This He is Talking Cowboys screaming live on Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the officials Dallas Cowboys. No. Your hosts, Mickey's Fagnola, Brian brought us, Taylor Stern and Rob Phillips. Hello, everyone, and welcome into Talking Cowboys. We are live from the SUBC Mortgage studio and we're getting ready to talk some more Dallas Cowboys football. But before then, how's everyone doing? Mickey you joining us? I am he's here, pages of legal brief here. Push that, Mike just a little bit
to your right. This is how are you? Brian? I'm doing great, tam dy with her. May appreciate you not a long range Mike, Yeah, nope, like a boom boom. Put these onto a boom. I'm good, Tay, thank you. I like that shirt right, thank you, very fashionable. Appreciate that. And Mickey your color matching today because you guys usually do that, but today you guys call ahead. Yeah, I said, Mick, where the team are your vines? Jobs right there? I'm not sure the brand actually got a preppy guy when
it comes. I'm kind of a preppy kind of a man. Yes, yes, a preppy kind of man. And you know, this team's getting a little preppy for the forty nine ers. What a second, you know, I work on my transitions day. Yeah. But of course yesterday everyone was highly alarmed when they heard that. You know, Tyrn Smith not going to do
anything in practice. Of course he was DMP. But now he's going to be back out there today, as coach Garrett said, But the one that was still out with his hamstring, which is really nice to see because we're here in week seven and knock on wood, the Dallas Cowboys only had four players on the practice report yesterday. Of course Cheeto was DMP with the hamstring, Lyle Collins ankle full and Sean Lee there you go, back in action? Yeah, boy,
they missed him. Yig excite about I'm very excited about that because somebody else's back in action for the forty nine ers, and his name's Carlos Hide. Yeah. Yeah, like Carlos Carlos Hide will be a difficult matchup to have to do it. But you know, this would be the first time that Hitchens and Lee have played together this season? Am I correct about? That? Is correctly? Yeah, And that's
something that coming out of training camp. I feel like that maybe there was not everything we were right about coming out of training camp we talked about. But you know this, this is the one combination that we did like on defense that you know, Anthony Hitchins was playing very well. Sean Lee. You knows Sean Lee. So hopefully that can make a difference. It can't hurt, Yeah, it surely can't hurt, especially with the way they've had to deal with running games, the inability to tackle well. We
talked about that in great length yesterday. It's not just one or two guys. It's a host of guys that are having their issues and we'll see if it can It can play out with Lee and Hitchins doing well for them in that running game. I think we spoke to that yesterday. Just having Sean and then especially Hitchens too. They play well off of each other. The communication, the experience, keys and things of that nature. Thinks big in the run defense part. But we talked about it too during
the bye week. You can't let those linemen get to the second level. Yeah, So that's that's part of it too. The d linemen have to hold up on their end too, to give the linebackers some space to operate. Absolutely, Now, Cheeto we know about his injury and he left the Packers game or was it the Rams games Packers game? Yes, yeah, because he had returned to the Packers game from injuring himself in the Broncos game. Right, I was winning, Left, I'm trying to It's like every dB got hurt in that.
Was it Arizona? Or was it? It was? It was it was Brons, it was Broncos, it was Parkers traps. You're right, you are right about that Tech. Yeah, And so you know, Cheeto still dealing with his hamstring and Mickey, we've talked about it. These rookies that are dealing with hamstring injuries obviously soft tissue. You have to be very careful with it. How many more weeks are we expecting Cheeto? He had the bye week last week. He's obviously not
practicing this week. What are we looking for his future here, at least for his rookie season. Did you did somebody compare him to let me look into the future, Into the future, Matt Johnson, you know those tweets? Remember him? No, I haven't seen that yet. Matt didn't last very long. No, Matt played like four years. He never played. Yeah, I think he for four years, I want to say, or three years at least. But yeah, you know, I don't think it's that severe. God, I hope it's not that severe. Matt.
You would know, you know, you know the Cowboys. Yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying. Though. Matt Johnson was a guy that was you know, was a was a player, yeah, safety exactly right, that you know, he just could never get healthy enough to play. And I don't think it is this way with Cheetah. Gosh, I hope not well that the word during the bye week was tight it got. It wasn't like a severe reinjury. I don't think they
felt that. But again, when it's a soft tissue thing and you reaggravate it, you got to be more careful with it the next time. So I don't know, it's hard to put timetables on those things. I'm not I'm not sure, Mick. I mean, I would think they give it a couple of weeks. So even though he had to buy that's right, a week. This is a week and a half now, right, so maybe next week if it if it wasn't that severe and it's the same one that keeps crash up, it was at some point
you got it, just say it. That's what I was told. It was keg, not a pole. So obviously the strength that it is not where they need it to. I mean, they're those these guys, Britt Brownie's guys. They work hard on trying to get these guys when they when they have these problems, to get them right. Yeah, definitely. And so that's where you know, if you say, oh, it's a full blown poll again, Okay, now that's yeah, you're
you're that's a that's a big time play. But when you're when you're talking about it's fatigued, Well, okay, let's figure out what we need to do and then and they are that that's you know, but I think Mickey's right. You know, you're talking about a bye week. You're talking about maybe this week, you know, can you get him back for Washington, you know, maybe another week past that.
But it's unfortunate because there they are committed to playing these young guys are they want to put him out there. They put him out there against Green Bay. You like what you saw from him at stage. I didn't have a problem with that. I really really didn't. I know, one time the ball was going to his right all
the way right sideline. He was playing left hash and he went, you know, he outran, he outran several of his teammates to get to the ball to make sure that the that the ball Currey got knocked out of bounce before they got to the sticks. Yeah, so you know you're kind of like thinking, well, oh, that gives you gives you a little encouragement that you know, and there was things that he was doing even when Jordan Lewis was out. We were like, oh, hey made another play.
