The following is a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. This He's Talking Cowboys, Straining live from the Dallas Cowboys World Hours at the Star in Frisco. Here are Mickey Spagnola, Brian Browns, Rob Phillips, and Bill jonesols. As we start this edition of Talking Cowboys. We think we're starting here, are we starting? There's talk? Yeah? I think Bill, they turned your microphone on. I think

Rob and Okay, Hi, Brian brought us on. Mickey Spagnola, Yeah, hello, Hello. Joining us in a moment will be Bill Jones and Rod Philip. You talking a little bit? I didn't say, Rob, didn't I? And did I slur it? Okayis well? You know what, By time your mike gets fixed, it'll be Rob Phillips there it is. Yeah, Yeah, Rob Phillips is back, and I'm on Rob Phillips microphone over here because I've got TV duty that I've got to do here. Hey, it's a victory Monday. You guys coms the microphones. Yeah,

there you go talk to each other here. All good. We are all good, and the Cowboys are all good. A four and old record The last four weeks for the Cowboys ever since they fell to three and five. And I think someone in here harkened back to Dak Prescott's college days at Mississippi State when he in the locker room said something about he's never been three and

five before in his life. And I went back and looked at Mississippi State and he was three and four at one point, and then he ran off twelve straight victories. That's when I predicted this team is going to have a parade in February with twelve straight wins, and they're on their way. Mickey, I don't know that they need twelve for that to happen. Well, they didn't know we

did the math off. You did, because they did. They got the first four and then they got four in December, and I'm gonna assume they're not gonna have a first round buying the playoffs, and that would be four in January ending in Atlanta. If you got the parade, I'm dready I'm debating whether to do Arlington or downtown Dallas.

Get all of North Texas involved, that's right. Yeah, And I as giddy as Jerry was last night, you know what, And and good for him, Good for him that that was a that's a tough team to play, and we all knew that going into that game. And he's made some moves. I mean, you look at what they did to get Cooper and to change the offensive line coach, and and then you know, draft a guy like Jalen Smith too, you know. I mean he's made a lot of moves. And yeah, there were three and five at

one time. But you have to have players to beat that team you beat last night, and they had enough players, and your players were good enough to go toe to toe with them. And I think that's a credit to the front office, to the coaching staff. They had a great game plan. Defensively, they harassed Drew Breese all night. I was really really impressed how they were able to pull that one off. Absolutely, Um who predicted thirteen ten? I just transcribed it transposed, transposed, sorry, r inscribed. I

had thirty thirty one. Yeah, so you were half right. I mean you picked a win, but you thought that you thought they'd have to score thirty plus points like the rest of America. When you get older, you know, you get the lexic and things. I could create new words, Yeah, sure, transcribe and this like this leg No, you get this lexic doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense. Yet I knew exactly what I was talking about because you correctly

so go on young man Um. Back when they made the Amari Cooper trade, I said they did it because the way this defense has been playing the early part of the season, you could argue that's a championship level defense at that point, that hey, they could go in the playoffs in January and win games the way they're holding teams to fifteen, sixteen, seventeen points. And Brian astutely pointed out at that point they still had some tough

offenses to play. Well. Now they've played Atlanta. Absolutely, Now they've played a team averaging thirty seven points a game, right, and you hold them twenty seven points under their average. That's as good as it gets. And Jerry could barely get words out. Yeah. Outside the locker room after the game,

he was shaking. Yeah, he was so excited, and he said, they exceeded my expectations and by far, that's this is the best defense and maybe not statistically that the Saints had played all season, especially judging by that performance DeMarcus Lawrence vander esh Smith, those DB's making plays on the ball. Asked them, Yeah, Jerry asked them to play the super

Bowl level every play. Mickey pointed at out to you the other day before this game started, and you know, he said, hey, you have to go out there and play every play like it's the Super Bowl. And they sure did. The way the early part of that game where they were denying the football, the way they were able to get pressure in the middle with Woods and those guys, you know, the way that you know, hey, they had some bumps along the road, but you play

a team like that, you're gonna have some bump. But they just didn't have a lot of bumps. Yeah. Drew breesens thorn for one hundred and twenty seven yards. He does that in the first two drives of a game. He threw for one twenty against Minnesota. They won that game. And I stopped at two thousand and six trying to find another lower total. And I don't think he finished that start. He only had like forty six yards in some game in OH six. I don't think he set

his feet perfectly until about the second half. The first drive of the second half. That was the fewest total yards they've had since two thousand and two, Yeah, two thousand and two. Yeah, Saints collectively. Yes. Wow, it was just it was just a brilliant game plan and it was so well executed. It really was. And you think about how it could have been even it could have been even better. You know, Randy greg and if you go back, when you guys go back and watch Randy

Gregory wasn't lined up off sides. He really wasn't. And guess what, I'm not trying to get on the fish. Let me just finish on this one and make if I could before you go into the white hat rant. I think that, like I said, that's one of those things where you have to sit there. You know that that is to me watching it is you see worse.

You see far worse than the games. But you know, for the way that they were able to get that the games they ran up front the way and let's be honest that that Saints offensive line only minus their left tackle, that's a that's a team that'd only given up ten eleven sacks, and and and they they looked like a team, you know, Dallas gave up their traditional seven sacks for the game. You know, that kind of thing.

