This is Talking Cowboys screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot com and the official Dallas Cowboys says play now. Your hosts Mickey's Fagnola, Brian brought us, Taylor Stern and Rob Phillips. Hello, everyone, it is Friday, and we have got another Talking Cowboys for your brand new myself, Mickey, Rob Brian All coming straight live to your phone wherever you're watching, connected TV
devices whatever, with the new Talking Cowboys today. And we've got a lot to talk about here in the SWBC Mortgage Studio because, as we talked yesterday, the injury report continues to get larger and larger, which happens as you get through the weeks of the NFL. But before we get to all that not so fun stuff, what's going on fun in your life? Mickey? I think when we're introduced should be like Jack in a box. We just pop up, pop up like this, like whack a mole. Yeah.
I think that would be good t see each time the guy says their names, we just pop up, pop up. Yeah. We need to encourage them to watch on their connected TV devices in online so they can see that. Yeah. Absolutely, It's tour or Friday by the way cash or Friday. So make people here. Oh, so behave yourself because they're gonna be people walking through yourself. You guys, watch your back. It's always Taylor Nike and see it's always when we're doing that, Tommy John read it really is. Yeah, it
never fails. We got a good one for today too, by the way. Yeah, wait my choice. Oh man, it's just the worst, but it is not the worst. Tommy John is great, but it's the best. Yeah, it's just you know, you guys, get you guys feel it. We know what you were saying. You know. Now, I know what a lot of Cowboys fans were thinking when they saw the injury report from yesterday. They were thinking, Okay, Sean Lee, are you gonna play two days of DNP. It'll be three days, It'll be three days. Brian just
did this signal for out. Yeah, he warmed up with the team, did the stretch and whatever they do before they do their stretching, and then he did his jumping jacks and then departed. Yeah he was not there. Yeah, oh yeah, I can't imagine he'll be ready to go. Yeah. And Charles Tapper did get officially moved to the reserve
injured list with the foot injury. Now, surgery today, surgery today, eight to ten weeks, right, Yeah, they're about sometimes surgery helps it out and it speeds up the process, speed it up. Right. I was told if I was an athlete, they would have done surgery, and I've been back in six weeks. You are an athlete if you have a body or not a professional one. That my life, my living depended on it. Now. Tyren Smith was DMP two and Robin MP again today. You think he was not
out there? Yeah, it wasn't out there. No, what does that mean? I think that means they're saving him for Sunday. Yeah. I think. I think you've only got so many snaps in your body and they're not going to use them all up in practice because you're a four time pro bowler that you can kind of afford to do that. Yeah, you can't. I think that I do think that Tyrant Smith will play. I'd really really do. I'm I was very curious though, if this was a game, maybe a
playoff game. I think I think that I think Sean would play, would play, Yeah, I do, But with the bye week the following week, you know, just another week So what did Jerry say on the fan today Rob about that? He basically said that, he said, if you didn't have the bye week, you could be more aggressive towards his availability, although they want to be mindful of not reinjuring that thing, the hamstring. But yeah, he didn't rule him out, but it sure sounds like they're airing
on the side of caution with their all pro linebacker. Yes, absolutely, And now Anthony Brown was new to the injury report yesterday, limited with the ankle. What'd you see out there today? Make you when you see he was out there and he went through the everything up to the stretch and then when they got into individually, he started and he came back and I think they were going to retape his ankle but left. Yeah, it looked like he was going to continue to do something today. So I'm sure
they'll list them. Is limited might have something to do with your inactives though too this week you think about that, Anthony Brown? Yeah, yeah, we'll get to the inactives and who we're all guessing shortly. But of course, you know, Anthony Hitchens still full. He's back this week. Guys. We're ready to see that, especially with Sean Lee probably out. Yeah. Now I'm gonna say I'm gonna say that Anthony Hitchins is going to start for you good be a weak
side lineback, week side linebacker. Yeah, And which is interesting, sorry, Brian, go ahead. Is interesting because we're talking about Jalen Smith and trying to help out his workload. But if there's no Sean he's still got to be an integral part of what the he does at middle linebacker. Like you said, Mick, if if Hitchins plays the will you still got Jalen in there? You still got Justin Durant? Is an option? Give me your plan you think, I think Durant there,
he comes in on nickel dime or whatever. If they have two linebackers and they can rotate who's in the middle and who's on the week's side. To agree with that, you might want Hitchens in the middle and Duran on the outside. Or you can do it the other way around. You give Hitchens the green dot. Uh I would? I would? I would too. Communication take take take that that pressure
off of Jalen. And it's not that difficult, right You hear it's smart, You hear the play in your ear and you call it in the huddle, but you also got to make some adjustments, and Shawn Lee was taking care of all the They put a lot on Jalen Smith's shoulders this past week. Yep, that's great. And now guys, Stephen payed yesterday making you you just do not feel confident now. And he wasn't out there again today. So
that's three weeks in a row without any practice. He tried to play through last two games and I think they got diminishing returns last week. I think he gets to rest this week next week and then see where
he's at going towards the San Francisco game. And absolutely, and we've talked about it here on the show about Nolan Carroll's concussion and being in concussion protocol, and the big thing that I think, you know, Mickey, you were really bringing up was Okay, say he can go, but it's gonna matter what he can do the next day. He always feeling again fool yesterday. I believe that's a good sign. What did you think by the way Jason answered that after on the walk off today about him,
I had Jerry Doody. Oh you had Jerry Doody. Well, then I can't I was listening. Don't you think he sounded like he wasn't ready to go? He sounds like that he is a yeah really as well? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't think he's out of it yet. Yeah, I think too, That's what I'm saying. It's going to affect how you think about what you're doing with with Anthony Anthony Brown. I think Anthony Brown plays, yeah, I do, but he's I think, you know, he got a little