Always playing the slot. Always he's doing this, always playing for Byron Jones, because now Byron Jones could play back. Did you ask that question? Who asked the questions about playing Byron Jones up and back in the press conference that Garrett was asked that question, Clarence asked about getting him more involved in center field. Okay, I didn't know if it was. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to compare it to Clarence Hill there, I can see. Yeah, no,
but somebody asked the question. Somebody asked the question, though, is the fact that Cheeto's not in the games or not playing, is that taken away from your ability to say, Okay, we were going to use him as a down player and OTA's Mini Camps training camp and we were going to play Byron Jones deep and now you're having to play Byron Jones up and play Jeff Heath deep. Ye, so is it? Is it? And Garrett says, you know, you gotta play with who you gotta play with kind
of thing. But yeah, if you're planning on you know, you've you've got this nice plan where you're playing, uh, you know. And and hey, by the way, keep an eye on this too. As far as you know, we've talked about Anthony Brown. You know, I'm talking to some people about Lewis's gaining a lot of traction. You know, if Anthony Brown's that doesn't play a little bit better than we might see Jordan Lewis get more snaps with you know, with Scandric. And then also maybe Lewis would
be your starter. And Mickey likes to talk about the nickel stuff, which you know they play a ton of. He's absolutely right, that's kind of considered your starter. But in a base package, maybe we'll see more of Jordan Lewis than that. In a bass Woozier was moving pretty well when he was rehabbing the end of the bye week,
so it's not like he's an invalid right now. And it wasn't just on the chords, you know, I was doing a lot of straight ahead stuff too, So I saw him doing the stuff he needed to do along with Sean Lee, and he seemed to be moving better. But again, I think they're just hesitant to push the envelope on it when it keeps reoccurring. So yeah, I think we'll maybe have to wait a while on him. That's a shame. But hey, I just told you guys, four guys on the Dallas Cowboys practice report, knock on wood,
knock on wood. Not the same for the San Francisco forty nine ers. They had, they had a good handful. And of course Ray Armstrong, their linebackers, seen news came out about him and Ruben Foster earlier this week. I don't think that's gonna affect anything this week. It's something to do where they were getting away, but Reuben Foster didn't practice or he was limited. Both of them were limited yesterday. And well, Foster has been out right, he's
been out. He's just trying to get back. He's trying to get back. Yeah, they were kind of circling this week as his return. Yeah, I had a high ankle in the opener, So he's been out for about five weeks now, and he's the guy that made him feel comfortable letting Bowman go. Really, yeah, he's the guy that's going to fill that spot. They're really high on him. And although it isn't he an outside guy, he is an outside he's a will linebacker, but they play him
in some of their nickel stuff and all. They were playing him inside, so they were trying to do some things with him. I think that that's a it's going to be a struggle for them at linebacker, to be honest with really, I mean yeah, I think I think it is because I look at I look at who's replaced. You know, you brock Korl was a guy you just kind of jokingly mentioned his name yesterday. He took he took Bowman's spot, and he's clearly not even the same guy.
I mean it's talk about physical point of attack type player, not even close to Bowman in that regard. So yeah, we'll see Armstrong. I thought watching tape number fifty four was their best linebacker as far as when Bowman wasn't wasn't in They were taking him out on exactly anyway, right, Yeah, they sure were. But as far as going to the football making things happen, I thought Anderson Armstrong was the best one. We'll see what happens with Foster. Foster's a
run hit linebacker from Alabama, rookie. You know, you you look at him at number ten. When you watch the tape, you're like, oh, you never had to say, oh, where's Foster? Because he was always going to be in the tackle. He was always going to make a big hit. He
was sidelined the sideline player. He's a very physical player, and you know, there's a lot of people that felt like that San Francisco got a steel where they picked him, but he had some shoulder he had any does Alabama linebackers tend to come in the league a little bit
banged up and that might have cost him. And you know, we had what happened, you know with him, with with some of the things that you know, with the injuries and stuff like that, and people kind of dinged him for that and then he went dropping down that board. Did they trade back into the first to get him or Solomon? Time they traded back in y have Foster get Foster. Solomon Thomas was a top ten pick. Yeah,
that's right, third, third, third overall, I believe. Yeah, and he was the guy who went to uh, I'm sorry, he went to Stanford. So John Lynch had been looking at him for quite a while. Local guy too, from Capelle down the road. Yeah, you put those two together. I think they're they like the direction of their young defense. Um, but you mentioned the linebacker spot. If you feel like that's their weakness. This is a pretty good run defense team. Yeah.
