Coffee Company. Here from the Star in Frisco in the SWBC studios. We are here as we
preview the Cowboys offense versus that Detroit Lions defense. Continuing to flip the page into Week seven of the NFL season with Chris Beam in the back, Patrick no C Walker, Isaiah stand back. I'm Kyle Yeoman. Since the first day a r of Talking Cowboys. After after Rob p Island, M yeah, Michie already, guy, Yeah, we do. We know you're watching. Your seat is warm though, yeah, yeah, he kept it warm. He kept it warm. Now do you feel like do you feel any different than you've scooted
a chair with smarter? Why is that? I definitely smell I don't know, drop, you just feel smarter? People actually see my face now for those that watch, Yeah, you guys got tired of seeing my back with the heck man, it was all the dreads les. I mean, I do got to do some backwork. I gotta feel these shirts out. Man. How was baggy dress shirts? I don't think I would ever say it's such a thing. How is Squattober going?
Squattober is going well. I actually had to take a day off because I have I'm actually proud of myself because I have back issues after football. I have two baden disk in my back. So for the longest I stayed away from squats. So I've worked my way into Squattober and I'm gradually raising my my my weight up and adjust my percentages. So I took yesterday off because I had a heavy day on Tuesday. But uh, I'm ready to get back at it today. Okay, it's lity lit.
What do you been? I mean, what do you what do you squat? What's your max? Right? In max? And if I had to guess, probably four hundred were a lot less than a lot of these players nowadays. It's so you think about I mean you think about the I mean, who do we just face? Last week? Jalen hurts six hundred, So four hundred pounds for him is like his warm up weight, you know. So I mean you got specimens in the league like that, now that just play around with the weight that I would strain
and probably I'm not gonna say that. Yeah, you've got specimens of Patrick and who I mean, what do we squat like fifty? I haven't squatted since college, so I couldn't tell. Yeah, it's fair. I haven't maxed out since probably I still got my trek legs though, so juice, Yeah, yeah, I wonder. So I think this weekend I'll get to go. I'm gonna have to borrow somebody. Oh god, a wheelchair
whenever he gets in here to borrow somebody's built. But no belt, No belts allowed, sir, No, you want me to Wearing a belt is like wearing gloves in the weight room. Gonna need the belt, I'm telling you. For the first one back in two decades. I can't get an activate the core. I could just imagine like a cartoon character. He got like a cartoon character and it just snaps. So that's what's gonna happen. So good, all right, So normally we do news and notes with Rob Phillips.
But like we said, we miss our guy Rob. We know he's watching. He did promises yesterday that he's gonna watch every show, so we will refer to him as Rob the listener from here on out. He could always call in and WASNA nine seven right like you'd be like be from Ohio. Uh. And for those of you wondering, we're rolling with these three right now. I mean, we don't have any plans to replace anybody. I know. I a couple of tweets yesterday about it whenever the Rob
news broke. But we're rolling with us three at the moment. This is your talking Cowboys crew for now. We may add a fourth down the line. I would say there's a good chance we would add a fourth down the line. But right now it is Patrick, it is Isaiah as myself. We're gonna ride with it. So Kyle's taking application is just DM Yeah, yeah, an application, Chris Beam, don't don't she's already applied. Actually, see you would like you to
d M him as well. Let's fill those up. There's a reason your dms aren't open all the time, right, are they open? Are you looking at me? Yeah, yes, we're looking at you. They're closed at the moment. Yeah, at the moment. They closed at the all right, but yeah, well we're gonna roll with this three and Chris in the back, and then we'll probably add a fourth here at some point down the line. Now, Patrick, I gotta shift the news and notes column to you. So what's
your first news and notes? The Cowboys back on the field yesterday they had a special guest out there too. They did so first of all, WWRD. But would Rob do okay, Rob, I believe would note that post Malone was in fact in the building on yesterday. He was, you know, sideline looking at Dak Prescott's throwing session, I believe. So,
you know, post Malone obviously a massive Cowboys fan. He has family ties here as well, and also a huge friend of Dak Prescott, so I'm sure he wanted to, you know, get an eye or two on QB one. But Dak Prescott, for the first time since suffering the fractured thumb in Week one, was a full participant on
the injury report for the Cowboys. Now keep in mind that was more of a mock game kind of a jog through the first actual practice for this week, which will also be the largest, biggest practice for this week is going to be today, so today is really going to be key. But he has been medically cleared per head coach Mike McCarthy, so that is massive. Everything is green lighted as far as him going on Sunday as long as there are no setbacks between now and Sunday