compromised yesterday. He's gonna be compromised today. They're gonna fully treat this ankle and see if they can get him as healthy as possible. But you know, there was some thought, well, can Nolan Carroll go the thing you had with a Woozier. That's what I was bringing up with a Woozier, or was going to bring up with the Woozier. The fact that he can play corner and he can play potentially some safety, you know, could kind of help you a
little bit in that regard. Absolutely, And yeah, Woozier being back, this will be his first game back since he went out early in the Broncos game, and big task here with the Packers offense coming in and ready to fire off let me ask you guys a question, if I could please do just from what you've seen Mickey and Camp of a Woozier and coverage, is that would that be a good option to have on the field instead of say a Cavon Frasier. Well, you would have Xavier
Woods in there. No, I know, but if you had, if if they brought, if they brought, say they wanted to play with an extra defensive instead of playing Woods could play, Jones could play. But having another I'm saying if Yeah, I mean, because see, we've seen is versatile enough that he could line up in the slot, he could line up back. We haven't seen him do that in a game, right, Um, But I think that there's a spot somewhere on those change up defenses for him
if he's not indeed starting. Yeah, And I don't know that they throw him out and say, okay, you're starting ahead of Anthony Brown and less Brown is is limited, I mean somewhat compromised. I think they would go with Jordan Lewis Shrob before they would go with on the left side. On the left side, Yeah, if you had to start standing out about Lewis, yes, Skandrick Lewis would
start goes your three. I mean when you talk about Brown in there in the mix, I think they would start Lewis first and then figure out what they need to do with Ben Wickery and then also though with George with But I think you have to be careful on who's playing what side that they're used to playing, because they're not gonna be in base defense. They're gonna be a nickel. So Scandrick's inside, so Lewis been playing the right the right cord, and you got to decide
who's who's left right or correct? Yes, right, yeah, yeah, but you're saying between and more of a safety role, a Woozier or Cavon Frasier. That's what I was kind of thinking. I was thinking that maybe how do you how do you get the best six guys on the field. Well, yeah, and Cavon, we talked about it during the week. He's been been one of the dime players. Yeah, but they've they've given up some plays downfield, so I think he
might lean towards the lousier there. I mean, he's been already a pure corner in a coverage type situation than Cavon, who's been playing back there and dime. But he's more I mean, he's more kind of a box safety. But to Mickey's point, we haven't seen him do it, but we have, you know, in that in that Denver game, we saw him throw all those kids in there and go and say go play, you know, just go do it. And they they really might not have much choice. Considering
green Bay. We don't think green Bay will be able to run the football. We think their motive trans say better not be able to. They don't try to run it really, I mean, their motive transportation this week should be throwing the football. So how many guys can you get on the field that can cover? And what what might happen is if they go to the the deacon deacon, Yeah, you know, maybe you just use one linebacker there you go, because they what they did a couple of times in
those games. They moved Heath up like he was a linebacker. But it's a dB, right, and so maybe you can leave Heath where he's at, use a woozy a there you go. You know, That's kind of what I was thinking. Yet, as many of those guys up front as you can cover with it's kind of what green Bay does with that nitro. Yeah, as you were talking about that nitro packet.
Explain that to the fans who didn't hear the other day. Well, essentially, what they do is they're trying to get as many athletic cover guys as they can, using safeties as linebackers and less defensive linemen. And like Brian uses the term clog and cover, that's kind of what you're doing there, And so that's Mickey, that's an idea. I mean, just get as many pure cover guys as you can, more guys who can cover and run as opposed to you know,
the bigger linebacker pure types. You ever had that nitro beer? I don't know. We've only drinked Miller Light beer. That's right, say, Oh, it's not a brand, it's the type they it's it's infused with nitrogen and it comes out real slow out of the town. Oh yes, I've seen that. It takes like five minutes to get a sixteen ounce beer. And why don't want to wait five minutes to get a beer? You know what it's really I've had it in Colorado
ski joints. I would too. How much would you, guys, fans, would you pay to see Mickey on the mountain skin good skier. I know they better be able to keep up if they're I bet you Mickey's a black black skier, black diamond ski. As long as there's not bumps, I can do. I can do steep, but I can't do the bump. I'm still waiting for the tennis match between
you two. Oh it will, It will happen in gund You know if I have broken ribs though I'm not playing, and I hope that's the same what happened to the Time Montgomery because Time Montgomery is still limited on their practice report. The only guy who really changed is Davon House and h who's this guy Nick Perry? And as a matter of fact, on that limited, that that nebulous word we limited, He didn't. He reportedly didn't do anything
in team periods. His limited was like basically Sean Lee's limited. Yeah, he hasn't done anything. And they finally admitted on Davante Adams that he's still in concussion protocol and he has You know, they're acting like, okay, Saturdays the deadline, Well, of course Saturday's the deadline. You know you're gonna make
a decision. Is he cleared or not, so they don't have to say, right, yeah, they don't want to tell, just like Jason didn't give anything away on the injuries in the press conference today, right, they just don't have to give the other team uh an injury report and McCarthy's you know he's tops at that. Well, they this way, Garrett, Garrett, it competes with them. Well, you know what they do.
It's funny. They they practice, They have their press conferences before they practice, so they don't have to answer those questions like Jason Jason does. Yeah, Rob and I were joking before. You know, it's funny. On Friday's, Jerry Jones does speak to the fan around the same time that Jason Garrett is going for his final press conference of the week and today, Rob sends out a tweet that says,
Jerry Jones feeling very good about Tyrn Smith. Would be surprised if he didn't play at all, you know, just very confident positive everyone's feelings. Okay. Then Dave sends out a tweet from Jason Garrett press coverts Tyrn Smith if he does anything today, would practice We'll be limited unsure, you know. Jonathan Cooper Byron Bell taking snaps at left tackle for preparation, just totally. I took the Rob approach.