There their middle of the pack in the stats, but they're they're only averaging three point four a carry on for opponents. Yeah, what is it? Armstead and but those big yeah seven, Yeah, they've they've got. You know, with Buttner, there's a lot of folks that thought Buttner was drafted. They were they were three four defensive team, you know, with Chip Kelly and all that, and you know, so
they were they were playing that front. They draft the Buck Armstead, those kinds of guys to play, and then all of a sudden they switched to the four to three, and there's a lot of folks that thought, oh, Buck, there's no way that he could play that tall and be a defensive tackle, a little bit like what you get with David Irvy, a tall guy playing as a
defensive tackle. But he's been good. Armstead I think has been the best of their defensive lineman even and that includes even Solomon Thomas, and I think he's been pretty good. Not going to be available this week, right or potentially? Yeah, he's got the hand Armstead and broken hand put him on IR. Yeah he was moving to IR Yeah, okay, Yeah, so that that worry about him. That hurts them. I mean that hurts him because they you know, they've had some injury problems as well. I mean Aaron Lynch I
believe has also had some problems there as well. So Duberville they just don't have that now. The depth is going to be tested, but getting Armstead out of that lineup will be huge for the Cowboys in my opinion. And I don't think they look at Dumerville as an every down play, no, not at all, not at all. He hasn't he didn't have any starts. He's their leader in sacks, I believe, But yeah, he's kind of a rotational guy. He's more of a pass rusher than he
is anything else, that's what you gotta deal with with him. Yeah, but they are struggling, you're right, brand a lot of guys on their defense, ye are just out. Yeah, and that's not necessarily out, but they're they're recovering from these injuries or they're dealing. They need to buy two. Yeah, and they definitely need to buy I mean O and six. They've had three road games. This will be their first home game back. It's rare that you get the three
road game in a row, bit, you know, that's hard. Yeah, and it's it's I think it's been where Indie, Washington? And where was my third one? Who's my third road game that they had? Washington, Washington Rams? They play the Rams at home, I can't remember. Yeah, but anyway, Arizona, Arizona, So that's not a terrible trip. But the Washington and Indie, that's that's going across the country. And those are both early games. Yeah, that's a good bit. And they had
to play overtime, yeah twice. Let's hope that doesn't happen this weekend now. Yeah. Now, because everyone keeps talking about how close their games, their losses have come down to. I get that. You just named, you know, the Colts. That was a big one that came in down to that, and I think that the uncertainty of Dallas's offense. I'm interested to see what Mickey has to say for point total this week for the Cowboys to have to maybe win this game. Yeah, you've been saying it's got to
be forty. But but to me, you know, this is one of those things with the uncertainty that you have on the Cowboys defense, and hopefully Sean Lee makes a difference in this defense, and hopefully the rest makes a difference in this defense. But you know this is what that This is why the uncertainty this is you know your own six team, you know their rookie quarterback, all these things that you think would be against them. But with so many uncertainty with the Cowboys defense, it's it's
probably gonna be pretty even game. It could go one or two ways for a team it's own six and has lost five games in a row by thirteen total points. I mean, you can either let down or you can kind of rally because, as Tay said, you're back home and maybe there's some new juice with a young quarterback that you think can rally you a little bit, so I'm interested to see. I mean, I wouldn't call this a trap game because the Cowboys need to get back to five hundred. I mean, this is not an undefeated
Cowboys team either. They need to get back on the right track. But Mickey always says the more you lose, the closer ye are of winning. It'd be a trap game for San Francisco. It's like they're thinking, oh, we're gonna win one. They look who's coming to town, A two and three team. Well, they have to feel like though I've written about this before, I feel like that Kyle Shanahan has to feel like that they could run the football and an offensive balance is going to be
key for them. It really will. Look at what's happened in the last two weeks, one hundred and sixty four yards rushing in both those games. You know that that is one of the difference why the Rams had success the Packers had success because you couldn't the strength you have is pass rush. You could never get it to where you could pass rush where you could just pin your ears back like they did in the Arizona game. You know, they pin their ears back and look what happened.
You know this game. You hope you control the running game. You find a way to get them in some not manageable third down situations. Now you can pin your ears back and go and play to your strength. But that's going to be their priority. Try to protect the young quarterback, run the ball, don't don't get them in a lot of tough situations. So if they can run and protect him and not ask them to do a heck of a lot, you know, that's got to be what their
game plan, especially when you look at the Cowboys run defense. Yeah, you know, I'm I'm looking at the stats here the tackles. You got to go all the way down to the ninth person in total tackles to find a defensive lineman. Nine eight guys got more? How many tackles than any defensive line? How many are in the secondary at the top of the list, it's all it's all secondary in linebackers and and and at nine and ten? Or is your first two defensive linemen in total tackles? And guess
what it's twelve and eleven? Can that be right? Is that not? And updated? What what Marcus Lawrence? They got him down for twelve tackles. That can't be right. He's does a sack count as a tackle? No, because he's had a bunch of those, Yeah, eight and a half of those. That's the thing. I think that's there's think that might not have got updated. No, I think that's kind of where they are at. Really, yeah, i'd really do. And MALIEK. Collins only has eleven total tackles. See that's
what we're talking about, though, Mickey. I mean you you you've said it. You you even said it. You called out. I don't mean to call out. You said, hey, offensive line, defensive line played better, MALIEK. Collins. You know, Rob just mentioned second level blocks, stuff like that. Guys getting off site. You know, hey, you've you've got to we haven't seen we haven't seen MALIEK. Collins make those those plays, you know, down after down after down that we saw him battling
Zach Martin. I'm thinking, okay, I get ready, rest of the National Football League. You know, here's here's here's what you're gonna get. And it just hasn't materialized like I thought it would with with him play in the inside. So we'll see. Maybe this will be Taco's breakout game. Maybe this will be that because you know he knows CJ. Beth Third from Iowa. Yeah, there you go. They kind of beat them last year on a salty end of the game. That was a salty end of the game.