facing the Detroit Lions. So huge news there. Dak Prescott is still on track to be the starter against the Detroit Lions. Also from the injury report, Dalton Schultz was a full participant after missing last week with the reaggravated PCL sprain that cost him two of the last three outings. We'll see what today looks like, because again yesterday was more of a mock game. Today is going to be a full workload. We'll see if he's going to be
listed as full again or possibly limited. Ceedee Lamb was limited, but no concern there. Lamb was you know, he looked great physically against the Philadelphia Eagles, so this is probably more precautionary than anything. Quentin Bohannah, who's been battering a battered lean i'm sorry, battling a shoulder injury. It was a full participant as well, so overall as it stands, pretty Yeah, how Boys injury report looks fantastic at the moment, help is on the way and ahead of the bye week,
no list that's physically unheard of? Is that A Well, yeah, you got a couple of weeks to the bye week, so I know that's I'm still yeah, let's knock right on that wood, all right. But I think whenever you look at Wednesday's participation, how much is it because of or influence because of a walkthrough? Are you more likely to be a full participant in a walkthrough than you are a full practice because today we'll find out more about whatever the injury situation looks like on the team.
I would say probably so. But then you look at the situation with Ceedee Lamb. He was listed as limited on yesterday, So to that point, why we Lamb have not been listed as full as well? So I think that there's some credence to that. But at the same time, there is something notable to be said in Dak Prescott being listed as full as opposed to being listed as limited. I mean, it's basically the Cowboys saying, hey, we're aiming him right at the Detroit Lions. So Yeah, there's a
lot to take away or positively from a Dallas standpoint. Yeah, I don't think there's any question at this point whether Deck's playing or not. It's to your point. If he has a flare up, then obviously that would set them back. But all all signs point to him being the starter in this week's game, and it's a great week to do so because his defense is trash compost. You want to go into it. Yeah, they're not even composted there,
trash compost. You can take a little bit more quality, you know, you gotta you gotta put it in there, roll it around, you guys, pure trash. Bottom of the league, so worse than Washington because you call Washington compost exactly Washington. They're calling these guys, yep, trash and Washington manners have allowed one hundred and thirty five points this year. The Detroit Lions are sitting at the bottom of the league with one hundred and seventy points given up, averaging thirty
four points per game given up. This year, they've given up thirty four points per game. That's on average. That's a septic tank. That's that's yeah, we're at the septic Yeah, like but like once a week, change it out, like you know what I mean. Like there's just like not even over the weekend, like not even a couple's not dropping off on Friday, pick it up on Saturday. Sprinkles. Yeah, this is straight just yeah marinating it gets sprinkle some ridings. Yeah,
they're trashed. They're trying hard, though, Kyle, they try hard. That's good. I mean, Dan Campbell team, you're gonna have high effort and valiant effort. You know, good job, guys. They're running around, but this is not a good defense man. And this is this is this is why Dak's coming back this week. This is redemption week for Dack and Kellen Moorey can't wait to throw the ball seven hundred
and twenty two times this game. So, by the way, PFF's always right whenever it agrees with you, right, I mean, it agrees with Isaiah. They are tied for the bottom defensive grade in the league with the Arizona Cardinals, and they have a fifty. They're getting a fifty out of a hundred. That's their grade so far. The top team is an eighty five, and that's the Denver Broncos. By the way, the Cowboys, just for reference, are in eighth
place in that grading. So but most most other teams have played played six games, Kyle, Yeah, most, I think. I don't think other people understand it. Most other teams have played six games. There's a handful of teams that have had some buys, but they are at the bottom of the league with one hundred and seventy points giving up through five games. Yeah, they've already had their bye week, coming off of their bye week trash and we talked about in news and notes. We talked about the Cowboys
getting healthier. The Detroit Lions are not getting healthier. Look at some of these defensive players that were DNP and they did not have a walk through yesterday. They had an actual practice coming off of their bye. You got Chris Board d MP, linebiker. You got who else? John Kaminski, he was limited. You got off try off of a bye, Charles Harrott, a little bank pass rusher dealing with a growing injury dnpafon DMP, Bobby Price, DMP. I mean like ten days off, Yeah, ten days off and those guys
are still not healed. Yeah, they're banged up and they haven't played well. But they've got pieces on that defense. I'm not saying that they're the same defense that you saw last week against Philadelphia, but they've invested picks up front. I mean, Aidan Hutchinson was the number two overall pick this past day, Browl. He's been playing, he's been decent.