But you said which offensive line looked the far worse in this game, You'd probably have to say the Saints offensive line look where even though Dallas got seven sacks against them, But that was that was prepressive. That really really you if you want to, if you want to go out and beat people and get recognition and talk about being a top flight defense, go out and beat some team like that offensively, beat them up and you get recognition around this league. We're ready for the white

hat rant, white hat rant. He's right on the neutral zone and this is white hat rant music for this. Guess what what the flag? I'm looking at the replay. The flag doesn't come out until the forced fumble. That's when he threw the flag. I thought it was It was funny because it was thrown from the Dallas sideline. Yes, and that was it was number sixty eight, by the way, and cursing him right now row yeah yeah, yeah, okay, okay,

you can see it. He dropped some serious bombs, the f bomb on him and he was walking right by. Yeah yeah. And the flag did not come If you're in the neutral zone, as soon as the ball snap, you throw your flag, right. You don't wait till the balls bouncing around on the field. What's the guy thinking about? Yeah,

what's he looking at? He wasn't offsides, he was not, No, because the way if you look at the ball is on the hash and and the center Unger's got the ball in the hash and Randy's hand is on the other side of the line. So there was a blue line there. Yeah, the ball was on the saint side of the blue line. Absolutely, his hand was on the boy side of the blue line. So there was a middle there. Yeah, there was there was room. And I've

seen what was neutral. I've seen far worse. But why why does it like it was a delayed reaction of throwing the flag as soon as the ball snap throw it? Let me ask you, guys, this was this another one of those games where Dallas really kicked their ass and then the scoreboard didn't show them kicking their asses. You know, if if Dak were on Internet radio, so I guess I could say that, yes you can. If Dak Press got hit Michael Gallop deep down the right sideline, Yeah,

he's over three hundred yards in the game. Probably, it's probably got about a one fifty QB rating for the game. And yeah, the score is looking even at its twenty to ten, twenty to ten, but how many other times another one you make a trip down there in the red zone and have to kick a field goal. You know that that's getting old. I mean, they won the game, but my gosh, that's getting old. I mean just think if you, if you could, you could help this defense

even more with some of that stuff. If time and nine trips inside the ten. That was what was funny about the first half, I thought was you talked about they had to play nearly perfect football, right, you think

about what they did in that first half. They held the ball for over twenty minutes out of thirty, grind out the clock, you're stopping them defensively, great drive off your own goal line, and two field goals, perfect field goals by your kicker were really the only blemishes of the half because you kept thinking they can't they can't get away with this, and it's gonna come back to get them in the second half. Yeah, and you're sitting there looking at it, going okay, it's ten nothing, and

you make one mistake, it's ten to seven. That's all game on r That's what start Joe Bucks said at halftime. You know. Yeah, and then they and then they ended up be snarky you know this that he gives you that smuggy I'm Joe fuck, you know, and then they end up and you don't know, they end up holding the ball for thirty seven minutes in the game to thirty seven minutes. Yeah, yeah, that's that's what the Saints are supposed to do. That was the plan though, right.

I mean, you want to score, you want to score, touch, finish drive, but you want to keep them off the fields. Yeah, yeah, great, I mean I just I just can't get over how in f they made the Saints look. Yes, and that's pressure, that's that's that's knocking you. You talk about what's what's the written? You gotta knock Drew Breese around, and then Mickey comes at you with they're giving up ten sacks. This here, Brian, you know you want to say, that's

what's your key to the game. You gotta knock Drew Brees around. Okay, they've got up with ten sacks. How are you gonna do that? Yeah? But they did, Yeah they did. They got after Drew Brees when they made him. Will McClay and the scouting staff too, some of those guys that the Cowboys have in there on that defensive line, the human log you know, and Collins he is there. Yeah, they were. They affected the middle of the pocket, got

in yeahs to five eleven. Quarterback Micky's play a quarterback. Yeah, I've got to go do TV Vicky Nicky to tell no one came by and wait the flowering Scott Purcell. He did Hi sign be great Bill as always, Mickey interviewed Jason Garrett after the game last night. So what you have to do? I have to go. We got to cover for you. Now. We spent our whole career covering for that man. When you're talking at no one covered for me ever, Yeah, no one ever, no one ever. Whatever.

Bill is about to go do it and they do it. They couldn't cover me on the field. Well, I'll be back in here, okay, I'll just be doing I take something for about twenty minutes. I do appreciate that, though, I'm expecting as long as I can knock it out with one take on everything, of course you're gonna knock it out. I know. Mickey did the hard work, all right. It was easy after a win like that, right, Thank goodness, yeah, and you got your ref rant and already like we're

rolling along here, we're in good shape. We get you one more. No, No, it's okay. We won this game. This game, they didn't call on that Dak. When I talked to him after the game, I think I told you this last night is Jim Strap was on his nose. Guess what the guy reached in so far? He said, lip was bleeding. Yeah, boy, Dak was a bloody mess hand elbow. He had all kinds of step going on. Man cut his non throwing hand. He also had a

scab come off his elbow. He said he was whea was on his none of his elbow was completely covered in blood. His his white sleeves on. And I think it was on one of those runs he had, by the way, with a couple of guts he runs he made. He made three guys miss in the open field. We want to be a linebacker too, dragged a guy three yards from first down. Zeke did a lot of that too last night. I want to find your your next gen stats yards after contact for Zeke because I mean

he was carrying guys with him. Yeah, I think on full displolling call killed us up. I keep saying us, it's them, They're they're playing well. But that the holding call on Looney that wiped out a first down right there. It was a tough run to you know, and it set them back and all that. So, yeah, that's part of it. That's that's tough right there, man, when you get you know that they couldn't afford that, even though