Jordan Lewis too, Jordan Lewis, but maybe hopefully you know, you're talking about increasing the past rush. Would you guys like to see Taco finally have that breakout play well just doing here's the defensive line. Yeah, he's holding up a pen. It's listing right. It's like, yeah, the guy over here is doing really well, and the teeter totter over here goes up in the air. Saw, yes, teeter Totter. I'd like to see Taco do well just so the coaches put him out there more. I don't think he's
given the coach play. I don't think he's given the coaches really much reason to say, Okay, we're gonna you know, that's what we've seen with Jordan Lewis. Uh, you know, Xavier Woods, these young guys, Uh, Bryce Butler, you know, get you get more plays when you do things positively
in the game. Don't be a guy that we put in there and then it's the same old, same old, for three or four plays in a row, and then well, okay, we'll give you another run twenty five plays from now, where it's three or four more plays and you're doing the same thing. Give the coaches a reason to put you in there and take somebody else out. That's what it's That's really what this is all about. And the lack of doing that I think has affected the way
he's played. It's not the coaches, Yankee. He's got to prove of the coaches that he can help and make plays. Absolutely well, let's get to more of that and talk about Ezekiel Elliott finally spoke yesterday in the locker room, had some very interesting things to say. I appreciate it because thanks because we're back here, guys, and we got to talk. Ezek Elliott talked yesterday and he was actually very candid about everything, talking of course about his ongoing court case and and Ken Garrison. Our producer is going to go ahead and play a quick clip of what he was
discussing about the reasons to clear his name. That's all it comes down to I mean, when when you get a queue of sometime of that magnitude and kind of get labeled as an abuser, and that's it's not that's not me, that's not how I want to be saying. That's not what I want to represent my family, and so I mean, it's just important for me to just to fight. Okay, Well there you go. I mean, he really has not spoken about this at all. He didn't speak at all during training camp. He really didn't talk
that much about this. When he got back here and he was playing, he was very focused on just talking about football. Of course, now you know he's saying, I have to clear my name and this is not what I want to be represented. I thought that was open and honest from him, and you know he kind of did say, yeah, it's taken a toll a little bit. Yeah, I said, it's been a little tiring, which is what you've mentioned yesterday. That was Yeah, that was the most
candid I've I've heard him be about the situation. And it's got to wear on him a little bit. I think I think it's got to help Tuesday to have that victory. It's temporary victory. Will see what happens next. There's been reports that Okay, maybe they're going to talk settlement between the two sides. I don't know if that's going to happen. But which side do you think is proposing that in light of what he just said? He is, he just said he wants to clear his name. Why
didn't you take a oh you said settlement? I would he take a settlement? So you say in the NFL. Maybe the NFL is sitting there looking at this and going, now, that's the third judge that didn't agree with Yeah, I think there were all though they just put out a twenty eight page I knew you would run that off for I saw it on Twitter for the guy at the lady to be able to when they when they challenge judge. Yeah, the judge Katherine, Judge Katherine, you know,
clear your name, you know? And this this is the this is the thing I've always thought about about him, clear your name, clearer name. But with the NFL, because it's not the courts haven't I mean, the court didn't say that he was a domestic violence person. Yeah. Yeah, that's that's the problem I have. He's being labeled something that he doesn't He believes he's not by the NFL. The NFL is about entertainment. It's not about judge and jury.
And that's what we become. That three hours a day that we really enjoyed on Thursdays and Saturdays sometimes and Sundays and Mondays. They've taken that away from us with all this they really have and the fact that they're able to make. You know, we have very capable men and women in the legal system that are outstanding judges, lawyers, clerks, whatever you want to say, people that are far smarter than me. But now we've we've made it, We've brought
them into the game. And you know what, I don't I don't think they necessarily want to be in part of our game. I really don't. It's a lot to take on. I think they want to be, you know. I think they want to handle the real case of the United States and the fact that the league has taken on this, you know, and they've took thirteen months to label him a domestic violence abuser. And I think that, you know, I'm the guy that says, why do you have to clear your name when the court of law?
United States? Nobody filed Nobody filed against him. No, I mean he Jordan Lewis had to go clear his name. Mickey did a heck of a job during training camp keeping us abreast of what was going on with Jordan Lewis. Jordan Lewis took an opportunity to go before a judge of his peers and to clear his name, and he did. You know, I don't know if Ezekiel Elliott will ever
get to fully clear his name, you know. And he could keep fighting, he could keep fighting, he could keep fighting, but he won't have his day in court like like Jordan Lewis did. It's the court of the NFL, which is absolutely wrong. That's the problem I have because to me, I'm saying, well, why are you trying to clear your name? You you weren't criminally charged with anything, but the NFL says he was. The NFL it's almost as potent. Yeah. And to me, the legal system charging you to me, yes,
your money, Yeah. I just I have this huge problem with the NFL stepping in and taking my three hours a week and making it something about a court case. I just can't. I can't get over the fact I don't think he's ever going to get clear his name. I really don't. Well, he's certainly never going to get this season back. I mean, this season's been so up and down for him. Am I wrong about this? The only way it'll get cleared is if this case, the lawsuit they filed, goes all the way to be heard,
right and they say how high does that go? Well, it to whoever's it would be this court that it's in right now, because that's where they filed the lawsuit in. But what the NFL's doing is trying to prevent that lawsuit from being heard. The fairness, It's like, what did I tell the guys this morning? It's like the you know the road spikes they throw down stop a speeding car that's chasing. Yeah, well that's what the NFL's doing
right now. They're throwing down legal road spikes. Yeah. A lot of this has had to do with jurisdiction and right, not the fairness, this whole fundamental fairness. And they're trying to protect the Commissioner's office and what they can do. But I just don't believe in my heart that Ezekiel Elliot will ever have his name cleared. I really don't, not as long as the NFL's involved. Well, and it's
a shame. That's shame they've tagged him. The state of Ohio, the Great State of Ohio has not tagged him that, you know, and not to say that, you know, I mean, it's it's the it's Ohio, it's Texas, it's whoever. You know, we're not hearing about his the bestic violence stuff. We're hearing about trying to you know, what's right, fundamentally right, blah blah blah, all that stuff. That's that's the issue. But he is not going to clear his name, not
as long as the NFL is involved. Well, this has affected this team, whether people want to think it or not. Not necessarily in meetings, not the xs and os, but this team carried four backs going into this season due to the fact that they knew this could possibly come down throughout the season. It has. You know, it came down the first week when we were sitting there Friday afternoon and the first tr was granted. And so now you're you're affected because is it Darren McFadden out this week?