I retweeted Rob's I retweeted, Na, here you go. Jerry's kind of the big picture guy, and Jason literally he does. He's in the now. He's like, what am I thinking about five minutes from now? Okay, Well, Tyrann's probably not going to practice today, YadA YadA, but he's not thinking about Sunday. He's just trying to have a good Friday. Mackey, Tyrn can go out there after we leave, sure and do something because wasn't there when when when it would
trick us? And by the way, you'll never guess who took on the dance role during straight Let me guess. Let me guess, girl, looney, it was an offensive lineman. Nope, somebody different. Jonathan Cooper, the veteran Byron Bell. Oh was that a sight to see and they've got video of it? No? No, yes, Well he went to New Mexico right right, and he's from East Texas, I mean where East Texas state is Greenville. Yes, he is from Greenville and they had named a street
after him too. I know a lot about Byron Bell. Byron Bell, now I know he can somewhat somewhat. At New Mexico, we would see their rookie camp. We don't get to see that now for the Cowboys, but you would when you were in college and kind of see how they made the freshman guys get up and sing. Byron Bell was always the leader of that would be dancing on stage with him. I think he can do the worm? Did he do the worm out there? Mickey? What is the worm? You want to show me? I
can't show you. No, he did not. He did some stuff like this he has put on his arm. Yeah, it was. It was quite assigned to see somebody three y pounds. Yeah, maybe he's gonna do the Tommy John Reids. We should adjustment needed all the music man, huh, Alex Herman, he got booed today mid mid song, everything went silent. Oh no, you never heard Mark complaining in your entire life. And he's in there. I believe they played that one song that you recorded, Vicky, the one song they just
couldn't like. But anyway, the thing they do like is that Mike Daniels still limited. I think he'll be good to go for this game. But that's just happiness for the Cowboys aligne yeah if Yeah, they're clearly their best players. I mean you talk about that with Daniels and then and then Kenny Clark. Yeah, of the two, but they've they've had their shares of struggles. This is a team
that gives up. You know, we talk about first down runs and we all, you know, as fans, like to bang our heads against the wall, thinking it's too predictable. But you know, sixty one percent of the time last year you did it, you had some success. So uh, you know, as a Packer team, to give us up almost five yards to carry on first down, the Cowboys going to find a way to get some traction. Mickey's been asking to stay ahead of the chains. This might
be the opportunity to stay ahead of the chains. If the Packers aren't able to kind of play with the you know, any type of you know, any type of solidness on that on that wall, especially on first down, the Cowboys need to take advantage of that. Absolutely. And and you guys were talking on their opposite side. Now Bolaga and Bokatari. You know yesterday Brian you're saying either one of them is going to go. Bokatari, Yeah, I
think I think David Baktari goes. I think he does, and I think that Bilaga is a No, he's got the high ankle spring. Rob talked about it today on
the Xerox Blueprint for Winning. You know that is this an opportunity for the Cowboys to maybe, you know, take another advantage of a guy playing and you know they've had some success rushing the passer this year, but you know it's gonna be I mean, Cincinnati had success rushing the past or two and they took the l So it's got to be a little bit timely in the way you do it. Bilaga's backup is Adam Panky. Yeah yeah, see from not sure Yeah yeah. The thing he was
a he was a street free agent. Actually, just need to know, yeah, if they just need to actually college Robert's McCray. Justin McCray sixty four, I know on the Packer depth chart they have it that way. And then it's not pinky no, no, it's it's actually it's actually justin McCray number sixty four. Now, you talk about a team that's completely opposite of what you are when you look at your offensive line, you know, if you think about the players they have now Bolaga was a first
round pick. I think I'm right about that. Yeah. In two thousand and ten, uh David Baktiari was a fourth round pick. Lane Taylor, their other starter at guard, was a college was a street free agent. Their center was a fifth round pick. They and their right tackle was a street free agents in two thousand and seventeen. This is a team that does not use high draft picks, with the exception of Brian Bulaga in two thousand and ten. They do not use first round picks on offensive linemen.
We can use that. Whats Virginia if you just needed ton I needed to know. I appreciate you, Mickey. Everyone Panky is from West Virginia. And we'll tell you more exciting stuff like that. You know we Mickey and I exchanged gifts. Yeah, every month. I just let you know. That's the gift that keeps on giving. Yeah, I'll let you know, y'all do like anniversary of our friendship gifts? Yeah? Oh yes, every month your friendship Friday shirt got yesterday? Tay oh, I will I got a T shirt yesterday from the Cowboys prosh love it. It's really great and it has a picture of Dak and Zeke on it. So I figured you'd
like to wear that to the game. Well, I just had somebody show up today and give me a Dak Zilla T shirt. Uh yeah. The name, yeah, Dak is the perfect name for a Dallas Cowboys quarterback in marketing because his name can go in so many differently marketing employees. Yesterday, Dave was saying, you know, this week it's gonna be go Dak go instead of gopac goy. Is this his month to shine? October? You know, yeah, October. I'm just saying, Mick,
there's the possibilities or endless order, Dak. There you go, it's the gift that keeps on getting. Dak number. Huh, Dak number December. That's a stretch. That's a stretch. Hey, but what we're not stretching on this week? Unfortunately, due to the injuries here to the Cowboys roster. Hey, let me tell you how big this game is. Oh, I'm
oh tell us, Mick, is it a big game. I've got a friend who comes in from out of town as season tickets for the packs from or the Cowboys top row one hundred section right under Jerry sweet Good. He sold them for one thousand, one hundred and sixty five dollars each. They're basically once you get pasted. Our ticket department'd like to hear that. Once you get past, once you get past your saw on the secondary market. Sure, so you know you gotta pay for your license or
whatever they call it the feet of buy tickets. But the ticket face values like what three fifty three eighty it's three fifty ticket. Yeah, yeah, one thousand, one hundred and sixty five. I bought those for Mickey so he could have prime viewing if he wants to get away from me in the press box. I'm just so generous. So that tells you what people are willing to pay to come to this game. This always worries me playing the Packers day about the number of fans they do.
