Start with the good news, off, buddy. The good news is that Marveion over shown. I pegged him as a seventy percent guy to play on Monday Night against the Houston Texans. The Cowboys didn't have an injury report yesterday because they have Monday night football, so the first official injury report will be today on Thursday. But De Marveian was practicing yesterday. He was in full pads and helmet during the open portion of media, and I spoke with a couple of guys who said he did practice.
So de ma, bro, what's he what's he listed at? Heightwise? Demo? Yeah? Six?
No, No, this dude was looking down. I saw my breakfast, Bro, he was looking down at me. I didn't like that at all.
Yeah, you feel disrespected his offer letter outfit.
I'm definitely heavier than him, but he's he was as usually you get to six three.
He's definitely sixty four. Yeah, yeah, he's definitely six four.

Compressed started to compress a little bit like a spring. So over over shown looks like he's striking toward playing. So I'm gonna bump his his percentage up to like ninety percent based on him practicing yesterday, what I'm hearing, and also Mike McCarthy's comments, who he sounded very confident. McCarthy did that Overshown will play on Monday night, plus you get the extra day, which works in his favor as well.
So I'm bumping that up. Now that was the good. Well, let's stick to.
The good, Ford, let's keep going going good to many doga And of course you can view that however you want to. But he his practice window started yesterday, his twenty one day practice windows, So Cowboys have twenty one days to decide if he's going back on the actor fifty three man roster one, or he's going to the
season ending roster. But I'm of the belief that in his return from his toe injury that put him on IR in the first place, I'm of the belief that they're going to look to put him on the active roster sooner than later because Tyler Guyton continues to deal with what got and told me yesterday is more of a shoulder issue than the neck issue, right, So it's not necessarily a neck at all. It is a shoulder issue he's working through and that's obviously a big deal
when you're an offensive lineman. Yeah, that's gonna take away your strength and everything that he's dealing with. He told me he does have to play with a brace on. He said he's working through it. But when you hear Mike McCarthy's comments about, you know, welcoming a healthy competition, it's not that Guyton is being beat out. You have to focus in on the word healthy and that healthy
competition phrase, because too, Manydoga, he's getting healthy. Austin Richards is healthy and in the small, simple size awesome played pretty well against the Philadelphia Eagles. And now you have Guyton, who is dealing with that, and he's not entirely over that knee issue as well, So you might be looking at a three man battle for the starting left tackle
over the next several weeks. And again that's primarily because Guyton is banged up and it's an availability thing, right, So the good news is Chuman's back to help in that regard. Okay, now we kind of go to not so great. Let's keep it to the offensive line. So yesterday out came a particular All Pro guard with his knee and leg heavily wrapped with no pads and no helmet, and it was Tyler Smith.
Tyler Smith is dealing with a knee injury. We don't know the.
Extent of it, but it did hold him out of practice entirely yesterday.
Can we take Isaiah's one shot?