You know Mickey's theory of fresh legs and having to keep him that took someone else's spot. Sure, there's guys you know, by keeping, as you said, as many backs as you have, a guy like Mark Nazacha just for example. I mean, that could have been a guy that could help you on special teams at a different spot that they're going heavy, just for insurance purposes. What your running back? Would you have cut? That's a great question, Mickey. I'm
just saying, no, you're right. If you if you talked about the one that outplayed the other one, it would have been worse outplayed Mcwill. They weren't going to cut MC. But you asked me the question. Yeah, I know, I'm saying, I'm just trying to give you an answer. Yeah, Rod Smith made this team. Yeah, like not just as a runner. Yeah, team guy might have been a situation you might have to cut the fullback, Jabe Smith. You know, Keith Smith might have been the guy. What is his role? What
do you guys think he's been proved? I would get ready for I'd get ready for a more role of Keith Smith. You would I think, I think I think they're I think they're gonna try. We saw a little bit in the Green Bay game. What happened in the second half, the fourth quarter of that game. They inserted Keith Smith. They ran a crack toss. The thing went for twenty five yards. Now all of a sudden, it's like, WHOA got a little traction here? Boom, run again, keep moving,
keep moving. I think you're gonna see more Keith Smith, I really really do. Wouldn't you rather see the fullback end there than two tight ends? Is the two tight end thing? Hasn't if? If the two if, if James Hannah doesn't block as well as he needs to block, put Keith Smith in there and let it go. And you know Jason Witt and Golden Jacket Wit, he does the best he can too. I mean he's had his
issues there as well. I mean he's it's a shame because you know, we know Witton catching the football being down the field. He's become a good blocker late in his career. Usually guys go the other way. They'd be said, well, I'm not gonna block him. Yeah, but Witten says, you know what if I'm not gonna catch passes. But there's
been some tough assignments they've asked him to do. And like I say, there's been some balls that should have been maybe outside that he had the blocker pin to the inside and all of a sudden, he goes inside. Now he's looking bad that way. Yeah, so it's not told. But yeah, Mickey's right. If you're gonna play twelve personnel and not be effective at it, give me the twenty one personnel and let me go to battle that way.
Because they're not fooling anybody. You know, when he used two tight ends, it's not like, Okay, we're saddling it up and run right. You got to slip one of those guys out there and throw a pass to him. Yeah, and that doesn't seem to be happening. Well, they need to get they need to get Smith involved. Throwing him in the football too. And we saw that what happened on the third down play. They threw him the ball
in the flat. So if you're gonna put him in the game, and he's a good little receiver, not little, but he's a good receiver. That's a lot of trust and former linebacker, you know, and they have trust in him. They trust a great hand. They trust a lot of players here. Yeah, they trust a lot. They trust a lot of these guys are gonna make plays. They trust, you know, the Kyle Wilber's and the Damien Wilsons, and they trust a lot of guys. You know, it's until
you start not making plays. And that's why I was talking about a Woozier or actually Taco Hey, you keep making plays, give them reasons to play you if you're going to keep making plays. And that's what these guys are trying to do. Yeah. Absolutely, Yeah, can actually one final thing please do if Mickey Elemily ask you this question, because and Rob you, everybody can ask an answer this question.
If they offer him a settlement and the NFL comes out to say we will drop the domestic violence uh tag, apologize for that, drop that tag and say you suspend him a game or two would if you were Ezekiel Elliott, would you settle that to get that behind you? Depends on how they phrase it, if they if they fall an apology from the commissioner of the National Football League.
But he shouldn't be then in that situation, I don't think he should be suspended at all because everything, all their findings and what you know, you're in August eleven, everything had to center back to those allegations. Right, Am I wrong about that? Or was there anything else cumulative? They didn't talk about the Saint Patty's Day thing, right, It was all about allegations that he's denied the three incidents that they kept bringing up. Yeah, yeah, I don't
know if it's ever gonna get it. Is it worth it to you, Mickey to get your name cleared from the league because you, like we just talked about, does the one game suspension still get rid of my base salary guarantees for the next two years because suspension? Yeah, that's that's a good point. That's good that you were talking about money earlier. That's a lot of money. See, but you do get your name cleared, you do get
what you what you're you're you're already spending. Then why are you suspending If I'm the PA, I'm saying, well, why are you suspending him at all? Then? If I'm not suspending for that because it just general Prince, I just yeah, I don't like the way you act, but it's just a lot of guys that get suspended for that. Let me ask you this question. I say this, I think I think it's in the union's mind. It's like, I'm not speaking for the union. What I'm saying. It's
got to be all or nothing. Right, clear your name means I did nothing wrong. This suspension is invalid. It shouldn't happen period. Not middle ground does. And what they're trying to say is they're suspending them for personal conduct. Yes there, but it's veiled. Well okay, what if okay, yeah, what if it does turn into Saint Patty's Day and various other things that we found out. I don't go ahead and look at everybody. I don't think that. I
think yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just it's frustrating. Then that's how it is. It's that the only way you're gonna get your name cleared. Though, Mickey, I think if this thing goes to the lawsuit and you win the lawsuit, I think you will get your name cleared because you can always say I didn't get victed as was charged, was charge, wasn't charged in the LEAs And this was a unfair process that I went through in the NFL. And I think no one sits there and goes well,
some people will because I'll give you an example. Had a good friend ran a restaurant. One of the writers accused him of rape. Three inch headline front page of our newspaper. He's in there he owns a restaurant. A week later found out that she was jealous that he was dating somebody else and kind of made it up. Metro section, third page about a twelve inch headline, Oh no charges being filed? You think everybody's which headline? Do you think everybody saw? And in people's mind, you did it?
You did it? Yeah, you can't. You can't put that thing back in the in the bag, you know. And so you know, I think this will follow him some. There'll be people out there. I mean you see the tweets, right, there's people that you know, oh, you know, what are
you sticking up for this guy for? Yeah? You know if he went on though and it had let's just say, okay, So he plays eleven more games and he has a Pro Bowl season again and he is back to rookie Zeke and he's lightening it up and he's carrying this team. Him and Dak are back doing the two one four? Does that help in fans eyes? Some people will never change. People don't change their minds. There. Yeah, they're they're they're walking away from this game because of some social issues.