they overcame it. You know, they get a first down and then they get called Looney gets Is that the one that they said? It was Collins and yeah, yeah, get it right, Yeah, committed he did. But when I watched Collins, I going, are you serious? Yeah, Collins didn't get his block at all. He was trying to get the guy from behind. Yeah I was. I'll tell you another one, white hand rant, uh that the non passenger

ference calling. If you go back and watch the tape, the field judge is reaching for his flag and he can't get it out of his belt. Which one is that? Yeah, the touchdown, the field judge is literally going for his flag. He's running sideways, going flag, flag, flag, he can't reach it, and then he by by the time the ball is caught, then the other officials signaling touchdown and he just mosey's on through the play, Kirkwood, because he gave a little,

he gave a show, gave the fuel. Judge. The guy in the middle of the field was going to call. I think that's the fuel judge, back judge, he's gonna make the call. You can clearly see him on tape reaching for his flag and then he doesn't throw the flag because he can't get it out of his belt. A nudge Dave in the press boxes, and I think he got away with one there. Even even Ferrera said, yeah, you gotta call that. Yeah, yeah, Well I'll tell you what,

Like I say, one more thing, Brob. I know Sean Payton now coached himself last night so well with the challenges and stuff like that, like yeah, early challenges, and he didn't leave him with the Beasley thing. Was clearly two yards short Beasley on the third down catch. At the end of the game, he had no challenges left. He was clearly short on that play, you know. And if he'd have challenged that, then he would have forced Jason Garrett to have to make a fourth and one call,

which I think you'd probably gone forth there. But he was But that was a that was a key point. That was a first down. The Saints had no challenges, the fact he went for it on fourth down on his own goal on the on the Dallas, you know. And tremendous plays by those guys up from Jalen Smith though, and I've talked about him earlier. Jalen Smith tackle on Kamara to keep him out of the end zone. Huge play.

I mean, it's it's stirred down and it's like Kamara is like Byron Jones misses him and here's here's Jalen Smith comes flying from the middle of the field. He tackles Kamara to keep him from the going. Now it sets the fourth in two and lombhole. What do they do? They stop him? Then on fourth and one, fourth one Kamara stopped. Crawford is there and I think Lawrence again, Lawrence coming across the Collins, Oh, Vander esh Collins, Smith, Crawford.

They all played square and I'm guessing everybody was a plotting Seawan for going forward instead of kicking a field goal and you lost by three. Great job two by Lawrence coming from the back side. They didn't block him. They had like a stunt on and it was a great. That was a great play because even if Breeze would have pulled the ball, you had Xavier Woods over the top in case it was going to be one of those those read option bits. So good job, good defense

understanding what the Saints potentially we're gonna do. So going back to that Beasley deal, I'm trying to replay it in my head. He runs the in and out round. Yeah, almost, and he almost down and he dove for the first down. His knee was Did somebody hit him though? Yeah, because I didn't think he got tackled. He was dying. He was. He was the reason why the official gave him the favorable spot, just because he dove and lunged the ball forward.

If he just kind of falls down, it's gonna be probably a yard short, but his knee, he gets tackled where his right knee hits and then he's he's going forward. But it was it was a good yard and a half two yards short. I thought, you know on the goal line stand that we just talked about second quarter,

keeping the Saints out of the end zone. Dak was asked about it after the game and he said, you know, it's one of those plays where you feel like, all right, we got this, and not that the game's over at that point, but the way our defense is playing tonight, the way we're playing tonight, the juice we've got, we're not gonna be denied tonight. And that was kind of

a that was a signature playing the game. Great job of Dak and then getting off the goal line though, Jeff's, uh my guy, Blake Jarwin, Blake Jarwin and he doesn't catch anything because it's third down, right, yeah, it's like yeah, and they flipped the ball to him in the flat and he and he's presence of mind to catch it, turned up field, get the first down. I mean, those are the kinds of play we were we were trying to say, Okay, you know, our guy man of the match,

picked the click. Whatever you want to talk about. It was. You could talk about forty six guys. Everybody had a turn at the bat yesterday. Do you know there's guys that hadn't had really they gone six weeks without doing something, and all of a sudden they make a play and you're like, went, ah, that's that guy. That's Blake Jarwin. Catch the ball, get up field, get a first down.

You know, yeah, Joe Looney on the on the Dak scramble on third down, the third and eleven, you know that the that they're able to convert, Joe Looney gets a great block to give Dack the opportunity to go. You know, those are things you just talk about again. Have about credit to the offensive line. They're playing with three backups, Rob. I think you said this in the pregame show. I think you said this, backup center, backup, left guard, backup left tackle. You know, think about that,

and they gave up seven sacks. Yeah, but and the quarterback. When you guys go back and watch it, the quarterbacks, he's got to do a little bit better job of anticipating some stuff. Now, not all of them are on the quarterback, but he heard them. A couple It was hard to tell from the press box, but yeah, I kind of felt like a couple of them. It's like you gotta gotta feel your wait, watch WAITCHI watch and see and you'll say, oh gosh. But there were seven

of them. Five of them were you know, bad ones. Two of them probably on the quarterback. But you know, the poise the Dack showed. Andy and Mickey pointed us out bloody mess out there playing yea walk into the car last night from the press box. Uh, he had four inn completions, yeah, twenty, shame on him, and one of him was one of him was down the right sideline. They were trying to throw the bomb. Then gall the

gall It missed on two deep balls. Remember the one they wanted threw out a bounce, yeah, and then the other one. I just thought Gallbert could have made a more aggressive try for the ball. You know what happened, though, Mickey, when you watch it, you're gonna see he wants to throw the ball in the double move to Cooper on

the other side. And then he came to me and he came back and it was and by the time he got back he probably wasn't sure how far he threw the ball more in a line, he threw it more on a He said, I should have put more yeah, and and but he his eyes came back late over there. He wanted to hit he now, by hey, speaking of Amari Cooper, all eight of his receptions were against that their best corner. Now think about more. Think about that.