He's still learning. He's not gonna have the same kind of impact that you would see from a Michael Parsons this year as a rookie, but he's been playing decent. And you've got Jeff Acuta on the outside, who was supposed to have a rebound year and that hasn't necessarily happened. Number three overall pick from twenty twenty, so this is his third year in the league. You would think your Kuda would already be stepping up. He hasn't looked like that.
I said this past offseason, I think the ship has sailed, at least sailed on a Kuda's stock in Detroit. Now, it could be a situation where the young man maybe needs a fresh start somewhere else, and I'm sure he'll be getting that sooner than later. But as you said, Kyle, it was supposed to be a twenty twenty two season that potentially saw him start to really realize his potential and step into that that big ticket role. But it's
it's just not happen. And obviously, when you're talking about the Lion's defense, first and foremost, you have to go right to Aidan Hutchinson. But then once you didgate, if you're able to negate Adan Hutchinson, there's not a lot of support outside of or four eight Hutchinson being on the defensive line, the linebacker court, or the secondary. He's kind of on an island there. So if Hutchinson isn't able to get consistent pressure and disrupt the offense, the
lines are just they're just out there. I like enz alone, that's fair. I like him. He saw he reminds me of He reminds me of like an AJ Hawk type of guy, you know what I mean, just like no, no, no, no no, no, no, it's not it's it's just relentless effort. It's just really I mean, he's not as dominant he
got right, but he has a motor. His motor doesn't stop fighting front the time that the whistle starts to to the end of the game, that dude, or you're gonna have to deal with him giving you one hundred percent of what he has. That's not the case with everybody. Let's just be real out there, and people play majority of the game at about seventy five and then they leave a little bit in the tank when they need to when they need to go one hundred. That's the
reality of NFL. Sorry people, if you thought it was one hundred percent every play, it's not okay. But guys like him come along every so often and they are just empty in the tank every single play. Well, Xavier Woods told them that that wasn't the truth. And Xavier Woods in the middle of that we read the room kind of thing. But I mean, that's a name. There's a another notable and Deshaun Elliott. He's another notable guy you talk about somebody like who. He's tied actually with
him for the most tackles on the Detroit Lions. They have forty combined a piece, and Elliott has the as one of the only two interceptions for the Detroit Lion secondary and that kind of seguays to one of the biggest problems for Detroit is they also can't get the ball turned over. They only have two interceptions through five games. They only have two forced fumbles and only recovered one
of those forced fumbles. I guess, okay, fifty percent success right on the forced fumbles, but you only got two. So they're not punching the ball away. They're not taking the ball away in the air, they're not getting consistent pressure outside of Adan Hutchinson. Why drop it? Because they're velcrow? Okay, talk to their veil crow? Was what what was bill? Crowd? To Cotton falls off the freaking no, it sticks on, freaking God, Kyle, Okay, they're very crow. They're defensive lineman there,
they're linebackers. I don't know how apparently all right? They you never I was thinking like the one. I was thinking of the one that like stuck each other. Of what happened? Sticks it sticks to Cott? I thought he was talking about, like you put it on something that just falls off. These guys are like these guys are like flex sial in the corner of your top. All right, These guys they do not get off blocks for anything. They they're aggressive because of who their coach is. So
they play with high with high motors. Yeah, okay, but those high motors run smack into offensive alignment and they once they get on, they do not get off at all. These guys lock on, they run them back, you know, two three yards off the line of scrimmage they're able to get they get turned and they don't get to their to their assignments, and they ultimately give up a lot of big play Sometimes it it could sound like that could be a good thing for a defense, but
can you explain why that's not a good thing. It's a good thing to have a high motor. It's a good thing to put out, you know, a max effort and to go all out. However, if what you if that effort is taking you out of your assignment, if that effort isn't allowing for you to get off of your block so that you can do what you need to do in your particular role in the defense, then
you're now out of position. And if you're out of position and everybody else that's next to you is out of position, obviously bad things are going to happen if you're the Detroit Lions. And that's unfortunately what they're facing. And I think they have an identity crisis right now. I think they're trying to appease who their coach is and what their coaches character is and what he wants to character of this team to be, not even just