People that love the NFL are no longer watching the NFL. Yeah, I'm just saying, as far as zeke, people will have their right. You win, and people suddenly things get a little bit forgotten. Yeah. Yeah, And the no no charge has ever filed helps. I think, Brian, you alluded to Kobe as a as an example a while back, and those are those are different sets of charges off the field type stuff that Kobe was acquitted or wasn't charged
infidelity yet. Yeah, but it's still I'm sure there's a segment of the population that still associates that with him, allegedly or whatever. Uh, Like Mickey said, I don't I don't know if it ever ever, he goes away one hundred percent go away from him, and that's unfortunate, you know, Yeah, it is unfortunate. And he will be playing this week. He you know, he talked about Okay, I'm here to play this week. Yeah, I'm here to play next week, and then from then on we'll see, we'll see, we'll see.
But this week, I think, you know, it's a good it's a good opportunity for him. You know, you guys are talking about how the defense, defensive line for the forty nine ers is one of their struggling points. So ezek Elliett can go up there and have himself a day. He was outstanding in the game last year. I hope you guys are sitting in the press box he plays the same way he played last year in that football game.
If he does, Dallas will win this. He average like six something yards, Like I told you first and twenty, they flip him a screen and he and he just by balance and desire gets nineteen yards. You know, that's what you need. That's what you need from ezekiel La. You know you said it. If he could play to a point where all of a sudden, it's he's able to put some of these things. Rob said it though, too. He's got to be exhausted. He's got to be exhausted
about what's going on every single day. Oh we all are we all? Yeah? If we are, can you imagine? But I'm just saying play. The sanctuary they used to have was that football field. Yeah, that's and that's where they need to get back to, the need to get back to winning football games. They got eleven straight weeks now to figure this out. You had your bye week, you know last year was everything was just right on path. Roses, Here we go now you're now, you got your now,
you got your back against the wall. You got a team in Philadelphia that's playing pretty well. You know, you got to figure it out. You got the Giants or not. I mean it's the Redskins aren't a bad team. You better figure things out real quick or the season is going to be more, or the season is gonna be more than Ezekiel Eliot's off the field. And there is opportunity because you look around the NFC and and there's nobody running away with this thing. Philly's got a two
game lead on the division. That's they're off to a great start. There's still a lot of division games left, but a Green Bay team that loses Rogers, we'll see what happens there. But there's opportunity to go get a wildcard spot or win, go win this division. It's possible. The Packers ticket sales have gone down fifty percent, all right, Aaron Rodgers went out. Yeah that's unlike Packer fans. Yeah, I thought they were always sold out with season tickets.
They are for like the next twenty something years. How could there's their ticket sales of whatever? They maybe the resale market, the resale Oh Okay, yeah, we'll get Romo. Cookee Romo. All right, Well, we're gonna get to more out of break, come back from our final breaks. Get troyan go, get Troy. Bring them out of the booth. Hey, bab Bloffenberg, they're looking at you. What mean for like during the show? Yeah, whence one of those times and you guys come back off one of those road trips you get in at four in the morning next week, is it Washington Sunday? No, you will get back at Ford. And then where are you back at midnight? Don't you this trip? I don't know. Better be a little deeper into the night than that one. Let's see deeper. Game starts locally at like a three o'clock. It won't finish till six thirty two hours of you
hammering on the Smith typewriter. The time we leave the stadium, it'll be eight that right, I say, the right typewriter? Is it Smith Corolla Smith Corona Corona? Yes, that's what you drink too when you type. And then we moved up to IBM. Yeah, and then you have many real quips. Elect a little little ball? Can I can I ask one question? We'll be back in right, We'll be back midnight one o'clock, Mickey. When you had to when you
had to send your story in? Yeah, like on that IBM thing, did you just like to bully anybody to get the get the cord to plug in so you could send your story in? Did you ever have to? I couldn't send it in they had no email, but have to plug in? Didn't yet we had a it was a called a teleram. Yeah, it was the forerunner
to a fax machine. There you go. So there was a teleram where you were right, there was a telegram in the office and you had to put your page in there and the thing spun over the phone line. There you go, and they it coordinated with the page back in the office been up at the same time and awful. Oh you've never seen the thing bust and you had to do it over my over Did you just want to fight people at that time, Mickey? Did
you just get mad? They used a lot. No, because what they did in the press box, they would have service that would do this for you, so you'd pay twenty bucks and say, here's my copy, send it, send it. But well sometimes you had to carry those things with you, your your own Yes, before they figured hey we could make money doing this. Yeah, that's sending stuff. You said, projectors over there. Hey today, thank you. I kept looking for the poll and I couldn't find it. Well, but
it's not that far. When did you put it? What did you put it up? Is eighteen hours ago. That's why then I didn't go down that far. We'll appreciate that. Mick, appreciate your tweets on the old target was all about it was all about Zeke Yeah, who's that? Yeah? Who's that? Eel Elliott? All Right, we're gonna talk forty nine ers with this pole. Biggest concern in Sunday's matchup. We mentioned
a few of these guys already. Carlos Hide, Yeah, Solomon Thomas, Pierre Garson, Jared goof or starting quarterback, new starting quarterback, Ceja Bethard. Who concerns you most in this man? I think recent history would tell me car Carlos Hide. By recent history, you mean the horrifying image. Visit Aaron Jones just having a day setting, would you would? I think people would recognize that Garson from his days in Washington would be a guy that like, oh my god, they
throw them the ball. He runs for twenty eight years. He was out yesterday. Not injury related. Maybe veteran rest. When old man, the old man, old man rest, They've rested all their veterans. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go. You went with Hide, I'm with Hide. I'm gonna go with I would say Hide too, Although you know a rookie quarterback who's got some momentum. You don't have any film on him really that you know, short week, not a short week, but still you haven't seen a whole
lot of him. We had a lot. The fans say, Carlos hide fifty eight percent, and that's directly correlated, I think to the run defense the last couple of weeks, as you said, days horrifying the voice of the fans here. That is so far not true. I am you, You are Mickey, and I are not. So Okay, where was my guy? Where was Where was Pierre? Uh? He was? He was last? He didn't show up? Okay, come on,
they have no percent? Second place, twenty percent? Okay, Hey, you guys were talking about Mark Zach You know he's on the forty nine, yes this week? Yeah, giving him all there and giving him all those secrets. Yeah, haven't have you got that Twitter question yet? I don't think people even know he was there. I don't think so. They probably they do it now. Well, it happened like the dead of the night. It was. I think you guys are on the plane coming back from Denver. It
was it was. It happened dead period. Yeah, you guys, was like a Friday or Saturday. You know what it was. It was Arizona. Yeah, you guys are Sunday Sunday. Yeah, there, that's right. A lot of it happened Saturday. Yes, yes, yeah, he got buried. Yeah, I was the only one here, Mark, don't go stop. Is he playing? I probably? I haven't seen him. I haven't seen him. One hasn't been active yet. I haven't know he Maybe he might be, but I haven't seen him jump in there. I need to watch
a little specially to where he's on the depth chart. Yeah, I think he's back to the back, to the back, So stop that Carlos hide guy, he's behind stop him. He's behind Foster Ray Ray. And then it's yeah yeah man. Pr Garson though, do you worry you a little bit? Though? Okay, good player in Washington. Let's talk about rookie quarterbacks. Though.