And we were all worried. Brian brought excuse me, was worried about you know, pregame, he's saying, well, if they travel out of more, this could be difficult for him. I don't see it being nah. Eight catches and it was almost on the other side. Early it was like where's Eli Apple? Yeah, oh no, you know they were looking for him. This that's good. That's good football, right, And this is another indication that when you see a

trade made, Yeah, don't just think of a name. There's a reason why the Giants got rid of that guy. Ye beat him in week He's not that good. Okay, I've got rid of him. He's been pretty good for them. And Amari Cooper, he was traded here was pain in the ass for the Giants. They've been happy with his production overall since said that we got a Marie Cooper. Yeah. I mean there's a reason he was available, and he's

been pretty darn good for this team. Right. Well, I don't think he was a pain in the Raiders side. The head coaches, head catch just didn't like them. Yeah, that's that's for some reason. This is two games in a row with eight eight eight receptions, right, But they were all against that's the thing. It was all against their best corner and so now is a tremendous corner. So now all of a sudden you're sitting there going, Okay,

whoever they put on him, he can get open. Don't don't think that Amari Cooper can't get open it make plays because he can and and and the ball he lost, that's the weirdest fumble I've ever seen. The guys me knocks it out. He's holding in his hand. Way caught it, yeah, way a way. Eight targets for Amari Cooper, eight catches seventy five yards. That's Michael Thomas like numbers right there, that is that is and the leading receiver for New

Orleans Kamara eight catches for thirty six yards. Just tremendous John runs. Did he have eleven for thirty seventy two total yards? Long of seven? Yeah, you would trade that all day. You told me Alvin Kamar is only gonna get seventy two. He gets seventy two yards on one play. Yeah. I broke down a play of the pregame show where Breeze put him out wide. They threw it on on the safety from the Jenkins from safety from the Eagles. It went for a huge play. Kamara and Zeke each

had three point three yards of carrying. It was tough sledding for Zeke at some points in the game, and they kind of limped off at one point. He's banged up right now. Yeah, but he I mean he has dirty yards in that game as well. Though. Let's be honest. This this barbaric way that the NFL makes the Cowboys play these three games. You know, it's tough. It's tough. I mean it's tough on the running back. He Zeke never missed his practice. You know, he takes all his reps.

You know, he goes in and people say, oh, he looks slow, he looks you know, No, he's he's physically this man is beat up, you know. But he'll get stronger. We'll get him in December and he'll be you know, he'll get stronger for you. They've got a mini buy coming up. They get three wins in eleven days. And by the way, Zeke had one hundred and thirty six total yards and a touchdown in the game. Not bad

at all. His numbers over seven hundred now for that for the what was it for the three games stretch? I'm sorry making somebody do some math here. I don't know enough the top of Yeah, if you think of total yards for that three game stretch, it's gets looking at that. Think that if I remember correctly, he was at like three eighty or three ninety, yeah there for the three games. That's so he's he's close to four fifty like that. And a lot of what he did

was pushing the pile. Yeah, they couldn't knock him back. He was, he was, he was knocking him four backups and yeah, and he was, and he was doing his thing where he finds a way to kind of slither for an extra yard or two. You know, he's even slipping down, he kind of which, by the way, I think that's run its course. It needs to be two backups now, two backups. Yeah, Okay, Connor Williams needs to

get back at left. All right, Well, let's discuss that when we come back, and let's continue breaking down this. You know, it's tremendous victory for the Cowboys thirteen to ten over the Saints. We'll talk offensive line, we'll continue talking that defense, yeah, I know, and we'll take calls eight seven, sacks five two two nine seven Next has been helping Cowboys fans seat better since nineteen seventy two. He said, they don't miss a moment on the field.

Cowboys Win Magazine presents Cowboys Win thirteen to ten. I don't think anybody saw that coming. We had some victories predicted on this show. I was not one of them. Although I said they would bring it, and they did. The defense really brought it. You mentioned

Jordan Lewis did coming out of the break. That's a guy that has not played a lot of football defensively for this team. He's been on offense a little bit too. Um more dime in this game, big play late. Yeah, he still didn't play a lot of football. You know how many plays he was in for eight really felt like a lot more than that. He could have made the most of his eight play. He could have had

two interceptions in that game. If you think about it, remember early in the first series, Breeze just kind of flips the ball out there and Kamar's not really looking for that. Ball's got a little bit more pace on it. Yeah, it's gonna be an interception if it's high enough that you might have a pick six at an interception, a tackle, and a pass broke up. Yeah, so three for eight,

not bad, three winning plays. See that's what that's what we're talking about earlier, you know, guys like you know you guys, Blake Charwin, Jordan Lewis, you know, read at defensive tackle. Yeah. No, one's happy to see the ky. He probably just sold out. Yeah, yeah, sold out. Did they have a postgame show after? Oh yeah, oh yeah they did calmed down or not at all? Not at all? See what was not at all good for him? So