his defense, but this entire team. But they're doing so at their own demise, right and you know, kind of circling back. And those are excellent points. And adding to that is the fact that their coverage windows and their secondary are massive because outside of Hutchinson, they can't consistently get pressure. I mentioned the moment ago that Charles Harris would still d andp he missed their previous game before
the bye week. With this growing injury, he's one of the only three or four guys who has a sack on a defense that only has seven sacks through five games. They can't get home, they can't consistently get pressure. And that's going to allow that the Cowboys second or passing attack,
which now features again Dak Prescott. It's really going to give them an opportunity, Dak Prescott to go through his reads, go through his progression and say, hey, okay, well a Coula might have this might have won this particular battle, but guesshood, I got two other three other guys I can go to, and I got time to do it. So the Detroit Lions are going to be really up against it. Even though we don't completely expect that Dak Prescott's going to hit the ground running. I mean, don't
be surprised if he does against this defense. Here he's hitting, He's hitting the treadmill at while one miles power. His footing is not gonna have any problems. This is not the Philadelphia's Eagles where you got these guys. The treadmill's going twenty miles power. You gotta catch the riff. This dude's gonna go on that thing, just be stroller striding like he's at the dog on the mall at six am. I was thinking about it last night more and more,
and I was like, you know what we there. There's a lot to be said for the likelihood that Dek Prescott still needs to get his timing back. Mike McCarthy keeps talking about it, you know, and now it's a new look wide receiver Corps. Obviously he has some history with Noah Brown, but not to the point he had with Cedric Wilson. So some things need to be worked out there. But you couldn't be you couldn't go against a better defense as far as the matchup school if
you're trying to get your offense back on track. So just yeah, it temper your expectations for Deak Prescott's return to action. But if that goes out, I just wouldn't be surprised if that goes out there and throws three touchdowns one to three different receivers against this defense. And that's exactly what the Cowboys hope will happen, so that he can build on that time and that confidence going into the Bears game and then the bye week and
so forth and so on. That's the blueprint hopefully. Yo, you said that word. I was already about the tease going into the break. Why is this note? I want to know why this is different than the Broncos last season, because that game was the blueprint for the Cowboys. I want to mention it a little bit more because the more I look into it, the more this game reminds me of that game because we're talking about it the same way we talked about that game too last year.
When we come back here on talking Cowboys, I want to talk about how to avoid the blueprint on the other side from Detroit when we come back right after this. When you build, you start with the foundation and homeownership is a foundation of a stable future. Isaiah Standbackpatrick nose Walker, I'm Kyle Yeoman's glad you're with us, oh Man, I just keep going
back to this game from last year? Why and Patrick? And the break was like, why are you bringing up old stuff? Going to post? Why do you bring it up? Because because I don't want history to repeat itself. That's why. Okay, that's why. Because those knowledge history. If you don't want history to repeat itself, correct, those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it, right. I mean that's why I'm bringing it up. I'm not bringing it up for
an emotional attachment. I'm not bringing it up because I think it's going to happen. I want it to not happen because last year you overestimated or underestimated excuse me, the Denver Broncos coming off of a Sunday night football game. You won that game. So it's a little bit different and kind of like what we talked about yesterday with Mike McCarthy, he was asked if this was a trap game. This is not a trap game in his eyes, which is fine. I'm okay with that because it's a real
game in his eyes. How is this different, Isaiah? This year with the Detroit Lions, young pieces on defense, a lot of no name guys running around there in the back level as well, and some firepower on offense to the pact where they come into AT and T Stadium. Cowboys always got a target on their back no matter what. How can Dallas avoid the repeat of twenty twenty one Denver? I can't say without a shadow of a doubt that
they can avoid it, but it's not as probable. You think about the defensive coordinator for Denver last year, it was Fio. Well, Fangio was a head coach. Oh yeah, yeah, he ran a defense, so he has a lot of wisdom in that regard. He's been he's a proven defensive coordinator and he picked apart the offensive Dallas. All right. He took advantage of Kelly Moore Aaron Glenn as a
defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. I love ag. Ag was my teammate when I first got here, have a high regard for him as a player, but I haven't seen it as a defensive coordinator yet, so I don't think that they have the personnel that Denver had. I also don't think that they have the wisdom from the
person who's calling the plays yet. And I think that combination favors the Dallas Cowboys and highly makes it highly likely that they are not going to repeat or highly unlike that they're going to repeat what they're what they did last year. You just think from a scheme standpoint,
Glenn doesn't have the same firepower. And I mean they've got the Denver's defense last year was more talented than this Lions defense straight up on paper, person because they had Justin Simmons, they had Patrick's Ertan and guys like that. But you've got young pieces here too. But you think
it's the scheme that's different. Yeah, because you had the scheme up to beat the Cowboys offense a year ago, but the offense isn't as good this year though, correct, And I'm into yes, you're absolutely correct, So I stand behind those those comments. However, I did mention yesterday, I believe or to day before that this is the most prepared that the Detroit Lions will be for an opponent aside from Game one of the season, because I've got
two two weeks to prepare. So even though AG, you know, Aaron Glen, that's what we would call him, AG does not have the wisdom of a fangio this, he does have time on his side to go ahead. And if there are any kind of weaknesses or any kind of tendencies that they can find on film from Kelly Moore in Dallas Cowboys offense, they would have found them by now.
The disadvantage to them is that you're getting a dack that you haven't seen a lot of this year, and you can go back to recent years, you can go back to whatever you want to and look at what was right, But in terms of this season, they only have one game to go back and watch. For me, it's it's just different emotionally more than anything. Uh, it's a Cowboys team that's not only is it you know, going to be charged up because it's getting QB one bag,
which was not the case last year. They're they're coming off of a lost versus as you mentioned, they were coming off of a win in Minnesota. Yeah, against the Minnesota Vikings. But even more so than that, going into the Broncos game last year they were won a six game winning streak and that included and a thrilling overtime victory against New England. And New England. You're super charged, though. You then go to Minnesota, you beat Minnesota. Oh we
got it. Here comes feeling themselves. Yeah yeah, here comes the Broncos and it's like, okay, well we'll just blow past these guys. Oh hold on, now that's right. What happened? All right, let's ride right. So you had that, but if you compare it to now you went into Philly and you didn't just lose the Philly you basically gave
them the game. So walking through the locker room yesterday talking to guys like Jay Ron Curse for example, talking to guys like George Lewis, like, these guys are pissed, like that, Lay Vanderess, that's not having it exactly, Lady Vanderess.
Another one, Anthony Barr, these guys are pissed. When Dan Quinn said it a couple of days ago, it was validated when I walked through the locker room yesterday and I'm talking to guys like jay Ken, you talked to lv and and you know and the other defensive guys. They want to get back on this field asap, pronto. They're not looking at the Lions and saying okay, well you know they're no, they're looking at it as this is the next op and we got to run through
them because we're pissed off about the last game. So that's that's, you know, a couple of key variables. But also keep in mind you mentioned Fangio's defense. Fangio was not good at offense, but the Broncos defense in twenty twenty one was quite a bit better than this Lions defense. Yes, they both still had some young pieces, and that's that's really where the comparison halts. Yeah, because the scheme was better in the Broncos than it is with the Detroit Lions.
Between Fangil versus Aaron Glenn and look at the health of the Lions are like the Rove come into this game, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. You look at the inability to take the ball away, the inability to consistently get pressures. It's only the same in that in my eyes, and that the Cowboys are coming off
of a Sunday night game. That's the only thing that's really similar, coming off of a Sunday night game, going against what supposedly is a team that's not going to be a good team because they're not a good team. You are what your record says you are. Shouts out to Tuna. But at the end of the day, emotionally it's different. This is not a six game win streak. This is four and two. You just lost to your division rival in primetime in Philadelphia. You have a huge
distaste in your mouth. It's just sour on your tongue. Right now, you're going you're back home. You're going against the team that's thirty second in the league. And if there was a thirty third, they'd be thirty third in the league. I mean, to your point, it's it's septic tank, right, So that those are the differences for me. I think this is a Cowboys team that's just mentally they're laser focused. They're not right high on a six game win streat.