Let's talk a little bit about rookie quarterbacks. There kind of the unknown, Tay, I don't know because I'm looking at Deshaun Watson and uh yeah, I know what you're saying. For this particular, this guy had a lot of jack last year. He had a lot of snaps at Iowa. He had a dack. What stands out to me about him, and I think his coach said moment wasn't too big for him last week, and it reminded me of Dak because Dak had like thirty three something starts in college.
This kid, twenty eight starts at Iowa for basically a four year starter. So yep, he played a lot of football, and he wasn't intimidated by the situation last week. You know, when I and I was watching the game kind of with one eye. I was watching I guess two at the same time, or baseball, But I didn't see him. You know how rookie quarterbacks get back there and you see him, they get happy feet panic, and all of a sudden they're running out the back. And I didn't
see that. No, No, I saw a little bit from Turbisky the first time, right. Oh yeah. But but this guy seemed like he was in the pocket, like he was in control. If you watch Iowa football, he took a ton of hits. I mean he'd stand there and get hit and get hit and then get back up. It's awful. No, I mean he but he's a tough guy. You know his grandfather. I knew his grandfather well, But Bobby Bethor general manager Chargers Redskins. I mean he was
great and really brother was yea. His uncle is a scout. Guess what you guys know that song Boys of Fall by Kenny Chesney. His dad wrote that song No Way So where? Yeah? Interesting? Yeah. So to me, this is one of those things where you have to I think you'd have to be a little nervous, especially if you if you guys are right about running the football, Yeah
they run it. Yeah, if it's not all on his shoulders. Yeah. Yeah, you get ready for everybody standing up in the press box and like hang onto your rear bit you know that kind of stuff that's fun. Yeah, Hey, we've been there though, we have hang on. It happens in the in the studio all the time. Nake gets so mad at me. I just yell at the screen, what do we know? What are we doing? You know? One of those things. Who do you think is more excited about
a rookie quarterback DeMarcus Lawrence or Shun Lee. That's a good question because you know, I think especially one that doesn't move like Mickey was talking about. That's what I'm trying to think here, like right now, like where could you kind of like let me take advantage of the fact that he is. Yeah, let me see this though, try to Marinelli. Yeah, Trent Brown, who's the tackle, the right tackle for the forty nine ers. Yeah, this is a slow footed guy. I mean this could be but
run the football. You protect him. But if it turns into you have to throw to throw to throw, get ready for Trent Brown, seventy seven. Maybe getting some holding calls against that guy. I'll have three sacks. Yeah, you gotta get him in third and eight, third nine, law, that's right. I think still leading the league. Yes, still got the belt. Throw a by too. He's gonna go to the Pro Bowl. Somebody's got to do something to get the belt from because no one else has earned
a belt. That's a good point. Sean Lee might get the belt this week. Let's hope Anthony Hitchins. Go get you that belt. No, you're you're not wrong about that. The belt only on the defensive side. It's player of the week I think for the entire team. So get you that. Yeah, go get you that belt. Des Bryant is a is the guy that I think might have a big game this week. I didn't play a matchup, got an interesting matchup with Rashad Robertson from I know
LSU cornerback. You no, no, this guy, this guy was off the field problem guy. He should have been drafted. He should have been much higher than where he was picked. Like, he's a beast. He could play. You'd like to have him on your team even with all the off the field problems that he had. He can. I mean, he can play. And that's the thing, is the length to reach and all that. I mean, he's gonna match up with Dez. It's gonna be difficult because he'll make Dez
have to deal with some fifty fifty balls. You know, I gus with safeties, Eric Reed, gi me, I'll you guys like Central DBU. I will see Amo claimed that didn't he Well, they had a lot for Bill's white. Yeah, they've got they got other ones. They've got some guys. Yeah, so Iron Matthew, Yeah, a for Peterson Aderson want us to keep going, Guys, you know, I was just realizing it has had the best Missouri doesn't and that North that I can't even get your school out here. You
go ahead. I'm sorry, New Mexico. Yeah, I was trying to say New Mexico and I just fumbled it badly about seven. Hey, we got er lacker in the conversation. I'm sorry, Byron Bell. We might be on the starting offense. He swing tackle as a street named after. I want you to get an interview pregame with Byron Bell. I want you to go out there and get a pregame interview gladly like he's the coolest guy, great guy and a new Mexico US so miss Missouri guys are on
the team anymore. Actually, gash Car, you know he got signed by this week. Who do you get signed by the Panthers? Really? Yeah? And I'm assuming it's because Keithley. You know that you're uncertain of his status. Yeah, he's been banged up a lot too. Yeah, but Gascar back fighting Tiger. He's out there still doing it. Yep, he's doing it. You know. He's having the best season so
far though, and for different reasons. I mean, Adrian Peterson got traded last week, but now he gets two free trips to London because he obviously went there with the Saints. He's there. Oh wow, with the cardinal that is a good point. At least, you know he's got a passport. Yeah. I love the London folks. Is that nice? I wish you could have gone on that trip of the Stack.