It's traditionally they go everywhere to watch games. They don't go everywhere. They're here already, they're here, but people want to escapewoay, hey let Brian finish this point. Go ahead, No, I just like I said, this will be one of those games where you feel like when we used to come down here for playoff games, bring a lot of fans went home disappointed a lot of times too. But yeah, this is a big This is a big venue for
Packer fans to hit and as what a super Bowl here? Yeah, and Cowboys fans, you know you're talking about how big it is money wise, But Jonathan Leslie and Bobby Gibbs are driving down from New Mexico nine and a half hours they see this game, So I think it's always a big game. Yeah. The Packers people get upset about the number of opposing fans in the stadium. The bottom line is Dallas as a transplant city, so there's fans
from Chicago, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Wisconsin. It's gonna happen. Detroit, huh, Detroit, Sure, everywhere. It's gonna have every northern city where they want to get out a winner, it's gonna happen. But as long as the Cowboys are good, there's gonna be playing blue and silver and well, I'm sorry Cowboys fans sept for Mickey's friends had sold his tickets for three grand. Yeah,
I'm sorry Cowboys fans. No Shawn Lee this weekend, probably as let's get into the inactives always, guys, I'll run him off the seven guys I'm thinking, and you guys agree, disagree, and we'll get into discussion after So Cooper rush number seven. Yes, Darren McFadden, Yeah, I thought that was going to change last week and blow and behold what happened? There you go McFadden, I mean with Morris with a big run. So well we'll see. I have a question on that too.
And he qualified for the guest on The Jason Garrett Show too, did he? He did? Nolan Carroll, Shawn Lee, Stephen Paya. I have one of an either or sometimes I don't know exactly which one. Last week mine was Darren McFadden or Alfred Moore as Chad's green or Cavon Frasier a green starting and finally Noah Brown. All right, well let's get into that Mike Chads green starting. So you think it's gonna be Cavon Frasier then inactive? Oh, I don't know, I hadn't looked at it. I just
think Chas Green's ready to go. No, you think Chass Green's starting to guard? Yes, you think he's gonna start over over Jonathan Cooper Cooper, Wow, that's a fact. I don't think so. Sorry, I just don't he stuff. He's healthy. Yeah, I just don't feel like that they're going to go that route. I just to me, I feel like that they I don't know, this is just me, This is just me. I don't think they fully trust Chaz Creen Mickey. I really really don't. And I want to believe what
you're saying. I really really do. But I feel like though is as badly as we saw what happened with Jonathan Cooper. I think a lot of it had to do with a late week assertion into the offensive line. I think I think that I think Jonathan Cooper starts this game, and I think there is I think that you know, we've talked about that. They were talking about splitting reps with Bell and Green at tackle as the backup, you know, because we think that Smith is going to
play the owner general manager says he's gonna play miss Emmett. Clearly, I'm sorry. Yeah, but I just have a feeling that better you would sit Chaz Green. I if you gave me a choice between sitting Chads Green or sitting Cabon Frasier on her list, I would sit Cabon Frasier myself,
because I Cabon Frasier if if, if I'm trusted. I asked Jason Garrett this question in the walk off, and this is and this is why I appreciate what Tay's list is because I if you tell me that that he's a better cover guy than Cabon Frasier', I'm gonna put him on my forty six because I need guys that can cover. So maybe you do sit cab On Frasier. It made seventy nine, But I just have a feeling
they're gonna start Jonathan Cooper. I really really do, boy that that kind of sounds like, Oh, they're putting the blame on Chaz Green for the first three games. I don't think that's fair. Yeah, I mean, you know, to me, it's Lyle Collins, there's some there's you knew there was gonna be some growing pains with him at right tackle, so why not the same way at Chads Green at left guard. Why are you pulling the plug on him?
I'm just not healthy. I just thought it was a better run blocker between the two between Cooper and Green. Green's better, Green's a better player all around. Yeah, I just I just have my doubts what they might do. I mean when your list, when with your list, I you know, if you told me that they're splitting reps at tackle and we've seen we've seen Chads Green have some successive tackle. I just don't know if the coaches
have the confidence in him now. I really really don't to stay healthy, To stay healthy, make it yes, liability, that's one thing. If it's about performance. I didn't watch him in the first three games and say, oh, he's the reason why there's no no. I think it's I think it's a Cooper was bad the other day. He was bad. I think all five guys can share and when they're that's downs as fair. In the first three weeks of the season, and Travis Frederick spoke to have
a really good quote during the week. It said it all it takes is one guy to him. He's absolutely right. And because they're they're like a they're like connected on a string. It affects everything else. Do you really need Noah Brown out there? That's saying him is my last guy? Yeah, she put Noah Brown on. I believe that's what you said, right. You told me you can Yeah, you told me, well you can have seven without having any of those offensive linemen.
Who I see who you put over there? Mickey wrote ben Wickery, Well why not? Well, I'm many kays it could cover. I'm playing with as many corners as I can in this game. So wait, ben Wickery up over Noah Brown? Yes, no, no, no, no. He put Cooper Rush, Darren McFadden, Nolan Carroll, Shaun Lee, Stephen piet and then his instead of mine. He put ben Wickery, no Brown. Okay, so he didn't worry about Chad's Green or Capon Fraser. He has them both active? Is that right, Mick? Yeah? Yeah?
What were your numbers again, Micky? I mean, if you just did numbers, is it seven? Rush twenty? Did you go? Did you go McFadden again, McFadden? Did you go? Carroll, Carroll? Yeh, ben Rickery and Brown? I just was no Brown in active last week? No play? Who's better on special teams? Cabon Frasier been Wickrean. That's not really a fair question.