They know that if they dropped the four and three, albeit it won't, it would be the end of the world. Dropped the four and three against the Detroit LANs team at home and it's going to feel real bad. And now you're going to drop that much further in the
NFC East race. Yeah, there's something to play for here when there is a battle like this happening in the division, when you do have not just one team you're going up against with Philadelphia, but you've got this surprise team in New York that's playing really well and it's five and one at the moment. How many times does how does that play into your preparation and your energy and emotion throughout a week whenever there are a couple of teams that you're trying to compe again, there's no room
for error. You can't afford to drop one, you know, to the point that you just made and see, you can't afford to drop one. And if you do drop one, you're putting yourself in a pretty dicament and you can't be end up pretty decaments. And it's in his covers right now because these teams are playing well, and you know that those two teams that are playing well that you are your opponents in this division are going to continue to improve. You know who Philadelphia has coming up?
Their schedule is just about as easy as the Dallas Cowboys is in terms of on paper, so they foresight, they're probably not going to drop too many games over the next five or six games. Then you look at the New York Giants and they're going to continue to get better, to have a brand new coach who is only going to improve as the season goes on. He's going to continue to put powerma more onto their offense, and that and Danny Dimes and those guys gonna continue
to get more COFID. They're gonna score more points, so they're gonna get more dangerous. So you can't afford to put yourself against the wall. You've had enough against your enough of having your back against the wall this year. Already, you drop week one, you lost your qby you picked it up, you pasted it together. You know what I'm
saying you. You went ahead and you got your Elmer's glue when you you put all those pieces together, and now you're sitting back and you're looking at you like, Okay, what what can I do with this? And he's like, oh crap, I didn't see these pieces over here, and that's Dak's coming back. So now you get to put all your pieces together, and now you get to go out there and play the best ball that you can possibly play. And there's an added aspect to it because
we're talking about the NFC. In the race in the NFC, in the NFC East, you're hoping to split with the Philadelphia Eagles, and if it comes out that you need a tiebreaker at the end of the at the end of the season the Detroit Lions. Guess what, that's a that's a like opponent that you know, that's a common opponent, right, common opponent goes into that as well as far as potential tiebreakers. So you need this when the Cowboys know they need this winning again, they're not righting high off
of any kind of wind streak right now. They're they're kind of feeling that sting from Sunday when you walk into the locker room. You said that you felt them being pissed off. Now you felt them being a little bit angry. Yeah, what were they angry about? Were they angry that they lost? Were they angry about how they lost? Were they angry that they didn't do their best? Like? What were they angry about? It? Give us the third one.
I think it was a combination combination because lay and Vander esch May very clear that he felt that they could do better. He kept saying, obviously we have things we can clean up. You see it, you saw what it was. And I think he was referencing like the mistackles and things like that. Actually, so there was an accountability there was. That's what it felt like, a ton of accountability speaking kind of off the cove with jay Ron Curse and basically Jarron Curse was saying, hey, we
gave them that and that can't happen. But and he kept saying, they got to come to the crib in the same so they're anxious to correct the errors. They're not saying, yeah, they're not saying we're upset because we went up there and they beat us. They're saying that we're upset because we went up there and we lost. And I love to hear that, Yeah, I love to hear that, because, well, we've been hearing a lot of fans this week. Right, We've seen it in the past.
We've seen it in past years where there was a lack of accountability. Right, we heard the wee movement and all that jazz, and you know there's guys, there were guys that didn't want to admit that they took the ail whatnot the wee wee the pause pause, Yeah, he swiping, no swiping. But there was a lack of accountability here for a while and dan Quinn has obviously changed that culture.