I do too. You know the one year that they were like, okay, the maybe we get a beat falls in the NFC East at third right or where where the Rams fell right, and it was the Giants one game. I think that's how it works. They did that a few years because Jacksonville's going every year. They're going every year, so we gotta get jackson See. What's surprising is they
took a divisional game over there. They took the Arizona Cardinal ram game over there that they usually don't take a division I hope I'm stupid about that, but it's unusual for them to take a Who did the Lions play? They played out there? The Dolphins? Yes, no, well the Saints played the Saint who played somebody says played Jack's Jacksonville. I don't catch a kiddingy. My apologies. My apologies all are UK fans Ravens, because that day I started the
Ravens defense on my fantasy team. Negative four points. That's right, the Ravens were. That's what Blake Bortles just lit them up. Yeah, bb Man Blake portals. Yeah, talk about that. We're gonna see some Blake Bortles draft. Did it here at and T Stadium? Yeah, come in April. So it's pretty funny. Drew Pearson just took to Twitter and now everyone's rallying for him to do all the Cowboys picks. Oh to announce him. Yeah, he needs a strong presence at the
draft next year. No question. If you were the Eagles right now and you saw what Drew Pearson was able to do to rally up your guys and get it so crazy, who would you choose? Is there one player to get out there and make some picks and get the Cowboys fans all riled up? The Eagles they would need to continue doing what they're doing because they would have nothing to brag about. I'm trying to think, what
don't they going to brag about? That vision old champion who is probably one of the more hated like Ron Jaworski, would he make you mad? Old school cornabt McNabb. Don McNabb might be one boy. He had great success against the Cowboys. He's a nice guy. Though. Can't we still have Gene from Philadelphia on the line because he might be able to tell us. She Yeah, Jean is here, Geane. Who do you think the Eagles player would be that would get Cowboys fans all riled up at the draft? Oh? Boy,
do they really have anybody? And you live in Philly, that's yeah. So I live in the Eagles country and my dad and my brothers a Giant season ticket holders. Wow. So um, I'm obviously a Cowboys fan and so you know, it's kind of tough living around here. Yeah. I did want to weigh in on the Zeke thing because they keep telling me, you know, Zeke is a domestic abuser,
you know, every time I talk about him. So I say that if Zeke is innocent, taking an nfd NFL deal will have his detractors, especially opponent fans, convinced that he was guilty and he took a deal because he was guilty, and it won't clear his name. And I also believe that if he does go through the process and he does clear his name, that perhaps he should think about suing good Dell in civil court for defamation a character to keep Dell in check for ruining a
man's reputation without due process. Well, cre we go, James Drop of the heat. I like it. I think he was going to sue the Tiffany Thompson, you know, that's who I thought he would see sue. Excuse me, because she's gonna file for a civil suit. Yeah, if if this thing sticks. See I just again, guys, I just and I appreciate the call, I really really do. And she makes good points. I just feel like that he's never going to get to fully clear his name. Yeah,
I really don't. That's what I worry about. You know, whether you want to say he's he did this, that or the other. I just don't think the fact that the NFL is the judge and jury here, I just don't. See. They've bought so many of these these hearings cases whatever you want to. Every time that they've played, every time that they've played legal system people, they've failed. Okay, question and this might be a stretch to just bear with me. When you think of Adrian Peterson, do you think of
it and child abuser? I still think that I personally don't. I don't either. Michael Vick see now see see but see Michael convict he now the court of law. Adrian Peterson he served time. Michael Vick served time. Now Adrian Peterson, you know that's that's something different, because well, I don't know if it's different, because again you've got you had photographs, you know, and then in Zeke you know, but were his photographs when would it? You know, there's all these
questions that and I'm not trying to defend Zeke. I'm just saying though that you know, when you think of Adrian Peterson, I tend to don't feel that way. I don't, you know. But again, it's it's about court. It is it's about it's about the United States court system and when the United States court system tries you. That's why Jordan Lewis I keep saying his name, he Jordan Lewis, cleared his name, he Jordan Lewis. If anybody ever says
to Jordan Lewis, oh you're a domestic violence no I'm not. Yeah, I went to court in front of my peers and got my name clear. So don't you call me that, you know. And And and I don't think that Zeke Mickey's talking about another case. I don't think Zeke will ever have that opportunity. I don't think he'll ever get never get there. I don't think you'll ever be like Jordan Lewis and get the clearest name fully. I got the eagle guy for you. Wilbert Montgomery, how about Dick
for meal? Like that? What year is that? You make you mad? Dick for me? Okay? He was the running back then. Oh yeah, he is probably the most divisive guy. But he's also a cowboy. So how about Bill Burgee linebacker? How about Mark Sanchez, John Spagnola, John tight End, Yeah, not your dad. Funny story. You only got one minute. I can do it in a minute. He was having a big first half against the Cowboys in the sports edator from the Times Herald was at the game and
he goes, Okay, here's what we're gonna do. You do a side buyer on him. We're gonna get your name in the buyeline and in the headline. And then the Cowboys came back and won and it didn't didn't matter. I didn't get to write it. I would have been in the headline. Oh that would have been beautiful. It would have been synergy, it would have been great. Well, guys, we're gonna have a lot to talk about with inactives tomorrow when we guess them and pick some predictions for