You're getting a swing tackle back and chewing withy dooga. And now in addition to your starting left tackle dealing with issues injury wise, you're all pro left guard is dealing with a.
Knee issue against what tea?
This is against the Houston Texans and a defensive front that we will speak of today, featuring guys such as the Neo speaking over in peace to the great So. But I mean, so there's the offensive line. You take one step forward and trying to show up shore up your your left tackle spot because of injury, and you look to the right end. Tyler Smith is dealing with some things, and of course Zach Martin is also dealing
with some things. Right, So this offensive line is just it's it's not in m GB not great, not great Bob, not great Bob.
Now at least like coming up after this week, They're not playing like anybody.
Crazy on the defensive line, right Washingtons?
Okay, yeah it is all bad?
Any other good there? Or is it just all bad? No, there's there's some slight good.
I mean the good Man that was a really bad one I need.
Yeah, absolutely, So this one isn't good enough to be the equivalent of the bad like counterbalance.
But maybe when you add it with overshown plane, maybe that works.
So I had a an exclusive Q and A with Will Greer on yesterday, and very insightful. You can see the added maturity that he has as far as his evolution because he spent some time with several other teams. One of those teams and he really circled in on this, and Isaiah's gonna love this. He had a lot to say about mister Belichick, a lot of great things to
say about mister Belichick. Now, he did say obviously when Grier got up to New England, it was on the back well it was basically the final year of Belichick, so things were kind of messy at the quarterback position whatnot. But that's not what Will chose to focus on. He was basically talking about all the good that he learned from Bill, how to approach the game like a winner, how to view different defenses in a light that he
hadn't thought of before he got to New England. So just how Bill Belichick helped him in his development even in that short period of time as a quarterback. And those are the types of lessons that he's now bringing back to Dallas. And then, of course we talked about it yesterday's game for Dallas. I mean, the guy had two in the air, two in the ground, three hundred yards passing just under sixty yards rushing. He absolutely cooked
in his final preseason game. So if he can build on that and take lessons learned from guys like the legendary Belichick. Maybe he can actually be a really impactful contributor, even if it's just from an evaluation standpoint. Because you don't have Cooper Rush under contract next year, you don't have Trey Lynch in the contract next year. So just let this be a wide open competition for QB two, is what I'm saying.
Yeah, so let Trey out there and let Will out there.
And because again we're talking about an offensive line that's really banged up, and when they weren't banged up, they were still having problems protecting your two most mobile quarterbacks of Will Greer and Trey Lance. So Will Greer season, Hey he cooked in the preseason, Trey Greer season, Trey Greer rush to conclusions season. Yeah, yeah, just let them let them fight it out for that QB two. Let them fight it out. Interesting, may the best man win?
Back to Tyler Smith really quickly? Do you feel like it's severe enough to where he is going some time?
I won't to your intuition, I'm gonna i'll know today.
I will say that not only was it heavily wrapped, he did have a bit of a limp. Again, this is an extra day because Monday night football, so that helps. But I need to see how he looks today, right, if he is If he looks today like he did yesterday, my concern heightens quite a bit. He's just he's been
your best offensive lineman. And if he's on a bad wheel against the Houston Texans danger, Yeah, especially, it gets all the more reason to pull Rush back because you don't want him to get killed back there.
Yeah, especially on that side.
I'm not saying we're not distracted by tours, We're not distracted by tapping on a glass.

Strings became the head coach of the Houston Texans because of his defenses. His name is Demiko Ryans. He was a really good player. He's a really good coach. These guys are playing.