Cabon Frasier helps you in special teams for sure, core guy. Um, I just know Ah Brown, I know, I know they want to keep him active, but I don't think you have to keep six receivers active. I know in this game, you don't. I know, she said about the running game. He kind of helps there a little bit as a blocker. But I think this is gonna this game could turn into another track meet. I'm gonna keep as many of
those secondary guys as I can active. I'm with you there, yeah, and that's why I mean, but I'm also if you told me who would you keep active instead of like a Woozier or Cabon Frasier, give me the guy that can cover, Give me the guy i've seen cover. Yeah, more Weazier's out there. Yeah yeah, I think it comes down to um Geito. He's gonna be out there too. Yeah, out there? Okay, good? Good? Both of them combined into one's great. But you you got rid of not rid
not got but you sat eighty five, right? So you sat? Noah Brown? Yeah I did too. Yeah. I don't think they want to know, but there I can't imagine they're going to sit one of those offensive alignment. Yeah. Yeah, with the tentative status of Oh Smith. That's why I
think Bell's been practicing over there. Yeah. Now, I hate saying that this was a lucky break for the Dallas Cowboys this week, but you know, a lot of talk while we were getting prepared earlier in the week was who are they going to make the cut to bring back David Irving. Of course they do not have to make that decision now that Charles Tapper has been moving r Of course we would never wish that on anyone. Sure, but that means that's David Irving spot now, so save
somebody else's job. It did? It did? Maybe Ben Wickery exactly. It gets into Mickey's point about why not make Ben Wickery and active? Then if you were gonna possibly cut him this week and you can have Chas Green and Cavan Frasier with no worry active in this game. I think that the fact that they would if Nolan Carroll, if Nolan Carroll was healthy, I think he would be up in Carrol Carol, Yeah, instead of Ben Wickery. Yeah, so then ben Wickery could have been an inactive guy. Yeah,
do you still have him inactive. Oh Carroll, Oh Ben Wickery, Yeah, I put him in there. That's his guy instead of Chad's greener Cavon Frasier. Okay, so you kept Frasier, you kept two guys up with you kept thirty five and seventy nine up and put down twenty three and twenty four. Yes, yes, and I put down twenty four. And then my indecision was on Chad's greener Cavon Frasier as one. He's got
a point about the offensive lineman though. And if you gave me a choice between Chad's green and Cavon Frasier of who can help me the most, Wow, that's because but Cavon Frasier's good. We saw we saw seventy nine dress last week and didn't play a snap. But it's kind of what Rob was giving you guys. The hint at is they might do that, just like they did for Noah Brown in the Denver Broncos game, to be that insurance for Terence Williams. Sam. Still, I'm still not
sure why they did it. I'm not either, Because you had Looney to be your swing center guard and you had Byron Bell to be your backup tackle. I assumed, yeah, guard, see to me? Then he played mostly We watched Looney in the preseason. He played mostly center. Yeah, but he did play some guards. I know he's Cooper was playing center. I know he's technically your swing guy. But I think maybe if things were going downhill, it left guard. You
had Chaz Green available. But think about who they brought in and when they went three tight with an extra offensive lineman, it was Looney. It was Chaz Green, right, ite't Byron Bell? It was Looney. Well, why else would he be active? Though? Who's that Chazz? Oh? I wish they would have had I wish they had Tapper active. Yeah, that to me, an extra rusher, that would have made
more sense. Yeah, Tapper, Poor Tapper. We're gonna go into another season next year of still not knowing, still not know how many games was he inactive already this year? Two or three? Just two? He got a sack in the opener, and it's like, yeah, I was surprised he was inactive the last couple of weeks. I really was. And I know you want Taco to play, but can't you find a way to get him all active? Yeah, and maybe rotate him a little bit give him some snaps. Yeah,
the bigger question that I had last week. My or question last week was Alfred Morris or Darren McFadden. Obviously, Alfred Morris ended up having a good game that was such a down to the wire thinking McFadden was going to be up. I just thought, looking at how they had done things during the week of last week, that that was really their direction that they were leaning on and talking to a few coaches, that they were thinking that. But then of course that came down to Alfred Morris.
But it goes back to what Mickey brought up that I've kind of created, is like, yeah, that's a good theory. Okay, is he Elliott? We still don't know the decision sure from this fifth court here, and I know, Rob, you're shaking your head, but this affects things, You're right, it does. You know, if Darren McFadden now going maybe being inactive this Sunday and then going into the bye week, he's going to be really really fresh if they need him from a decision from that court. It's two years in
a row. You know, this wasn't an issue last year, but he came in December, had fresh legs and replaced Alfred as the second back. So yeah, he's talk about insurance. He's ultimate insurance there. We don't know when this zeek decision is kind of gonna come down. It could be as soon as today, could be the bye week, Monday or Tuesday. But you'd like to think by the bye week we would know have some clarity whether Zeke's going to be on the field going forward or not. For
the rest I'm going to put odds on it. Everybody pick a day that we find out. I say, Monday at five thirty, like everyone's tired from the day before. You you want to go home? Or this Friday at five thirty, not today at five thirty. Please please, my family's coming into town. Exactly. You need a break. I'm taking two. I take Tuesday. I like Tuesdays today. It gives them midday, midday where we're looking at whenever. Yeah, I think mid morning. I'll go with that to me,
to me that it all figured out. That that gives them, It gives him money, gives gives him this week, It gives him the weekend for any final things they need to think about. To to alert the NFL and Zeke's people, Hey listen, we're gonna come with a decision Monday kind of gives him some day to kind of clean, extra time to clean up anything. And then Tuesday, you've got all your your ducks in a row and this is
our decision. So when they announced a decision like that, dude, they have to get everybody back in the courtroom or they just say this is I think they just text. They don't need to fly any Yeah. I think I think they just tell. I think they just tell what the decision is tweeted out. If you guys follow at Fifth Court, somebody in charge would have done that. Judge tweets with like a gavel emoji or something like that.