so yeah, let's remember, let's go back. Remember everybody wanted to trade Jordan Lewis number one, and a lot of people were all over Blake Jarwin. These guys are young, they hadn't played a lot of football in the National Football League, and you can't start just okay, this guy's no good. I'm interested now to hear your opinion of Randy Gregory. I still think he put a lot of pressure on Drew Breeze. Yeah, and if you go back and look at the thing he was getting held when

he hit the face mask. No, no, I'm talking about on the punt team. What's he doing out there on the punt team? Punt safe? Punt safe. You're just wasn't safe. It's like a it's like a take a playoff. Make sure they don't fake it. I think Randy was just Randy kind of get caught up in the moment and got a good rush and you know, because he breezed right by the guy. He did. And the problem with

that is though, that's the last thing. That was the drive where they had two penalties on Byron Jones, which were legitimate, and then you had that you know that right there, that's just killing. When it happens, you're thinking, is this going to be the play we talked about? My gosh Friday morning, Yeah, I was. I was sitting there and as it happened, you know, I saw just watching at the Star here, I saw the four. I thought it was Lance Lenore. I mean literally I lost

my mind because that happened in Atlanta. Oh yeah, yeah, just just just a specialty. I thought Lancelinoor for some reason came flying off the edge and was trying to block a punt on a punt safe and I I you thought that Rod Marinelli was cussing. You should have heard me and Nate and they found out it was Randy and I'm like so, and you're thinking, god's a punt safe. You're not even supposed to rush, You're supposed to just make sure they don't fake it on you.

Did you see what the camera caught Keith O'Quinn pointing in his head, you know what I was kind of thinking it was pointing to Keith o quinn, like, why do you have him out there? You know? That's a good question, Yeah, because I don't remember seeing him out there like that. Yeah, but it's that's coming off the corner. Defensive stay is what they call that. Just they hold their hands up say defensive stay. They make sure that the balls being punted and you're into the field don't

do anything stupid. And Randy just I'm just trying to I'm trying to help him here, but I can't help him because that's the one thing that we were talking about leading up to this game. You gotta play smart. Sure he played the Saints, you gotta play smart. And that just was so after what they had been through to get you know, to get a stop, you know, and and you're gonna get the ball back and to give them another opportunity was just it was just it

was just I don't know the correct words. More Stead's Uh, it could have been really deflating. It could have and they scored off that play. Yeah, so yeah, you thought it could have chat helped him get their touchdown. More Stead's applying for a double time because he had to punk four times time and a half. No, Yeah, he's gone. He's gone, like three games. We had twenty four punts in eleven games. It's basically to a game earning that pitch. O. Yeah,

he had to work. Let's let's hit the phone lines, fellas. Where are we going Josh in Florida, Europe? First on talking cowboys. How's it going, guys? Josh, were driving a truck? Somebody cuts you off? Josh, No, no, no, I'm actually park Okay, good all this stuff. First, I want to say it's an honor talking to all of you guys. Thank you, the gurus of football and all this stuff on. Um after all good things. UM. I honestly think that Dak Prescott has been way more efficient, uh in these

last couple of games. I mean yeah, from what it seems if you were like a normal fan watching the game, like some of the plays that he's missed, like oh man, Jack Prescot's not doing it very well, but when you look at the stats, it's twenty four twenty eight. I believe that. Yah. So I was wondering if if any of you guys can like break down like all of those missus because I think some of those missus weren't on him at all. And going to the defensive side.

You guys were already talking about or Randy Gregory, like those two penalties were crucial, But I had this feeling i throughout the game that Randy Gregory was elite um in a way. You know, he was getting to the quarterback just the way he just gets off his breaks, It's like phenomenal. So I was wondering if you guys can talk about those two subjects and they I know you guys already hit on them already, but I was just trying to figure out, like, um, what's the reason

of Dak Prescott being more efficient? Because I understand the old line, but as you said before, he has a backup center, backup left guard, and a backup left left tockle, So what other things is it? Scheme wise? Or you guys to sit up on that. That'll be great. Okay, thanks for the Colt. So in the previous three games that they won, he had completed seventy percent of his passes and then he goes out there and hits at eighty five percent. Yeah, eight almost well, actually eight eighty

six percent. Yep. So Mark Cooper helps what what did what did you say? Eight targets, eight catches perfect? Yep. But Mickey, I'll give you credit to and Rob will give you credit to. Young man from Colorado State had five receptions for seventy six. I know, a loong of forty. But he made some really good plays as well. You guys have asked for him to play, and I think what's happening with him is Amari Cooper's finding ways to

get open, Michael Gallup's finding ways to get open. Dak Prescott is you know when he it's when the throws are in front of him and he's able to make him he can make those throws, and you know, I think that's been a big, big part. He's he's really focused. In the misses he had. We talked about him earlier.