The last time that you face Demico Demico Ryan's defense, it was in a wild call round of twenty twenty two against the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Everybody remember that game. I don't want to forget it.
Yeah, yeah, I know people are choosing to forget that, but you can't. You know, if you, if you, if you don't acknowledge history, you're bound to repeat it. So going back to that game, you did not know, did not have your best game.
You didn't.
You only had a handful of turnovers. I think you had one interception through the air. You only had two hundred and thirty yards passing. You have seventy seven.
Yards on the ground.
Their defense was dominant. They were in they were in Dak's face. They're in dak S face. Yeah, just leave it at pressure, Yeah, a lot of pressure.
Well he's Dak can bounce back on this one, right, Yeah.
He'll I don't even know if he'll be for the present from the game. Yeah, I think he's in New York somewhere. But let's get to their defensive line. Let's just knock it out the box. Okay, their defensive line is stacked. Okay, when I say stacked. It's mainly because of this. These two guys, one guy I believe is still injured and Will Anderson Junior. Yeah, but the other dude is Daniel Hunter fifty five. Find them, find them, don't don't let them be door. They explorer in this game.
Just put a highlighter on him and track him because and pray he is and pray this year in his last few years he is playing. They traded for him from Minnesota. For those that don't know, they wouldn't got him because they needed another dude to play across from Will Anderson, because they wanted their defensive line to be unstoppable. And that's exactly what they've gotten when these two are
on the field together. But when Anderson is out, it's almost like Daniel Hunter steps it up even more just to say I got you.
Guys.
I'm gonna cary you like a Jan Sport. But this dude is all over the place. If you guys go back and watch the game against Detroit. I know we were talking about it here in the break. He worked. He worked Pinay Suwel a number of times. And when I say work, I mean as I mentioned it in the break. You know as Alan Iverson you know, tim hardaway crossovers, slash, you know, white chocolate, you know what I'm saying from and one for those that can go back that far.
Not like pensul is any good though, right, I.
Mean he's only the second best rated office alignment in the league according to Pro Football Focus. Yeah pff he yeah.
So he's a dude, man, He's big, he's physical, he's elusive, he does unorthodox type rushes along with him. They got some other dudes on the defensive front that we can go down a whole list, but it's really not necessary because it's more so what they do as a unit. They run a ton of stunts, a ton of stunts. They hardly ever just line up and come straight at you.
These guys are their gap discipline while running stunts. And for those that don't know what stunts do to a offensive line is it confuses offensive linement because they will
make you think that you're supposed to be blocking them. Right, You have an assignment as offensive linement, and then that guy will engage you, draw you to him, and then another guy will replace him, and then that guy who you originally had will then scrape over the top to where there's a now avoided space, So you end up with one guy on a block of two or three guys and one guy ended up free often and that
happens often. And if Daniel Hunter decides to line it up and go against you, this dude has a pluthora type of rushes to try to get to the quarterback. So their defensive front is nasty. The linebackers are freaking nasty. Aziz al sha Here is nasty. Henry Tutu I like him as well.
These guys.
Just the front seven is solid as you go to the outside. Derek Stingley Junior, he's one of the few cornerbacks that will come up and hit you. He'll come up and hit you. He has no problem staying at the line of scrimmage and being a run force. I think that's one of the reasons why they're so good against the run, is because their cornerbacks are willing to get up there and put their head in there. We talk about it a lot in regards to our defense and whether or not our guys are willing to do that,
but they do a great job with that. In terms of their past defense, their past defense is is solid as well. Okay, So as I started going down statistics, Okay, let me help you guys out. Defensive yards allowed two hundred eighty eight yards or third in the league in terms of yards allowed. Okay, they don't give up a lot of yards in terms of passing yards. I'm turning. In terms of sacks. They are second in the league
in sacks second. We just finished talking about the second Yeah, behind the Vikings, and the Vikings blitz every play their second behind those guys and they're rushing four Mmm.
Good talking against banged up offensive line that didn't really have a ton of rhythm to establish in the first place.
You know what else, they're second at interceptions.
I wonder why, no, Jared could be because the pass rushes.
It's getting home or getting close at least I take that.
I'm sorry. They're not second in sacks. They're third in sacks. Now we're five.
Second second interceptions, third in sacks, third and yards giving up I mean, top five defense.
Okay, let's just leave it at that. Is that safe to say? Top top five in all categories? Okay?
What's what's what's more impressive to you the personnel side of things? Because I know we're talking about some of these guys. I know, Daniel Hunter.
Is a dude.
Jalen Peatries played well since he was drafted a Baylor. Derek Stingley Junior has been decent on the outside as well.
But it's not like.
These these are names. No, these aren't the Nick Bosa's and the Fred Warners that he had to work with initially. These guys are becoming names through the scheme. So is it more impressive from a personnel standpoint?
Glad, Glad you asked that this scheme is nasty. It's Mick nasty with a side of dipping sauce. The things that they do are very unorthodox and is very much so schemed up based upon their opponent. So one of the reasons why they they caused Jared Goff so many problems the other day is because they were doing double teams from from sets that you never see double teams from. They line up with a single high safety. They want to play cover three, but in that cover three, they're
able to double team you're number one receiver. Really nasty stuff, and I'm talking about your receiver can be lined up. So for instance, I'm around Saint Brown right was on the left side numerous times, and he tried to run over routes to the right side. Well, the right the linebacker, the right outside linebacker ended up being the guy who ends up double teaming the crossing route when they check
to their near side. If nobody's taking their guy vertical right as an inside linebacker or a roll down safety, if they don't have a vertical threat to their side, they are now turning and going and double teaming their best receiver.
That's serial killer stuff.
It's nasty because because in a cover three zone, they're supposed to be a void in that portion of the defense. But there's no longer a void because now where that void is, you're seeing your guy go across the formation trying to get to the soft spot of the zone. You see the safety over the top of him. In your head, you're like, oh, that safety, he can't do
anything because he's behind my guy. Well, what you're not seeing is once you release the ball, the side that your receiver's going to is there's a guy waiting there. He's literally looking for that over route. He's literally going and double teaming your guy from the backside. So it's not even just hey, we got two guys are sitting here over ce d Lamb. We're gonna double team them right now.
We got them.
No, it's like, okay, we got one guy that's sitting over the top of ceed Lamb, and if he decides to go in, we got somebody waiting on him. The technique that they're utilizing is absurd, and they're using it on everybody. If you want to run across the formation, there's somebody waiting on you. You're not running across their formation unimpeded. And if you do feel unimpeded, you better look around because somebody's gonna be sitting there coming out.
Somebody's coming out there, somebody's coming out there.
It's really really sold for anybody who has the NFL Pro app go on there, watch watch some film. Just click on the defense and watch the last few games. They do some crazy stuff. Man and Demico Ryans has these guys playing lights out because he's asking less of his guys.
He's at it is scheme, it is.
Hey, we play as a unit, right, I'm not gonna make you chase somebody around the whole field. Don't worry about if he decides to go over there, we got him. If he decides. Yeah, if it decides, if he decides to go vertical, we got them.
Yeah. Right.
If they want to run things underneath, let them have it, let them have it. Most teams aren't patient enough to chip their way down the field. They can't run the ball if you drop back and wait for something to happen down the field. Well, we have a dude and by the name of Daniel Hunter, who's just a hunter. Yep, right, and those guys go eat. So that's why they're top
five in every statistical category in defense. And as bad as their offense is playing right now, it's given their defense opportunity.
So with all of that being said, where is the hope for a team that had under one hundred and fifty total yards and under fifty passing yards last week?
Oh, we had sixty six passing yards for quarter six? Yeah, well combined we had sixty.
Here. I was worried, can we can we find some hope offensively?
I don't see. I don't see a glimmer of hope. I think that they're Can they get to one hundred and fifty yards?
Yeah?
Can they hit the can they find the end zone?
I don't know. I don't know.
The weak spot of the Dallas Texans right now is their offense. Yeah, they without Stefan Diggs, without without Nico Collins, they're struggling.
And that's saying something because they're struggling, but they're still not Cowboys offense struggling.
No, they're not that bad. I mean, that's that's that's really bad.
And we talked about it a little bit yesterday because they still have some weapons. Nico Collins is their deep threat. He's their guy that they can rely on to be that oversea. Yes, he's back to Oh that's unfortunate.
Yeah, so uh yeah, without him and the fold, they still were able.
To move the balls. I'm sorry a little bit retract all of my statement. Yeah, so he's back. He's their game changer.