That's one of the main things that he's done. So it's great to hear that guys are in the locker room after a loss and they're saying, yeah, we messed up, Yeah we gave this, Yeah we did this, because guess what, who's in control of that them. It's a lot different when you hear that type of talk versus oh, you know the referees. We heard that how many years or two years ago? Right, Oh, it was the referees. You know the referees when we're playing against all these guys.
There's a little bit of that at the beginning of last year game, there's a little bit of and they guess what, that's just that's kind of trickled away. So it's it is very encouraging to hear that these guys are taking up for their mess ups because they are correctable in it's heapaning, they're absolutely taking accountability. And from my ears from walking around and being in the scrums and talking to the guys. There was not a single
question about officiating that was posed or answered. These guys are looking inward good going into the Detroit Lions game. The only time I've heard about the officiating from the Philly game was it Mike McCarthy's Monday, And basically they asked They asked about the pick play where Tavante Smith was kind of coming over and he ran a quote unquote rud route, but it was a pick and it allowed A J. Brown to score on the touchdown. And he was like, I mean, he was visibly upset by that.
And he was like, well, you got to check the rule book because a lineman or five down the five yards downfield, they're blocking downfield. Oh, and there was a pick play and all this sorts of stuff. So he kind of made some excuses on Monday, But no player in that locker room has made a single excuse. That's the correct thing to think. I don't want to hear any of that. All right, let's take our second break. When we come back, we'll continue to look deeper into
the Cowboys offense. Could they maybe utilize Ceedee Lamb and Kavante Turpin in a different way This week now that Dak Prescott is back in the fold, when we come back with more talking Cowboys present presented by Black Rifle Coffee Company, Todd thought it would be secure to jog and the cheetahs. There's a good chance that towards the back half of the season you're gonna see not one, not two, but possibly three pregame, live and postgame shows from out there on the plaza at at and T Stag Just not one, not two. Nope, I'll be happy there it was, it was. I'll be happy if there's one. There's one, you know, but there is going to be at least one. No, there's one at least out there. And then I'm sure we'll probably try and push for the playoff game too
if we get to that point. If we get to the playoffs, if we get to that point, you have to play. And I mean you got a plan. Third place in the division, Yeah, you got a little bit of work to do. Got a little bit of work today. Work. They'll get there though, you think, So? Okay, I like it. Tiger milk, tiger milk. I'm wearing my shirt tomorrow. By the way, Rob do, what would Rob? He drank tiger milk? Yes,
he would all day long. He already texted us, and I was watching all right, So I got this question on Twitter. Uh, Robert asked us on Twitter. He said, please ask Isaiah, ask the man. Why does the Cowboys offense not use crossing routes with our receivers and let them get the yards after the catch? I think Turpin and Lamb could excel at this. You know what, You're not wrong, sir, and you will see that most likely beginning this week, simply because of what the Detroit Lion want.
Let me back up. Number one. You haven't used three receivers that much this year because you've been trying to protect Cooper Rush, so you haven't seen many crossing routes because you just can't run crossing routes with two man concepts up. So you'll start seeing that again this week off of the play action. If they can establish a running game and gets Detroit, which I don't see that being a problem, You're gonna get the Dallas Cowboys getting
back to play action. You're gonna see the Dallas Cowboys getting back to crossing routes because these guys like to play man to man for whatever reason, and they're not very good at it. And you'll start seeing Norah Brown. You'll start seeing gallup get to get some of these crossing routes CD man, they will try to get CD down. They'll use Gallop down the field CD, Nora Brown crossing, and you'll start seeing somebody's pick plays that of Coach
McCarthy didn't like last week. You'll start seeing Dallas use that to their advantage. Agreed. I mean it's while they didn't shrink the playbook for Cooper Rush, they also didn't explore as deeply into the playbook as as they will with Dak Prescott in the lineup. So hopefully they stick with the runn attack and continue to lean on that. But my point being, when it comes time to pass, some of those passing concepts that weren't accessible for Cooper
Rush will be reaccessible for qu One. It's like it's like a book, man. If I'm reading the book and I have a bookmark in there right now you're like, oh, I want to see where you are you reading. I take the bookmark out as give it to You're gonna start back at play one. You know, you're gonna start back at page one. So that's where they did with with Cooper Rush. They went back to page one, and now they're gonna go back and Dak had he had a little elephant here once. Yeah he had. Yeah, he
had a little elephant here and there. You didn't see it. Now he's gonna open a book back up to the middle and he's like, oh, okay, this work picking back up at this Yeah, so it opens it up a significant amount more. But you look at you look at just the pure arm talent from Dak Prescott and how it differs from Cooper Rush. And we talked about it previously.