Two of them were deep balls. I'm trying to think of the other two misses that he had that threw a couple away right, yeah, And I'm trying to think of there was a one when he was under pressure and just try to you know, I just again, when you only have four misses, you should be able to come up with all four. But I know two of them were down the field, and one of them was an over overthrow of Gallop that could have been, like you said, Rob could have put him over three hundred

and could have really put this game away. So he missed Beasley on that first drive. It was first intended that he had pressure on any pressure, right, and he bounced it to him right, yeah, Yeah, And you know you see the gallop play forty yards early. You know he's done this before. He kind of gets he kind of sets the tone offensively with a big play the young receiver and just getting off press coverage, free release, and the guy couldn't Eli couldn't stay with him. Yeah,

and then the double move, the double move waits. You see the double move that he put on Apple, Apple completely broke down. You know that's why. And you know gallop and you're figuring a young guy. But I just I'm so impressed by the way that these receivers and you know, Cole Beasley, you know he Cole Beasley had another one of those games where it wasn't huge numbers, but he had two receptions and he had in his long was for five yards and the five yard play

he had was a killer for the Saints. That was the third down and that he converted. Ye, you know, and if Cole Beasley, I'm sure he wants bigger, better numbers and he had bigger, better numbers before they had Michael Gallopy excuse before they had a Maury Cooper here. But as I think, as long as you're winning football games,

you know, he has to be happy about that. That was third and five from the fifty five fifty four left in the game, and now you're starting to chew the clock, and then with about three and two minutes later, the Saints start using their time out. Yeah, exactly, see, that's that's the thing of bad. They had no challenge there, so he gets the first down and now you're really is you know, those are gut those are gut plays right there. You look, you know those Saints were three

of eleven on third down. That's unheard of for them. And you're you're at fifty percent again, Mickey, right, you were telling me if the last three victories here, it's been damn near what forty eight fifty percent? Yeah, I mean, if you click along at fifty percent, you're gonna win some games. The problem though, right now, they need to finish some of these damn drives, you know, like the first drive of the game. You know, they need to finish that. Can't get down there inside the five and

jack around and not get points that way. I want to say. I want to say, at one point I thought they were talking about he had completed like he holds the record now he's the all time team seventeen. Yeah, he's he holds the Cowboy record now for seventeen consecutive completed passes. And you have Hall of famers, Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, you had Tony I mean, he had great players play here, seventeen in a row for Dak Prescott. He's one of those guys that just he's a gamer.

You tell him he can't do this and do that, and just kind of keeps grinding away. And that's kind of what this team has done. He's he's deficient in some areas, but some of the areas that he's deficient, he makes up, which is just being a badass when it comes to trying to get first downs, trying to compete. Tremendous efforts, tremendous effort. He's not perfect mechanically, his feet or bad, his body's positions bad at times. But when things break down, and you know, he'll admit it that

the sacks. He's got to do better. But the line has to do better too, you know, before we go to the receivers have to do Yeah, Mickey, I think you did. You hint it this before the first break um sue Philo and just how the line played. It is a patchwork line. Fleming starts for Tyring again. Tyrn did not play because of the stinger. Yeah, they figured out how to get Williams in the game. Hey yeah he did all right too. The play was in there. Yeah yeah, but tidy to get him back in there. Well,

so Philo was compromised. We follow up on that, caw No, I'm just asking because I'm interested in what you're saying. If if you know the coach is going to make a change when you're winning, when you're winning, and and we go back to the they didn't change Tony Romo out when Dak Prescott was winning games. And you know, I'm just saying sometimes not sometimes Brian coaches tend to go with what they know and they think, you know what, we're moving the ball. The sacks are alarming, but we're

overcoming the sacks. You know. I don't disagree with Mickey, but I think that coaches tend to say, I am not gonna f this up because we're winning. So yeah, we're two and oh. Without Tyrn Smith in there, you're gonna leave camp. You know what. That's a fair argument. That's a very fair point. But but too But I'm just saying I'm trying to agree with you, Mickey, I know, but I'm trying to think that coaches tend to say that.

I know, and you're right, Yeah, like it is. Are the are the of the of the sixty five plays they run and Sue Philo is bad on five of them? Is that killing you? And I don't. I don't think physically he was right. He played and he fought, but that ankle, he just I don't think he moved as well in this game as he has. Well, maybe it's

time to let that ankle get healed. He's got ten days and Tyrone's got ten days, so we'll see what they look like against the Eagles on they want two one two without him when they went over in three last year. Yeah, that's that's what I that's see. This is what they're smarter, right, Yes, this is where it looks. This is where it looks better for the Cowboys because and and I've been critical of them, and like, know your team. You know last year they didn't have good

enough backups. What do they do? They went out and they went out and got a tackle that had actually played in the Super Bowl started in the Super Bowl. You know. So, Camp, Hey, Camp, let's be honest. He does doesn't look good all the time. He's scary, to be honest with you. Somebody told me in training camp, they said, don't judge him by how it looks. Yeah, judge how his production is right, because somehow he gets it done. Because the guy can barely walk. I swear, no,

he does it. It's it's hard to watch him move. I'll tell you what, though, he did a gun that's done. The zeke waits. You see the zeke screen. They went for the touchdown. They set it up so nice. They even got flaming out like they faked like they were going to run the screen to Beasley going left and they you know, and they dummied it and got everybody. He got Zach on the edge. Yeah, pancake block from Looney, right, Joe Looney on the crack back. Yeah, not bad Bill Jones.