Bam official alert alert the media when they when the moz Ant in Texas ruled, he just they just announced it. He wasn't he could have gone on the website. Wasn't a reconvening after the hearing? That was what was Friday? Yeah, what my fear is that. Yeah, well, just guys keep us in the wall. If the headman was making the decision, we'd get it at five thirty in the morning. You're talking about Donald Trump, I said, the headman. The headman. When I think when we're talking cowboys, is uh. Jerry
was going to make a decision. Yeah, hey before we go to breake um. And I know we got a lot talked about. But I don't know if you guys had heard, but Bruce Hardy asked away a long time used to be in charge of Texas Stadium and a great friend to high school football. He set up all those games that they day every weekend at Texas Stadium, and he'd been fighting it for a while, gonna miss well, I mean he's been retired, but bright Emy used to
be on that scooter. Yeah, sure, at Texas Stadium. And then they got to a T and T state was more mobilized. He was driving it, but he passed away last night. So I just thought we'd make mention of that before we get to our next segment. That's a good way to go. Yes, we'll be back here in

get to the callers. You have a caller on the line, Jose from Florida. What is your question? Yeah, I just have a quick question. I don't want to be a downer guy, but I am having a little bit of concern with the corners especially with Anthony Brown. I really thought he would kind of step it up this year, especially after what he did last year. But it seems like he's I don't know if it's a sophomore slump where if I'm an overreacting to just a young player.
But thank you, guys, I appreciate your time. Thank good question. I don't know if that he's played as well as he did last year. I think it's a fair point. He may, I really do, and I you know, puzzling. I think we've seen better out of Jordan Lewis than we have out of out of Brown, you know, and we've we've noticed more, uh you know, but I'll tell you what. Though they did try and run a screen the other day. I do remember the play to Tavon
Austin underneath and he came underneath. He beat the block of Cooper Cup and then made a tackle. But we haven't seen a lot. It seems like every game we've seen two or three plays from Lewis where we haven't seen we've seen penalties from Anthony Brown. So that is a that's a fair point, fair observation. And yeah, and it coming into this, I thought you would see a guy you know, he's taken over obviously for Nolan Carroll,
so he's also my mind, is the Denver one. Yeah, he had a chance for an interception that would be huge play in the game. But he's tied for the team lead an interception. They have three takeaways, Mickey, they got two interceptions, one each. They get it. You know, I think some of his problems, I hope some of the problem he's had once he's been on the left
side is I think he's been caught in some zone coverage. Yes, and he I don't know if he played it too soft, or he played it to zone inside routes that opening and no one inside helped him. Yeah. See, that's that's what always bothers me about these guys that are press man type players. I have to say, Anthony Brown can't play zone or can't react. But man, you you play him off seven yards and they throw slants inside that
is so hard for a defender to react to. I mean, the really the great ones are able to read it, drive and get it. It's almost like you're giving him that kid. Yeah, and that and that's that's that's unfortunate because, like I say to me, if it was my defense, I would play press man the whole day. Yeah, I would take my chances that I'm gonna get some defensive holdings. I'm gonna I would far I would rather be far
more aggressive than I would. You know, but we've seen Marinelli play zone like he did in the air zone a game and then flip it to man and all of a sudden his guys come to life. Yeah, so, and I think he's gonna have to. I don't think you want to play Aaron Rodgers in a ton of zone, but we might see some clog and cover here and try and make him keep build that wall around him, back him up, and see if he can throw it over the top of some guys. Absolutely, Robert, your poll,
please yes. Leading into Sunday's major, he said it was a big game. It's a big game, Cowboys Packers major Key Sunday. I've got four of them, four keys. I know Brian's answer. Number one, keeping Rogers in the pocket, discipline rushes. Number two takeaways, as we said they have three so far through four games. Number three established the run was Zeke get that run game going consistently. And
number four third down offense. They were seven to four foot on third down against the Rams, but they still found themselves in a lot of third and long situations so far this season. So of those four, which you guys think is the biggest one, door number three, Door number run the football. Three, run the football. Get a Zeke, you'll going, huh, get them going and keep them going. Does Zeke go off in this game, because then that'll take care of door number four? Yeah, the third and
longs fair. Hey, I just want to see Zeke go off because if Zeke goes off, we talked about this on our Blueprint presented by Xerox. If Zeke goes on it zero Zerox Okay Xerox. Yes, Sarah, thought i'd heard that before you. Yes, we're all about that chitching as you were saying, as I was saying, if Zeke goes off, then it brings possibilities for mister Witten and mister Beasley
to have a good day as well. And we've talked a lot about it on the show that Beasley and Witten suddenly shut down completely in the past two games. So I'd like to see Bees do some sauce. I mean, he had a fantastic game against the Packers last season. Two touchdowns. He was doing the sauce dance all over the place. He should leave the dance line. He's getting a lot of respect. I mean the touchdown to Bryce.
I don't know if I've seen this too often. You diagram this where the safety is going across the field to double Beasley. I mean just pointing him out this. We're not gonna take him. We're gonna take him out of the red zone play and it's other guys have to step up. You leave the team in receptions and suddenly there's a lot of notice on you. Yeah, same thing like sacks if you lead the team in sex. Yeah, yeah, Ran,
I know your answer. I'm gonna say the discipline because because I feel like though, even if you run the football and you have ten twelve play drives and you chew clock and you finish, he still has the ability to make big plays on those side of the field. He could take He could take at three plays and next thing you know, it's seventy two yards. It's a touchdown.
Now you're back on the field and you're you're grinding it out again, and it all of a sudden though that if it if it wasn't him, I would I would totally say about running the football, like Mickey said, I think that would be huge. But the discipline. You're gonna have to make some stops in this game. You're gonna have to find a way to get off the field on third down, and you've had struggles. You know.
My gut feeling for this game is going to be about the Cowboys twenty nine percent of the time have allowed an opponent to convert a third and ten. You know, third and ten, third and ten plus. You know that that used to be there calling card. Last year it was play money forty four. Get off the field, you know, get off the field. They haven't been getting off the field.