type of defense. Now, now you have to look at I'm sure that coach Zimmer is looking at this offensive line of the Texans and seeing where they're having struggles. They are having struggles passing off, passing off twists and games and all that stuffy they're terrible. I mean they're off wadded. I don't know what their offensive line is doing, what they're being taught, but they're really bad. So if he's seeing the same thing that I'm seeing, then you're not going to see our guys up front.

And one of the best things to do when you're trying to get a young quarterback into an early rhythm is you give him those quick outs and those quick dump offs the U to the running back and so that he can get in that little rhythm and it gets his confidence up
so he can start taking those shots downfield. Now, granted, you look at his yards Joe Mixon as a receiver this year, only one hundred and fifty yards receiving, but nine point nine yards per reception. So when he's targeted, that's damn near first down every single time C. J.
Stroud targets him.
And they can use that to keep guys like the marve On over shown in Michael Parson's off balance and then if you because you have to respect that. What you should respect above all is Joe Mixon's ability to take the ball as a direct handoff and do some damage there.
So good news is the Cowboys we talked about.
They were able to contain b Jeon Robinson on the ground, contain Saquon Barkley on the ground. But the asterisk there was. Bjeon was able to do real damage as a receiver and.
Was able to do some damage.
Sakwan didn't do as much damage as a receiver as Bjeon, but he did.
Damage in critical situations.

We talked to McCarthy about that specific play yesterday and McCarthy said, in looking at it, Jalen Tobert didn't think the ball was coming his way.
Here's the problem I have with that, said his name.
But no, no, no, because we're talking about this play in that interception, right. The problem I have with that particular thing is whether you whether the play is coming your way or not. If it's not coming your way, you're the decoy. If you're the decoy, you have to run the route as if the ball was coming your way.
Otherwise you're telling them that it's not coming your way. That's number one.
Number two, you have to understand that the quarterback might have to go through his reads and read one and two might not be there, so it still might come here. Let me let me just clear this up. Is better than that play he put on filming.
But it's not just that play. Yeah, it's it's not just that play. That's my problem. There's a number of interceptions that.

I thought Tolbert was a guy that was going to step up and take that step forward.
He has not done.
So there was a number of interceptions that Dak had this year were the same individual was doing the same exact thing.

Go on NFL Pro and say all Dallas Cowboys interceptions, look it up and it will break it down for you, every single one.