But let me just throw this. There's Bill Jude trying to get the building. His face is pressed against the window eighty six. He was kind of in Fleming's hip pocket the most of the game. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, and that's adjustments right. It was almost like the howdy doody thing Edgar Bergen when sitting on his lady right there with you. Right. Oh, there's Bill Jones pay Shiley waiting to get back yelping. Yeah, let's get back in. Let's get him back on the ice. Next, I'll talking cowboys.

at Berkeley. Yeah, it's the it's the Yes, Cowan stand the Big Game for postponed it because of the fires out there a couple of weeks ago. So what created them playing for an axe? The trees? I think because they want to chop down Stanford or what their trees? Yeah, the trees are the tree. Yeah, that's their bears and trees. Yeah, great logo, by the way, excellent. Well, thank god, k I thought they should play for the You know there are bears, right, Stanford and cow should play for the Tubus,

shouldn't they? Because the Bears out of the man. That was one of the great all time games. It was love a call. You want to take a phone call and then you take us home. Okay, how about that sounds good? You got a phone call Michael in South Carolina. You're up next on Talking Cowboys. How's it going, guys? What games? Thank you? I was noticing you were talking about the incompletions of Dak Had and I've been critical of him, um, probably too critical just because he's such

a young player, but he's definitely a gamer. Um. I noticed on the Beasley in completion, it looked like Beasley was late getting off the line and that probably threw off the timing of the past and maybe gard Us canna look at that and we'll see that on me up. Yeah, but it said just looked like he was like, you know, a split second, he was looking through the sideline and then when he looked back inside, I think he got held is I remember? Yeah, I know there was there

was pressure. There was pressure there too at a late start. Yeah yeah, okay, game man, the defense is out of their minds. I love it. Yeah, very good. You know what else was going on? They were holding Zeke trying to go out for passes. They were they were grabbing them, and Drew Brees had the nerve to say, well, they were holding every play. Well that's football, it's here. Yeah, I read it. Drew Brees said they were holding. Yeah, the dbs, he said, yeah, it's happening in every play.

Maybe Drew needs to move around a little bit better in the pocket. Yeah, not throw the ball just out there in the flat, you know, and just think something good's gonna happen, or throw side arm. Yeah. I love Drew Brees, but come on, man, like a little kid, take your ball, go home. Yeah, you know, don't beat that guy. Gave him credit for a big win. But yeah, there were miscalls on both sides. It happens. He said they were holding every chance they got good for them.

And then he said they have some good dbs. Yeah, and he got his shot in there. Yeah, very clever. You know what his his his You know what, they brag so much. This is the first time in NFL history that four undrafted guys catch touchdown. They showed like they had four undrafted guys out there playing last night. That's what it looked like. Yeah, and when you're when your war daddy's not catching the football consistently, those four undrafted guys look like four undrafted guys. You know that.

That's a lesson for you right there. What you got the newspaper? You know some headlines? What is that you're holding your hand? Yeah, not very many people. This is a newspaper, Okay, get into a newspaper. These are the headlines this morning. And the Star Telegram, which maybe I should I'll go ahead and say, we stopped our subscription a while back, but all of us Clarence was hating you right now all of a sudden, Well yeah, he hates me for other reasons right now, that long horn

good point. But anyway, all of a sudden, we started receiving the Star Telegram on our doorstep. We walk it just showed up that store, took it from the guy with the blue Christmas lights. Statement made That was a Clarence Hill question. Whenn't yesterday did he ask dad? Statement dot made dot. It's not a period. It's a dot these days of us. All right, An, here's the morning news headline takes. That's pretty gad. They could have done better than that. That's pretty good, man, that's old news.

It's you've been used before. Okay, all right, Kevin Sherrington's perfect goal now couldn't be more clear. Super Bowl, they're called tournament. He's supposed to be covering, and he still wants to coach fired. All right. I'm driving home last night. Okay, I had to do this. I had to do the show at the CBS eleven studio due to NFL rules that don't allow us local TV people to be live while the game's still going on at ten twenty. Anyway, that's beside the point. So but he got it in there.

When I'm leaving the studio, one of the production crew guys, Marcus Smith, says to me, well, I'm gonna listen to the talk shows on the way home. This ought to be fun to listen to. I said, no, they're gonna find something to complain about. Yeah, sure enough. I turn on one station and the first thing they're they're complaining to Jesse Holley. I don't know if Jesse complain on you now. And then I flipped to another one and they're complaining, and so what I went to music. You

know what, who knows what they were complained? I mean, what can you find it? They were complaining about not scoring enough points. Oh my gosh, Yeah, they scored enough. That's key. They need to sure, they need to score more than thirty. Yeah, if you want to, if you want to, if you want to, Nick pick this thing. This is another one of those games. I believe that they kicked the other team's ass and the scoreboard didn't show that. It was the other one year it was

at the Philadelphia, Yes, Philadelphia. They kicked Philadelphia's ass and it didn't show on the scoreboard. What people don't understand is these games in the NFL are hard to win, trust, And they think they kicked that ninety two and ninety three Cowboy team that won the championships won everything forty to ten and it was not easy. And that's why I said the other day, and I don't know if I said it here. I said it on the pregame show.

When you get in a game like this with New Orleans, there was a game I want to say it was either I think it was in ninety one maybe, and North Turner and I are walking down the breezeway at the ranch and he says, there's ways to win games like this, right, you just got to figure it out, right, and it may not be pretty, but you can win. Ye, And that's what this game was. The kind of figured it out. If they were able to hold him under thirty,

they had a chance. That's just if you felt I felt like, if they could hold him in under thirty, I score had was twenty twenty four or something like that, but but I felt like that that's the only way that Dallas could have won this game. And I'll tell you what. Their defense got my attention. Their defense got my attention. The pressure. I was more impressed with the pressure that they were able to put on that Saint's offensive line. And you could see when you're able to

put that kind of pressure on an offense. Yeah, it just Yeah, Drew Brees wanted no part of and in there and throwing the football. He was he was on his scooter going backwards. He didn't look comfortable in the pocket now the opening drive of the second half, and he admitted they just were never in rhythm. Yeah, but The reason they weren't in rhythm had everything to do with the Cowboys were doing on defense. Chris Rashard. Rod Marinelli, by the way, you enjoy Chris Richard while you got