He could do so many different things. And yes, he opens up the playbook from a play calling standpoint, but he also does it from an opportunity to throw the football down the field standpoint. So does the deep threat kind of help open up the underneath? The underneath stuff like Ceedee Lamb and Kavante Turpin and even Michael Gallup that they wanted to use him underneath. Does the pure threat of Dak Prescott throwing down in the field is that going to open things up in the medal? It can,
but I don't think that's what teams fear. Ok. I think teams fear the run, and I think they fear the play action. If you can stop Dallas's run, you negate what they do because now, all of a sudden, history says, if you can stop the run and stop Zeke, stop TP, now all of a sudden days, yeah, you stop the Cowboys and Dak has a throw for forty
plus times a game. That's what history says, and that's what teams would rather have, especially when him coming off of a thumb injury, right, I think yes and no. Yes. Theoretically speaking, the more teams have to play on their heels in the secondary and the second the second level of linebacker and even at the defensive line front, the more likely you're going to have the second level open up for those slants that you'd be looking forward for
Ceedee Lamming and Kavante Turpin. And I think that for the Dallas Cowboys. You HARKing back to Week one, which was to me, the worst outing of Dak Prescott's career. I don't see that happening again. He didn't have Michael Gallup to help stretch the field, so he didn't have a Marta Cooper and didn't have Michael Gallup. He really only had one of his former thousand yard receivers and he had Noah Brown. Things still need to be figured
out going against the Detroit Lions and moving forward. He does have that deep physical threat in Michael Gallup who can't take the top off of an imposing defense. So the Lions are going to have to respect that because Michael Gallup is in fact on the field, So that is in fact going to help the underneath the routes.
That's going to help the run game. And but then, like Isaiah saying, one thing plays off of the other, you're going to have to make sure you're establishing the run game so that they can then continue to fear that and that's going to bring them forward. So then you throw it over their head, be a complete or incomplete, so then they start to play backward and then you get to run again. So it's kind of that yo
yo effect. So do you think the Cowboys offense gets back on track this week, Yes, you think they do. See what would what would be getting back would you want me to say, yeah, see week yah? What what would getting back on track constitute? Like? What would that look like? For me? That will look like three offensive touchdowns if you can get uh, you know, twenty one points from your offense, you're back on track now if you get And how how different is that bar just
a year ago. You have to adjust with the times and when you're right. I agree, but just that's just a crazy thing to think about. But if they can get three offensive touchdowns against the Detroit lines are just period. If they can get three offensive touchdowns one Sunday, um, and the biggest error is maybe one interception, you clean up the rest of the mistakes, no pre snap penalties, then for me, the offense will not necessarily be back on track, um, but it will no longer be derailed, right,
so it'll be close. It will start to approach the right destination and then they can kind of build steam from there, hoping, you know, going forward into the bye week. What would it look like for you? I was like three hundred fifty yards of offense, Okay, I mean, I mean you have to take it into content. You're playing against the worst defense in the league, So I gotta put up numbers. You gotta put up the number four hundred. I wanted to say four hundred eight. I want to
say Friday. Friday, I gave a little moorrow tomorrow. You're a little buffer there, Okay, I went. I was in my head. I was about to come out say hundred times. You know what I'm saying. But I got to pull it back a little bit and pull it back. Yeah, so three fifty, I take three three, give me two fifty out of dag. I need one hundred underground. But in reality, I wanted about one twenty five on the ground and I need another you know, two sat in
five or so in the air. I like it. Gosh, that's I still feel like if that was happening last year, you would be like that game and now you're looking at it like, oh my gosh, can we please just get there? But luckily this defense is as nasty as they are. This defense is fantastic. We're gonna preview both sides of the football a little bit more in depth tomorrow as well. We'll give you some matchups to watch.
We'll tell you how to win some money on DraftKings as well, and then we'll of course give our predictions and if you want to be a part of our predictions, give us a call.