And what I worry about is if you don't play with discipline against Darren Rodgers, if you let him outside the pocket, if you let him make that throws to Marty b or to cob or to Jordy Nelson and you're running around chasing him and you're not covering, he can It doesn't matter how much you run the ball. He could take two plays, three plays and sport just as easy as you can. Trying to grind this thing out, Well, look at last week's game. I mean, you know this
team scores thirty points and that's not enough. Yeah, that's not enough. Dak has three touchdowns, not enough. Yeah. I'm not saying run the ball to grind it out. I'm saying run the ball to be able to score thirty something that you might you might absolutely have to guys, he's gonna score thirty points. Yeah, just face it. Yeah, I don't care how good your rushes. Yeah, he's gonna score thirty points. He doesn't see the game they won
at Lambeau. They took advantage of turnovers. They had some turnovers and he fumbles the ball inside the one yard line on a quarterback draw. Yeah, and they took took Yeah, they they took advantage of He threw an interception to Buried Church, he fumbled on the goal line. He missed a fourth down pass. If you remember with with Cobb down the middle of the field, that you've got to find a way. Like last week the Giant, the Rams beat you because they got three stops I think on
the and the and had some turnovers. They had two take and had two takeaways. But they but they got you off the field three times on third down in the second half. That's all they needed. And you and you're to beat Green Bay, you're gonna have to do the same thing. You're gonna have to get off the field when you have the opportunity. You cannot allow him to hit a third and twenty on you. You can't do that again. He's the second best third down pass rush,
quarterback passing. Yeah in the NFC right now. Jared Goff was number one. See that. But this is that's that's my key right there. I'm with you. I think Rod Marinelli spoke to this yesterday tape. They've got to keep him in a well, yes, inside the pocket, close the well and let him get outside. I mean the third and twenty is the textbook definition of what you don't want to have. Like Rod Baronelli's quote where he says, you know, once you get out, you just can call
it a com completion. Get ready for the best place. And I thought Scott Linahan's quoting he's from Afar, he's not game planning for Rogers was summed it up so great. It's like when he gets outside the pocket, it's like the play is just starting now. Yeah, where he can freelance and buy time and his guys. Fine, he'll run for a first sound, he'll yeah, and Dak does that really well too. Yeah, Rodgers is the best in the league at it. See you're when you're playing defense and
all of a sudden you see him break contain. Your first reaction is, oh, damn, eyes get big and you stop and now and then their their receivers are so conditioned to keep running. And as long as his eye level is down the field, you're in trouble. It's get his eye level down the well. Build the well, make him think about the well, and they can throw out of the well. Yeah, that's where you have to find a way to make it work. I mean tough thrown out of a well. We'll check it out. Though he's
been sacked fifteen times in four games. They're one and and here's his passing statistics three eleven, three forty three, three thirteen, And I understand why it says one seventy nine. Against the Bears, he threw four touchdown passes and the Bears kept turning the ball over so he didn't have so his quarterback rating against the Bears, with only one hundred and seventy nine yards passing was one twenty eight yea,
So no one even though you stop him. He still Yeah, look at this quarterback rating against the Cowboys and seven starts. It's one one oh one point seven. I go on a limb here. He's the best I've ever seen. He's the best quarterback I've ever watched. And he doesn't have the Super Bowls or whatever, but he literally take. He has no weaknesses to his game. He's got the arms, ring, he's got the best accuracy of anybody. He can move. He's a student of the game too. You know, everyone
talked a lot about Dak Prescott. Oh, how is he going to study in his seconds year? Everyone was concerned. Okay, the Giants, they have Dak's number, they know how to beat this team. I think the Packers are more likely to have Dak's number and the way that they study and do different things. Yeah, they could have studied last year. Yeah, I know the equal I think this is where this is why, this is why I go different with you on this one. Yeah. I think that it's different because
I think the I think the Cowboys. I think Lenahan has an understanding how to play the Packers defense. I think he has an understanding how to play against dom Capers. That part I'm not worried about I'm not worried about them running the football. I'm not worried about them throwing the ball. I'm really not. You're worried. I'm worried about the defense having to make enough plays. And you know, if somehow, some way you start to get stops, you
get stops in this football game. But as you get stops, you got to keep scoring. I think that's what they did at Lambo exactly. It turned into a game game where all of a sudden, now, okay, they're not going to run the ball. I don't think they're being able to run the ball in this game, but I do think that they feel like it. You know what we could get in multiple wide receiver packages. They can't cover all our wide receivers. They they're gonna try and match
Marty b with Byron Jones. Let's see how that works. And that's what Rogers is gonna do. They're gonna let Rogers win this game. And we all know he's capable winning this game. But I don't I do not worry about the Cowboys offense in this game. I really don't. I worry about their defense. It's gonna be I'm not gonna say first one to forty wins, but you're gonna have to score thirty some points to beat him because they're gonna score even if you well on defense, you
would think. I mean, they only put up sixteen at Lambeau, but man, they did a great job of cut. Where did those turnovers occur? They inside the ten years, Lind Yeah, they were moving. They had a lot of total yards. Well, see they got the ball. I think one of the turnovers was the Dak was it the Dak fumble that first interception? And they got the ball and then Rogers they're driving and they run up. They try and run a quarterback draw and you know, the ball's knocked out
of his hands. See that's what happens when you get him. You've got to make him and we've seen it. He just punishes him in the playoffs. He holds on the ball, so but when he drops it, you've got to make them pay for their mistakes. You know what I think he's got. He's got unbelievable peripheral vision. Have you ever
looked at his eyes? He's got crazy eyes. He looks like he's manic, right, he sees Here's what Lenahan said, he's never seen a guy with that much pocket presence, eyes down the field, I sensing the rush all that. He really is one of the best feels seen that feel to play. He knows when he knows when you're trying to do something. It's playing chess. He's one move ahead of you. As you're trying to catch up to the game, he's already thinking about, okay, this is my
next one. Because they will run play you watch him on tape. They will run plays. They will full on block for a run play, and he'll throw the ball outside the cop for a game of six and with a running play would have gotten two. It's just that's you know, he will take advantage third down, all of a sudden, you get him in, get him in third and long. All of a sudden, you're trying to get defensive personnel on the field. He'll run him the line and run a play to get twelve guys on the field.