him here. Yeah, you know, you know it's something too about that with christ And this is where you got to appreciate Rod Marinelli even more, the fact that he put his ego aside and let Chris Rashard come in here. You talk about a guy, it's a team You want to be a team player, Go be Rod Marinelli. You know these defensive corners that usually you get them, they're like, I'm not you kidding. They bring a guy, No, I'm

not you know, I'm not helping that. Well, you know, he put his ego aside for the betterment of that defense and they work together and come up with plans and ideas. You know, tip of the cap to him for being the team player he is. And and it's it's not that that it minimizes what Rod Marinelli's him. Now, what's going on on that defense? He know you saw together, Yeah, you saw it. Rod Marinelli's ideas. He got those guys, sick them, go after that guy. You know, that was

his that was his game plan. He told Christopher Shard. You know, it's kind of like it was. What's the movie the one with Boon the coach, and uh, I remember the time, Remember the time. Yeah, you worry about your you know, you worry about your defense. You know, I'll worry about this offense kind of thing. I mean, that's that's you know, that's what these guys. They have a lot of pride and they do. You know what. The good thing about him too is I've been noticing

he doesn't go out of his way to get attention. Oh, Christmas Shard, Noah, he'll answer your questions though, when you standing on ya, he'll answer your questions very very nice. He won't. He walked out of the locker room, and he walked out by himself and and left. He's not I mean, it doesn't look like he's a self promoter who knows what he does behind the scenes. But you're exactly, it all seems very genuine. You and you hear the players in training camp. You heard the player he was

talking about. Um, he's a he's a motivational guy as well. The only game they've really been bad this year has been the Tennessee one, right, that's the only game twenty points in the eleven of fourteen on third down. Ever since that game, they have shut people down. In the Seattle game, they had the couple busted coverage. Yeah they played well, Yeah, they had the coverages. Dolphins didn't help

there either. And you've got a young guy who just keeps getting better week to week, and you got guys around him howling at the moon with him. You know, I mean, let Benderesh has brought some major juice to this thing. And well, how about Anthony Brown the way he played last night too. A lot of young guys knocking the ball down, you know, that's that's you gotta have that playing defense. And again that's not by accident.

That's Chris Rochard and those guys coaching those kids up and there, and those kids believing in the coaches and keeping them like a guy like Jordan Lewis. Okay, here's a guy who was kept him on ice for ten weeks and he was starting here last year. Okay. And then you moved Byron Jones to cornerback, and credit Chris Richard seeing that what he had in Byron Jones and

that would be his best position. And also keeping those guys invested because Jordan Lewis, as we all know his personality, is that it's the type that that might be a challenge. I'm sure that he's going to stay right on board and it pays off in a game like last night, only eight snaps on defense and yeah, it was David Irving. Lie, that's what I'm saying. David Irving like right there, Yeah, if you could believe the only eight snaps, if you can playing fifty percent of the times you're out there,

that's pretty darn good. And you know what I was told, kind of reinvigorated him because he was kind of left out right the offensive. Put him on the offense, he felt like, okay, part of this he bought him do something he bought in which kept him engaged to play defense. And so whoever, whether it was Jason Garrett or Lenna whoever's idea was that he might be a guy who could do the jet sweep type stuff, there is the

extra benefit of that. Yeah, that's that's a part of coaching, right there, is keep those guys invested because you know there's gonna be situations arise even without injuries. In the secondary, there was a situation that arose against this Saints team where Jordan Lewis and even if it was just eight snaps, he was the matchup that they wanted on Alvin Kamaro. Yeah, now that's why you don't trade the guy. It's right, you can never have enough cornerbacks, right. Absolutely, it's a

good player. I mean he's you know, that's something you have to kind of keep an eye on right there, keep you know, it's good players and let them go. And really he's mentioned offense that interception was to me, it was and I asked Hi about it afterwards. This is a high school wide receiver, the awareness, the presence of mind to keep that thing off the ground scraping his knuckles against the turf. Basically, I mean that was a big time play. No one believed if they had

to re replay it. Well, they replay every turnover, don't they. Yeah, I guess they have to, Yes, they do, because guys in the white hats keeps coming back. Now, are you gonna leave us for the NFL front office officiating? Which I could what. I would love to go out to law school just some mickey head of the officials, and me just asked him a bunch of questions. You know what, and I would be honest. Okay, Chicago, guy, Chicago's really

an honest city. We know all about that. That's why I voted four times in the mid term election, exactly sixty. We know what that's all about. Yeah, but they got it right. So I have made sure then getting elected president. How y'all spending your weekend? This is the mini buy week? How about those championship weekend? We got hip game out

here at the Christmas Tree. Doesn't get up on Saturday and ain't getting up buying one of them little tabletop things they sell in front of the groceries, Charlie Brown Tree, Yes, exactly, Charlie Brown. What about you? You gotta work. I am not working, but I will be at at and T Stadium and am Actually I'll be there about nine am tomorrow. I love going down on the field before the game and checking out who the NFL draft prospects are now. Cuskowski down talking to the scout last year. The last

year before the OUTCU game. I went down there and I looked at the OU players, I looked at the TCU players. I said, TCU has got no chance. Wouldn't let me tell you this Bill. If you can do that for me, we'll have you on the Draft show. Here comes up in January. Is Derek's waiting outside. He's got the Furt orange on, sort of like we sized up the high school players when we did that semi semi friend game. That's when Dwin Mickey quarterbacks a little

taller than me. You turned out all right, but he still right. See you later. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