And then now he'll say okay, instead of third and twelve, it's you know, third and seven, which is manageable for him. I have to ask you, guys, so I get everything you're saying. I think yes. Aaron Rodgers, one of the greatest. So without Shaun Lee, who and you know, obviously Tank is great, two sacks ahead of everyone in the league right now. But without Sean Lee, DeMarcus Ores are already doing his thing. Who is the one player on this Cowboys defense who just has to be an absolute rock
star this weekend. I think Hitchens is so important to this game. Shahn doesn't go because he's the veteran linebacker who's we assume he'd be in charge of the calls at the line of scrimmage and kind of playing chess with Rogers. I think his presence in this game is really really important. Which tackled juice you thought would be out? I thought blog of the right tackle would be out.
The right tackles that's Lawrence. That's Lawrence guy. So they'll double him, right, He still got to get somebody on that other side, yea. And they're gonna Irving have a big game. Well, he's gonna be inside either way, you know. Crawford. Crawford's Crawford, I mean, same decided. You know what they've decided over there. They decided over there that they're gonna go with power because they don't have anybody athletic enough to beat those speed gut tackles. That's so you got
to try to power. He's absolutely right, and so can Crawford. You know, he's gonna be playing against a guy that hasn't played in a couple of weeks. Yeah, David Baktiari is not a very strong guy, so power verse power will be good, will be an advantage. But Bactra is a technician, so he'll he knows how to whole trip and clip. It's one of those guys. Yeah, he's a fundamental player. He's a fund He doesn't ever look pretty
the way he plays, but he's successful out there. But him, I would have never believed that he was would have been as successful as he is coming out of Colorado. But he's outstanding, specially the way started off. Yeah, he was that very good, very good. So all that being said, yes, you guys won the poll. Oh we never got back to those fablishing again best friends. Thirty nine percent say Established the Run, seventeen percent actually last keep Rogers in
the pocket. I'm surprised by that pretty close vote this week, and I want to preface my vote there. When I said Established voted for Established the Run, I didn't mean run the ball times, right, I mean be efficient. Don't get all those runs for losses. Yeah, they've had way too many of those. Yeah, so far losses are zero or one. You know, run efficiently, and then that's going to open up the passing game and it will slow down that pass rush. Give Matthew something else to think about.
I think that in running with his hair on fire, flying, flying out the back of his arm on fire again, I think the Cowboys offensively will be fine. I just can you hold up on the back end? Keep them below forty? Can you hold up? Can Rogers? You know what a goal is? That below forty? Well, okay, let's get to our goals, and guys will be watching. We gotta do some rancom mickey, you cannot pick. I don't
get to Marcus Lawrence. No, nope, I've capped myself. And well let me think now, because I was going to take to Marcus. Okay, I told you yesterday. I'll go then eighty eight eighty eight, the Green Bay game gets under his skin. He's got no shields out there, he's got no hide out there. He may be looking at the secondary and saying, yeah, I'll catch me, Yeah, feed me I'm going to catch it. You're not going to question it, and it's going to be big and a
game changer in this game. Throw up the X all day long? Does brand my guy? He had a big game in the playoff game, in the game in twenty fifteen, he was not healthy. Yeah, he was the guy for Dak at the end of that game when Dak was coming back, he knew he could count on Dez in the red zone. I think that Dez is the guy today or on Sunday. Yeah, you know what, I think
it's gonna come down to the secondary. I know on the blueprint, Anthy Hitchins was my guy to look I like what Rob you know, was saying about Anthony Hitchins early. I'm gonna look at Orlando Scandrick in this game because Orlando Scandrick is gonna have to He's gonna have to find a way to play on the outside. There's gonna be some opportunities. Cobb and these and these, Jordy Nelson,
these receivers. I don't think you're gonna get Adams in this football game, but they always seem to come up with some guy that all of a sudden, if you're covering everybody, then the other guy makes plays. But I think you know, they have to find a way to control Randall Cobb in this game. I don't think you can allow Randall Cobb to line up in the slot and have success and have success on the outside, or put him in the backfield, whatever they're gonna do with him.
I think that's gonna be on Orlando Scandrick that the matchup between those two. He has got to be able to play quickness on quickness, he's got to be able to deny the football, and he's got to make some plays and hopefully, hopefully he can get his hands on a football in some tight coverage. I'm gonna go with Hitch, assuming he's active in starting try to limit those big plays they allowed last week. Since I've been prohibited from taking DeMarcus Lawrence, I'll take the guy that's usually right
next to him, MALIEK. Collins, because if they want to worry about doubling and tripling Lawrence like they did last week, Malik, he's got to step up. I'm not saying he's gonna do it. He has to there. He needs to be a presence in this game in the middle because if you can rush Rogers from the middle, then you have a better chance of keeping him in the way. But if you start letting him stand in the pocket and then you over rush from the outside and he gets
to the side of you, you're in trouble. Good night, Irene loves to step up in the middle pocket. You never heard that one before? Vaguely, Yeah, I got you go. Thanks, Come on, Eileen. That there. It is cat style the whole game or the whole show. Yeah, that he just nails one. Music. Music is Ken's thing, narth thing is going to be this game this weekend and pregame show is always two fifteen pm Central Time, Connected TV devices, Facebook, Live, Periscope.
Thank you so much? Yeah do we Yeah? Less smiles smiles yet he should be around the building. We'll go hunt him down. But join us then and stay tuned Monday. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
